musicsermon We all - especially music snobs & nerds - have guilty pleasures when it comes to what we listen to. The song equivalents of trash tv that are secretly our jams.
For Day 21 of the #BlackMusicMonthChallenge, reveal a song you're embarrassed to admit you rock with.

musicsermon It's the LAST DAY, kids!!
For Day 30 of the #BlackMusicMonthChallenge, tell us which song is the most played in your music library.
This final question, to me, is the music equivalent of peeking in someone's medicine cabinet or drawers. It can be very revealing 👀
(Don't worry, the party's not over. More info to come later today)

musicsermon Music stimulates the part of our brain connected to emotions and memory. That's why a song can put you right back in time and place - even damn near conjure up smell - and why we identify some songs so strongly with specific people.
For Day 29 of the #BlackMusicMonthChallenge, share a song that reminds you of family.

musicsermon The observance of #BlackMusicMonth in June is unique to the US, but that doesn't mean we have to keep our celebration confined to Black American artists.
For Day 26 of the #BlackMusicMonthChallenge, share a favorite song by a Black artist and/or music genre from outside of the US

Tazha Williams is an activist and interdisciplinary artist . A queer femme of African decent, she is an avid organiser for the Black Lives Matter Movement. Go follow @tazhathediviner and subscribe to her YouTube. Link in bio. #Repost @tazhathediviner --- “You are holy whether or not you even know it. You are divine, now is your time” 🔮 Taking this time of quarantine to go inward into deeper meditative states, to visualize the future we want, to nurture my body and to realize creative projects. Watching capitalism implode. Praying we all stay safe and protected. And so it is. . . . . This song is about recognizing the seemingly mundane as sacred, reveling in the joy and pain of life's ebb and flow. This song is also about celebration, being critical of capitalism while having to make the best of it, reclaiming rituals, and the inherent magic of Black, Queer identities. -Yours Truly. . . . . Music Video + Song titled "Living". My friends @thebackedge / Aidan Bosanko + @burchfieldstudios / Cody Burchfield shot, directed, edited + helped bring the vision to life. Of the things I accomplished in 2018, this is one of my favorites + it feels worth sharing again. Here is clip 3/3 shared over the past 3 days<<•>> WHAT DOES THIS SONG MAKE YOU FEEL?! . . . Thanks for watching, listening + sharing! musicsermon Tomorrow is officially the first day of Summer. Most of us have already dusted the grill off at least once (well, those of us who know how to grill 😒), but now it's full cookout season.
For Day 20 of the #BlackMusicMonthChallenge, name an essential song for the cookout playlist. 🍔🍗

msblinkbeats On February 8, 2012, South Korean girl group SPICA released their first EP and debut major release “Russian Roulette” and headed off with two singles. The B side that should’ve let the frontlines is track 4, “No More.”
Within the team who created the song, it’s the funk that David D.A. Dolan a.k.a. @dagotthatdope added to the production and arrangement that sets this song apart. The former five-member group had the vocals to carry, no doubt, and he made sure the song accommodated that.

musicsermon It's debate that goes back to the days when "standards" (songs that every artist had in their repertoire) were still a thing. This might be about personal preference, or it could just be a generational difference.
For Day 25 of the #BlackMusicMonthChallenge, name the cover you'll die defending over the original.
And (swipe 👉🏾) because there was confusion from a few folks on the day we talked about samples - the terminology is starting to get conflated, as happens on the internet - I made a little explainer for y'all.
