Since I started being part of the Sonic fandom and the Sonamy fandom i've noticed both of them had quite simmilar misunderstoods towards amy's character.

And it's... Amy never was created to be an "obssesive girl" "an obssesive fangirl" "an obssesive girl who only thinks about Sonic and nothing else"

And this is a consequence of the bad localization Sonic had in the West and how they didn't understand Amy's character, a girl who was created with many qualities japanese people love but the west considers it "weird", still affects her character to this day at this point we're many hear by mouth and mouth how Amy is but never had the thought of thinking "all of this is true?"

Thanks to this majority of western fans thought Sonic was always mad at Amy when in reality that was not the original intention and destroys all the concept of "obssesive" and "fangirl" were she cared for birdie and protected Gama from Sonic.

A girl who always tries to be better, helping people many wouldn't pay attention but she knows they need help.

A girl who is conscious she has to work hard than his friends with super powers

And Sonic being one of her main inspirations 'cause he represents what she wants to become: being free, going on your own having adventures, the excitement everything against the boring

And you would say "but in heroes she was an obssesive fangirl😭"

No, the fandom scaled the proportions and couldn't handle a single innofensive joke

Amy knew exactly exactly what she was doing telling him to "Marry him" as a joke. He would low his defenses and cause him to feel embarrassed and nervous 'cause she knows he's terrible at romance or i'm general, feelings

And many forgot that in the game Amy didn't know exactly why Sonic, Tails and knuckles we're together. In the beggining Amy saw Sonic in the paper and told us she hasn't seen Sonic in weeks and when she saw them thought they were just hanging out.

I'm talking about the girl who all the game supported,encouraging Cream and Big to rescue Chocola and Froggy and they needed someone as determinante, courageous as Amy who reminded her friends how brave they are

She even shows appreciation and love for the landscapes (just like Sonic)

"But- but in later games she was so obssesive and fangirl for Sonic 😭" Again bad localization for the west when in the original sources she was handled bit better than the West.

Also, Western has an obssesive to always point out the bad interpretations of female characters and saying why they are "the worst" "the most annoying characters" when at the same time try so hard to prove why this interpretation of a male character is not "bad enough" or "not the worst" and why even with bad characterizations he is still the best **cough****cough** Sonic and shadow respectively **cough****cough**

The character is not perfect, that's a reality.

She has strenghts and flaws that made her unique on her own. Her love for her friends (yes, this includes Sonic), the animals, the good and "Bad" robots and even characters who we're "devil"... She saw good, hope and love for them. She decides to help them being at their sides to show them there's always the option to chose a good path

She is the heart of all teams, she brings happines and hope to everyone. That's why all the cast loves and appreciates her and never refered to her like fandom does. That should tell you something

Personally I don't agree with the idea of "Amy is not an obssesive girl anymore and now she is a strong cute girl" when she has a l w a y s been a strong cute, bubbly, sassy, kinda bratty, compassive, energetic, silly girl but many think this is new when it's always been in front of you, you just decided to finally see the character and not prejuices

What Your Favourite Sonic Ship Says About You! (Part 1)

(Sonamy, Sonadow, Sonally) FULL DISCLAIMER: Shipping is a hot topic of debate, but this post is lighthearted fun! I'm a multi-shipper, I love most of these ships - and I can see why some people like the dynamics that I might not. This is not a bashing post, this is fun time. So, without further ado- Sonamy

You appreciate the simpler things in life. You decided to ship the protagonist with the main girl character just like 90% of all media writers, it's just what you're comfortable with. In terms of fanfiction tropes, do you happen to enjoy childhood sweethearts, meet-cutes, soulmates - that type of thing? I just had a feeling... Either way, you're just here for the cute vibes and the pining - and who can blame you? You probably really liked the fact that when you first came across the ship that it was the girl of the pair being the one so forward with her romantic feelings. But as time has gone on - you're either one of those people that really miss that side of Amy, or you're one of those that are so dang grateful they've toned her down. Either way, it's safe to say that this is one of the most vanilla of Sonic ships - and that's not an insult, vanilla is a good ice cream flavour. But no one is really going to fight you on your opinion other than the 5% of remaining toxic Sonally shippers, and those people that are somehow still living in the Sonic Heroes era. Sonadow

You saw that Sonic and Shadow's rivalry has been going on for far longer than 7 years, so it must be gay - and honestly, I can't fault your logic. You're a sucker for two disasters who can't express their feelings, and you have just determined that fighting is simply their love language. Even with Shadow's limited screen time in Prime, you suck every single dang crumb you're given like a vacuum. And by the way, you definitely have an Ao3 account - don't try and hide it. We already know you're a sucker for enemies/rivals to lovers... and I'd also wager you enjoy just-one-bed. Also you like that thing where characters constantly call each other by a nickname, and only end up calling them by their actual name during a confession scene or when one of the characters is seriously injured. I dunno, just had a hunch you'd like that sort of thing. You are debating between two sides of yourself - part of you wants Shadow's old characterization back where he was a more in-depth character and showed Sonic more respect, but part of you also loves how so damn obsessive Shadow is in modern games over Sonic and how much he wants to fight him - because that at least implies that Sonic is on Shadow's mind literally most of the time. But when all is said and done, this is vanilla when it comes to gay ships in the Sonic community. It's too damn easy, it's why it's the most popular Sonic ship on Tumblr. This ship was made for the LGBTQ+ community. Sonally

Opposites attract is your go-to, and it's been tried and tested - the formula works, I see it. You strike me as the person who really cares about canon material, and you tend to steer away from a lot of fanon. I also have a strong feeling you're a Sonic fan that's on the older side, back when SatAM and Archie were at their peak and considerably more popular. It's a ship with all the things you need to be happy - the characters have a deep, long-lasting bond, it's a sweet ship, and the two have constrasting personalities - so it doesn't get stale for you. You're probably into similar tropes as the Sonamy shippers - but you enjoy more drama and spice to your fanfics, and you won't shy away from angst - Archie loved its angst, I know you enjoyed that shit. You're either content with all the Sonally content you've gotten over the years, and will occassionally look at fanarts. Or you're one of those people who will not let the Archie comics go, you are still in denial - you are begging for Sally's return into the series and you're hoping now that Ian Flynn is writing for the games, that your dreams might just become a reality.

WAUGH okay so basically like everyone villainizes her when shipping Sonic with any other character (and 99% of the time its Amy being villainized against a m/m ship ://) but yeah Amy canonically has a "crush" on Sonic and stuff (which is weird in its self cuz age gaps and things but creators smh) and anyways any time people write Sonic in a relationship with other characters they always make her super upset and mad that Sonic isn't dating her etc etc and basically make her a pouting 12 year old because her super hero crush doesn't date her instead of writing her as a supportive best friend to sonic WHICH SHE SHOULD BE WRITTEN AS !!!! and uh yeah if you couldn't tell this makes me so upset because amy is such a good character people should stop ruining her

STOP MAKING HER HOMOPHOBIC!!! SHE WOULD NOT FUCKING SAY THAT!!!!!!!

sonamy isnt even real but people still hate her for her pink girl swag and crush on sonic. amy rose forever victim of girlhatred among sth fans. charm points: big hammer. cute. sillay. constantly in positions of power that make you go how is this 12 year old so responsible.

Relena Peacecraft

She made the mistake of having a crush on the serial killer/child soldier lead character, and also wearing pink. Like, she's one of the OG characters to have a "-bashing" tag on FFN and then AO3. The other half of the yaoi pair was a boy with a butt-length braid, a fake American name, and a priest outfit. Poor Ms Peacecraft never stood a chance.

Relena is a very competent and accomplished character with her own plot lines and goals in a series full of complicated political and military upheavals. The main characters are 5 teenage boys who pilot Gundams, and each boy has at least one potential female love interest counterpart (all of whom are interesting characters in their own right). Relena is the counterpart to the main pilot, Heero. Her importance to Heero and the story is substantial enough that yaoi shippers often feel the need to kill her off specifically, while other female characters get to play the roll of supportive fujoshi friend to the yaoi ships instead. The hate for Relena was truly vitriolic in the height of the yaoi fandom in the mid 90s/early 00s, so much so that the memories of her tortures live on in my memory to this day…

she suffers the indignity of being an implied LI in the most fujobait season of gundam ever and for that she had to die (in fanfiction) just look at any 1x2x1 fic on any platform, be it ffn or private website or anywhere, she gets vilainized to hell and back, if relena does not win this fuckign poll i'm goign to jump off a bridge she was villainised SO FUCKING HARD have you ever tried looking for any 1x2 fic that doesn't have relena bashing. it's impossible. she deserves a hefty victim's compensation from Big Yaoi is all i'm saying.

I don't really know how to explain this but I'll try. One reason I specifically don't like Prime is that everything feels like what I can only describe as "fandom-tailored". Like, have you ever had that moment when you look at a character, their design and how they act and you just have this gut feeling that they are almost artificially engineered to be the fandom's new blorbo or something. That's what I felt when I saw Nine and the Not-Metal Not-Sonic, for example, or heck, even Prime!Sonic himself. When I see people on twitter gushing about him going "omg so cutie patootie haha no thought head empty he is soooooo silllyy!!!" I just go "yep that's just about what I expected". Am I making sense?

You are, and yes. Again, my only knowledge of Prime is from some clips, but Sonic feels so... fanfiction-y. "The world has gone BLBLBLBLBLBLBL" that's not how Sonic talks! Oh, he has ~character development~? Which is exactly what fans want from Sonic? Next you'll tell me that he finally cries :^) I bet he will in a climatic moment, I'm calling it rn.

And, y'know, the Sonadow bait, because why not. (the Sonamy bait seems to have more meat to it, at least, but eh, I prefer more subtlety when it comes to them)

Movie Sonic, whether you like him or not, has the justification of 1) not pretending to be canon, and 2) technically starring a younger Sonic who is just learning how to be a hero. Prime Sonic is supposed to be the same from the games. Bro. I know Sonic. That ain't Sonic. Sonic is not an ADHD icon just like me fr fr. Be honest about it, please.

But aside from Sonic, things like Nine Tails (which was compared to an infamous fancomic already) and Apple Metal Sonic feel like they're trying hard to appeal to the average audience. Admittedly, the whole show feels catered to older kids/younger teens, which is why I feel I wouldn't enjoy it. Not that adults can't lmao, but it's... I don't know, I don't want to call it bad, but it's just not what I'd want from a Sonic product.

SonAmy - First flight

Sonic, Tails and Knuckles all have many stories about the heroic feats they achieved with the help of the Tornado. Since their first adventures they used the famous biplane to confront Dr. Eggman... but what about Amy? How and when was her first flight?

“Tails! Have you seen Sonic?”

Amy approached the Tornado, parked just outside the workshop. She travelled all the way to the Mystic Ruins in hopes of sharing a little picnic with the blue hedgehog. The calm and warm evening served as the perfect set up for a date; but thing is, he wasn’t informed at all!

She got no response, yet could still hear some mechanical noises coming from the Tornado. Frustrated, she left her picnic basket on the ground and started walking with leaden feet towards the plane.

“Tails, I asked you a question! No need to be so rude! Tails!”

But a different, unexpected figure rose from within the cockpit.

“Uhh, Tails isn’t here.”

“Sonic?!” She froze in place for a moment. “Oh, I’m sorry! I thought it was Tails ignoring me!”

She looked away for a moment, feeling a little embarrassed about the whole ordeal. Sonic was looking a bit rough and dirty from working all day inside the plane. He was even playing with a big wrench on his hand.

“Heh, nope. He left early and hasn’t returned... yet.”

Amy took an extended look at him, and the plane, then back at him.

“What... what are you doing, exactly?”

He chuckled. “Hey, I can take care of my plane on my own, do a little maintenance on it, y’know!”

She covered her mouth with her hands, only her eyes left visible, shining and excited as ever.

“Oh my gosh! Is it actually your plane?”

“Well, duh, of course it is!” He leaned over the side, pointing to the letters SONIC printed on the red fuselage. “See? My name, my plane. Tails just likes to use it more than I do, haha!”

“Oh, I see.” she looked away again, directly back at the basket she left behind. “Hey, I think you must be tired from working on that plane all day... wanna join me for a picnic?”

Sonic scratched the back of his head, a little hesitant.

“I... can’t right now. I need to test this baby and see if it’s working as intended and-”

He stopped himself for a second and kept staring at her, pouting with her arms crossed. Doing test flights alone is a perfectly fun routine, but her sole presence was enough to give him a completely new idea.

“Let me tell you something,” he asked with a smug look on his face, “how about you join me and test this thing together?”

Amy opened her eyes, shocked by the sudden proposition.

“Y-you mean f-flying together?” She blushed a bit. “I-I mean I’ve never flown in my life, but sure! I’d l-love to!”

Sonic jumped from the cockpit up on the wing, then extended a hand to her, smiling.

“Heh, then jump on!”

“What!? You mean o-on the wing? D-don’t you have another seat or something?”

“Nope, the wing is for passengers.” Sonic reassured her, then shifted his head to the horizon beyond the runway. “But don’t worry, the day is perfect for an evening flight, there’s almost no wind and we have another hour or so of sunlight. Not that I can’t fly at night... but I don’t like the look of those clouds in the distance.”

He pointed out a massive barrier of clouds still far away. She nodded and climbed on top of the wing, still a little unsure of this whole thing. She’s never been in the air, let alone standing on a wing, with nothing to hold her! Was it really safe?

Well, Sonic wasn’t too bothered about it - in fact, he was pretty excited! His face lit up with excitement as he returned to the cockpit, setting everything up for takeoff. After flipping some switches and checking everything, he raised a hand to his mouth, as if mimicking a real commercial pilot communicating through a speaker.

“Ok Ms. Rose, this is your captain and pilot of the day Sonic the Hedgehog speaking. We are just about to take off - time of day: 18 hours 39 minutes, temperature is... warm, I guess. We have a lovely sunny evening, with clouds in the distance potentially limiting the amount of air time we’re gonna get today. Hold on tight, as we don’t have seatbelts in the economic class, and please enjoy your first flight with Hedgehog Airlines. Captain out!”

She giggled through the entire speech, feeling excited as ever but at the same time scared of doing all of this for the first time. She kept her eyes on the runway ahead, standing in silence as Sonic kept flicking some switches and adjusting the stick.

Captain Sonic soon returned for take-off.

“This is Captain Sonic speaking again, we are taking off!” He said, while accelerating the plane. “This is standard procedure, so please bear with us as we reach optimum speed and...”

Amy panicked at the speed and movement of the plane. Sonic pulled the stick swiftly, and up they went!

“And we are in the air. Next destination: the Mystic Sea!”

Amy felt the rush of adrenaline kicking in as they were no longer on solid ground, but also struggled to find some stability riding on the Tornado’s wing. Sonic was right, there was little to no wind... when they were stationary. Now that they were cruising the skies at speed Amy quickly realized the challenge she was facing.

“Wah-ah! This is too fast!”

“Heh, you call this fast?” He chuckled, breaking away from his Captain character. “C’mon, don’t try to resist against the wind, just stand there and... open your arms to it!”

Amy stumbled a bit as Sonic leveled the plane to a stable height, flying further into open sea. She finally managed to find her footing, looked at the sunset... and stretched her arms as much as she could on both directions.

It felt great. She never felt as free in the wind as at that very moment. Opening her arms was like taking the role of the sail of a ship, free to be taken wherever the wind decided to. They were going fast, yes, but after facing her initial doubts and fear, she stopped caring about it.

She closed her eyes and let her head fall on her back, enjoying more than ever the warm sun and the fresh wind. Sonic looked up, watching her be so happy that he couldn’t help himself but to smile tenderly, reminiscing the first time he ever took to the skies, and how good it felt as well. It’s the small details like that, bursts of energy and happiness that sometimes get lost in everyday life, in doing the same thing repeatedly and losing that original spark in the process. He’s been flying all over the world for a while now, and it started to feel like regular business. But just at that moment, he remembered just how beautiful it should feel.

He kept smiling at her for a minute, then snapped back to reality. He wanted to have some fun now.

“This is your Captain Sonic speaking.” He interrupted her. “We are changing our route to go through the ever so impressive Mystic Crags! We’re gonna need the help of our passenger and her open arms to direct us to and through the crags. Buckle up because we’re about to start dancing!”

Amy looked at him over the shoulder, her arms still wide open and more confident than ever.

“Let’s do this.”

Sonic moved the stick north-wise, and pulled down bit by bit. In a matter of seconds, they were flying pretty close to the water and heading directly back to the coastline. Amy kept her eyes locked in the rocky and rugged terrain ahead, with tall cliffs that lead into the sea, followed right by the many, many crags sticking randomly along the shore, all in different shapes and heights. The entire place seemed like a bird’s training ground, twisting and turning between rocks and natural arches.

“Okay, time to test how this baby truly handles.”

Sonic gripped the flight stick with determination, his sights fixed on a tentative route around the crags at full speed, but keeping in mind he wouldn’t be able to do many tricks with a passenger on board.

No silly barrel rolls or anything like that today.

Amy felt the adrenaline rush reaching its peak as they approached the first set of crags. She focused on keeping a solid enough foothold as Sonic turned from left to right, up and down constantly. Both of them were so concentrated not a single word came out of their mouths through the entire show, just enjoying the adrenaline rush. First they raced past the rocky coast, then another lap through a different route, and another one... and after a while, a final grand tour around the entire place that culminated with them flying through a rocky arch and coming out high up in the sky again.

After such a rush, Sonic turned west right back to the sea, and both started laughing at the same time.

“That. Was. AWESOME!” Amy cheerfully exclaimed while looking at Sonic, jumping in place and then holding her hands close to her chest. “I wasn’t sure if I was excited, or scared, or pumped up, or everything at the same time! The wind felt great, then it felt so thrilling rushing by all those rocks at that speed! I hope you could’ve seen my face, I was so seriously concentrated the whole way through, haha!”

Sonic’s laugh slowly turned into a serious face of concern.

“Hmm...” He said to himself, “I don’t really like the look of those clouds...”

“Huh? What’s wrong, Sonic?”

“Uh, I mean-” He covered his mouth again and looked back at her. “This is your Captain Sonic speaking, I’m afraid we might have to go back to base earlier than intended, a storm is certainly coming soon and Tails wouldn’t like to have a soaked plane inside his workshop! Uhh... captain out.”

“Oh, right.” She looked up, watching as more and more clouds started forming right above them as the last rays of light tried to pierce through and the wind started getting a little rougher. “It’s a shame, really, but I understand. Let’s go home, captain~”

The last minutes of the flight were spent in a bittersweet silence.

On one hand they were having so much fun and were so happy everything turned out like it did; but on the other they weren’t able to stay for longer like that, being practically forced to return home. Risking flight in stormy conditions was strictly off the table for Sonic, and so they bid farewell to the crags, and then the sea...

Sonic landed the Tornado just outside the workshop gates, and he made sure to check everything before leaping out of the cockpit and back on solid ground.

He lended a hand to Amy, offering to help her jump off the wing, to which she nodded and grabbed it.

“That was so fun. Thank you, Sonic.”

“Thank you for flying with Hedgehog Airlines,” he joked one last time while putting one hand on his mouth and the other on the back of his head, “I’d appreciate if you rate your experience today with five stars.”

Amy smirked, then without a single doubt she jumped directly at him, hugging with more strength than usual.

“Oh, I’d rate you TEN STARS if I could!”

“Heh... ow, Amy, it’s fine haha, no need to... squeeze this much”

He slowly put both of his hands close to her back, barely touching her. Then he noticed the picnic basket she left earlier.

“H-hey, about that picnic...”

Amy let go of him, and reflected on the main reason she was there to being with.

“I... I don’t think we’ll be able to do it now.”

“Why not?”

“Well, the clouds...”

“It doesn’t have to be outside, though.”

Sonic winked at her. And her face instantly lit up.

“Oh, Sonic! You’re a genius!” Amy ran back to pick the basket, then pointed at the small door to Tails’ Workshop. “Shall we do it inside?”

He slowly walked towards the bigger hangar doors, smiling all the way through as Amy was about to open the other, smaller door.

“Yup. I’m gonna store the plane and join you in a super sonic second!”

“Oh! I’m so going to pick a movie to watch tonight!”

“Heh. It’ll be fun.”

Bonus: Ever wondered what happened to Tails? He actually came back home sometime after midnight, and wasn’t happy at all - he was completely soaked! Turns out the day wasn’t too kind for our lovely fox, and the storm that arrived earlier that night and never left did not help at all. At the moment he opened the door, all he wanted moment was to get inside his bed and not be disturbed by anything or anyone.

Yet, when he entered the workshop and passed through the living room, he found Sonic and Amy sleeping on the couch in front of the TV, Amy in particular resting on Sonic’s shoulder.

At first he didn’t pay too much attention to them, opting instead to walk upstairs to his room, but just as he was opening the door he had a change of heart. He silently pulled out a blanket from his bedroom and came back to cover them. Then, he turned out the TV, the lights and finally went to bed, smiling tenderly at the two on his way up the stairs.

Even after having a completely awful day, the sole sight of two of his best friends peacefully resting together was enough to warm his heart again and cheer up his night.

Hi!! I love your writing style (especially the recent works based on lyrics, thats super cool)! Anyway... could I request a fic based on the prompt "you have to be quiet, you'll get us into trouble!"?? Thanks a bunch!

You absolutely can! Sorry for the delay on this one, I was working on a few other projects and I wanted to be able to devote all of my attention to this when I finally sat down to write it. This one’s not explicitly romantic, but a solid friendship is the foundation of any relationship as far as I’m concerned.

I’m not really sure what this is - I’ll just blame it on the wild mood shifts and general mental health swings of the last few months and call it venting again - but I hope you like it, and that it’s not too different from my usual work.

Today’s song of choice is Owl City’s Shooting Star, by the way.

Weigh You Down Universe: Modern Word Count: 707 Words

The familiar sound of shouting and the smashing of metal could only mean one thing: Amy had beat him to this particular base. From the look of things, though, she'd gotten in over her head.

Groaning inwardly - he'd thought this would be easy - Sonic grabbed her wrist and pulled her through a door. The room was small and cramped - a supply closet, maybe? - but it was, blissfully, empty.

"What was that for?!" she exclaimed, glaring at him.

He covered her mouth with his hand, staring back with just as much intensity. "Keep it down, or they'll notice!" he whispered, nodding toward the door. "What do you think you're doing, Amy, running into a base like this on your own?"

Her voice fell to a whisper as he removed his hand to let her speak, but the low volume did little to ease the anger in her tone. "I was doing just fine, before you showed up!"

He frowned at her, unimpressed with her answer. "I never said you can't handle yourself. I asked what you were doing."

She considered his words, studying his face, before her own expression fell. "...Just venting, I guess. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have gotten mad at you."

"Venting, huh?" He paused, recalling the usual catalyst for moments like this. It always seemed to be his fault, somehow.

She must have sensed his thoughts, because she shook her head. "You didn't do anything, Sonic."

That was both reassuring and not. Reassuring in that he wasn’t at fault, but now he had no idea what it could be. "Then what is it?"

She looked away. "Just… Don't worry about it."

Realizing that he was still holding her wrist, he shifted so he was holding her hand - a simple, silent gesture of support. "Can't help it. So care to tell me what, exactly, I'm worrying about?"

"I just… Don't feel like I'm good enough," she admitted quietly. "Like everything I do to help, someone else does it better." She looked up at him, and he squeezed her hand, encouraging her to continue. "Like... I'm fast, but not as fast as you. I'm strong, but not as strong as Knuckles. See what I mean? It's like I'm only ever good enough for second place."

He hummed in acknowledgement of her words. Finally, after weighing them in his mind, he spoke. "You're looking at it all wrong."

"Huh?"

"You're better than you're giving yourself credit for. It's not like you to doubt yourself, either... What brought this on?"

She muttered something that he couldn't quite make out.

"Repeat that? Little louder, this time." She did, again, but he still couldn't understand it. "Actually, you know what? It doesn't matter who said it. What's important is that you know they're wrong," he told her, pulling her into a hug.

"I thought you weren't much of a hugger?" she teased.

He snorted in response, happy that she was feeling at least a tiny bit better. It wasn't so much that he wasn’t a hugging person - though he wasn't, generally speaking, there were certainly exceptions - than the simple fact that he needed to breathe and she had an iron grip. "You looked like you needed this."

"...Thank you," she sighed, leaning against him without any of that characteristic death grip. It was honestly kind of nice, if not for the situation at hand. “I think I did.”

"Listen, you're the best at what you do. I'm fast. Knux is strong. Tails is smart. Every one of us is good at something… Including you. Remember when you threw yourself between me and that robot, back on the Egg Carrier? You believed the best in both of us. You can see the good in anyone, you know? That's something special."

"...Do you really think that?"

"I do," he assured her, letting go. She kept clinging to him, but he couldn’t bring himself to care enough to say anything. "So you don't have to charge into an Eggman base on your own to prove yourself, alright? Let's go take those bots out. Together."

She finally let go of him, and when he looked her in the eye he saw a familiar smile. "Okay! Let's do this!"

Fictober Prompt #1: "I Need You."

She just grabbed a necklace to wear with her dress, when she suddenly heard a knock on the door, followed by an uncertain, “Hey, Ames?”

Amy froze. The voice was a bit muffled from the other side, but the pink hedgehog recognized it instantly. What was Sonic doing here? Shouldn’t he have been with the other boys in the other room down the hall getting ready with Silver? And didn’t they know the girls would have been even busier still with Blaze?

Getting those two ready for their wedding, with 15 minutes to go, was serious business, and as Blaze’s maid of honor, Amy needed to make sure everything went off without a hitch. This was a ROYAL wedding, after all; every little last detail had to be perfect.

“I need you…”

That voice again. That nervous tone of voice was rather uncharacteristic of her blue hero. He hadn’t said he NEEDED her before. Not like that. What was going on that shook him up like this?

“Can you help me out, please?”

Her curiosity clearly getting the better of her, she was left with no choice but to open the door and meet him there. “Hey…”

“Hey, Amy, I--whoa.”

What she noticed first was Sonic himself, a total mess in his unbuttoned, untucked white shirt and black jacket, complete with a matching set of pants. Even his signature red shoes were nowhere to be found, replaced by a pair of black ones. Clearly, he was not used to wearing these sorts of clothes at all, and despite how uncomfortable he seemed, she still found him undeniably handsome, as always.

Still, she had to stifle back a laugh at his wide eyes and slacked jaw upon watching her walk through the door. Clearly, he liked what he saw, and who could blame him? Amy and the rest of the bridesmaids agreed that the lavender dresses with the lace-up backs that Blaze picked out for them were gorgeous. “Uh...Sonic?”

It took waving her hand in front of his face for him to finally realize what he was doing. Laughing nervously as he calmed down, he held up one of his hands in front of her, which contained a silver necktie. “Sorry,” he answered, a slight tinge of pink spreading across his face as he looked away sheepishly. “Silver wanted us to wear these, and I have no idea how to put this thing on…”

She looked at the necktie, and back at the blue hedgehog before her. So THAT’s why his suit is so messy. “Have you asked anyone else?”

“I would’ve asked Tails, but he didn’t know, either.”

“Okay...um...” She shrugged. “What about Silver? He could help you with his psychokinesis, right?”

“He’s busy helping Gardon get ready.”

“Knuckles?”

“He’d have even less of a clue than I do. And Shadow? Forget it.”

She raised an eyebrow, smirking. “You mean to tell me the Ultimate Life Form doesn’t know how to tie a tie?”

“Oh, he knows. I just don’t trust him to tie mine. He’d probably try to choke me or something.”

“Well, we can’t have that, can we?” she chuckled, as she held out one of her hands. “Okay, I’ll help you.”

The blue hedgehog handed her the tie. As she straightened it out, she noticed the wrinkles in it, coming from the way he was gripping it before. “How many times have you tried to do this?”

His eyes narrowed. “You don’t want to know. The point is, it was annoying. See why I never wanted to do these kinds of things back when we were kids?”

“Yet here you are, a groomsman for Silver and Blaze’s wedding.”

“Listen, it was the right thing to do to say yes when he asked me,” he answered. “Didn’t think he’d make us wear neckties, though. Why not bowties? At least bowties are sorta cool…”

“Hey.”

She put a finger to his lips. “Don’t overthink it. It’s just ‘over, under, pull’. Let me show you.”

All that was left for Sonic to do was watch Amy start wrapping the tie around his neck and let her fingers fiddle around with it. “Over…”

As he watched her fold one end over the other, he had to wonder: where did she learn to do this? Did Vanilla teach her how? Or had she taught herself? “Under…”

She’d sure grown a lot since that day they met at Never Lake all those years ago. She was only 8 years old then, and he was...what, 11? Back in those days, she would chase him around non-stop and hug him so tightly he felt like he would explode. Now, they were 20 and 23, respectively, and HE was the one running to HER so she could (gently) fix his tie.

Standing so close, there were a few things about her that Sonic noticed. Her fingers still remained as small and slender compared to his throughout the years, that ear-to-ear smile on her face still just as charming, those jade eyes still so bright and full of wonder. He wouldn’t have minded her staying here for the next hour, watching her do something so simple, so intimate as helping him put on something fancy to wear, like a silver necktie. Or, perhaps, her off-the-shoulder lavender dress with the lace-up back that perfectly accentuated every curve that Sonic didn’t even know she had until today. Still, it looked like the back wasn’t laced up the right way, and from the front, the dress seemed a bit too plain. Perhaps a necklace could spruce it up a bit...

“I hope I didn’t pull it too tight.”

He looked down only to find that her hands were gone, but a perfectly tied necktie lay in their place. “It’s perfect! But...” He looked back up at Amy. “I think there’s something else that needs to be done…”

“Like what?”

He blushed once more as he asked, “Can you turn around? Oh, and...you might want to hold still for a minute.”

Slowly, she did as she was told. “...Okay?”

The pink hedgehog stood there for a few seconds, turned toward the closed door, waiting for something to happen. Suddenly, she felt the back of her dress loosen as a pair of hands adjusted the ribbon. To her shock, she gasped as she put two and two together:

Sonic the Hedgehog, her only crush since she was just 8 years old, had bent down to his knees and was loosening the back of her dress. “What are you doing?!” she whispered harshly, her own face turning a very deep shade of red.

She could practically hear the smug little grin on his face as he answered, “Returning the favor. Who laced this thing up, anyway? Was it you?”

How much more embarrassing could this get? “Yes,” she replied, begrudgingly. “But don’t even think about loosening it all the way. You let this dress slip off me, and you’re a dead hog.”

He simply laughed. “Ames, relax. It only got wonky about halfway down. That’s as far as I’ll go.”

She breathed a sigh of relief. Meanwhile, the blue hedgehog started tightening the purple ribbon as he finally re-looped it through the right places, until he suddenly let them loosen again. “Hm.”

He suddenly stood back up right behind her, still holding the ribbon in one hand. Looking back up at Amy, he smiled, and pressed his free hand against her lower back, where the ribbon hadn’t crossed. “It works better if you stand up straight,” he said, his voice a little quieter this time.

If her face could get any redder, then it certainly did. “...Okay,” she whispered, less harshly.

He laughed softly. “Good.”

They stood there, wordlessly, as she felt his fingers brush lightly against her back every so often, weaving the purple ribbon back and forth. After some seconds, she heard him mumble the word, “Over…”

She should have seen this coming. He had cleverly used her own words against her back from when she tied his tie. Sonic from 12 years ago would have never done this. He was too shy to even talk much back then. “Under…”

Before long, she felt the ribbon tighten as he tied the last of it into a neat bow. “That tight enough?”

Amy turned back around, swishing the skirt of her dress back and forth, spinning around a few times to see how it held up. The blue hedgehog in front of her couldn’t help smiling as he watched her do a few twirls. “Much better,” she said, her hand reaching for the door handle. “Thanks for--”

“What’s that in your hand, Ames?”

She froze as she remembered the little silver accessory in her hand. “Oh. Right. My necklace. I almost forgot--”

He held out a hand. “May I?”

As quickly as it left, that warm, flushing sensation that effortlessly spread across her cheeks had returned for the third time today as she handed over the necklace. “Sure, why not?”

She turned back around, holding up some of her quills for his hand to place said piece of jewelry around her neck. As soon as she felt the clasp fasten, she heard him say, “Okay, turn around one more time? I wanna make sure it doesn’t look bad.”

Slowly, the pink hedgehog turned around to face him. The distance between them was miniscule, a few inches, at best, but neither of them seemed to mind. All she could look at was Sonic, grinning from ear to ear. “Why are you smiling like that?”

“I know it’s bad to say something like this, but if you ask me…’

That smile only grew bigger as he leaned his head forward for a closer look. “...I think Blaze might not be the only girl at the wedding with all eyes on her today.”

Amy was stunned by this last remark, looking up at him with wide eyes. Was Sonic the Hedgehog saying that she was pretty? In a stunned whisper, she asked incredulously, “You do?”

He nodded, his own green eyes never leaving hers. “I do.”

The distance between them slowly grew smaller, their eyes closing as they inched forward to meet each other halfway, eagerly anticipating what was to come next, when suddenly:

“Sonic!”

Their heads immediately snapped toward the source of the voice shouting out for the blue hedgehog in question. It was Espio, Silver’s best man. “We’re headed down to the courtyard. Let Blaze and the other girls know so we can meet them there for the ceremony.”

He sighed, clearly annoyed by the interruption. “We’ll be right down,” he yelled back, his eyes briefly glancing across the hall before returning back to Amy’s. “Back to business now, huh?”

“Yeah. You go down there,” Amy said, shooing Sonic away. “I’ll rally the girls and we’ll see you all there.”

“Hey.”

She felt his hand grab hers one last time. “Save some slow dances for me at the reception?” he asked. “Pick up where we left off?”

He winked. For once, Amy didn’t blush. Instead, a knowing smile crept across her muzzle as she replied, “Wouldn’t miss it.”

💙 Ship that you used to have as an OTP

From 2011 to 2015, I was a huge SonAmy fan. I wrote fanfictions about them, created AMVs of them, spent my free time searching for fanarts of them… So eventually I grew sick of it, especially when Sonic Boom began airing. By the time I became a multishipper, I found myself liking SonAmy the least: I do really like them as friends who sometimes casually flirt, but nothing more than that.

Thing is, it’s easy for me to pair Amy with many different characters because she can complement and contrast a lot of them in interesting ways, and I could see her eventually settling down with someone. Meanwhile I can’t imagine Sonic in a romantic situation to save my life, unless it is for shit and giggles (first crush scenarios with him are hilarious). So pairing them together feels weird to me now, even if it’s obviously a personal thing.

It’s nice when they do, but I don’t trust SEGA/Sonic Team to even get basic character personalities or halfway coherent worldbuilding right these days. Do you think I trust them about the characters’ ages?

Hell, I haven’t trusted them about that since at least Sonic Adventure. The official bios can say Amy’s 12 all they want, she acts and is written like a somewhat immature young adult. Modern Sonic’s always pinged as 19-20ish to me. If Rouge the renowned spy is under 25 I will die laughing. And don’t even get me started on how Shadow can probably claim at least three different ages completely legitimately.

Like it’s fine if you want to be more canon-compliant about it. Go for it. Just leave people who don’t buy that alone.

Come on. Whether or not we have good reasons to - and IMO we do, SEGA is many things but consistent ain’t one of them - it’s fanfiction. Divergent AUs and ignoring canon when we think it’s being silly is how a lot of fans have fun. Especially in this riotous fandom with its over ten different divergent canons.

The Sonic Twitter Takeover and Sonadow

I was originally going to make an angry rant about this subject because I seriously have some anger issues I need to figure out, but I’ve since cooled down with a hot cup of tea and decided to try and come at this from a level-headed point of view.

So on Friday, there was a Twitter Takeover where Mike Pollock, Roger Craig Smith, and Kirk Thornton responded to people’s questions on the Sonic Twitter as Eggman, Sonic, and Shadow respectively. Most of the responses were well received and generally found to be funny, but a couple responses have caused some people to become upset. I just thought I’d try and explain what went on for everyone who is either upset, upset that people are upset, or just completely and utterly confused as to what’s happening. I’d also like to say what I think about this situation.

First of all, here are the responses I was referring to:

I’ve decided to also type down exactly what the characters said in those Tweets so everything is clear and easy to understand for everybody.

First Tweet

Shadow: Oh, this is a good one. At JoannaWhiteRose asks, “to Sonic, I have a challenge for you. Tell me how much you like Amy, and what you like in her.”

Eggman: Oh yeah, Sonic, tell us what you like about that other hedgehog, Amy.

Sonic: No, no, guys can we j- c-can we just not do this right now. I mean- I mean there’s lots of other questions like-

Shadow: (In an incriminating tone) What Sonic? Are you embarrassed?

Eggman: (Laughs) He’s totally embarrassed. Oh! I just got a message here from Infinite. It’s a file called, “Son-a-dow”

Sonic: (Urgently) No don’t open that!

Second Tweet

Eggman: Cassidy12 0 5 ... that’s a lot of numbers now, asks, “Shadow, what do you think about, Sonadow.”

Shadow: One word Cassidy, “No.”

In the first Tweet, Shadow and Eggman make fun of Sonic by accusing him of being embarrassed, then Eggman gets sent the file titled, “Sonadow”. Sonic immediately tells him to not open the file in an urgent tone. During the entirety of the response, it can be guessed that Sonic was extremely embarrassed, given the way he was talking, and likely became more embarrassed when Eggman received the Sonadow file since he already knew what Sonadow was, and Shadow was standing next to him.

In the second Tweet, Shadow is simply asked what he thinks about Sonadow, and he replies simply, “No.” He doesn’t say much(duh) but it can be guessed that he doesn’t like Sonadow. And again, he was standing right next to Sonic.

It can be easily seen that these Tweets share a common theme of Sonadow being brought up, and a character displaying a negative reaction to it. From what I’ve seen, what has most people upset is the fact that Sonadow is a gay ship, and the fact that the characters respond negatively to the mention of it can insinuate a negative opinion on being gay in general. Another reason I’ve seen for people being upset about these Tweets is that the characters’ negative responses to Sonadow can insinuate a negative opinion on the ship itself.

I’d like to mention that the voice actors likely did not have much to do with the creation of the responses they gave. As Aaron Webber said in this Tweet: “We have teams reading, writing, recording, editing, and finally responding for every tweet we post.” Mike Pollock, Roger Craig Smith, and Kirk Thornton were likely handed a script that a team of writers wrote and had little say in what their responses would be.

Now that I’ve said that, I’d like to get to what everyone’s been saying, that those Tweets were homophobic and/or against Sonadow shippers. Keep in mind that I’m only discussing those two Tweets and that I’m trying my best to see things from everyone’s point of view.

Alright. Do I think those Tweets were homophobic?

No. In order for something to be homophobic, it has to show a dislike or prejudice against gay people, and nowhere do I see anything along those lines. All the discomfort the characters show is for the ship Sonadow, which, while it is a gay ship, I don’t believe that fact is the reason the characters are showing discomfort. The most likely cause for Sonic and Shadow’s dislike of the ship is that they are a part of it. From their points of view, they are being shipped with their rival, who is standing with them in the current moment. From personal experience, it is extremely embarrassing and uncomfortable when people talk about you and your friend being romantically involved, especially if you’re uncomfortable with the idea of romance in general, which Sonic and Shadow likely are.

Now, I understand why people would think these Tweets are homophobic. Sonadow is a gay ship after all, and out of all the questions they could have answered, they chose two Sonadow questions to answer and wrote the characters having a negative response to them.

One, I believe that they shouldn’t have chosen any shipping related questions to answer, especially any related to LGBT ships since they are an especially touchy subject for people. The shipping community can get very heated, and I think it would be best if they didn’t mess with it, for both their sakes and the community’s. But, I doubt they had any ill intentions by picking those questions to answer. It’s most likely that they saw those questions as an opportunity to make a joke that Sonic fans could laugh at, and didn’t think about how it could be negatively received.

Two, I don’t believe these Tweets show they have a negative opinion of gay people at all. The negative responses that Sonic and Shadow gave were likely written like that to keep them in character, and I’d bet that if one of them was a girl and Sonadow was a straight ship, they still would have responded the same way since their discomfort wasn’t about Sonadow being a gay ship. I do understand that many people are very connected to this ship, but I doubt that any of the writers meant to personally attack them, or anyone who is gay.

Next. Do I think those Tweets were against Sonadow shippers?

Again, no. Not really. I mean, the Tweets only consisted of the characters reacting to questions. Of course they’d react negatively. Imagine knowing that thousands of people on the internet draw pictures of you and your friend kissing(and doing other stuff). Wouldn’t that make you at least a little uncomfortable? Well, I guess for some people it wouldn’t, but for a lot of people, it would. I think Sonic and Shadow’s reactions made sense for their characters given the situations they were in.

I guess you could say that responding to Sonadow questions negatively at all is where it could feel like they’re against shippers, but again, I’m betting that they just chose those questions because they saw an opportunity to make a joke for the fans to enjoy. Nothing malicious. It’s like one of those things where the characters portrayed don’t necessarily represent the views of the people running the whole thing.

Also, making jokes about certain ships is not something new that they’ve done. They’ve made fun of Sonic’s relationship with Elise many times in the past, and Sonic has constantly been shown to dislike Amy’s advances towards him. Heck, there was an episode of Sonic Boom (Spoilers for “The Biggest Fan”)that parodied Stephen King’s Misery where Sonic was held hostage by a crazy fan named Mark the Tapir and forced to read his fanfiction with him. One of the fics that was brought up was a Sonamy fic, which Mark said he didn’t like but felt was “obligatory in the genre”. I doubt that in any of those cases they meant personal offense to any Sonic fans that enjoyed those ships and only wanted to make lighthearted jokes.

In conclusion

I don’t believe those Tweets were homophobic, and they were likely not intended to be seen as personal attacks on Sonadow shippers or gay people.

Yes, Sonic and Shadow probably don’t like the idea of Sonadow, but considering that it involves people drawing and writing them being in romantic situations together, it’s understandable why they feel that way. And that has nothing to do with the ship being gay since they would have likely reacted the same way for any ship they’re involved in gay or not. Also, I don’t believe that their opinions are definitely shared by the people who wrote them.

Those questions were likely chosen to be answered because it was an opportunity to make jokes and have fun, but I feel like it wasn’t a good idea to pick them due to how intense the shipping community can be and the fact that it’s easy to offend someone when dealing with LGBT subjects.

Overall, I think a lot of people could have handled this situation better. The Sonic Twitter shouldn’t have dipped its toes into Sonadow or shipping in general since shipping is a very personal subject for many people, and some Sonadow shippers could have taken the Tweets a little less personally since it isn’t likely that the Sonic Twitter would try and attack its fans.

And whether you ship Sonic with Shadow, Amy, delicious chili dogs, or all of the above, as long as you’re being nice and not hurting anybody, don’t let anything stop you from having fun.

Shadow, easy. Sonic and Eggman too... and Amy... and Tails... yeah pretty much everyone... but poor Shadow is the unfortunate victim of being hugely popular and hugely misunderstood due to inane takes that spread like wildfire.

Shadow is not an edgy boy (okay his game pushes it). Shadow is not a poow widdle blorbo who only needs to cry. Shadow did not suffer like a dog on the ARK. Shadow is not "Vegeta". Shadow does not monologue about who he is and what he thinks (neither does Sonic btw, coughcoughidwcough). There should be a law that you cannot analyze Shadow's character if you haven't at least read his script in Sonic Battle.

Well, I used to dislike Shadow precisely due to his popularity, but nowadays I've warmed up to the guy. He's cool. Just... I don't get the hype.

I guess Surge is a better example. She's very annoying in canon, but what really ruins her is the amount of adoration she garnered. Y'all like her simply for the aesthetic, I checked, because she has a pitiful amount of fanfictions that actual star her as a character. (one of them is mine, and I don't even like her. Just sayin'.)

Oh, and I will never be objective about Sage. Sorry. She's bland and on her own inoffensive, but her association with Eggdad ruined her for me.

Hmm. To be fair I mostly like popular characters. I'd say that now I like Elise much more than I used to, but then again she's becoming more popular. So... Infinite, maybe? I like the dude, he's both cool and pathetic and I have no idea how he manages to do that. Sick theme too. And he's voiced by Liam O'Brien and his horniness for violence shows :'D

And you know what? Zor. Zor is the funniest of the Deadly Six. He's self aware and that elevates him. Y'all are too mean to the Deadly Six in general, but Zor is the one who deserves it less.

Frontiers. I swear that that story is completely useless, nothing happens except getting beaten over the face with pointless references and Ian Flynn self-sucking over how better he is than Pontaff, no I'm still not over "then I'm wildly inconsistent" :') and while '06's story is better because at least shit happens (until the game erases itself from existence), it's still a dull, boring, confusing mess to sit through, especially in English because they all sound bored out of their skull.

Frontiers :') at least, even though I don't like SA2, I can understand why it's so popular. I can even understand why people nowadays are warming up to '06. With the exception of some cute Sonic/Knuckles interactions, I can't find a thing to like about Frontiers' story.

Some of the endings of ShTH, especially the Dark ones. I think they brim with potential :)

Hey, maybe this topic is from many days ago but what's wrong with the age difference between two minor hedgehogs (amy and sonic) ? It's just that I don't understand where is the wrong thing between this ship, even if the user thinks he/she is the police of morality

Heh, I said I wouldn’t touch that can of worms again, but what the heck, I’ll give it another shot:

Age arguments in the Sonic series in general are a bit of a weird topic to tackle, since the characters change so much and are (probably) never adressed by their age in-universe. I remember discussing this last year, and mentioning how I think the age discussion is silly at best.

Thing is, Sonic characters in their anthropomorphic representations tend to be beyond just the arbitrary age, their personality traits represent the approximate age bracket for us to reference (or relate, for younger fans), but not even Sonic Team really care all that much about the ages; look at the times they celebrated Sonic’s birthday, or some of the bs like Tails being 8, in recent games he’s been acting a lot more like he’s about to or already hit puberty (that’s a joke I made when I first heard Tails in Sonic Lost World, btw), not a little kid. But I digress.

When it comes to shipping there are some creepy boundaries that shouldn’t be crossed, I totally agree, but in this case the characters’ own traits are enough to judge whether a ship is acceptable or not. You wouldn’t dare to ship Cream with anyone because you can see she’s just a little kid surrounded by the rest of the cast that clearly are in a different mindset altogether, doesn’t matter if she’s 6 or 8 or 5, it’s creepy to think about her in that way. On the other hand, you don’t see many people making the argument Shadow, a hedgehog of unspecified age, looking like a 15 year old hedgehog with at least 50 additional years of stasis, shouldn’t be shipped with Amy; they are mostly interested in the personality traits of each and the way they could work together. Same happens with the small crowd that ships Sonic and Rouge, technically that’s a gap you wouldn’t allow in real life (15 to 18), but in this universe the fandom doesn’t seem to care that much. (And don’t even forget about Sonails.)

To police SonAmy with such dedication speaks a lot more of the person’s own inability to cope with the existance of the ship rather than a deep-rooted problem within said ship. With my friends here we’ve discussed the SonAmy dynamics and how they go beyond even the in-game representations, or SEGA’s changing intentions over the years and across America (working more closely with the established Archie canon for a long time) and Japan (focusing on culture-specific ways of representing SonAmy as a couple in their own way.) The discussion runs a lot deeper than just this arbitrary age gap (look at the way Forces!Amy acts and talks and tell me “she’s 12″, or Boom Amy being the same age as her canon counterpart, even Cindy Robinson herself said Amy was 17 in Boom, go figure), yet people still stick to that age argument and try to shame others by citing morality.

Sonic Team created Amy as the love interest with certain caveats (never to be confirmed, constantly chasing after Sonic, lots of teasing, Sonic’s secret feelings on the matter only being hinted), and to this day SEGA loves to sell SonAmy stuff all over their stores. In recent years they’ve done a lot that could be seen as “closing the gap” between the two characters, and because of that modern (as in, current) SonAmy is a whole different beast than in previous decades. We the fans aren’t forcing a thunderstorm in a clear sky, we’re actively playing into SEGA’s marketing game of supporting a pairing they created and constantly nod and wink at it but don’t want to officially confirm, and we like it that way, and they support it as long as it brings attention, keeps community engagement high and drives sales up.

It’s not a case of morally wrong age gap. It’s the way the franchise was set up and has been running for three decades. And if you want to reject and ignore that part of the franchise it’s fine, if you want to stay with your favorite ships and make your own fanon it’s also fine, but don’t act like the voice of reason and morality when fans won’t hear you over the sound of the pencils drawing art and writing fanfiction, and SEGA won’t hear you over the sound of the money the pairing makes them. Or do you think SEGA would’ve allowed “Sonic & Amy Forever” merchandising to exist if they had real legal concerns over the morality of the pairing? Pfft.

1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?

Sonamy.

Maybe “not get” is stretching it, cause I can see why it would appeal to others. But for me personally, it is such a massive bore of a pairing. If I had to keep it abridged, the three biggest reasons for my apathy on it are:

1. The dynamic doesn’t interest me. Amy’s behaviour mostly consists of hoping that Sonic-senpai will notice her, and then maybe getting angry if he doesn’t. Sonic’s behaviour mostly consists of “oh um maybe I like you or maybe I don’t but let’s keep milking it lol” tsundere rubbish. This dynamic has long gotten old for me.

2. Despite it’s popularity, I think it’s rarely handled that well, whether in official works or fanfiction. In Sonic X in particular, Sonic’s personality was often tampered with so that he could act like Generic Anime Protagonist in Amy’s presence. Even in episode 52 - the one all the shippers love - it didn’t even feel like Sonic and Amy to me. It could have been any random male and female, and I doubt it would have been any different. (Also, Sonic’s comments about never leaving Amy’s side rubs me the wrong way when very shortly beforehand, he was seriously considering staying with Chris on Earth at the expense of leaving all of his own friends behind.)

3. I feel the potential of the pairing hasn’t actually done much to deserve it’s immense popularity and relentless teasing. Yes, I know romance has never been a main priority of the series anyway (or at least it isn’t meant to be), but what I mean by that is how compared to, say, the chemistry between Sonic and Blaze in the Rush games, I don’t feel the chemistry between Sonic and Amy has done much to warrant it’s popularity other than predestined “he’s the main male protagonist, and she’s the main female protagonist, and therefore they MUST be together” reasoning.

Silvaze is another pairing that I’m not keen on at all, due to how I never cared for Silver and Blaze’s relationship in the first place, partly because of how it required changing Blaze’s backstory entirely in order for it to work.

Wait it just hit me. I know you’re a Sonamy fan but what are your thoughts on Knuckles x Rouge? Do you have any other ships? :o

Hey! SonAmy might be the most popular thing both of my blogs offer, but it isn’t the only thing I ship! Of course I do have more to say about other pairings :P

For example, I do love Knuxouge, and as I was saying the other day, their SA2 arc is probably the part I like the most from that game. I want to see more teasing and stuff from them, but unlike SonAmy it’s not something I actively crave for. But that ship is still going strong, as recently as TSR at least.

Other pairings for Sonic would include Blaze and even Sally for me. I know, I know, I did blast Sonally to Mars and back both here and on SHP, but toxic characterization aside, I do like that ship under certain conditions and arcs (for example, SatAM Sonally is pretty harmless imo.)

And on the topic of Blaze the Cat, I do like shipping her with either Sonic, Amy or Silver. They’re all nice pairings on their own, with Silvaze leading the charge for me because of the whole “I don’t remember you but I feel like we have a strong connection from elsewhere” (which is a recurring hint I’d like to see further explored once and for all, Sonic Team .-.)

And before I forget, Whispangle is soooooooo cute, I genuinely love it <3

Now, you probably are wondering “where does Shadow fit in all of this?”, thing is, he doesn’t. I always liked to think Shadow isn’t really into anything beyond strictly platonic; it’s not like a “love makes you weak” situation or anything like that, it’s just that I don’t see him interested. He has his friends (yes SEGA Shadow has friends and you can go about changing that part of canon as you please, write your own damn fanfiction if you want but don’t mess with that canon), he does deeply care for some of them (like Rouge, and I’d like to say Amy to some extent), and he’s perfectly fine like that.

Oh, silly me! I almost forgot about Tails! Well, Tails and Cream never really made it for me, not even when aged up and their personalities changed considerably. That’s why I liked Zooey so much back when Boom first introduced her (that whole joke with Tails’ tails suddenly spinning when he saw her was funny 5 years ago, I have to admit), but just like the entire Sonic Boom universe, she never went... anywhere... and it’s kinda sad. Finally, I have to adress the elephant in the room: Tailsmo. Uhh... I never thought too much about it, not even during my peak childhood days that I used to ship everything that Sonic X had to offer. I’m fine with it existing, and I’m fine if everyone forgets about it. I like to think that Tails taking care of that plant that reminds him of Cosmo, hoping that one day they’ll meet again, but still grateful for all the short memories. It’s the only bittersweet thought I have for him.

Welp, that turned out to be quite a lenghty answer, whoops. Did I satisfy your curiosity? What do you think about some of the ships I mentioned? :P

(btw the real mvp of this blog is rayllum, and it’s not even a sonic ship, but i’m madly in love with just how wholesome it is)
