he's so goofy, i tried to make him look interesting cuz i saw a lot of designs that were really simple and i wanted to add more silly details

so tommy is a human, but he is in fact an Aries, he is a Prospit dreamer and i believe he is a Heir of Blood (im too sleepy to explain just trust me on this one) so, hypothetically, if he were to be a troll he would be in the (canon extended zodiac's) sign of Arcer (sign of the officer)

mostly because of the way he developed as a character, starting in a way, very attached to Tommy, looking for connections and trying to be the leader of a country, but in the end not being able to bare with it all and pushing people away

In 1997 the ARCers started experimenting on a little boy (who's name is like classified in all media) and they lost a court case to him in '06/'07 after he turned 18 and was discharged. They preformed lobotomies on him, shocked him and stuff, kept him in isolation and the likes. He's anonymous in the press but if you know him, you know him. There's No Such Thing as a Feminist Jail

It's convenient for supposed 'feminists' to argue that prison is the only thing "protecting" women from *those men* because it does not require them to think about the nature of injustice and intersectional oppression and their place in perpetuating repressive systems. For some, it directly contradictions their idealized vision of all women being the innocent recipients of oppression rather than people who also play a part in reproducing those exact forces of oppressive socialization.

Believing carceral narratives allows them to never have to question the racial and gender status quo and their role in upholding it. In upholding the carceral state, they also take steps to uphold and support the masculinist state and the white supremacist state.

Carceral narratives have been used time and again to justify the reproduction of the carceral state and mass incarceration, which targets poverty and blackness, not crime. They have also been used time and again to justify paternalism and the surveillance and state-targeting of *those men*.

The system does not foster justice and accountability for the sex and gender oppressed. Some ninety percent of victims do not see reconciliation or perpetrator accountability.

Prison has never and will never foster reconciliation and accountability or decrease the rate of violent crime. Prison- as a concept- was not designed with justice or safety in mind. Prisons- and the concept of detainment- require violence, and in their success they cultivate habits and cycles of violence.

Being pro-incarceration is anti-feminist and anti-black.

REIN DOL, VERRASSEND EN VEELZIJDIG TEKENTALENT

Enkele jaren geleden zag ik zijn werk in Museum Belvédère. In de thematentoonstelling “On the Spot”. Diverse kunstenaars waren gevraagd om een voor hen dierbare plek vast te leggen in hun werken. Voor Rein Dool op dat moment, 2017, was dit het parkgebied van onder meer zijn woonplaats Dordrecht. Een verstilde omgeving waar het meer dan prettig toeven is. Dat las ik af uit de afbeeldingen in een zorgvuldige arcering, houtskool op oosters papier. Het zette mij lyrisch op woorden en ik schreef een bewogen artikel; een citaat: “De hoge bomen met gitzwarte stammen. De paden die geplaveid zijn met afgevallen bladeren. Het kroos zweeft op het water van de vijver. Takken hangen zwaar van het gebladerte. De wind waait en neemt de beweging van het krijt in de vingers van Dool mee. Tekeningen zijn dynamisch en andere geven statisch de schoonheid van het park weer. De gespotte vlakken zijn gekaderd, maar kunnen andersom werkend ook geschetst begrensd zijn en daarna door meest arcering ingevuld. Een speelse opzet derhalve, waarin de blik berustend kan wegzinken. Het is een park om in weg te dromen. Een beeld om te mijmeren. Laat mij hier maar figuurlijk versterven.”

Nu zie ik dit werk weer in het Dordrechts Museum en kan ik het daarna nog weer zien in de Fondation Custodia, maar daarvoor reis ik naar Parijs. Het museum laat een selectie van tekeningen van Rein Dool zien uit zijn omvangrijke oeuvre dat meer dan 70 jaar van werken beslaat. Ook tref ik het aan in de catalogus bij de tentoonstelling: Rein Dool tekeningen. Daarin verwoordt conservator Rijksprentenkabinet Huigen Leeflang, naast de grote oplage van afbeeldingen, de levensloop van mens en kunstenaar. De feiten enigst kind te zijn van oude ouders, een moeilijke jeugd met veel ziekten, de strenge vader en liefdevolle moeder, de christelijke opvoeding en het tekenen waarin hij eenzaam kan vluchten. En de verschillende stijlen in de kunst die Dool hanteert en aanhangt. Hij is veelzijdig, schildert en tekent, maakt grafiek en keramiek, vormt sculpturen in brons en staal, en beschikt over een feilloos kleurgevoel. Maar is ook een begenadigd fotograaf en een virtuoos muzikant, verzamelaar van muziekinstrumenten.

Maar toch komt het tekenen altijd op de eerste plaats. Het is het fundament van zijn werk, voor zijn werk. “Het is in zijn tekeningen dat hij zich het meest direct uit en laat kennen”, schrijven Femke Hameetman en Ger Luijten in het voorwoord, zij zijn respectievelijk artistiek directeur Dordrechts Museum en directeur Fondation Custodia. “Uitgangspunt voor Dools werk zijn veelal de traditionele thema’s landschap, portret, stilleven en figuurstuk.” Zijn benadering tot het onderwerp en de werkwijze waarmee hij deze vastlegt laat een grote verscheidenheid in werken zien. Er zijn tekenaars die op een bepaald moment een stijl en een manier van werken omarmen en zich daarin vasthoudend blijven uitdrukken. Maar bij Rein Dool is daarvan geen sprake, hij wisselt voortdurend van tekentrant. Zo schept hij een veelzijdig oeuvre, waarbij hij zichzelf afvraagt of iedereen wel ziet of het allemaal door een en dezelfde kunstenaar is gemaakt.

De kennismaking met zijn werk in Museum Belvédère deed mij al verwonderen, maar het zien van de doorsnee uit zijn levenswerk in het Dordrechts Museum verrast mij nog meer. Vergenoegd blader ik dan ook het boek door waarin de werken mij, hoe verschillend ook, op indruk en emotie aanspreken. Al op jonge leeftijd ontdekt Rein Dool dat tekenen hem veel voldoening geeft, het bezorgt hem een gevoel van eigenwaarde: ‘Het tekenen gaf me een doel in het leven. Als ik maar kon tekenen, dan was het goed. Ik tekende om mijzelf te worden.’ Op school oogst hij bewondering met het natekenen van historische schoolplaten. Ook dan al is zijn scherp oog en geconcentreerde blik opvallend om gedetailleerd werk te kunnen maken. Hij volgt een opleiding tot lithograaf en werkt een tijdlang in een drukkerij om vervolgens zelfstandig kunstenaar te worden.

Als jonge tekenaar ontdekt Dool zijn talent voor het tekenen naar de werkelijkheid, het wonder dat je dankzij nauwkeurig kijken en beschouwen, en door het oefenen van je hand alles om je heen kunt weergeven met een potlood. Bekijk je het onderwerp zorgvuldig van alle kanten, zie je volume en diepte, dan begint het onder je handen steeds werkelijker te worden. “Het aandachtig en nauwkeurig kijken, het zich letterlijk eigen maken van planten, bomen, gebouwen, mensen en landschappen is een vermogen dat Dool nooit meer heeft losgelaten en is gaan beschouwen als de essentie van het tekenen naar de werkelijkheid”, schrijft Huigen Leeflang. Daarnaast benadert hij zijn werk ook met veel humor wanneer dat nodig en op zijn plaats is. “Zijn oog voor het absurde van het ogenschijnlijk gewone en alledaagse vormt voor Dool een onuitputtelijke bron van inspiratie.”

Het beelden naar de uiterste werkelijkheid geeft hem het vermogen om daarnaast de essentie van het beeld te pakken. In zijn werk kan hij door te kijken welhaast fotografisch realistisch zijn, maar door die kennis van zaken kan hij dingen makkelijk weglaten tot een veelzeggend abstract werk ontstaat. Want het tekenen en schilderen naar de werkelijkheid dat hij steeds beter beheerst voelt vaak ook als een inperking van zijn vrijheid. Hij durft de werkelijkheid los te laten en ontdekt hoe weinig er voor nodig is om een mens te maken. Hij gaat zijn onderwerpen stileren, maar valt ook weer terug op abstracte werken zijn bijzonder werkelijk realisme.

Meestal tekent Dool in de buitenlucht of in het atelier naar model, maar ook maakt hij foto’s van wat hem inspireert. Deze zwart-witopnamen gebruikt hij als uitgangspunt voor zijn tekeningen. Maar van exact kopiëren is geen sprake, volgens Leeflang, eerder van een synthese. Gezichtsuitdrukkingen, ledematen en houdingen worden vertekend weergegeven, wat opmerkelijk genoeg hun herkenbaarheid en zeggingskracht vergroot. Dool woekert met zijn talenten. Niet alleen uit plichtsbesef, een zelfgekozen opdracht om er het beste van te maken, maar vooral vanwege het grote plezier in eigen kunnen dat kenmerkend is voor zijn werk, of het nu een doorwerkte compositie betreft of een luchtige schets.

“Ondanks de grote verscheidenheid in techniek, materiaalgebruik en tekenstijl blijft de verwantschap tussen Dools werken immer zichtbaar”, merkt Leeflang nog op. Dat houdt verband met zijn anders kunnen kijken, beter kunnen zien en doorzien, zijn oorspronkelijke handschrift en zijn verwondering over de wereld, zijn medemens en zichzelf. In het boek is nog plek ingeruimd voor een drietal dichters. Poëzie waarmee Dool met zijn verbeelding aan de haal is gegaan. De woorden beeld heeft gegeven, maar het zou best ook zo kunnen zijn dat het andersom werkt. Rein Dool is een verrassend tekenaar met soms wonderlijk werk. Voor elk wat wils zou je kunnen zeggen. Want van vele tekenstijlen, in abstractie en naar de werkelijkheid, van landschap tot portret en alles wat daartussen zit, dus van alle markten thuis.

Chill weekend ask game: 9 & 21

9: Sea island cotton from bath and body works, it was my mom's perfume and now when I smell it it feels like she's here with me.

I also love the smell of a rainy day in fall while in the forest, when leaves are rotting and the rain smell. My Grammy had a 5 arcers of forest land and I would hike in those woods all my childhood and teens, I had a spot I would just lay down in all the time. I would have deer, opossums, raccoons a d such walk by me and even sit near me. I miss it so much.
