this watcher news is so insane to me for lots of reasons but i cant help thinking of starkid. an independent musical theater company that has put all their musical productions on youtube for free for over 15 years. recently, those projects have cost easily over 200k EACH. yet, they keep posting it for free. why? because doing that provides for their fanbase, which supports them monetarily in other ways. they produced 2 musicals back-to-back in summer 2014 to still be able to support the company, and still put them both on youtube. they hit their 250k kickstarter goal in 3 DAYS LAST WEEK. they have tons of prizes and exclusive content that people can get for payment. people willingly give them that money because they are ultimately creating art for all of us to see, for free. it would have made perfect sense for them to stop doing this years ago, but they didn't, because that would go against everything that helped them become as big of a production as they are. imagine if avpm was never released on youtube for free! i guess my point is that there IS a way to make a profit and still release "free" content for the masses. watcher just doesn't seem to want to put the work in for that.

New to the story?  Read from the beginning.  PART 1 is here
///////////////////////
“True, Captain Sarfin,” the Dragon answered.  “I will leave the management of the whole case to your wisdom.  Sula is wise in the Law also.  And you both have compassion.  With your permission, Mecat and I and perhaps a few others would like to observe the case as you try it.”
“It would be an honor,” said Sarfin.  “How is your mate?  I haven’t seen Mecat since your wedding, under the Dragon Moons.”
“She is well, thank you.  Mecat has been visiting Kurin as much as she can since Kurin got to the Dragon Sea.”  With that, the huge Dragon slipped silently beneath the waves and was gone.
Huld had been allowing the Soaring Bird to drift while the conversation with the Dragon went on.  Now, to the sound of horns, the ship got underway and closed with the Longin’s free side.  After the three ships were tied together, Sula, Sarfin and Huld went aboard the Longin to pay their respects and inquire just what in the name of all Dragons was going on.
Chapter 26: Trial
The Dark Dragon arrived while the unsetting Arctic sun was at its nadir, producing a ghostly light that filtered through low, broken clouds. The powerful hunter ship’s proud sails were filled tight like claws full of wind.  The huge war catapult was carefully unloaded and released from its tension.  All of the other preparations for conflict were undone with the same care and hunting blocks were again placed into the smaller catapults, rendering them nearly useless for battle.  Long Wing Ray fang knives were handed back into the ship’s armory along with pikes, spears and crossbows.
Sula knew exactly how her ship was disarming and Sarfin now had some idea of what was involved.  He had seen much of the arming after all, and had watched a similar process of disarmament aboard the Soaring Bird.
Two other watchers had some idea of what they were seeing and were vastly relieved that this ship was coming in peace.  Barad and Captain Tanlin.  “Remember, Luve, wen ye said t’at we ‘ad naught t’ fear so long as t’ese twain were nae ‘unting us?” Tanlin asked thoughtfully.
“Indeed I do,” Barad replied soberly, “and now they are both here and we are the hunted.  Yet I fear them less than the Naral fleet judge.”
That ‘morning’ as the sun climbed up and the light got better, tables and benches were set out on the deck of the Soaring Bird.  One table was for Sarfin to sit at, the sole judge, as requested by Kurin’s note.  Another table, close to the first, was for Sula, at Dark Iren’s request.  A third table was for Captains Urson and Farrol. Urson as witness to the trial for the Council and Farrol as prosecutor.  Kurin, Barad and Tanlin occupied a fourth table at the focus of the other three.
The formalities of the opening droned on, who was there, the purpose of the meeting, and all of the rest that the official record needed. Kurin listened, fidgeted and wound her fine white hair about a finger, and leafed through her impressive stack of case notes.
At last came the meat of the event.  “The Specification of Charges against the Ship known as Grandalor and her Captain Barad, officers and crew,” Sarfin read.  Kurin became very still, listening intently.  Quietly, so as not to disturb the humans at their works, Great Sea Dragons began to surface about the Soaring Bird.  In only moments, all five of the Greatest of the Great Sea Dragons were staring intently at the trial being played out before them.  This audience made Captain Sarfin as edgy as a crab out of water.
Still, he forged ahead, “The First Charge is of the attempted murder of Kurin Behar Longin and the murder of the sailor Garfin Halin Grython by means of a poisonous Ord spine.  The Second Charge is Flight from the Justice of the Naral fleet.  The Third Charge is of piracy against the Fauline.  There is also a Council Requirement for Knowledge ordering the opening of the Grandalor’s logs and all other records to determine what other charges may be in order.”
Kurin got to her feet and faced Captain Sarfin, the judge.  “If it is alright with you, I can settle that last point now.  As I know that you are aware, I never forget anything that I read.  I have read every written thing aboard the Grandalor.  I will stipulate the necessary charges.  Specifically, and first, the counterfeiting of Naral fleet ship’s scrip.  Second, for the last twenty two Gatherings, the Grandalor has traded in Human Indentures with the Arrakan fleet.  Thirdly, the Grandalor has attacked two ships of the Naral fleet.  The Fauline was rammed shortly before the recent Coriolis storm.  The repairs that enabled the Fauline to survive were done by the Grandalor.  The charge of piracy is denied entirely.  The Longin was attacked here in the Dragon Sea, just days ago.  Repairs to the Longin are still on going, financed and supplied by the Grandalor.”
The stipulations appeared to bother Sarfin a great deal.  “If you are going to be the Grandalor’s advocate in these matters, Kurin, shouldn’t you try to minimize this?  These charges of slavery and piracy will force executions and Scattering if they hold up at all.”
Kurin answered briskly, “Our defense will show both the reason and the legality of the issues in each case.
“In regard to the charge of counterfeiting, the Grandalor will plead guilty.  Captain Barad, Mister Morgu, the Purser, and a few of the crew under his direction carried out the operation.  Many sailors passed the notes.  Though they suspected that the notes were counterfeit, they simply followed orders.  Only those who ordered them to pass the notes and those who made the notes were actually guilty.
“Now, Captain Sarfin, I have a question for you.  At which Council were the counterfeits declared illegal?”
Sarfin was dumbfounded.  “It has been discussed for the last five Gatherings but there were technicalities in the way of a resolution. It is theft.  It was never declared illegal, per se.  The Pursers met to discuss a means of ending the problem since the Council seemed unable to accomplish anything.”
Kurin leaned back in her chair, well pleased that her first point had gone home.  “Hence, this issue is a civil matter.  I have ordered that the Grandalor pay immediate restitution to every wronged ship.  You are in the proper legal position to levy appropriate fines.  I suggest that each wronged ship receive twice their losses with a like amount going to the Naral fleet.”
Sarfin shook his head, “Kurin, you are the Grandalor’s advocate.  You can suggest payment.  You cannot require it.  Only the Court can do that.”
At this, Tanlin raised her hands for recognition.  When Sarfin indicated that she might speak, she said, “Wit’ due respect, Ca’tain Sarfin, ye are wrong.”  She held out for Sarfin’s inspection a bound sheaf of parchments.  “We all surrendered our ship, possessions, accounts an’ every ot’er t’ing on t’e Grandalor t’ Kurin as sole owner an’ possessor.  We also rendered personal surrender documents, surrenderin’ t’ ‘er an’ ‘er alone.  I’ we refuse any order o’ ‘ers ‘twould be a mutiny an’ we ‘ave already suffered ane o’ t’ose.”
Sarfin looked over the bundle of parchment as if it might explode.  He said critically, “The Council still has a one share legal interest in the Grandalor, as it does in every other ship in the fleet for taxation purposes.”
Kurin lolled back in her chair and said, “Look at the date of those papers.  When the surrender was taken, the Grandalor was still under the Edict, as no copy of the rescission of warrant had arrived here. I quote from the Edict, ‘the reward for capture shall be the ship itself and all goods and accounts aboard, whatsoever.’  As she was stricken from the fleet rolls at the time, the Naral fleet has no claim whatsoever on her resources.  When my ship is properly reinstated under command that is satisfactory to me, I will happily cede the proper single share to the Naral fleet.”

IBFAN at WHO's Executive Board: tackling commercialisation of health care systems
IBFAN with the People’s Health Movement Watchers who take notes of the whole meeting.  Bravo!  From the left for PHM: Maninder Pal Singh, Gargeya Telakapalli, Alexexandre Gajardo, Anna Peiris, Sarai Keestra. IBFANers Patti, Fedora Bernard and Alessia Bigi. PHM again: Stuti Pant, Giulia Loffreda, and Damir Martinovi.
Alessia Bigi, Speaking on Item 5.6 Climate Change
Patti Rundall speaking on Anti Microbial Resistance Item 5.8
Good article in Health Policy Watch
            24th January – 1st February
I’ve been at the WHO Executive Board meeting since 24th January –  joining IBFAN GIFA colleagues Alessia Bigi and Fedora Bernard and partner NGOs (members of the G2H2 Geneva Hub):  People’s Health Movement, Third World Network, IOGT, Medicins sans Frontieres, Medicus Mundi, Wemos, Oxfam, Knowledge Ecology International and Drugs for Neglected Diseases.
Its been a long complex meeting with big transformational cross-cutting issues on the agenda and enormous health challenges. All the documents, NGO statement and live webcasts are available from this link
IBFAN and many of the NGOs are warning WHO of the risks of getting too close to corporations and the need for WHO to develop a sound Conflicts of Interest (COI) policy that will address WHO’s own institutional COI.
Here are some of the items we covered:
Agenda 5.5  Universal Health Coverage:

  TEXTS
Agenda Item 5.5. Universal Health Coverage
As one of WHO’s longest-standing public interest partners IBFAN strongly supports the principle of publicly funded UHC and welcomes WHO’s acknowledgement that primary health care is its foundation.
However, that so little attention is paid to the need for conflict of Interest safeguards is worrying. WHO’s keenness to involve the corporations and its fear of being seen as ‘risk averse’ now seems more evident than its concern about being seen as cavalier, even negligent.
Of course WHO cannot police what happens at country level, however it does have an obligation to warn Member States of the risks of inappropriate commercial involvement in health care services.  If it doesn’t the public might surely question its independence, integrity and trustworthiness.
There are countless examples of patient being misled and health being harmed because of such involvement.   To take just one – baby food company phone apps that advise mothers how to feed their babies.  If WHO does not want to be seen as endorsing such things it needs to repeatedly warn of the risks of  inappropriate sponsorship.
Innovation that can genuinely advance health is to be welcomed –  but corporations do not have a monopoly on innovative ideas.  Unless their interventions are carefully screened and monitored by truly independent bodies, their risks to health and increased costs to services can sabotage public health goals.
If corporations are involved in monitoring and reporting – as they might be in a Public Private Partnership – the benefits of interventions are likely to be promoted above the risks. Companies are soon  trusted to help with health care planning, given access to personal data and everything else they need to expand their markets.
Meanwhile the publicly funded health care systems that exist in many countries are under attack from those pushing privatised systems.
This is a slippery slope that needs to be navigated very carefully and WHO has a key role to play in getting it right. Thank you

Agenda Item EB 5.6: Health, environment and climate change (CCB144_15-en)
IBFAN welcomes the opportunity to comment on the draft strategy that suggests new approaches to change the “the way we manage our environment with respect to health and well-being”.
In the case of breastfeeding much more should be done to protect, promote and support it.  Breastfeeding, a practice that has no carbon footprint, contributes to water conservation and helps in the reduction of air pollution is all too often ignored by conservationists.
While we are calling for the reduction of avoidable environmental risks, global sales of breastmilk substitutes (BMS) increase rapidly every year, boosted by sophisticated marketing against which breastfeeding cannot compete. These products are, of course, necessary for babies who are not breastfed, but the fact is they need energy to manufacture, materials for packaging, fuel for transport distribution and water, fuel and cleaning agents for daily preparation and use and generate Green House Gases.
More than 4000 litres of water are estimated to be needed along the production pathway to produce just 1 kg of formula powder.
If breastfeeding was considered a public health intervention for climate change prevention and mitigation perhaps more would be done to end misleading marketing of baby food companies and to support women who want to breastfeed.
Climate change is linked to extreme weather conditions and environmental health emergencies: breastfeeding is a lifeline in emergencies but it needs positive action by governments to be protected
At the very minimum all governments should fully implement the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes and relevant WHA Resolutions. Goal 12 of the draft strategy,[1] on Governance, should also include the requirement that national and local governments set up proper safeguards against conflicts of interest and commercial influence when facilitating “cross-sectorial cooperation”.  Thank you
IBFAN’s 6-country study of the impact of formula production on GHG emissions
[1] 12. Governance. National and local governments (for example, of cities) have mechanisms in place that facilitate cross-sectoral cooperation and integrate health in all relevant policies and ensure that they fulfil their obligations to provide safe environments for their citizens.
_________________________
Agenda Item 5.8. Non Communicable Diseases
IBFAN has worked with WHO on NCDs since 2003 and knows that the threat to public health cannot be solved by national policies alone. It needs an international solution to tackle the power of multinational food corporations – who all share the same tactics as the tobacco industry.
WHO’s courage to continue its work on baby food code, tackling conflicts of interest and integrating the Code and WHA Resolutions into Codex trading standards,  is an important model to follow that continues to save many lives. Thank you.
Sadly,  WHO’s work on NCD’s has in many ways been derailed and is now becoming unsustainable. WHO’s  “fresh working relationship” with the food and related industries seems to be promoting the Public Private Partnership model – without the resources to identify and manage the risks. Without such scrutiny WHO’s name is being misused and its health goals undermined.
WHO should be working with governments, small farmers, social movements and others to prevent soil depletion, deforestation and land-grabbing. It must encourage the healthy, biodiverse and culturally appropriate food that is best for humans and the planet. Instead WHO seems transfixed with persuading food corporations to produce slightly less harmful – but still highly processed products and risky technological fixes.
IBFAN has sat on the European Commission’s Diet Platform for over 10 years and has seen its risks and limitations.  Sound ideas are displaced by voluntary, here today, gone tomorrow promises and effective regulatory action is delayed.
Governments must be in the driver’s seat and have access to hard data.  Asking them to put ‘engagement’ before risk assessment is asking for trouble.  We strongly urge a rethink on WHO’s strategy on NCDs.  Thank you
______________
Agenda Item 5.8. Anti-Microbial resistance
As an NGO that has attended Codex meetings for more than 20 years, IBFAN is pleased that WHO is providing evidence to support the strengthening of Codex trading standards and texts to minimize and contain antimicrobial resistance throughout the animal and food chain, including through processing.  We hope that all Member States will recognize that this is a threat to global health security that no country can eliminate on its own and that there are inevitable implications for global trade. Codex is a difficult fora that is dominated by powerful corporations and industrialised countries that protect their interests. WHO needs to be there and strong to protect the global health goal in these complex negotiations
Among the many factors that increase the risk of AMR are poor animal husbandry and crop management, pharmaceutical promotion and over the counter sales that encourage inappropriate use of anti-biotics. We note that only 64 countries have limited the use of critically important antimicrobials (human and animal) for growth promotion in animal food production.
Strong health care systems, cross agency action, surveillance and regulation of all the industries involved is clearly essential.  However,  care must be taken to ensure that any public private collaborations do not muddy the waters, slow everything down and lead to weaker controls and action.   There is evidence that a higher dependence on the private health sector and higher density of private health clinics is associated with increased AMR due to frequent overuse of antibiotics.
Lastly, we support the efforts to promote WASH components within National Action Plans to reduce the incidence of infections. WASH, alongside stricter marketing regulations will protect breastfeeding – a practice that is critically important in reducing the incidence of infections in infants and young children. Thank you

Agenda item  7.3. Engagement with non-State actors (FENSA).
We were asked to limit statements to one minute:
IBFAN supports Medicus Mundi’s highlighting of the extent of private funding of NSAs. It is essential that genuine civil society participation in governing body meetings is not undermined. Tobacco is not the only risk!
The lack of transparency caused by the term NSA could be helped with different coloured badges, distinguishing civil society NGOs from businesses.
Good that an evaluation of FENSA will be carried out in 2019.  Please can this be a thorough, public and transparent review involving conflict of interest experts and critical civil society organisations.
Most urgently please correct the definition of what a Conflict of Interest is and develop a comprehensive policy that addresses WHO’s own institutional COI.
Without it FENSA is transformed into a framework that legitimizes and encourages undue entanglements and funding opportunity to replace the untied funding from assessed contributions that WHO so urgently needs.  Thank you

Will Modern technology Developments Limit Leisure Options?
New Post has been published on https://entertainmentguideto.com/entertainment-news/will-modern-technology-developments-limit-leisure-options/
Will Modern technology Developments Limit Leisure Options?
Hollywood recently been telling United states about the economic problems the film industry is facing. In reaction, American citizens have questioned Hollywood to start generating videos which are sufficiently good to watch and well worth the 15 money theaters cost! Within the last four years admission revenue for new motion pictures have progressively lowered. How come this taking place? Are film theaters disappearing? Will movie studios get out of company and further limit client decision? This article will make an effort to solution these inquiries by evaluating the difficulties and opportunities faced by both the entertainment buyers and sector.
How come ticket sales declining?
Home entertainment system solutions
Aside from the restricted top quality of movies becoming created, many People in america have create %u201Chome theater%u201D systems inside their properties. The lowering of prices of big display theatre and TVs high quality encircle audio systems has generated a generation of film viewers that have the resources to create a theatre surroundings in their residences. Once you put the benefit of without having to accept a person else%u2019s weeping little one and having the capacity to pause the film when you should get a treat or drink there%u2019s really no question why movie theater attendance is downward.
Digital video disc release and rates house windows
For many years, the film business has operated on a series of sophisticated discharge windows:
Initial, films play in theaters, then, six months in the future, the video windowpane starts up, then the starting of your pay TV after which totally free television set home window. (Slate, Accessing for Bucks)
Since the price stage for the DVD is less than having a group of several towards the theater, numerous buyers just wait for a motion picture to become unveiled on DVD. Digital video disc participants have decreased in price a great deal they%u2019re virtually ubiquitous in American homes and so are an important component of any home cinema method.
Hollywood is being pressured monetarily on the movie theaters by these circumstances. An effective opening up weekend is an important part of the viability of your film. Studios spend about $30 mil every video marketing the theatrical relieve. The question several industry specialists are asking means that the studios don%u2019t change the making windows. Otherwise, get rid of them altogether.
Simultaneous Lets out?
Several of Hollywood%u2019s most significant players are testing this theory at the moment, sort of. The film Bubble, instructed by Steven Soderbergh and reinforced financially by tech businessman and Dallas Mavericks owner Label Cuban will be the very first of half a dozen motion pictures planned to test Hollywood%u2019s window process. Introduced Jan 27th, Bubble could be observed in movie theaters or pay-per-view on cable television and from satellite suppliers by way of HDNet television. 4 times later, Bubble was published on Digital video disc with additional content material on the DVD edition.
Bubble is a firmly controlled test. The film itself is short (72 minutes or so), starred only inexperienced stars and was largely panned by pundits. Theatrical syndication was limited to Landmark Theaters which Cuban owns plus some independents%u2026other movie theaters boycotted it. Pay out-per-perspective was also dispersed by way of a Cuban possessed business HDNet which includes circulation via numerous significant cable tv satellite and firms suppliers Recipe System and DirecTV.
A few days following the film%u2019s Soderbergh, Cuban and relieve declared glory with their experiment. Although theater income had been only $70,644 on 32 screens, DVD revenue quadrupled anticipations. A profit discussing model offered 1Per cent of DVD revenue to movie theaters that demonstrated Bubble. The motion picture by itself cost about $1.7 zillion to experienced and then make profit projections soon after simply a few days of launch.
Are motion picture theaters disappearing?
How come Hollywood earnings make a difference to Us shoppers?
If you like economics, the declining film ticket sales conundrum may be appealing to you. Most Us citizens nonetheless don%u2019t mind. Hollywood offers a photo of huge spending budgets, costly automobiles, film and mansions legend life styles while many of America is hidden under credit debt and battling to get gas with their Hondas or pay out their home heating bills. But, Hollywood profits need to matter, as if a movie, Television set system, or documentary doesn%u2019t possess a big audience, it receives cancelled and nobody reaches view it.
In The United States, we like our amusement. Even with the quality of a software program, television shows that don%u2019t have adequate enough audiences for community TV undoubtedly get cancelled. During my mind, Arrested Growth is amongst the funniest applications out there at the moment. It offers experienced essential achievement plus a central of visitors, but it won%u2019t be coming back again following time of year. Fox will shed the remaining events in poor and sometimes arbitrary time slot machine games. Even extended operating, %u201Csuccessful%u201D plans like The West Wing and Celebrity Trek: Company eventually get the axe. They could still create a earnings and United states shoppers could get the encoding we desire if Hollywood resorted to different syndication and income designs.
Will shoppers pay for TV encoding?
Hollywood has created an presumption that shoppers won%u2019t buy encoding and have to count on advertisers for profits. But, more than 70Per cent of Americans already sign up for cable television or satellite TV to obtain crystal clear programming. The question isn%u2019t regardless of whether American citizens are prepared to pay out, it really is exactly how much would they pay.
Andy Bowers from Slate gives this theory %u2013
The Western side Wing has about 8 million audiences per week. It costs about $6 million for each episode. To put it differently, if everyone who now wrist watches the display paid $1 a week, TWW would more than pay for alone.
Obviously not all the 8 zillion audiences could or would pay money for the show. But let’s say a quarter of which would. That’s 2 zillion men and women having to pay $3 for each episode (or possibly $4, organizing within a buck for Steve Tasks as well as the cable television organizations). The attacks could possibly be viewed over a PPV channel, delivered electronically to some DVR, or slurped on online video iPods.
If all Tv set coding could be distributed within this style, now, envision! Applications like Arrested Development wouldn%u2019t need to depend upon a high 20 standing to remain about the atmosphere. Coding would develop into a purpose of client demand%u2026American Television set watchers would actually have a lot more decision!
Will advancements in technological innovation lessen consumer selection?
Technologies creates selection
Technology may be the enabler within this case. If there have been no system for people like us to document or playback applications, we may still be at the mercy of Television set broadcasters for the leisure. The Electronic digital Television migration of 2009 will make it easy for every household to permit some sort of spend-for every-look at choice, even though they don%u2019t join cable tv or satellite Television set. Mobile observing options is likewise improving with models like Apple%u2019s video clip ipod device and Recipe Network%u2019s PocketDISH.
Now how do modern technology advancements impact films?
I found myself seeing yesterday following a Shaggy Canine commercial that a majority of new videos which can be advertised greatly are re-helps make, sequels or rewrite-offs of comic guides, video games or Tv programs. Consider the films unveiled currently %u2013 Starsky And Hutch, The Dukes of Hazzard, King Kong and Celebrity Wars: Episode III. But Edward Jay Epstein clarifies they are doing it on objective, i think it is due to the fact Hollywood experienced finally exhaust new ideas!
Simultaneous release on multiple websites will lessen the $30 thousand advertising expense studios use to blitz consumers into going out to a brand new motion picture on starting saturday and sunday. In turn, Hollywood will be able to manage to %u201Cgreen light%u201D a lot more movies that can nonetheless change a return even with smaller audiences. If movie theaters are shown a talk about of Digital video disc product sales, the burden of potentially getting a lot less video goers inside their chairs is relieved.
Bubble is only the initial of six films to be introduced concurrently by Soderbergh and Cuban. Soderbergh produced a prescient statement in a latest meet with, %u201CName any large-label film that’s appear within the last 4 years. It really has been for sale in all formats at the time of release. It’s referred to as piracy.%u201D Without a doubt, controlling piracy is a large determination associated with the market large move to digitize Television. Movie piracy can take numerous forms which includes recording the movie inside the theater with a superior quality video camera. Additionally, copying the expert disc from a submit-generation premises.
A conclusion
Bubble was just an exam. I believe another handful of films to get released by Soderbergh and Cuban will have a-checklist celebrities and really send a note to Hollywood they have to alter their enterprise model, or they are often out from company.
Technology is a good enabler of consumer and alter option. For Hollywood studios this is basically the ultimate revenue motor vehicle and maker for %u201Cjust in time%u201D product or service delivery. Simultaneous shipping of brand new films by means of numerous retailers like DVDs, movie theaters and cordsatellite and cord Television pay-for every-perspective allows far more selection for customers plus more option for Hollywood to create progressive, top quality videos. These positive aspects will also trickle as a result of Tv set development too.
Once they will adapt to technological developments instead of preventing them, hollywood often leads just how in driving a car electronic movie content for Television and movies whilst residing in manage. The music industry has recently displayed suing 12 12 months olds for installing pirated tracks is not any remedy for anyone.

A total eclipse of the Sun has to be one of the most spectacular and awe-inspiring events of the natural world.  We see dozens of pictures of these eclipses in the news and on the web, but for those who witness a total eclipse, it is – AN EXPERIENCE.  You can feel the shadow approaching. The wildlife becomes quiet.  The temperature drops.  The light becomes ghostly and strange.  Then an eerie darkness engulfs you.  You feel awe and anxiety all at the same time.  You literally feel the shadow.  You are living the experience of a total solar eclipse. Astrocon website
2017 Great Summer Eclipse
Eclipse 2017
2017 Great Summer Eclipse
Luk 21:11 (11)  And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
Mar 13:24 (24)  But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
Isa 13:10 (10)  For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
Hotels, motels, and sleeping arrangements are filling up or becoming non-existent. Thousands are expected to fly, drive, and take groups to see the Great American Eclipse. The one place they are heading is to Casper Wyoming. Those who live here are both hesitant and excited. The possibility of so many people in our town is unusual. However, things are as prepared as we can get them, or so I believe from the local reports we have read. We have provided direct resource links to the Great American Eclipse at the end of this article. WIBR/WARN Radio
Want to go see the eclipse and don’t know where to go. Well searching for a flight to a hot destination is what has been going on.  According to the website Cheapflights Casper, Wyoming saw an 1,064% increase in flight searches regarding where to see the Great summer Eclipse of 2017.
According to local radio station K2radio.com, spokeswoman Emily Fisher for Cheapflights said that eclipse mania is going on.
“You can see from the spike in volume that folks really got a case of eclipse mania, so we wanted to see what that meant for the towns in the trajectory of the sun on that day, or the shadow, more accurately,” said Cheapflights.com spokeswoman Emily Fisher.
Other hot destinations to see the Great Summer Eclipse is:
Columbia, South Carolina with 245% increase in flight searches
Cheyenne, Wyoming with 183% increase in searching for eclipse destinations
Boise, Idaho saw a 153% increase.
Yet, be sure the University of Wyoming astronomy and physic professors are also getting in on this grand event. The UW-National Park Service Research center will be there viewing the eclipse from various locations. However if you are seeking a party, there will be a star party at Boysen lake, the evening of August 20th.
“We’ll be at each site during the morning and early afternoon of Aug. 21,” says Danny Dale, a UW professor and head of the Department of Physics and Astronomy, in a statement. “I personally also will be leading an evening star party Aug. 20 at Boysen, which means letting folks look through the telescope and explaining what they are seeing — and, similarly, on Monday afternoon, but during the daytime eclipse. And, we’ll be handing out eclipse glasses and UW-emblazoned eclipse T-shirts.”
The AP reported that “people or companies from 19 foreign countries; including Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Argentina” had contacted the U.S. customs office here in Casper. They were interested in flying private jets to the area to view the eclipse.
In addition, just flying to Casper may not be the only challenge. The hotels have been sold out well ahead of the *Eclipse which is less than one week away.  While there are some hotels left, the prices range from $900 to $1300 dollars a night according to a report in the *Casper star tribune.
Downtown Casper, both second street and center; along with all side streets and tops of all buildings are expected to jam packed. You will be able to see the full totality here in town, so downtown Casper will be packed like Times square on New Year’s Eve.  We personally talked with managers and workers about the day of the eclipse. Most are concerned with traveling to and from work, with our roads and highways; some still under construction, all are expected to be bumper to bumper. Many will begin arriving this coming Wednesday the 16th, to begin preparations. The public, astronomers, and others will be scattered from Denver to Casper.
Many expect the travel corridor from Denver to Casper to be packed, with expectations of 8 hours to get to Casper. As well, outlying areas like Glendo, and Douglas, along with Glenrock are expected to swell with Eclipse watchers. Many will simply stop on I25, pulling over to view the two plus minute umbra and eclipse. The expectations are that we are as ready as anyone can be. Since this is new for Casper, the event and exposure are such that the city population could double. With many more strung out from Cheyenne to Jackson Hole.
We are stocked up with extra water, food, and gas. Our plans are set for a small private gathering to view the phenomenon from our place. During the day of eclipse, we do not plan to leave home. We know the roads and how impassible they are already during rush hours, i.e. “8 AM, Noon, and 4:30-6 PM. There is no way that bumper to bumper will not be the rule of the day here. I have no idea how emergency vehicles; first responders will be able to get around.
One thing to note, though; I have witnessed Vietnam style helicopters flying around here. One day I saw four huge grey copters, like the old ‘Huey’s from nam’. It was strange, never saw these before. We see many aircraft here locally because the flight path is directly over us as they go into land at the Casper International airport. I have seen these copters flying in formation, twice now. It sounds like a war zone at times.
As we talked with local store owners, the buzz was that flights coming into Casper would be every two minutes. This is a little bizarre, but this was what is passing around here among workers we talked with. Many are anxious and do not like the influx of people coming here. That is for good reason because as we did discuss the eclipse with Restaurant managers, grocery store managers, and workers; many believe that along with many who are coming to view the eclipse; there are others who are coming for no good reason. The warning was out in Casper to watch for human traffickers. The Police have been on alert, as well as; the disaster preparedness teams, and firefighters for terrorists and other situations.
We will be filming and taking Eclipse pictures for our websites: www.DanaGlennSmith.com and www.Warn-Usa.com. In addition, we will be publishing articles, however; most of all we will be enjoying this event. There is no doubt, while we do not know what to expect in crowds; we do know that this event is something to behold.
In all, this is an event of a lifetime. I have written on the prophetic implications, along with other articles on the Great American Eclipse. The total viewing time is not long, but the excitement over it has been going on for a long time. Many in the local preparedness teams in Casper have been working on this eclipse for a year or more; some three years. Many just want it over with. For me, the sign and the event signal a warning to America and to this planet that the Lord God is sending us sign. Whether we see this as a sign or just a physical and scientific event depends on whether you believe in biblical prophecy and the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and his Son Jesus [Yeshua] Christ.
Believe me, it is a sign and the follow-up to this sign will be forthwith coming and you will not deny it’s power nor truth. One instance of prophecy and the judgment of the Lord related to such a sign, is given in Isaiah. No doubt, for us in this nation; we should think twice on this eclipse and what it could mean for all people!
Isa 13:6-12 (6)  Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. (7)  Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man’s heart shall melt: (8)  And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames. (9)  Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. (10)  For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. (11)  And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. (12)  I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.

Study finds extending weight loss programme to be more effective
Referral to a 52-week commercial weight loss programme results in larger and more sustained weight loss than to a 12-week programme and is cost effective, according to new research published in The Lancet.
The findings are from Weight Loss Referrals for Adults in Primary Care (WRAP) trial, a study of overweight or obese adults recruited from general practice in England, led by researchers from the University of Cambridge, University of Liverpool, and University of Oxford.
Obesity greatly increases the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and some cancers, and the increase in obesity places considerable strain on health care resources. Referral to a commercial group-based weight management programme can help people lose weight, but it is not clear what the optimal duration of the programmes is, and how cost effective they are in the long term.
The researchers recruited 1,267 adults who were overweight or obese from GP practices in England, and randomly allocated them to one of three weight loss programmes: (a) a brief intervention – participants received a booklet of “self-help” strategies that have been shown to help people lose weight on their own; (b) a 12-week group-based programme – participants could go to Weight Watchers for free for 12 weeks; or (c) a 52-week group-based programme – participants could go to Weight Watchers for free for 52 weeks.
At the start of the trial, and again at three months, one year and two years, participants were weighed and other important markers of health risks like blood pressure, waist circumference, fat mass, and blood glucose levels were measured.
At the end of one year, participants in the 52-week programme had lost 6.8kg, compared to 4.8kg in the 12-week programme, and 3.3 kg in the brief intervention. Compared to participants in the other groups, those in the 52-week programme also had significantly greater reductions in fasting blood glucose and glycosylated haemoglobin, which are important markers of the future risk of developing diabetes.
During the second year of the trial, all groups regained some of the weight lost, but there was still a 1.3 kg difference between those in the 52-week programme and those in the 12-week programme at the two year follow up. In contrast, there was no significant difference between the weight loss in the 12-week programme and the brief intervention groups at the two year follow-up. There was no evidence that the impact of these programmes was affected by gender or socio-economic status.
The researchers then modelled the impact of the three programmes over the next 25 years to predict how many people would develop different weight-related illnesses and what the likely disease progression would be.  They translated the estimated deaths and illnesses into “quality-adjusted life years” or “QALYs”, a metric that values both the length of time people live and the quality of that life. They then added up the cost of the intervention and the costs of treating weight-related illnesses in each group to see which option was the most cost-effective.
The 12-week programme achieved greater reductions in illnesses than the brief intervention, and cost-savings on NHS treatment of these illnesses outweighed the initial outlay for the cost of the weight loss programme.
The 52-week programme achieved even greater reductions in illnesses than the 12-week programme and resulted in more QALYs. The costs of the 52-week intervention were not outweighed by the cost-savings on NHS treatment of weight-related illnesses, but the cost per QALY gained was only £2,394 compared to the brief intervention, and only £3,804 compared to the 12-week programme. NICE usually consider treatments to be worth funding if the cost per QALY gained is less than about £20,000.
Considerable improvements
“It is clear offering support over a year produces considerable improvements in outcomes which may in the long term provide cost saving to healthcare systems. These results will enable medical professionals to help tackle the obesity problem in a more effective way.
“At Liverpool we were delighted to offer so many the opportunity of access to treatment though this trial and look forward to tracking their progress.”
Dr Amy Ahern, a Senior Investigator Scientist from the Medical Research Council (MRC) Epidemiology Unit at the University of Cambridge, who led the WRAP trial, said: “We’ve seen before that a 12-week programme can help people lose weight, but for the first time we’ve shown that extending this to a full year leads to greater weight loss and lower risk of diabetes.
“Although the initial costs of the year-long programme are greater, it’s very likely that it will be good value for money over the long term because of the reduction in weight-related illnesses. The results from the one-year programme are comparable to what has been seen in previous trials that used much more costly interventions, usually involving multiple contacts with health professionals.”
This research was funded primarily by the National Prevention Research Initiative (a consortium including government departments, research councils and major medical charities).
Weight Watchers International funded the analysis of the blood samples taken as part of the study, as part of an MRC Industrial Collaboration Award. The intervention used was provided free to the NHS by Weight Watchers. The study was conducted by scientists from MRC Human Nutrition Research, University of Cambridge, MRC Biostatistics Unit, University College London, University of Oxford, University of Liverpool, University of East Anglia, University of York, UK Health Forum and London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
