You get woken from a deep sleep at 1am. You hear weird thumps and unearthly shrieks from under the bed. You ignore the thing Small Cat appears to be slaughtering. The shrieks get louder. The battle is no longer under the bed. You turn on the light to investigate. Feeling guilty that you didn't intervene sooner. Small Cat has a BAT. It is trapped in a shoe. You kick Small Cat out of the room, shutting him and Arthur (who has come to see what the drama is) in another room. The bat is alive. Its face is very sweet. Its eyes are beseeching. You dress. You throw a cloth over the shoe and carry it outside. You fall back into bed. The cats are rattling the living room door, demanding to be let out. You ignore them. At 5.30am the rattling is too loud ignore. You get up and release them. UPDATE: the bat is no longer in the shoe. Fly free, sweet little bat. @inceptionkitties
