Yesterday, my #memademay was my former eyeglasses. (I lost my current ones for a few days.) These were a great shape, but only came in black. When I got tired of neutral, I got out my #scribblesfabricpaint and embellished them. The paint stayed over 2 years. I only had to touch up where they rested on my nose. These paints are amazing! I go back to work tomorrow after 6 weeks off (since Mommy's major car accident). Made a quick and dirty pouch for carrying my work shears (spring-loaded Ginghers) in my purse. I didn't measure or press anything; their purpose is to protect them & the contents of my purse. Another #memademay #mmmay18 item. The other side of my reversible flamingo #apron. I never liked aprons until I started back at @joann_stores in October 2016. I also didn't much appreciate woven cottons. My small frame looks best in flowy fabrics like knits or woven summer weight rayon challis. However, who can resist the colors of quilting fabrics? Aprons are a perfect one-day project. My poor basil plant barely hung on through the winter. I ended up with one scraggly, long stem with hardly any leaves on it. In the last two weeks, it has come to life and even blossomed. I'm relieved it made it. #NotAGardener #happySpring #ArtAsAnEverydayAttitude

This small but deep drawer is in a sewing machine cabinet which came with a well-loved 1956 Pfaff I bought. The machine needs love and attention (first, the electrical cord was sheared off). I made 13 shopping bags (from quilting cottons) for this season at @origamirehab - one for every resident in Mom's building. I couldn't find a pattern/tutorial for what I wanted, so I stalled and finally made up my own design. I wanted pizza last night and we had no fresh mozzarella in the house (one of the few cheeses I can eat). I must make my own... no delivery for me. I made semi-chewy rice crust with tomato paste, olive paste, sauteed collard greens and onions, avocado, a drizzle of olive oil, and Palestinian zaatar (which was a gift brought to us from Palestine). It was delicious. I would have liked it better with some black olives (it needed a bit more salt than the zaatar added). Still, pizza is comfort food. I pushed too hard... may have acquired a cold, or maybe I am just shaky from irregular sleep and food in the last several weeks. I quit rushing to finish making a set of intended gifts. Switched gears to simple but authentic love notes instead. As in "I love you." That's all. I even gave up on handmade cards... I did print each envelope in its own design, using a simple hand-carved eraser stamp I made over a decade ago. (One envelope was made by Mommy years ago from an advertisement.) Tied them in real fabric ribbon. Stayed home from Mom's, and from a favorite party. My voice can't handle singing even if I were feeling stronger... and **not** singing is too hard.
