Spot eyed the horseshoe-patterned bow ties. “Don’t tell me you spent actual money on those,” he sighed. “I can’t wear that. I need to look—”

“…Like we’re dating,” Race supplied. He ignored the other comment. “Do you want people to believe us?”

Spot was usually good at controlling his emotions, but he’d caught himself staring dreamily at Race enough that he knew their fake relationship was convincing, matching bow ties or not. “You keep saying you’re a good actor,” he said.

“I’d be a better actor if we matched.”

Spot shook his head. “I hope you kept the receipt.”
