Asaf Sirkis nous montre là les bases du rythme chanté indien (Konnakol) et le danseur indien Hemanth Lakshman  nous montre ce que permet sa maîtrise. Si notre représentation musicale européenne avec ses triples et quadruples croches semble si complexe pour apréhender le solfège rythmique les indiens ont eu l’idée de “chanter le rythme” pour simplifier son apprentissage. Pour certains ce sera toujours aussi abscons que notre système pour d’autre ce sera la “révélation” du troisième oeil chère aux hindous :) !! Et si vous pensez que ça n’a rien à voir avec le rock and roll vous avez tout faux !

ReFocus - Tim Garland (2020)

ReFocus pays personal homage to Stan Getz's album Focus (Verve, 1962), which featured three violins, viola and cello, and secondary roles (in the main) for pianist Steve Kuhn, bassist John Neves and drummer Roy Haynes.

Instantly gratifying on multiple levels, ReFocus strikes a fine balance between classical sophistication, earthy rhythmic drive and improvisational flourish.

Whilst studying classical music, he also developed an interest in jazz which led him to participate in several workshops, private lessons and seminars around Europe with names like: Pat Metheny, Jonathan Kreisberg or Gilad Hekselman. In 2004 he moved to London to study at Middlesex University where he finished a BA hons in Jazz performance. Residing in London since then, Vitor has been an active musician in the UK, Portugal and Europe, playing alongside musicians such as James Allsopp, Marc Demuth, Binker Goldings or Asaf Sirkis to name a few. As a leader he formed the “Vitor Pereira Quintet” which became his main platform to write his own music and explore an artistic identity. This band has been getting an amazing response from audience and music media alike for its innovative and energetic sound. With a myriad of influences that go from punching rock riffs to multilayered minimalistic textures, they have been acclaimed as one of the most exciting modern jazz bands in London of the moment. They published three studio albums since 2011 triggering numerous radio plays, interviews and performances throughout the UK and Europe.
