no but the more i think about this the more convinced i am that there is absolutely no way this ends well for oisín. either:

a) the apparent crush on adaine was all a ploy, in which case he'd better pray that adaine's furious fist kills him outright. there are soooo many ridiculously powerful people who would want to see him SUFFER for hurting her; or,

b) the crush was real, and he is pissed at adaine for ??? not noticing him, when there's no indication he ever actually tried to interact with her prior to this?? which basically makes him biz 2.0 and. HOO BOY. considering how she roasted that guy as a freshman?? i cannot imagine how hard junior year adaine would go

Maybe the Rat Grinders killed Lucy, but maybe it also wasn't their fault.

They said that Lucy was beaten to death by multiple assailants and beating is the most common way people attack when enraged. We know that we're contending with a god of rage who's name was written on Lucy's ribs.

We also know that this rage god has the power to send people into violent rages they have no control over, where they may attack those they love.

What if one day in the woods all the rat grinders except Lucy were spun into an uncontrollable rage that caused them to attack their friend.

What if at the end when they came out of it and saw their friend beaten and bloodied they were horrified, but also so very scared. They're just kids, what could be more terrifying than having to confess to a murder you didn't have any control over committing?

So they hide the body and agree to keep it quiet, letting Lucy just disappear.

anyway i do one hundred percent think the rat grinders Are the ones who killed lucy. she had multiple wounds from multiple assailants.

i also think that killing lucy was an impulsive move, probably in the middle of lucy trying to argue with them that they were making the wrong decisions, and after it was over and the fit of rage wore off and they realised she Wasn't Coming Back, THATS their point of no return, from their perspective

theres no coming back from that in their heads, i think, and they all deal with that in their own way but i think its the tipping point even more than choosing rage over death themselves was and its part of why theyre still all in on porters plan because what else are they going to do. they already killed lucy
