uhh catholicism/cannibalism cw Just saw the post you reblogged with the picture of a button with "God was my co-pilot but we crashed in the mountains and I had to eat him" and my eyes nearly bugged out of my head, because I just hours ago finished listening to the "You're Wrong About" episode about Flight 571 so #1 it's a weird coincidence and #2 I realized the button is actually bizarrely apt...
the majority of the people on the flight were these like 19-20 year olds who'd played rugby together while attending a Catholic school. so after they crashed, when they realized they were going to starve up there on a glacier if they didn't start eating the bodies of the dead, they had this long philosophical conversation about it. and they came to the conclusion that eating the dead couldn't be sinful and instead was like taking communion (since Catholics believe in transubstantiation, with the wafer/wine somehow being the literal body/blood of Jesus). that was genuinely part of the moral justification they arrived at!
(I realize you maybe knew all this already/listened to that episode yourself; sorry for the long ask if so! if not, it's a really good one, provided you have a strong stomach! despite the cannibalism and catholicism it's actually a beautiful story of people in one of the most extreme situations I can imagine trying so hard to care for each other and being kind and so human.)
I juuuust listened to that ep!!!!!!! So amazing. My favorite part is how Nando WOULD have died of swelling in his brain if it hadn't been like 40 below but since it was so cold he just woke up out of a coma 3 days later and proceeded to basically save everyone even with his skull all smashed up. Incredible
My OTHER favorite part is how the catholic church DID defend them to the press and say like "their actions were justified" but it also was like "CRUCIALLY HOWEVER WE MUST GO ON THE RECORD AS SAYING THAT CANNIBALISM IS NOTHING LIKE COMMUNION" which seems like both an enormous lie and a weenie move to me

Crash // Maynard Brothers
Word Count: 1842
Summary- You get into a car crash, and suddenly your twin starts acting weird.
Warnings; car crash, mention of a coma, & swears? (don’t actually remember, this was written in like a 3 day span and I can’t be bothered to check.)
A/n; I thought I’d try a different writing style, tell me what you think?? Also I’m lowkey really happy with this one, but at the same time, I’m not. Idk. Let me know your thoughts.
Requested; Yes.
req; Is it ok if you do an imagine with jack? It takes place post car accident (with both reader and jack in the car, without jack, either is fine. You can even write the accident if you wanted idc) and he is TERRIFIED of you getting anywhere near a car? It's ok if you can't, I know it's a lot XD
*ITALIC WRITING- FLASHBACK
*NORMAL- PRESENT
-
“Can you pick up some Nando’s on the way home?” Jack asked, his voice playing through the car’s speakers. “Sure thing Jack.” You said, your eyes not moving off the road. You were thankful cars had Bluetooth, especially for calls. It made everything so easy. “Anything in particular you wan-” You began to say, but were cut off by a huge smashing sound, glass flying and the world spinning rapidly, before you hit your head and everything went black.
You shot up out of your bed, drenched in sweat. You had tears rolling down your cheeks, and you were panting heavily. You mentally cursed yourself for still shaking at the thought of that day. It still haunted you like a fresh wound; as if it were only yesterday. Even if for half of that period you weren’t awake, it was still hard to believe. You expected it to scar you, but you didn’t think it would be quite like this.
Beep. Beep. Beep. “Please, Y/N, please..” You faintly heard, the sound familiar, but indistinguishable. “I need you, please..” You groaned, the bright light nearly blinding you as you peeled open your eyes. The room you found yourself in was unfamiliar, ugly light yellow walls surrounding you and very bright long lights stretched across the ceiling. You weren’t sure where you were, but you knew it wasn’t your room.
The crash. Thankfully, no one got hurt. No one else, anyway. The truck that hit you spun out of control and smashed into the side of your car. You were in a coma for a month. Or so you were told. You struggled to wrap your head around the situation. A whole month. A whole month you were in complete darkness. It felt like mere hours, the distant beeps you now know was the heart monitor, a noise in the background of the dark abyss you found yourself in.
You rubbed your eyes. When you raised it, your arm felt slightly restricted, and you looked down, you realized there were IVs in your arm and hand. “What the..” You whispered, throat sore. “Where am I?” You rasped, as if you hadn’t spoken in weeks. “Y/N?” You looked up at the sound of a voice, your blue eyes meeting the concerned, yet relieved ones of your twin. “Jack?” You whispered, unable to speak fully with your dry, sore throat. Jack looked stunned, but shook his head, jumping up suddenly, running to the door and throwing it open. “Doctor! Nurse! She’s awake!” He called out to the room, and a bunch of people crowded in.
You shook your head. You knew you weren’t the only one who was suffering. For you, it was terrifying; and the worst part was; you didn’t even see it coming. You only felt the impact; mentally, and physically. Jack, on the other hand, was taking it harder than you. You couldn’t imagine what he’d been through in the last month. You on one hand, were trapped in the abyss of nothing, unknowing of time or anything around you. Jack had to spend every day, waiting agonizingly for his other half to wake up, praying she would come back. Praying you would come back. Maybe you would know, but he refused to look at you, let alone talk to you.
“Hello, dear. I’m a doctor. You’re in the hospital. Can you tell me your name, some facts about you and the last thing you remember?” A man told/asked you. “My name is Y/N Maynard, I’m 22 years old, and I have a twin brother named Jack, and older brother named Conor and a younger sister named Anna. Last I remember is driving my car and a loud crashing sound.” You said, slightly confused. The doctor smiled, though it was bittersweet, you didn’t know why. That’s when the news came. “You’ve been in a coma for a month, Y/N.”
Jack was always a very secluded person. He liked his feelings to stay his; to keep things to himself. Always, ever since you were a kid, you were his only exception. You were the one he’d go to for everything, from girl problems to anxiety attacks, you were his rock. Now, you felt like you were missing your other half. Jack had shut himself from not only you, but everyone. All his friends were worried, Conor was worried. You weren’t worried. You were absolutely terrified.
After the news, the doctors left, and you were sitting in silence. The door creaked, and in walked several sets of footsteps. The watery eyes of Conor, Anna, your mum and dad met your own, and a smile illuminated your face. “Hi.” You croaked, and they all ran over, squishing you in a Maynard hug. Except one. “Where’s Jack?” You asked, the pain evident in your groggy voice. “He said he needed time.” Conor whispered, tucking your hair behind your ears and scanning your face, as if unbelieving you were awake. “I’m sorry.” Conor said, he knew how much you wanted your twin, and he wasn’t there.
“Jack. Let me in.” You pleaded, banging on his door. “No.” He said, and you distinctively heard his voice crack. “Jack please..” “Leave me alone, Y/N!” He yelled, clearly annoyed. “No, Jack! Stop whatever this is! I want to know why you’ve shut me out since I got back! You didn’t even visit me in the hospital for god's sake!” You screamed, and the door swung open.
“Why not?” You asked, wanting to know at least a decent reason Jack wasn’t here. Conor looked at your parents, as if asking if he should tell you. They look to each other, unsure. Anna steps up to your bed, and only then did you notice the tears running down her cheeks. “He thinks it’s his fault.” She whispered, choking back a sob. You took in a sharp breath, completely stunned by the news.
“You wanna know why I wasn’t there? One month, Y/N! An entire month without my sister, without you! I watched you for weeks, sitting in absolute silence! I talked to you, and you didn’t reply! The doctors said you could’ve died! By the way things were going, I thought you already were dead! What the hell would I have done then? I need you! You’re the better half of me, and I’m scared, alright? I’m scared of losing you!” Jack screamed, and you fell silent. You quickly realized the tears running down his already stained cheeks, his eyes red and puffy from crying.
“How would it be his fault? That doesn’t make sense..” You stuttered, your heart rate increasing. “Relax, relax, Y/N.” Your mom said, stroking your forehead gently. “You were on the phone with him when you were driving, yeah?” Anna asked, and Conor looked about ready to pull her out of the room. He stepped forward, presumably to do so, but you cut him off. “Yeah..” You answered, and suddenly, it all made sense.
“Jack..” You whispered, tears blurring your own sight. “No! I spent a month talking to your limp body. I prepared myself for the worst. I shut out everyone because all I wanted was you. I wanted my twin. You weren’t there, and it was all my fault!” He sobbed, and you ran over engulfing him in a hug. He tensed, but let his arms swing around your torso and pull you close. “I was so scared, Y/N..” He whimpered, and you realized just how hard this must’ve been for him.
“He thinks he distracted me because he was talking to me on the phone? He thinks I crashed because of that?” You asked, your voice cracking. None of your family answered, but Conor was giving Anna a look, as to say ‘you’ve fucked up.’ She backed away slightly, an apologetic look in her eyes. “Sorry.” She muttered, mainly to Conor. “B-but, I didn’t even crash! The truck ran into me!” You said, trying desperately to make an excuse for Jack not to feel guilty. You failed.
“Jack, I’m right here. I didn’t die. It’s not your fault, you know? The truck hit me, not the other way around.” You said, pulling him back to be face to face with his. “I was calling you, I was still distracting you from the road. It was my fault.” He stuttered, trying to control the seemingly endless stream of tears. “Jack, it’s fine. I’m fine. You’re fine. We’re both fine. It was not your fault, okay? I promise.” You said, and he broke down, sobbing into your shoulder.
“I want to see him.” You said, looking at your family. They all gave each other looks. Anna gestured for Conor to speak, as besides Jack, you were the closest with him. He ran a hand through his hair; a nervous tick of his. He stepped forward, looking down at you sadly. You could see up close, he had tears blurring his eyes, and you knew the news wouldn’t be good. “Y/N.. He doesn’t want to see you.” Conor said, softly.
“The Uber is here.” You muttered, rubbing his back soothingly. “No!” Jack exclaimed, grabbing you tighter. You frowned, confused. “Jack, why not? We have to go to Conor’s.” You said, looking into his eyes. “W-what… what if we crash?” He stutters, nervously. “Jack, we won’t. What happened to me was a rare occasion. It won’t happen again. I won’t leave you again, okay? This time, you’ll be there for me too, right?” You told him, and he nodded.
“How could he not want to see me! This is ridiculous!” You cried, tears running down your face. Your family smiled sadly. “He’s been here for a month, Y/N. He thought you were going to die.” Anna blurted, being shushed once again by the eldest Maynard child. “Did you all think that?” You asked, vulnerably. Conor frowned. “We didn’t know what to think, Y/N. For all we knew, you could’ve already been dead.” “But I’m not.” You defended, saddened by the thought your twin didn’t want to see you. “We know, and he knows too. He’s just scared you wouldn’t be.” Your dad said, grabbing your hand and squeezing it lightly. “It was a bit of a shock for us all.”
“Now let’s go before we get a complaint from our driver.” You teased, and he wiped his red eyes. “I look like shit.” He said, looking at his reflection in his phone camera. “You always do. Come onnn!” You said, pulling his arm. He looked at you in mock offense, storming off in front of you. He took off into a run, calling back “Last one there is a rotten egg!” You laughed at the childish nature of your twin, but you were glad he was back to normal, and you’d much prefer him like this than have him shut you out at all. “I win, Y/N!” Even if he was an annoying twin, he was your annoying twin, and you wouldn’t change it for the world.

so after a lot of convincing from my friend im getting over my self-consciousness just enough to post this shitty drabble i wrote at 3 am
its kinda long sdfjdhgjd and sad
The end was near, and he knew it. Fernando refused to give up hope, however, and continued to push forward. He was determined to defend this point, even if it cost him his life. The knight was soon to realize it would cost him much more than he first anticipated.
-
Maeve continued to throw herself into the air gracefully, dodging enemy fire and tossing her daggers at her pursuers. Soon enough, she had successfully eliminated one of her adversaries, and was currently dueling the other. At first, it seemed as though she would win quite easily. Yet her recklessness soon caught up to her, and she made a miscalculation that under normal circumstances would not have happened. But she had managed to hurt them just enough that they would not yet dare risk chasing after her. The wounded child retreated back to allied territory in hopes of being healed.
“Got to run, need to hide…” she gasped, grasping at her bleeding right arm. She scanned the area with narrowed eyes, searching for a safe place. Suddenly, she remembered she had last seen Seris with Fernando on the point. She darted forward once more, placing all her hopes on the oracle of the abyss.
She arrived at the point quickly, where the healer and her front liner were fiercely fighting to maintain control. Their attackers were relentless, but so far were evenly matched. Maeve grinned, filled with confidence. Her big brother had taken on much more challenging foes and lived to tell the tale, she shouldn’t have to worry about him. However, when she took a closer look, she noticed the strong cracks in Fernando’s shield; It would not last much longer. With all her pain forgotten, she rushed towards Makoa, flinging her knives in a desperate rage, hoping to distract him just long enough to give Fernando a moment to regenerate his shield. But before Maeve had another chance to attack, she was yanked from her place in the air and slammed down into the ground-she had been caught by Makoa’s anchor. She spat at him, struggling to free herself from the chains. But it was too late. His body began to glow an eerie color, and his voice became amplified tenfold. “YOU CHALLENGE MAKOA?” the ancient one thundered, flinging her body aside as she hit a wall with tremendous force, slumping over after the impact.
-
“Maeve!” Fernando cried out. With the precious few seconds he had left of his defense, he glanced over his shoulder to his ally. “Seris, please, help her!” he begged, his voice cracking. If Maeve was on the brink of death, or worse, if she died in this battle, he’d never forgive himself. But to his surprise, the healer shook her head, a hint of knowing sadness tinting her voice. “There is nothing I can do for her… I’ve used nearly all my power. I need a moment to regain it.  But I will get help.” She cast a spell and faded into the shadows, and Fernando had faith that she’d arrive in time.
She would not.
He turned back to face, focused once more on the problem at hand.
-
Maeve began to fade in and out of consciousness, vision blurring before turning black. But before she lost her handle on reality completely, she saw Fernando jump forward to combat the enraged magma-dweller, his shield shattering into pieces as he drew forth his lance.
-
“I will not die… not yet, amigo!” he shouted. A strong, golden aura began to pulsate from his body, and he took the brunt of Makoa’s fierce attacks without so much as a scratch. He shot a powerful burst of flame from his lance and then charged once more towards his enemy, driving him back. Not hesitating for even a moment, Fernando attacked again, flames spewing from his weapon and encasing his foe. He knew he was at a disadvantage considering his opponent’s natural heat resistance, but that did not stop him from giving his all. Even if his flames weren’t able to damage Makoa much, the sheer force of it is at least enough to push him back. Fernando could not give up, for his loved ones’ sakes.
The aura around Fernando dispelled, and Makoa’s power of the ancient’s rage had faded as well.  For a moment, it appeared as though he had a chance.
-
Now was the time.
Zhin jumped forth from the shadows towards Fernando, roaring as he viciously slashed at him. Fernando screamed in pain, writhing as he tried to get away. But it was useless-once Zhin had his victim in his grasp, they never left alive. Fernando soon stopped struggling, and his chest heaved as he coughed up blood. With each slice of the fiery blade, he could feel his life leaving him. With the last of his energy, he reached out, weakly calling to Maeve. He begged her to flee, to save herself and make sure that Lex is alright. His voice roused her from the tempting clutches of the darkness that dulled her senses. But the bloody sight was too much for her too bear, and she froze in shock. By then, it was too late for him to do anything more. His outstretched hand fell to his side, and his last breath left him. But the tyrant was not finished – he kept hacking at Fernando’s motionless body. Once Zhin was finally satisfied with his work, he kicked aside the remainder of what used to be the highly-esteemed knight’s body and set it ablaze before strutting forward and claiming the point as his.
-
Maeve still could not believe it. It had been hours since it happened, but the reality of it all still had not fully sunk in.
Fernando was dead.
She sat next to Lex, silent sobs wracking her body. She held what used to be his headpiece close to her as bittersweet memories began playing through her head. She remembered the countless times that she had climbed onto his shoulders and played with the soft, feathery part that sprouted out like a ponytail. She remembered how he’d joke that she looked exactly like a cat, and how she’d purposefully bare her teeth and hiss to go along with his jokes, began crying even harder.
He wasn’t gone forever, right? He was going to show up any moment now, and say that he was fine, and he would apologize for worrying them so much. Then he would smile and hug Lex, and pick Maeve up onto his shoulders, laughing and saying how much he loved them. Everything was going to be ok, right?
. . .
Right?
Deep down, Maeve knew her fantasies were never going to come true. He was gone for good, and not even Seris could bring him back. A cold emptiness began to creep upon the young child as she felt survivor’s guilt weigh heavily on her shoulders.
Why did it have to be him?
Why couldn’t it have been her?
-
Lex has not been able to say anything since he found out. In fact, he wasn’t even sure if he was alive anymore. When Fernando died, it was as if he died as well. Except, his body was still alive, and he was still here in this realm.
His movements were slow, his thoughts sluggish. He was barely aware of Maeve’s presence next to him, and managed to put an arm around her. But he could do no more in terms of comfort; his mind too preoccupied with trying to calm his swirling emotions.
It had happened when Lex was behind enemy lines. Shortly after he finished off the one who had hurt Maeve, Seris appeared at his side, proclaiming that both Fernando and Maeve were in danger, and that they needed his help. After hearing this, he rushed as quickly towards the point as he could. But by the time he had arrived there, it was much too late. He saw Fernando- his scorched body covered in blood-motionless-as Maeve leaned against a wall, bleeding heavily from her arm. She was paralyzed from both shock and fear, her eyes locked onto the man who had done this: Zhin, who was standing next to Makoa on the point. The man turned to face him, smirking, as if to taunt him.
A righteous fury filled Lex; his eyes burned with an unbridled rage as he focused his aim on the one who had slaughtered his beloved as well as the culprit’s comrade.
"I will pass judgement.” he snarled before firing, completely eradicating the two from existence.
Maeve blinked at Lex, surprised at the sudden arrival of her brother. When she realized Zhin and Makoa were gone, she managed to snap out of her shock. She limped towards him, calling his name. “Lex! Oh Lex, thank you for saving me-don’t worry about me, i’ll be fine-but Nando, he’s been hurt really badly… Seris, can’t you help him?”
The healer was silent, hesitating to tell them the truth. But it needed to be done.
It was her duty.
“Fernando… is dead.” she whispered softly. “It was destined to happen… Neither one of you could have prevented it.”
“Y-you mean… You’re saying…” Maeve drifted off, too distressed to finish her sentence.
“...You knew this was going to happen..?” Lex stared at Seris, his voice cracking halfway.
“How could you lie to us..?”
Seris grew quiet. She knew it would be useless to try and argue upfront with the two siblings while grief clouded their thinking. For a moment, it seemed as though she would not say anything to console the two.
“The river of fate is always flowing. Perhaps you can change its course temporarily, but never its end destination. It will always go in the direction it wants, or needs to go.” she murmured. “I’m sorry, Lex and Maeve. I truly am.” The oracle bowed her head in silence before slipping into the shadows and disappearing once more.
Overwhelmed with the truth of it all, Maeve’s world felt like it was falling apart. She fell to her knees, voice full of sadness and regret.
“I trusted you, Seris.”

Ours - George Smith Imagine!
A/N: I have New Hope Club feels don’t fight me.
Shout out to the George girls out there!
Song Preference: Ours by Taylor Swift
Disclaimer: P.O.V’s switch from time to time, and if your names are Gabbie or Anna, I’m deeply sorry just change the names.
* * * *
Elevator buttons and morning air
Stranger’s silence makes me wanna take the stairs
If you were here we’d laugh about their vacant stares
But right now, my time is theirs
George’s P.O.V
Today the lads and I are going somewhere and to be honest, I don’t really know where we’re going. They say that we’re here attending a meeting and I hate it. I can’t wait to go home. I woke up really early today and I all I want to do is spend the rest of my day with my girlfriend, Y/N.
We arrive at the building and it had no life. It’s like one of those sad films with poor quality. Kinda like those films that were made ages ago. I can just imagine the black and white filter in this building. No one was happy. Geez, when did their lives get sucked out of them?
We go to the reception area and I look around as Reece asked the receptionist the floor of where our meeting is held. Reece turned to Blake and I and said, “4th floor.” We walked to the elevator and almost every employee is there waiting for the elevator.
After standing in silence, the elevator made a ‘ding’ sound which means it arrived. Everyone from inside the elevator walked out, as employees who were standing with us went inside. As we were walking, we knew that the elevator would be super packed. Everyone was pushing through other people, so the boys and I stay at the side to avoid this.
“Ugh. Can we just wait for the next?” Blake asks quietly, not wanting anyone to hear his complaint.
“No, because we’ll be late.” I reply.
“What do you mean "we’ll be late”? We’re early!“ Blake whispers angrily.
"Actually we’re not. You literally stayed in the bathroom for nearly an hour just to fix your hair.” Reece butts in with a small smile on his face.
“I second that.” I say in a normal tone. I swear Blake and Reece take so long just to fix their hair. I understand girls who take their time to put on make up and fixed their hair in the process, but I swear these two! If I were asked who takes the longest in fixing their hair, I would say Blake. He takes the longest. Seriously, watch all our Club Cams.
“It’ll just take a few minutes.” Blake shrugs.
“No, Blake. We’re five minutes late already. We can’t afford to be late for another minute. Now, let’s go.” Reece says sternly as we follow behind him going to the elevator.
The elevator was so full that I was standing in the middle of the elevator with Blake on my right, and Reece on my left. It’s so quiet in here, I thought to myself. The elevator’s slow, and there’s no elevator music to at least make things alive.
I look around the elevator and hold back a laugh. Everyone has spaced out. Even Blake spaced out! I look at Reece, and I think he’s bloody lost it. He’s bobbing his head -as if listening- to music that isn’t there. I look away and got out my phone to send a quick text to Y/N.
From: George
To: Babe ❤
Hey babe! Good morning. I have a meeting today, and I didn’t want to wake you. There’s breakfast on the table if you’re hungry. Btw, I’m currently in an elevator and if you were here we’d probably laugh at all these people’s faces! Hahaha! Everyone spaced out (even Blake)! I’ll tell you all about it later. Love you! xx
Send.
“You’re so whipped.” Reece says with a light chuckle whilst shaking his head. I ignored his comment and put my phone back in my pocket.
Ugh this is taking forever! I wish I used the stairs. I would’ve been there on time. Plus, it’s a quick exercise.
'ding’
The door opened and we’re finally here! Everyone was rushing out at the same time, even Reece and Blake. I wanted to do the same, but I guess God had other plans for me. Instead of being out in the open like Reece and Blake, I got left behind the elevator, because I got pushed furthermore in it. (a/n: like Taylor Swift in the video above.)
*
Seems like there’s always someone who disapproves
They’ll judge it like they know about me and you
And the verdict comes from those with nothing else to do
The jury’s out, but my choice is you
Your P.O.V
I woke up to the 'ding’ sound on my phone. I look at it and see that it was from George.
From: Georgeous 😂
To: Y/N
Love you! xx
He made me breakfast? Aww, how sweet.
I sit up and leaned on the headboard whilst typing a message to George.
To: Georgeous 😂
From: Y/N
Good morning, babe! I just woke up. Good luck with your meeting. Don’t reply to this message. I don’t want to disturb you. Thank you so much for breakfast! And I’m excited for the story you’ll tell me when you get home. I’ll be out with my friends today. Text you later. Love you! xx
Send.
I get up, stretch, and do my morning routine. After that, I eat the breakfast George prepared and washed the dishes. I go back upstairs and charge my phone. Whilst charging my phone, I hop in the shower and stayed there for 10 minutes. After that, I looked for something to wear.
It’s simple, but I didn’t want to dress up that much.
When my phone finished charging, I removed it from the charger and put the charger in my bag. I always bring my charger with me. Hey, you’ll never know where you end up in.
I walked to the nearest Starbucks to meet up with my friends, Gabbie and Anna.
They see me from afar, and wave at me. Of course, I waved back not wanting them to look like fools. “Hey girls!” I greeted them as I sat down in between Gabbie and Anna.
“Hey Y/N! So, I’m going on a date tonight. I don’t know what to wear!” Anna sighs.
“Wow! Okay. Where are you going?” I ask, not really knowing if I’m of good help.
“That’s the thing. It’s a surprise!” Anna crosses her arms and sips her drink.
“Then wear something nice. Not too casual and not too fancy or something.” Gabbie suggests.
“Yeah, that could work! Let’s go, because knowing Anna, she’d stay there for a long time.” I chuckle.
“Hey!” Anna says as she pretends to be offended.
We got in Gabbie’s car and she drives to the mall. We arrive there and Anna immediately drags us to every store. After what seemed like a year, we took a break in an ice cream parlor.
“So Y/N, how’s life?” Gabbie asks as she ate her ice cream.
“Yeah. We haven’t heard from you in months! What happened to you?” Anna asks with concern.
“Relax, guys. I’ve been great! I was busy with school work.” I say. Gabbie and Anna no longer go to the same school as I do, so they often ask me how I’m doing without them.
“Ah, I see. What about that popstar boyfriend of yours?” Gabbie smirks as she nudges my elbow playfully.
“George? He’s fine! He’s doing really well with his band. I’m really proud of him.” I smile. The thought of George being so passionate about something he loves doing is really inspiring.
“George is great and all, but I hate to break it to you. He’s not really for you. I mean, you guys are a great pair, but I think he’s not right for you!” Anna says as I look down and avoid her gaze.
“I don’t mean to sound judgmental or anything, but he’s in a famous band and you’re just you. You live a simple life and he’s traveling here and there. He won’t have time for you. What if his band thing doesn’t work out?” Anna asks, “Let’s say you’ve graduated college and you’re working. Your job is your dream job. Now you and George are still together, but his band thing didn’t work out and now he doesn’t have a job. Y/N, I’m just looking out for you. His job is great, I have to admit that, but it’s not stable.” she adds. I didn’t say anything. I just looked away and tried to block them out.
“Anna, I get your point, but we don’t know what’s going on. We don’t even know George that much. We only met him once and that was when he was going away for tour. Let’s just support Y/N and respect her decisions. After all, it’s her life. But as her friends, we need to be here for her no matter what happens.” Gabbie says calmly, but I know she’s about to lose it. I look at Gabbie and mutter a little -but genuine- “thank you”. Gabbie just smiles in return.
We finish shopping and I got some stuff for George as well. Gabbie brought Anna home first and then me. I thanked Gabbie for the ride and for defending me. She said it was no problem. I wave at her and walk to my shared flat with George.
I open the door and put the things that I bought for George on the coffee table in front of the couch. I kick off my shoes and laid down on thee couch. Geez, shopping is tiring.

You never know what people have up their sleeves
Ghosts from your past gonna jump out at me
Lurking in the shadows with their lip gloss smiles
But I don’t care, 'cause right now you’re mine
George’s P.O.V
I got Y/N’s text a few minutes ago. I followed what she said and didn’t reply. After the meeting, the lads and I decided to eat lunch and roam around a bit. We decided to eat at Nando’s.
-time skip bc I can’t think of anything is brought to you by 'Make Up’ by New Hope Club is now Vevo-
The lads and I are walking around the mall in silence, until Blake brought up a topic about exes.
“I suddenly remembered my ex.” Blake groans.
“Why?” Reece snorts.
“I don’t know. If any of you noticed, we passed by a group of girls who sounded like her. Y'know, a nagger.” Blake rolls his eyes at the thought. That’s true, though. His ex was an absolute nagger. Thank goodness he broke it off before it becomes worse.
“Anais was nice and all, but it didn’t work out.” Reece shrugs. “What about you, George?” he asks.
“What? Oh, my ex? Y'know she’s where she’s supposed to be.” I simply shrug.
Reece and Blake look at each other with confusion written all over their faces.
“Where?” Blake looks at me with furrowed eyebrows.
“In my past along with my other exes. I don’t care about them anymore.” I say. Seriously, they’re not my priority anymore. I’m sure they’re happy right now and my last ex probably hates me, but whatever. “I’ve got Y/N now, and I’m happy.” I add.

And it’s not theirs to speculate if it’s wrong and
Your hands are tough but they are where mine belong in
I’ll fight their doubt and give you faith
With this song for you
George’s P.O.V
After lunch with the boys, I went home only to find Y/N sleeping on the couch. I kiss her forehead and look inside the paper bag that’s on the coffee table. She got me some stuff that I need. I’ll thank her when she wakes up.
I kick off my shoes and go up to Y/N and I’s shared room to change into something comfy. After changing, I walk back down and see Y/N wide awake.
“Hey babe” I greet and sit next to her.
“Hey.” Y/N says with no excitement in her tone. Oh no.
“What’s wrong?” I ask.
“Anna told me this morning that we aren’t a good match. She said that you’re in a famous band and that you’re traveling here and there whereas I live a simple life. She kept on going and said that you won’t have time for me. She told me that your job wasn’t stable and that nothing will happen to you if your band thing doesn’t work out in the end.” she says in one breath.
Wow. That’s a lot to take in. I take her hands in mine and look at her straight in the eyes.
“Listen to me. We’re a good match. Don’t listen to anything they’re saying. They’re trying to break us up. That won’t happen, because I won’t let that happen. And even if the band doesn’t work out, I’ll still find a way for both of us.” I assure her.
“Really?” Y/N looks at me with those Y/E/C eyes that I love so much.
“Really.” I smile.

A/N: Sorry if the ending wasn’t what you expected. I did my best.
Lmao reblog if you liked it

Lee Selby on his fight to make weight: ‘I tricked my own body to believe I was eating’
By the end, Lee Selby was hoping to hoodwink everyone – his opponents, his team and even his own body.
The former IBF world champion, who has been around 11.5th, had starved himself to the 9th featherweight limit for nearly a decade – shedding himself or excess but last week as well as sapping himself of any strength.
Battles with the scales are a painful byproduct of any fighter's life. But Selby's recent tales of sacrifice and suffering – in boxing, as in life – have been darker than most.
Lee Selby starved himself for a decade to the 9th featherweight limit
'It's got to be that a point where I would have two meals – one of salad leaves and one normal meal, 'he recalls.
' I would chew the normal food, spit it out, and I would be missing out on. Just so I had something in my stomach.
'I was trying to trick my body into thinking I was eating proper food when I was just eating leaves. It was dangerous, but I was willing to keep hold of the title. " For so long making weight was […]
They did and last year the Welshman sat atop the division, on the cusp or lucrative showdowns across the world. Not that it always felt that way.
Selby was reduced to a bloody shadow of his former self as Josh Warrington beat him last May
'In fight week I would hear the other fighters on the bill saying how great they feel and they are looking forward to the fight, I was sitting at home dying, starving hungry, thinking: "How on earth can you feel like that, when I'm feeling like this?" '
Hey adds: 'The mental side is just so, so draining, thinking about weight all the time. I'd be pinching my skin feeling how much weight I'd put on after every meal. It was bad, it became obsessive. '
In recent years he became too weak to spar in the final few weeks of camp. And in the days before his most recent fights, he was too drained to do anything at all.
'I was just lying around. the last bit of weight off, 'he laughs.
It was from those ashes that he would have to face each and every time he faced a man trained to damage his body some more.
Selby hid his struggles from his team so they, like everyone, watched as his performances dipped, as well as the wins kept coming.
Selby tricked his body to make weight and knew early on the struggle against Warrington
Then last May, the Welshman faced Josh Warrington at Elland Road. He was a heavy favorite to keep his belt and set up a money-spinning showdown with Carl Frampton but, almost immediately, Selby realized he had finally gone one too many times to the well.
As Warrington plowed forward, the 'Welsh Mayweather' was reduced to a bloody shadow of his former self – his depleted body simply unable to do what his mind will.
'As soon as I threw my first jab, the spark was just gone, 'Selby admits.
' My manager Jamie Sanigar – he did not say it at the time obviously – but after the fight he said as soon I was warming up on the pads it was just not there. '
For 12 rounds Selby battled on, barely able to see his opponent as two of his nasty cuts, his punches of the power needed to stop the on-marching Warrington.
' Even weight-drained, on a bad day, I'm still a good enough fighter to beat most fighters, 'the Welshman says.
remaining being weight-drained for years, the Welshman still defended his world title four times
'I was still scraping through with my fitness and determination and natural boxing, I managed to get away with it for a long time.
'So my trainer (Tony Borg) and manager sort of blame themselves for not recognizing the signs but it's all down to me.' No one could ignore it by Warrington, a second loss.
It spells the end of the time on the floor of James DeGale vs. Chris Eubank Jnr Selby begins a new chapter against Omar Douglas having jumped two divisions to lightweight
Traffic caused him to miss Wednesday's final press conference but provided he makes it to the ring, Selby hopes the extra 9lbs will bring back his punch power and with it his best form
But making light weight remains a challenge, meaning his love of cheesecake and Nando's must still be tempered, even if bigger portions are on the menu at last
Little else has changed – he still trains between his hometown or Barry and Newport, where he made his debut in 2008.
The Welshman has now jumped up to lightweight and plans to become a two-weight champion
LEE SELBY'S RECORD
Fights: 28
Won: 26
KOs: 9
Draws:
Defeats: 2
Former IBF Featherweight world champion
The 32-year- old still lives nearby, albeit having swapped a council estate for village life with his young family.
'There's no place like home is there? I've been all over the world but I can not find myself settling anywhere but my home town, 'he admits.
' I had my pro debut a stone's throw away from the gym where I was training, at Newport Leisure Center. I can remember it clearly – great memories – and I can appreciate what I have to do with the grassroots – no TV, no backing, hardly any money. I did it the hard way. " It's a story he hopes can inspire other youngsters in south Wales. But one marked by tragedy in recent times.
In July 2017, just four days before he faced Jonathan Victor Barros in London, Selby's mother, Frankie, died suddenly.
Remarkably, the Welshman still defended his title in style before returning home to grieve. A week later his grandfather, Peter, passed away, too.
'I do not think it' s affected or changed me, to be honest …. everybody goes through their trials and tribulations, 'Selby insists
'There are people in war zones losing their kids in front of them. It's just part of life, and you just get on with it. ' This stoicism is a decade ago when Michael, Selby sought solace in drink and drunks. A few months later he fell to his first defeat as his career threatened to derail.
Those days are passed at 32, Selby must rise again after more personal and professional turmoil.
He admits that in years gone by he'd have rather died than lose. Now with people depending on him, his mindset has changed.
Selby pictured sparring ahead of his lightweight debut this weekend at the O2 Arena
But he is a new chapter, hoping to become a two-weight world champion
That means more time away from his young family – and their stable of furry friends.
'I've cut back a bit, I've got six chickens, seven dogs, a cat and four ferrets, 'he says.
When Selby is away from the man, Craig Smyth, takes the reins:' He's the only man brave enough to look after them! ' A keen hunter and shooter, the Welshman has no intention of turning his mini zoo into a business down the line ('I've done enough for a lifetime already'). But for now he has a big job on his hands as he begins his assault on the lightweight division.
So what can fans expect from Lee Selby on Saturday night?
'Hopefully you'll see a bit of Lee Selby. "
