Delirious characters Saying Things they wouldn't otherwise say, because they don't realize who they're actually speaking to. The variations are endless. But it's such a good opportunity for some angst and it's an excuse to get your hurt character revealing something about themself vis-a-vis whoever-they're-hallucinating that they wouldn't otherwise reveal.
