You hadn’t been feeling good lately.

The pregnancy hormones were no joke, and today was especially bad. The rain outside should’ve been calming, but the sound was making your head hurt with frustration. Your feet were swollen, nausea was building up, and your back…the back pain was fucking you up. The baby was getting bigger and heavier, you never thought it was that difficult to carry a little human 24/7. You clutched your belly and tried to keep it on the table to get some relief from the weight.

“What are you doing? Are you okay?” Mingyu asked, wiping his hands from doing the dishes. You looked at him, making him gasp from the tears in your eyes. “Hey, hey, hey,” he cupped your cheek. “Where are you hurting? Should I massage you? Do you want to go to the hospital?” Even in your pain, you couldn’t help but wonder how much your husband resembled a worried golden retriever.

“My back… it hurts from carrying the baby all day” you sniffed, “lying down doesn’t help much either.”

Mingyu looked at your belly with scrunched eyebrows, and then looked at you. You would’ve laughed at his face in different circumstances. Suddenly, he came close and lifted your belly with both his hands.

Relief is all you felt. Your back relaxed and you released tears of exhaustion. “It feels really good Gyu, can you hold it like this for some more time?”

“I can hold you like this all day honey, I don’t spend 2 hours everyday in the gym for nothing!” Mingyu boasted, flexing his biceps. He bent down and talked to your belly, “My baby, don’t trouble your mother too much, she’s already in so much pain…” He looked outside, “Our daughter will be a winter baby, won’t she?”

You nodded, “she’ll be our winter bear,” chuckling at your own corniness.

Mingyu kissed your forehead, “Even if I thank you every day and every night, fill your way with rose petals or gift you every diamond in the world, I still won’t be able to express how thankful I am to you for carrying our child. I am so so so grateful for you, my beautiful wife.” He touched his forehead to yours. “I can’t wait to meet our daughter.”

“Me too.” You whispered, smiling through your tears.
