I saw @apersonwholikeslotus share some stuff about their ghosts au, and it inspired me to share a little bit more about the ghosts au I’ve been working on myself for well over a year now 💕. Big thank you to @ifindus and @nordickies as well as my friend Third over on discord for helping me out with this AU.

Ghosts, a hetalia AU.

ÅLAND/GERMANY: alive

In this AU, Linnea (Åland) & Ludwig (Germany) take Alison & Mike’s rolls. A young couple who move into a Manor House after a very far off relative of Linn’s passes away. After an accident, Linnea is left with the ability to see ghosts, unlike Ludwig who cannot.

DENMARK: 800s

A Viking arriving in britain right before the Danelaw began. Mathias never actually made it to battle, he tripped and fell onto his axe before he got there. Mathias is the oldest of the ghosts, but he doesn’t speak much English besides a few words he’s picked up overtime. Interestingly, he has an extreme reaction whenever someone mentions him helmet not having horns on it. Mathias likes to upkeep his Viking traditions, and forces Linnea to run a bath for him to sit in every week. Mathias has the ghostly ability to be able to touch and move things with enough effort.

NYO SCOTLAND: 1300s

An overly opinionated woman for her time, Bonnie was married off to a wealthy Danish man when she was young. The pair didn’t get along, she found him intolerable, and fucking stupid. Bonnie was poisoned by her husband on their trip down to the north of england. The second oldest ghost after Mathias, but the two struggled to interact with one another. Bonnie can be seen very faintly in photographs.

FAROE ISLANDS: 1400s

Gyða is the ghost I personally consider to have the most tragic backstory. The daughter of a king, and his servant mistress who had been stolen from her home. Gyða grew up never knowing who her dad was, and believing her existence was pointless. She was raised a servant, and threw her out of the highest window of the house on her 20th birthday. Gyða becomes good friends with Bonnie, who in her death helps her find her worth, which allows her to make peace and move on. Gyða’s voice can be heard by humans so long as she shouts/screams/laughs loud enough. She falls from the highest window in the house every night, recreating her death.

NYO FRANCE: 1536

A wealthy Tudor woman, heavily inspired by Anne Boleyn. Marianne was a mistress of Henry VIII between Boleyn and Seymour. She was beheaded after being accused of treason. Her ghost body can never find her head, but she does have the ability to float. She had a strong friendship with Cornwall, a pirate ghost who died not too long after her, who made peace before Linnea and Ludwig moved in.

NORWAY: 1662-1663

Aksel moved to britain alongside his family as a travelling band. They settled into a village, but were not very trusted or popular because of their pagan beliefs. When accused of witchcraft, aksel was the only one of his family who did not manage to escape and sail off to Iceland. He was burnt at the stake. He becomes best friends with Denmark after being harassed by the Viking. But he winds up learning old Norse from being unable to escape him. The two stick together like glue, aksel is more thankful for Mathias than he lets on. When stood close to Aksel you feel extremely hot.

SWEDEN: 1814

A figure of the Swedish government, Björn is in England to discuss the Sweden-Norway war and possible unification of the countries, along side his son. After a heated argument between him and his son, who will live on to become an infamous fictional serial killer in Sweden, he suffocates Björn in his sleep using his pillow. When we meet björn, he has no idea who killed him, and takes intense pride in his son. Björn likes to fill Aksel in on the “current” political system of Scandinavia (though, it is now very outdated). Björn has the ability to fiddle with lighting.

ENGLAND: WWII

What can I say? Cap is my favourite character. And the design is already made for me! I think Arthur was shot dead. He, similar to cap, had a lover who left the station to fight in the war. He makes peace and moves on when his former crush comes back to visit the house, and when Linnea goes out to talk to him, Arthur finds out his love was reciprocated.

FINLAND: 1986

The youngest of the ghosts! Aino was in britain on holiday, taking a tour of the old manor. She gets distracted by something, and in an attempt to hurry and reconnect with the group, they cross a frozen lake, which breaks and they die of hypothermia in the water. Aino herself is actually a relative of Linnea, her auntie who she never got to meet. Aino becomes an unexpected friend to Arthur, being the newest ghost the pair of them team up to try and get to the bottom of how the rest of the ghosts passed away. Aino is the opposite of aksel, when you stand too close to her, you feel colder.

There is more I could touch upon, but here you go!! My ghosts au, which I’ve been wanting to share for way too long now. You can probably spot all the ways I took inspo from the og show.

Iceland: My sister is constantly making fun of me for how lightly done I like my toast. "Your hot bread is done" she says to me. Disgusting.

Faroe: I don't say that. "Hot" would imply it's been in the toaster for more than 15 seconds, "Your lightly warmed bread is done" I tell you.

Faroe: One of these days I'm not even going to put it in the toaster, just gonna breathe real hard on the bread for a minute and you'll be like "wow this is perfectly done"

Iceland: "Thank you so much for warming up my bread for me Ida, I'm so glad we're siblings, I love you" I say to you every time your mean ass makes toast for me.

Creatures of the Night

October 25 prompt: Supernatural Creatures / Shadows / 'Do you like scary movies?'

Character(s): Faroe Islands (Eleonora/Plumage), 2P Sweden (Beck/Myskoxe), Helsinki (Taika/Lady Luck)

Lady Luck didn't believe in many creatures, if at all. But, at the moment, there was nothing she could say as the current akumatized person had been turned into a slightly less creepy version of the nuckelavee. She'd heard stories of said creatures when she was visiting the Orkney Islands a while ago. Right now, she's running from the Nuckelavee akuma to the location where Myskoxe and Plumage are waiting for her. As she approached, she could see Myskoxe. He was walking in her direction with his mallet in hand. When she passed him she could swear she heard the faint sound of the song Valhalla Calling in the background. She turned in time to see Myskoxe bring his mallet down on top of Nuckelavee's horse head, bringing the akuma to the ground. Plumage came out of her hiding spot to stand next to Lady Luck.

"I don't think Butterfly meant for this to happen," Plumage said. "Unless Sommerfugl got the miraculous back and decided to just go for it." "Lucky charm!" Lady Luck said. What appeared in her hands is a pair of handcuffs. Nuckelavee then used its hands to attack the three holders. All three dodged as Lady Luck figured out what to do with the handcuffs. "I need to get close," she said. Plumage and Myskoxe looked at her like she's crazy. "Fine, whatever you say," Plumage said. The bull and rooster holders kept Nuckelavee distracted while Lady Luck maneuvered around and tangled Nuckelavee's arms around itself before cuffing them together, leaving them unable to do anything. The trio then looked around the body for what the akumatized object could be.

"Lady Luck," Myskoxe said when he noticed something. Lady Luck went to where he is to see what he was looking at. One of the hands was shut whereas the other was open. The hand was pried open to reveal a figurine. Myskoxe took the figurine and snapped it in half. Out came a black butterfly with thin purple lines on its wings. "Time to de-evilize," Lady Luck said and used her yoyo to capture the butterfly. When it was released, it was once again a white butterfly. Nuckelavee then turned back into a normal civilian. To thet holders' surprise, the akumatized person had been Norwegian Lukas Bakke. Plumage's eyes widened. She knew him better than the other two. "I need to go," she said, taking Lukas to where he lived. Myskoxe and Lady Luck raise an eyebrow and look at each other and shrug.

"Miraculous Lady Luck!" The Kwamiswap ladybug holder exclaimed and threw her lucky charm into the air. It turned into tiny ladybugs that flew around and fixed everything. Lady Luck and Myskoxe high fived once everything was fixed and the two headed their separate ways.

Eleonora looked down at Lukas. She had been Plumage, so she had known that he was Nuckelavee earlier. Her father. Akumatized because of whoever held the butterfly miraculous. When Lukas woke up, he saw Eleonora looking down at him. He raised a hand and placed it on her cheek.

"Jeg elsker deg, pappa," Eleonora said and nestled into his touch.

I need help with my scandinavian names

I have som Ideas for names, but I want to run it through first. so Denmark I know (since I myself is Danish)

Denmark: Esben Ørnskjold Anderesen

Sweden: Berwald Oxenstierna (is Oxenstierna too rare, heart it was a noble name in sweden)

Norway : Lucas Falk (I changed his last name)

Iceland: Emil Gunnarsson (Since my research Steilsson doesn't show up for me as a valied Icelandic Surname... but Am I doing that worng? to my knowledge Icelandic surnames ends in -son for men and -dottir for females) Finland: Vieno Vainamoinen( called Tino by the rest. I am so unsure on Finland, since I don't understand Finnish at all and don't have anyone to help me understand. I just know Tino, might be Italian.)

Faroe Islands: Kasper Tórgarð (Kasper is mostly Danish I know)

I would like to present some more of the birds of the AU.. because bird people are apparently all I know how to draw lmao

Henriette (Left), a 3rd year hero student and her girlfriend Eskja (right), who does... not heroic things. They love each other very much and I have so many jokes about burnt chicken

Then we have little Lumikki, she's just a baby who loves frogs. She's the baby sister of my other character Mikkel (Who Kaz was amazing enough to draw for >this post<)

AND finally, Mrs. Abígael, who's a relative of the Henriksens as she's Vilhelm's half-sister! And she's the mom of Krákur, who can also be seen in Kaz's bird post!

do you have a faroe island and/or greenland oc? also how do you see their relationship with norway or the other nordics?

I have drawn both Greenland and Faroe once before! Greenland is just the canon design with colours I picked, while I made an Faroe oc. Though neither of these two are really considered much in Norway, during lock-down in 2020, the Faroe football league was the only one still active so a bunch of Norwegians became avid followers of Faroe football of a year 😅 Faroe does have a lot influences from both Denmark, Norway, and Scotland.

Greenland was also under Norway before Norway entered the Kalmar Union, and I know there was almost a fight between Denmark and Norway over the area in the early 1900s, where Norway claimed it should be under Norwegian rule (the same argument could be made for Faroe and Iceland too though).

I think Faroe and Greenland bond over complaining about Denmark (their favourite hobby), and Faroe sort of looks up to Norway while Greenland is indifferent about him. The two should also be good friends with Iceland, as he lived with them for most of their life and they are all island in the North Sea.

I’m gonna rank my Nordic’s from best to worst smelling.

Åland. Åland smells great, she’s rich, she got money, she can afford many nice perfumes. She’s not stinky.

Denmark. Denmark is constantly baking, smells a lot of sweet stuff like cinnamon. He does bike a lot so sweat, but he’s also one to keep up with his hygiene.

Sweden. Smells generally of wood, sometimes a bit of cake. We’re not yet in stinky territory.

Finland. Delightfully neutral. But generally smells alright.

Faroe Islands. Faroe smells badly of sea salt. And she tries to mask it with perfumes but it just makes it worse.

Norway. Stinky man who smells of fish and sweat. The only reason he isn’t lower is because on the rare occasion he smells like burnt wood.

Iceland. Another stinky man who smells of fish, but just slightly more consistent with it.

HC about Ireland being Faroe and Iceland's mom bc I can't be stopped.

I think Molly is actually a really good mom,

Like even to the point that she was able to acknowledge Ida and Ari going back to Norway with Sigurd was better for them; she didn't want them to leave. But she knew it was for the best.

If she hears about 1 more bad thing Harald did to her babies she is going to go straight to Copenhagen and beat him to a pulp :)

Ari is actually very much Molly's child, it's just not evident until you find out they're related. Then you can't unsee it.

They didn't see each other in person for literal centuries, but there are thousands of letters that went back and forth.

Molly saw them for the 'last time' sometime in the 1550's and then didn't see them again until 1950-smth.

There were tears, there was hugging and not wanting to let go, there was Molly doing the stereotypical "look at how much you two have grown!"

Neither of them look much like Molly, but Ari freckles a lot easier bc of her (thanks mom)

They're both taller than she is, just gives her an excuse to drag them both down to hug them with extra embarrassment points.

Ida has a very hard time being open to Molly bc of how much time they've spent apart.

Ida also doesn't call Molly mom in any sense, like when introducing her she'll say "This is my mother" but just calls her Molly usually.

They both very much treat Lorenzo as 'moms boyfriend' this poor man is not safe anymore.

Faroe Islands

She's very loud and speaks her every thought

Kinda has a potty mouth and Greenland has to call her out on it all the time

Her sheep, which has yet to be named, has been with her since she was born manifested? And she spoils him rotten

Actually spends a lot of time with Scotland and the other UK siblings

Despite her brash nature, she's actually a very calming person to be around

She. Is. Strong. She can lift and bench any sheep she comes across, even at such a young age

She spends a lot of time getting her hair right when she wakes up. Gotta make sure her little side curls are as far out to the side as possible
