It was honestly weirdly healing for me to read wild ass smut on ao3 that was themed around the religion and not the musical, and i want it to become such a popular trend for exmos and pimos to start doing that they have to start vagueing about it in general conference. It doesnt have to be good. It just needs to *be.*

What’s the story of abish?

short version: by the power of her faith, cuteness, infodumping, and love for her queen, she’s basically the reason Ammon was able to spread the gospel to all the Lamanites in Lamoni’s kingdom and beyond.

long version: [cracks knuckles] GLAD U ASKED

ok so, alma 19. ammon’s done his arm-chopping and testimony-bearing, lamoni’s in his conversion coma, queen insists that to her he doth not stink, lovely classic stuff. When lamoni wakes up, he does some testimony bearing of his own before his court, and apparently he does it so powerfully that the ENTIRE MULTITUDE is overcome with the spirit to the point of falling to the earth. So now literally everyone in the palace is in a nifty lil conversion coma.

EXCEPT: Abish. Abish is a palace servant and likely close friend (winky face) of the queen, and she has no need for a conversion coma, cus she’s already converted due to a “remarkable vision of her father”–its debatable whether that means a vision her father had or a vision she had about her father. Regardless, Abish believes in Christ and in the religion of the Nephites, and has been living by this faith in secret for probably a really long time.

So when Ammon arrives and starts teaching, she’s probably super excited but also very wary–in this society there’s still a risk that she could be killed for anti-traditional beliefs. So then when everyone in this palace hears and listens to the gospel, and begins undergoing the same conversion process as The Actual King–Abish hits the ceiling. She is SO psyched for the spread of truth. Abish understandably wants to share the good news, come out with this secret she’s been living, and bring all her friends to learn the gospel, so she runs out of the palace and grabs as many people as she can to come see. However…this doesn’t exactly go over well. Cus the rest of the Lamanites don’t see a bunch of people undergoing a beautiful spiritual experience, they just see a bunch of people (including the king and queen) unconscious, possibly dead, on the ground. On top of that, there’s this invading Nephite prince in the middle of them (also unconscious, but that doesn’t matter so much to them). On top of that, one of these folks Abish grabbed happens to be the brother of a dude who got his arms chopped off a little bit ago. (Small world, I guess.) And on top of THAT, this brother decides ‘oh dang, this stranger chopped my bro’s arms off and is now lying totally defenseless in front of me, ILL SHOW HIM WHAT’S WHAT–” draws his sword, raises it above Ammon, and immediately drops dead on the spot.

The multitude freaks the flip out. Flips the freak out. Exceedingly sharp contention on all sides. Abish freaks out and starts crying, this is NOT what she planned, not by a long shot, what has she done what does she do now what can she do–she does the only thing she can think of, and goes to her queen and gently takes her hand.

The queen instantly jumps up to life, praising Jesus. The king and Ammon and the rest of the palace wake up too, all filled with the Spirit and ultra hype to share their experiences. And this huge multitude, firsthand witnesses to everything, are even more shocked than before–but now they’re willing to listen. 

And they listen, and they learn, and before long Lamoni’s ENTIRE KINGDOM is converted. Probably not all by coma, but ya never know. All because Abish couldn’t help but want to tell as many people as possible about other people learning about her old secret.
