These replies damn near killed me lmao
I LOVE the idea of Morgause getting offended when someone implies she's anything less than a deplorable maniac.
"What do you mean I 'wouldn't eat a baby'?! I'd eat a thousand babies! Ten thousand! Alive! I'd pluck them right out of an orphanage, set the place on fire, and cackle maniacally while I stuffed them down my gullet--and how dare you think otherwise! You don't know me, you ingrate! >80"
Then she swishes her cape dramatically as she heads for the exit, kicking a poffle like a football on the way out.

kid-az Sovereign try not to be cartoonishly evil for a minute challenge (Even Morgause has more restraint): #sovereign couldn’t be more on the nose evil if he tried #he might as well eat human newborns while he’s at it
Knowing how he feels about Terrians, dude probably would eat a human baby if it was sitting on a plate in front of him. :|
Okay, just kidding...even he wouldn't do that. He'd send the kid back to Terria and say "We'll meet again when you're old enough to fire a harpoon, you little shit..."
The creepiest thing about Sovereign is how many people don't consider him evil at all; in fact, they see him as a saint! To many Aquarians, he is a hero. He is the one person bravely standing up for their rights while the Terrian menace literally dumps shit on them.
On land, he is viewed as a menacing terrorist. But in the sea, he is known for his caring and generous heart. He is passionate about protecting Aquarian kind and goes out of his way to personally help individuals. Fame and glory is part of it, but he is genuinely passionate about his cause. He is not 100% heartless, he hates seeing his people in pain and wants to protect them from those that do them harm.
But as Mr. Ocean said, he has become blinded by this passion, and his love for Aquarians has become corrupted into hatred for Terrians. He does evil things for righteous reasons, because he is too consumed by hatred to get perspective on his actions. He has become so fearful of losing his culture and his people to Terrian bullshit, he's spiraled right into eugenics practices with his own children to ensure that they'll be strong enough to fight his battle after he's gone.
Now, as for the baby dolphins...there are so many peoples--in real life and on Looming Gaia--who torture animals for the sake of cuisine. Factory-farmed pigs, eating live octopi, boiling lobsters alive, the whole process of making veal...Sovereign is no exception. He is selfish and his eating habits are morally reprehensible, but this type of thing is sadly not unique to him.
We could just as easily call out Indiga, because everything on her plate was harvested and prepared by slaves. Or Qara, because her beloved fast food comes from factory-farms and woefully underpaid workers. Or even Oberon and his stupidly expensive truffles, which he scarfs down while so many of his people suffer hunger due to poverty.
Anyway this is just my long-winded way of saying Sovereign is a cruel bastard, but at least he has sorta legit reasons for being the way he is. There is no justifications for his atrocities, but there is at least a trail of logic you can follow to see how he got there.
Now Morgause, on the other hand...she would eat a human baby. Like, not even a second of hesitation, she's scarfing that thing simply because it's a fucked up thing to do and she knows it'll piss everyone off.
Sovereign antagonizes people to get eyes on his cause and hopefully end Aquarian suffering.
Morgause antagonizes people because Titania told her "no" once and she's BIG MAD about it.

kid-az Morgause truly does War Without Reason
Honestly I think the main reason is insecurity. She can't stand the fact that she has no soul, she hates being a monster, she hates the way peoples tower above her on the social hierarchy, she hates that Titania "betrayed" her...she's just so full of rage and she hates the world so much, she just wants to see it burn at this point. Creating chaos makes her feel powerful. She feels like she has something to prove.

Chaotic scenario idea: Morgause is gifted this thing:
Tumblr media
The 1000-THR Earthmover, a machine hundreds of meters tall whose lightning cannon can decimate a city, a shield generator making it impervious to all attacks on it’s exterior, and large enough to also house a city. Finally, It is powered by both solar energy and blood.
What type of hell have I unleashed by giving Morgause this giant robot alpaca?
Her first move would be to unleash this thing on the Seelie Court. Once they were destroyed, she would try to unleash it on the rest of the world.
But I think realistically, world governments would step in the second she turned it on the Seelie Court. Because they know what her next move after that will be, and they will not tolerate it. It would turn into the most lopsided war in history: all Great Kingdoms vs. Unseelie Court.
Ironically, giving Morgause this much power would lead to her destruction.

in regards 2 my last ask, lets say that hypothetically someone where to actually perfect some type of divine killing magic and was able to create something that could put a divine in the ground for good. if titania heard of this, or even if it was presented directly to her, would she be finally encouraged to do something now that her life isnt as eternal as before, or would she take the plunge and, yknow, end herself
Actually there is one thing that can slay divines, it's a magical scythe called the Divine Executioner! The Divine of Hate wielded it for a long time until Isaac yoinked it from him. Karenza also had it for a brief period.
There's a story in the series named after it, and the plot is about a divine who desperately wants to die.
Titania wishes for death, but it's hard to say what she'd really do if the scythe was presented to her. She's a type A personality being crippled by existential depression, so I think maybe that type A spirit would rear its head again. Instead of offing herself with it, she'd probably toss the scythe to Morgause and say "come get me, bitch".
Now she's presented with an actual threat, and it makes her appreciate life again. She has motivation to make the Seelie Court strong, to defend her from Morgause. It's all very petty and selfish and stupid, but then again, she's a Great Leader and such behavior is on brand for them.

Funny you describe the unseelie people sitting back and watching Morgause acting crazy? Aside from her husband beating and soul sucking what kinda antics is it that this crazy drau bitch gets up too?
Well, let me put it this way...
Imagine being a lowly monster. Nobody in the world likes you except your own creator. Your creator is not only a divine, but one of the oldest and most powerful ones on Gaia. One day you get a bug up your butt and decide, "You know what? FUCK this ho!" and declare war on your all-powerful creator.
You do not have the means to fight her. You have literally nothing because you just defected from her kingdom. The only reason you survive this action is because your creator loves and pities you, so she lets you go forge your own kingdom (with blackjack! and hookers!)
So now you have your own little kingdom full of other defectors, and you decide that there will basically be no laws in this land. You don't make this decision because you think it makes sense, but purely to spite your creator. Anything she does, you choose to do the opposite because screw that sanctimonious goody two-shoes!
Somehow you manage to seduce a different divine, and then you proceed to treat him like shit. You brazenly smack him around like a dog, call him names, and straight up murder him several times because you're emotionally volatile and don't handle stress easily. By that I mean, whenever someone disagrees with you about anything or tries to defy you in any way, you kill them and eat their soul.
These are all things Morgause has done. She's either dumb as a rock, has balls the size of Jupiter, or is completely insane. If you ask me, I think it's a mix of all three...
And that's only the beginning. She believes she's too cool for death, so she harvests souls from her own subjects to extend her life. She leads a weird death-cult called Necrom. She's known to raise hundreds of zombies and either make them fight or have giant disgusting orgies for her own entertainment. She practices cannibalism. She drinks elf blood because she believes it gives her special powers (it doesn't...). She's incapable of speaking at a normal volume and SHOUTS EVERYTHING SHE SAYS VERY DRAMATICALLY. She keeps endangered sprights as pets and tries to forcibly breed them. She resorts to violence with zero warning, often for no apparent reason. Death and mayhem makes her laugh.
She also has a massive hate-boner for Titania. Morgause spends almost every waking minute shit-talking her, plotting her assassination (despite the fact that she's a divine), and thinking up ways to torture her. Meanwhile Titania couldn't care less, regarding Morgause like an annoying fly buzzing around her face because she knows Morgause is not powerful enough to challenge her. Everyone knows this.
Everyone except Morgause, who seems to live in her own crazy-ass little reality. Titania just calmly lets her do her thing because of her guilt over creating the drau (and other faerys) in the first place. Titania knows she's too depressed and apathetic to take care of her own creations, so she's kind of pushed the responsibility towards Morgause, who is reveling in it as their queen.
TL;DR: Titania rules a kingdom full of crazy little monsters, but they’re all pretty sane compared to Morgause--who is the craziest little monster of all.

Here’s a what if scenario? What if either Titiana or Mourgause Died? Let’s say an incident happens with the divine executioner that results in either one of them permanently dying? What happens to the seelie/unseelie court upon their death? Could these great kingdoms survive and finally stop stagnating after the lose of their immortal ruler? Or will they fall to ruin and chaos quickly without them?
That's a good question. It's impossible to say what would happen because there are so many different possibilities, but I think the most likely outcome is that Green Witch would move in and attempt to take over.
Would she actually succeed? It's hard to say, because some Great Kingdoms would be attempting the same thing. Mogdir would definitely be moving in for a piece of that pie, and maybe Matuzu. The Aquarian Alliance might even take advantage of the situation and try to claim the costal territories.
While all this is happening, the higher-ups in Titania and Morgause's courts would also be scrambling to take the throne for themselves. Lots of internal strife and likely a civil war would break out no matter which court it was.
No matter the outcome, I guarantee either queen dying would lead to a massive years-long shitshow. It would not be pretty.

btw im loving morgouses redesign wip. shes giving 80s goth/glam rock. actually she reminds me of a villain from a saturday morning cartoon... if that villain was a husband beating bitch lol
Thank you so much, that's exactly the look I was going for! When I imagine Morgause, I imagine some wacky villain from an 80s cartoon. Big Rita Repulsa energy.
Her design is getting closer, but I still haven't quite nailed the vibe imo. I think she needs to be more ridiculous. All of the High Rulers will be getting redesigns eventually. Basically I just want to take all their features and crank them to 11 so they all look stupidly over-the-top compared to regular characters. I've been inching them in that direction over the years, but I still feel like they have a way to go before I'm satisfied.
I want to set these assholes so far apart from the common people that they don't even seem real, and you can tell they live in a different reality just by looking at them.
And I don't mean "different reality" as in a literal different world, but as in: they are so out of touch with normal people that they have no idea what it means to live like a real person. They each live a silly, artificial existence that only the ultra-wealthy can live. As a result I want them to be extra cartoonish, both in behavior and design.

If Morgause were to die then what would happen? Does she have a potential successor planned?
Good question! I don't think Morgause ever intends to die. She's been sucking the souls out of her subjects for thousands of years to keep herself trucking. At one point she named Reaper as her successor, but since he left her she kind of went nuts. Now she just intends to rule forever and refuses to appoint anyone after her, because if she does, there's a good chance they'll plot her assassination.
If she does kick the bucket, I imagine there's going to be a big, chaotic scramble for power among the highest members of her council. Those are her advisors, judges, high priests, and knights. They'll all fight for the throne, and the last one standing will be the one who ultimately takes it.

Do any of the other arseholes who rule the kingdoms (Chua, Gultopp, Qara, and Hethor,) have any other juicy secrets about them, like Oberon and Indiga have?
Definitely. I haven't developed them as much yet, but I think no royal family should be without some serious drama.
Qara Zareen is literally in bed with King Oberon Mogdir, who is supposed to be her enemy. She's also secretly funding eco-friendly tech development while she pushes a pro-industrial rhetoric. She actually wants to see her empire move into a "greener" direction in the long run...mostly because she bought a lot of stocks in solar and wind companies, but still. If her people knew she was spending their tax dollars that way, they would riot.
Here's a juicy one: Hethor Etios once got drunk and hooked up with her husband's brother, and now has one son who is the product of that. She told her people (and her own husband) that he died, then quietly sent him off to Folkvar Kingdom with a caretaker because she felt ashamed every time she looked at him. This kid lives a humble Folkvaran life and has no idea he descends from Etiosi royalty. However, his biological father knows the truth and he could expose everything if he felt so inclined...
Morgause of the Unseelie is a husband-beater. She was once married to the divine Reaper and he genuinely loved her, but she kinda just used him as a tool to gain false immortality. As a drau, Morgause herself is not capable of loving anyone. Reaper probably knew that, but he couldn't stop loving her anyway. There is more about this situation in Lost Scriptures of Love and Light, but in short, Morgause abused him terribly while they were together. She even murdered him once or twice in her uncontrollable rage, but there was little consequence since he was a divine. He just resurrected and continued to take her abuse. Eventually, Reaper realized his relationship was dysfunctional and escaped with Karenza's help...but he still misses his ex-wife, nasty as she is. She's gone through several marriages since he left, and all of them end in the death of her lover--usually at her hands. It's kind of an open secret that she's "vicious", but her people don't know the extent of how bad it really is.
Gultopp Folkvar has a nasty attitude towards the disabled. This isn't a secret, but what is a secret is that he actually has three children, not two like his people believe. His middle child has mental disabilities that are so profound, she functions on the same level as an infant despite physically being an adult. Now here's the extra fucked up part: Gultopp's public stance on the disabled is that they're a drain on society, a waste of resources, and anyone who cannot live independently just shouldn't live at all because it's not only cruel to society, but cruel to that individual as well. This is why there is no welfare in Folkvar Kingdom. If you're too disabled to work, good luck to you because the govt ain't gonna lend a hand.
Gultopp believes the most merciful thing to do to these individuals is to put them out of their misery. But is that what he did to his daughter? Nope...he locked her away in a secluded room of his castle, where only a few trusted caretakers are allowed in. He feels pity for this girl and buys her everything she needs, sparing no expense for her medical care. Who pays for all this expensive care? That's right...the taxpayers. The taxpayers who will never see a cent of welfare from him. And the cherry on top of this giant shit-cake? Gultopp himself is profoundly crippled. The man is missing an eye and has two prosthetic legs as well as a prosthetic hand. But because he can still move and talk and feed himself, he denies that he's a disabled person and considers himself totally able-bodied. Yet if he saw someone else in his condition, he would suggest that they do "what's best for the kingdom" and eat an axe. Homie's performing mental gymnastics every day of his life to reason his way around his own bullshit.
Marghan Matuzu is...god, where do I even start? He's got countless bastard kids all over the world because he can't keep his dick in his pants and he's not smart enough to use protection, he embezzles taxpayer money and spends it on the stupidest crap you can imagine, he's caused hundreds of thousands of GP worth of damage to his own city during his drunken escapades with his dumb friends, which...you guessed it: taxpayers paid for. The list goes on forever with this guy. There's a reason everyone wants him dead.

I feel extremely bad for those sprights. Is there anyway that the Unseelie could possibly help their population come back?
Ironically, the sprights would probably do really well if Morgause released them into Spriggan's Sanctum. They'd be under Green Witch's protection then, and the Courts couldn't bother them. They'd be living a lifestyle very similar to their traditional ones.
But Morgause won't do that, because it'd be like handing troops over to her enemy. She hates Green Witch and she'd rather chop off her own hands than give anyone anything that could be used against her.
