Lol there’s a massive outage of different systems at my work (like, atlassian with all our project management tools and stuff, but also the platforms which we use to enter new claims and track them and stuff, and our annoyingly separate platform for policies, etc) for the past two days (really long time for such an outage). I’m seeing on Reddit where people were posting about layoffs and stuff, that there’s speculation that this coincides with the switchover date for laid off engineers leaving and outsourced engineering company starting…
Anyway, someone who uses one of my key views sent an email to someone high up in engineering, to say “the claim counts for the past couple days are really low” and she just said “Meredith owns that data view” so then he asked me and I was able to confirm okay yep, it’s (super predictably) related to the outage, a lot of people can’t enter new claims, and all the ones that are entered show NULL for operating company because they can’t be linked up to their policy which is where we get opco.
So, you know, happy to help - but shouldn’t an engineering director see that and immediately be like “oh yeah claim counts will be low since claim center is down.” 🤔🤔🤔
Anyway, dutifully made a post about it in Teams just in case anyone else can’t put two and two together (jk jk it probably needed to be said) and now, to nap guilt free* since almost everything I need to do my job is completely fucked!
*after having taken my personal max dose of Xanax to quiet the guilt which otherwise would be screaming even though I literally can’t do anything. Like, not even stupid training videos cause the system they are on is down
