When elderly mother Edna inexplicably vanishes, her daughter Kay and granddaughter Sam rush to the family’s decaying country home, finding clues of her increasing dementia scattered around the house in her absence. After Edna returns just as mysteriously as she disappeared, Kay’s concern that her mother seems unwilling or unable to say where she’s been clashes with Sam’s unabashed enthusiasm to have her grandma back. As Edna’s behavior turns increasingly volatile, both begin to sense that an insidious presence in the house might be taking control of her.

YOU GUYS THEY ARE FINALLY GONNA TELL THE STORY OF THE GUY WHO CREATED WONDER WOMAN AND THE TWO WOMEN WHO INSPIRED THE CHARACTER: HIS WIFE AND THEIR MUTUAL LOVER (AKA A POLYAMOROUS RELATIONSHIP WITH TWO KICKASS BI WOMEN)!!!
“With Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman soaring to a $100.5 million dollar box office debut this weekend awash in positive reviews, it’s likely many viewers are walking out of the movie theater with a newfound appreciation for the Amazing Amazon. Although she’s been around nearly as long as other big-name DC icons like Batman and Superman, Wonder Woman isn’t always given the attention and respect she deserves. The same goes for her creator, William Moulton Marston. But just as Wonder Woman herself is having her day in the sun, so too will her creator in the new biopic Professor Marston & the Wonder Women, which just released its first teaser.
Directed by Angela Robinson, Professor Marston & the Wonder Women stars Luke Evans as Marston, the Harvard psychologist who channeled his interests in feminism, pacifism, bondage, lie detection, and more into creating Wonder Woman. Rebecca Hall and Bella Heathcoate also star as Elizabeth Marston and the couple’s mutual lover, Olive Byrne, respectively — the two women who served as inspirations for Diana. In the brief new teaser, Marston tells someone off-screen that “I created her, she’s a smash success because of me,” only for a beautiful woman (presumably Heathcoate’s Olive) to appear triumphantly on screen. The relationship between a cultural feminist icon and her male creator will likely form one of the film’s main tensions.”

Film Review: The Neon Demon (2016)
Tumblr media
Nicolas Refn Wilding's 2011 Ryan Gosling vehicle Drive proved to be an indie smash, a $15 million budget pic that opened second its premiere weekend. Its Michael Mann-inspired visual style and iconic soundtrack are often credited with spotlighting the synthwave aesthetic in its formative years, and its tale of damsels and mobsters in a neon-soaked Los Angeles remains a neo-noir classic a decade later.
In 2016's Neon Demon, Refn showcases the same backdrop to tell a different story; of models, Hollywood excess and deadly ambition. Jesse (Elle Fanning) is a 16-year old orphan who has moved to Los Angeles in the wake of her parents' death with dreams of becoming a model. Finding her age an obstacle, she happens on an ethically-questionable casting agent (Christina Hendricks in an all-too-brief appearance) who books her a gig with a prestigious avant-garde photographer. It's a major opportunity, and one her aspiring-photographer boyfriend Dean (Karl Glusman) isn't happy about.
He's not the only one, as more seasoned models Gigi and Sarah (Bella Heathcoate and Abbey Lee) become increasingly jealous of the attention and adoration they starve for being heaped upon Jesse. Older model Ruby (in a scene-stealing performance by Jena Malone) takes the ingenue under her wing and offers her protection from their barbs, but her motives are questionable.
As Jesse plunges headlong into the soul-sucking world of high fashion modeling, Dean becomes dismayed that she has been consumed by vanity. Shrugging off his concerns, she returns to the motel she has been living out of run by a lecherous creep named Hank (Keanu Reeves). That night she has a terrifying dream of Hank sexually assaulting her at knife-point and, distraught, seeks out the consolation of Ruby in a Hollywood mansion she and her rival models have been staying at.
Ruby's attempt to comfort Jesse becomes an aggressive sexual overture. After Jesse spurns her advances, a distraught Ruby (in the film's most infamous scene) returns to the mortuary where she works as a makeup artist and performs a disturbing masturbatory sex act on a corpse.
Returning home, Ruby becomes determined to put an end to Jesse's narcissism and hatches a plot with the Gigi and Sarah to murder her. A chase scene ends with Jesse cornered above an empty pool, and Ruby pushes her to her demise. In a dramatic turn for the macabre, the models consume Ruby's corpse and, symbolically, her beauty. Drenched in her blood, they shower together erotically as a viscera-covered Ruby watches catatonically from the bath tub. As the new day dawn, Ruby calmly cleanses the scene of the gruesome murder topless.
The next day Gigi and Sarah arrive to a photo shoot. Gigi, wracked with guilt and feeling ill, retires to the restroom. Breaking down, she retches and finally vomits up Jesse's eyeball. Declaring plaintively to Sarah that she needs to "get her out of me," Gigi cuts open her own abdomen with a pair of scissors as Sarah watches emotionless. Calmly, Sarah picks up the eyeball and consumes it, a full-fledged monster.
Neon Demon received understandably divisive reception. At its Cannes Film Festival premiere, it was met simultaneously with boos and a standing ovation. With its depictions of cannibalism and necrophilia, it's certainly not a film for the squeamish. That said, its nods to its grindhouse horror inspirations are relatively subdued. This is a hardly A Serbian Film, you've probably seen worse in a Robert Rodriguez film, although the comedic effect here isn't telegraphed as strongly. Because its neo-noir aesthetic typically lends itself to a more serious kind of film, these more flamboyantly macabre elements at first seem to clash tonally with the movie you thought you were watching, until you remember that this IS a satire.
As a satire it works, but as a cautionary tale about the dangers of superficiality, it's a little more dubious. The premise has been done ad nauseum, so all this movie can rely on is its style, storytelling and characters to differentiate. The latter is where it really falls short. While the stellar cast brings their A-game, they can only do so much to break out of a cardboard script. There is no development, there are no real arcs. Even the protagonist fails to have any sort of real transformation, beyond her wardrobe.
But that's not really what Neon Demon was ever trying to accomplish. This is style-over-substance in its purest form. The cinematography is gorgeous, the pacing deliberate. It proudly wears its influences, from Argento's Suspiria, to 80s slasher flicks to Valley of the Dolls, to create a visual feast that is more concerned with evoking a feeling than telling a story. Set against a stellar moody synth score by Drive's Cliff Martinez, it succeeds best in painting a neon portrait of Los Angeles from Heat-era Hollywood dreams. If you've got the stomach for it, there's a lot here to love.
The Neon Demon is available to stream for subscribers of Amazon Prime.

What are your opinions on the following FCs and would they make your wanted lists lol Emmy Rossum Eleanor Tomlinson Minka Kelly Bella Heathcote
Thank you for the question anon!
I love Emmy Rossum and love RPing against her. I wouldn’t put her on my wanted list purely because I already RP with a few of them - but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t RP with another if someone came to me offering her.  Eleanor Tomlinson I’ve never heard of before today. Like most redheads, I rather like her. Again, I’d RP with one, but wouldn’t put her out there as a wanted FC. Minka Kelly is probably the top of this list. She’s such a babe and one of the first FCs I roleplayed opposite when I started RPing in 2012. I’d say she probably just makes the wanted list!  Bella Heathcoat is another I’ve never heard of before today. I’d probably write with her depending on the plot, but wouldn’t put her into a wanted list.

BFI London Film Festival Review - Relic (2020)
BFI London Film Festival Review – Relic (2020)
Worldwide studies show that over 50 million people suffer from some form of dementia, with cases rising by around 10million each year. Debilitating, destabilising, and continuously evolving, it is an invisible disease that can change people almost instantly but the structure of it and how it works inside a human’s brain is both perplexing and fascinating, becoming more and more potent as we age.…
