mad for you: part I (re-vamped oc)

↳ Zaria Threlfall had her routine. She went to class, she did her homework and performed her duties as a Prefect and a tutor, and what little free time she had was spent outside the castle walls, exploring and enjoying the nature around her. It was a good routine, a safe one with no distractions, and she never deviated from it. She was at Hogwarts for one reason and one reason only: to become strong enough to finally stand up to her father, Nathaniel Threlfall- pureblood elitist and suspected Death Eater, and be free of him. And she was well on her way to doing that; all she needed to do was stay on course and keep doing what she was doing. And then she attracts the attention of the two biggest distractions in all of Hogwarts: Fred and George Weasley. She didn’t mean to, of course. All she had done was make some minor improvements to a prank of theirs. She had done it out of boredom, a way to pass the time during her rounds with the insufferable Slytherin Prefect. She didn’t even know that the twins had witnessed the whole thing until a week later when they cornered her in the hallway with an offer in hand. Help them fine tune their pranks and inventions, and in return, she would get (according to them) some much needed fun and excitement in her life. 

She was prepared to turn them down. To offer a polite smile and say she simply didn’t have the time. Because she knew the rule: no muggleborns, half-bloods, or blood traitors. Could hear her father’s voice warning her of the repercussions should she befriend anyone of the sort. And yet- she hesitated. And maybe it was because the young rebellious girl she had once been had been silenced for too long. Maybe it was because the Weasley twins had looked at her, a Threlfall, and shown no judgement whatsoever. Or maybe it was because Sirius Black had escaped from Azkaban after twelve years and thrown her off balance and out of sorts. Maybe that was why she threw caution to the wind and said yes, and was glad that she did.

The next few months were a whirlwind. Befriending Fred and George was like seeing sunshine after a season of rain. Every moment not spent on her studies and duties, she spent with them, discussing ways to improve their various creations, aiding them with their pranks... and before she knew it, that evolved into true friendship, getting to know them beyond their identities as the infamous mischief makers of Hogwarts and never being more happy than when she was with them. 

She knew that she was living on borrowed time, that the blade that was her father would fall at any moment, ready to sever the friendships she held so dear, just as he had before. But it was worth it. For the friends and memories she had made, she was willing to pay any price. 

But when everything comes to light- her friendship with the Weasleys, her secret communications with Sirius, her tentative meeting with Harry Potter- Zaria will find that her father is willing to go even farther than she thought to keep her in line.

zaria threlfall: a character study

↳  There wasn’t a single soul at Hogwarts that didn’t know who she was. 

Zaria Threlfall: top of her class, top of her house, Prefect who was guaranteed to be Head Girl, tutor for every subject, beloved by every teacher… and the list went on. If there was a poster for the perfect Ravenclaw, she would be it. 

But that wasn’t what she was known for. She was known for something much more… unpleasant. Daughter of Nathaniel Threlfall, notorious Death Eater and one of the most powerful people in the wizarding community, and Aquilla Threlfall, née Black, sister to the infamous Bellatrix Lestrange. 

Zaria hailed from the most corrupt and evil of family bloodlines and yet… if you were to ask her fellow housemates and students what she was like, they would describe her as kind, compassionate, always willing to lend a helping hand, wicked smart, and a highly skilled witch. Her worst quality- if one could even call it that- was that she was quiet, kept to herself, and seemed to avoid making any real friends. 

The girl was a bundle of secrets shrouded in mystery, and it isn’t until her fifth year at Hogwarts that two boys make it their mission to unravel the enigma that is Zaria Threlfall.

🌸 who’s your favorite oc and why?

I have two answers for this, and it’s actually the same reasons for both.

My first one is my Harry Potter OC, Zaria Threlfall, and my second one is my Fairy Tail OC, Raven. My love for these two characters definitely stems from the fact that these are my two comfort fandoms that have such a special place in my heart, and to be able to write in the HP and FT world and explore even further all the canon characters that I love while also creating and inserting my own characters that I’ve created and seeing how they interact and change things in those worlds... it brings me so much joy. And then there’s the fact that both Zaria and Raven go through such amazing character development, and their journeys are filled with so much heartache and pain but also so much love and happiness, and they come out of it stronger than ever. Honestly, their stories are just so beautiful to me, and I love them with my whole heart.

💘 which oc has been in the most relationships?

Oh, that’s an easy one: Mirabel Mikaelson, my TVD/TW OC. After all, when one gets to be over 1,000 years old, they’re bound to have had countless relationships, however... there has only ever been two meaningful ones.

👽 who was your first serious/well put together/thought out oc?

So while I do have three OCs and their stories posted, they weren’t my first well thought out ones. In actuality, when I first wrote them, it was very spur of the moment and just writing ideas as they came to me with only the vaguest idea of where their stories were going. (Which is why they’re being rewritten/reuploaded because I actually do have solid outlines for them now lol) All that said, while her story isn’t written, my first OC that I ever truly gave a lot of thought to, fleshed out all the details, and outlined the entire story, is none other than Zaria Threlfall. From the moment that I thought of her, I immediately planned out her entire journey, and I knew right away where I wanted her to be at the end of it.

10 facts about an oc you're really excited about right now

Thank you! I’m going to go with one of my HP OCs, Zaria Threlfall!

1) she was raised by Sirius until the age of four and considers him to be her father; as such, she was also raised around James, Lily, Remus, and Peter

2) she became an unregistered animagus in her third year as a way to get away from the attention of her fellow students

3) she was a Hatstall as it took the Sorting Hat nearly six minutes to decide which House to place her in; she had such strong attributes for every House, but her high intelligence and love of learning finally won and she was put in Ravenclaw

4) after graduating, she returns to Hogwarts as Hagrid’s assistant/COMC substitute as she wants to teach that class once the job becomes available at Hogwarts

5) she has a nearly photographic memory

6) she actually met Harry right after he was born and spent a lot of time with him, though he doesn’t recall any of it

7) after the Triwizard Tournament, she has a major falling out with her parents and from then on, goes to live with the Weasleys

8) her owl’s name, Mara, was inspired by the Marauders

9) she becomes close with Angelina, Alicia, and Katie

10) the staff at Hogwarts ship her and Fred and place bets on when they’ll get together (like this is legitimately a scene in the story and i love it)

1, 4, 9, 11, 12, 18, and 20 for Zaria from the hp ask game?

1) What is their blood status? What are their thoughts on the concept of blood status?

Zaria is a pureblood. She comes from the Threlfalls (her father’s side) and the Blacks (her mother’s side) both of which are part of the Sacred Twenty-Eight. But thanks to her time spent with Sirius as a child, she had her eyes opened to how toxic “blood status” is and how completely ridiculous it is also. In the end, everyone is human and bleeds red; having Muggles in your family should make no difference. She thinks it’s just an excuse to make yourself feel superior, and she hates it.

4) What Hogwarts house were they sorted into? Why did the hat put them in that house over the others? Was it a quick sorting or a hatstall? Are they happy with their sorting? What Hogwarts house would they least fit into?

After a nearly six minute hatstall, Zaria was sorted into Ravenclaw, and she couldn’t have been more happy and content with that choice. The Hat was struggling between all of the houses for her as she showed such strong qualities for all of them. And while her great love of learning did play into where she was sorted, she also, like Harry, made her opinion known to the Hat. She refused to be in Slytherin, because while she has the cunning and ambition to be there, she knew that she would be smothered there (and she low key wanted to piss off her father). However, she also knew that Gryffindor was off the table because her father would NEVER accept that, and he also viewed Hufflepuffs as “weak” or “nobodies”, so Ravenclaw was the safest option. It was one that her father would at least mildly approve of, and it was the one house that she felt most at home at and she could thrive there. As for where she would least fit into, I would say Hufflepuff. It’s not she doesn’t have the qualities to be there because she sure does. But I think being around people of that kindness and helpfulness would make it so much harder to stay guarded and keep that wall between her and others.

9) Thoughts on Quidditch? Do they play? And if so, what position do they play?

So here’s the thing. Zaria actually really enjoys watching Quidditch, and she went to all of the matches her first year at Hogwarts... but then her father got on her case about it, saying that the sport was just a distraction from her studies and served no purpose in furthering her education. This was also around the time that she started to isolate herself and not grow too close to anyone, so starting in her second year, she stopped going to the games and focused on her school work. She didn’t go to a game again until her fifth year when Fred and George convinced her to watch them play, and she was reminded of how much she loved watching it. And now one of her guilty pleasures is watching Fred play. And besides flying class, she’s never been on a broom, so needless to say, she’s never played Quidditch, but Fred does try to teach her and it’s an adorable bonding moment.

11) What is their patronus? What happy memory do they use to conjure it?

Her patronus takes the same form as her animagus which is a snow leopard. There are a couple of memories that she uses to conjure it, but the main one is the moment when Fred and George claimed her as their friend. At this point in time, she wasn’t sure what their relationship was exactly, but she thought it was more of just “work buddies” or something along those lines, where she helped them on their pranks and inventions and in return, she got have a bit of fun. But then comes a day when some stuck up Gryffindor is hella rude to her because she’s a Threlfall, and the twins immediately stand up for her and come to her defense and later saying they did it because they’re her friends. And she’s just blown away at how casually and easily these two looked past her status as a Threlfall and never once judged her for it. It was one of the best moments of her life, to be completely accepted for who she is, and not because of her family.

12) What is their boggart? What happens to it when they cast riddikulus?

Her boggart is her father, Nathaniel Threlfall, and she doesn’t actually know what happens when she casts riddikulus because she’s never done it. There’s a moment during PoA when, much like with Harry’s class, Lupin has the fifth years face a boggart. However, the moment she realizes that they’re doing that, she sneaks out of class pretending to sick because she already knows what her boggart is going to be. And she can’t have the school knowing that her father is her worst fear. That would open up wayyyy to many questions that she can’t answer. So she avoids facing it, and later has a conversation about it with Lupin, who is very understanding, and after explaining things to him, he doesn’t force her to face the boggart.

18) Which Unforgivable Curse would they be most likely to use? What would be the reason for it?

Zaria has never once ever considered using the Unforgivable Curses. After seeing what they were capable of, she swore to herself that she would never use them under any circumstances... and then comes the Battle of Hogwarts... and her father aims his wand at Fred with the intention to kill. And without thinking, she jumps between them and utters the Killing Curse at her father, showing just how far she’s willing to go to save her loved ones. That is the one and only time she ever uses an Unforgivable Curse.

20) Which Deathly Hallows (wand, stone, or cloak) would they want? Why?

She would use the resurrection stone without hesitation in order to say goodbye to Sirius. That’s two times in her life now when he’s been taken from her, and she’s been unable to say goodbye. First when he was taken to Azkaban and second when he died in OotP. She wasn’t there at the Department of Mysteries when he died. She was at Hogwarts with no clue as to what was happening, and it wasn’t until Dumbledore broke the news to her that she found out. And it kills her that she never got to say a final goodbye to him. So that’s definitely what she would use the stone for. She has no interest in the other Deathly Hallows.

6) What is one word you would use to describe your oc’s appearance?

Regal. With her night black hair and gray eyes, she already stands out with this sort of classic beautiful look to her, but it has to do more with the way she holds and presents herself. Because she was raised in a very strict, high class manner, her demeanor reflects that. She has this quiet way of demanding attention and respect that’s reminiscent of a queen.

16) What is your oc’s strongest childhood memory? Why and how has that impacted him/her?

I wouldn’t say that there’s just one memory that has impacted her. It’s more that the first four years of her life spent with Sirius, and the other Marauders and Lily, impacted her. Thanks to her near perfect memory, she remembers everything from those years with Sirius despite how young she was, and the values and principles that he instilled in her made such an impression that she carries them with her even 10+ years later. He helped shape her into the person that she is. If it wasn’t for him, she’d be on her way to being a Death Eater. She’s forever grateful to him and those years spent with him.

25) If your oc has a soulmate, who is it?

While she doesn’t have a legit soulmate, like it’s not a soulmate au story, she has one in every other sense of the word, and that is Fred Weasley. To put it simply, they complete and complement each other perfectly. They challenge one another, fight for each other, and bring out the best in each other.

61) What is the general impression your oc gives other people?

Those who don’t know her view her as nice but distant. Like she’ll be kind to you and help you out but doesn’t seem to want to form any sort of connection. And that’s intentional. She has a very strict set of rules to follow that her father has set up for her when it comes to having friends, so for her it’s easier to just not have any. She purposely keeps up a wall between herself and others.

I want to know more about Zaria and her family connections?

Ohhhh alrighty!!

So starting with her dad: Her father is Nathaniel Threlfall, a man well known for being a Death Eater and a very ruthless, powerful wizard (think Lucius Malfoy times 10). He’s an extremely charming, influential man, to the point that Voldemort kept him close rather than risk him going off and gaining his own followers. Behind closed doors however, Nathaniel is cold hearted and abusive, something that they keep hidden from the public. The Threlfall family is an old pureblood family known for producing Slytherins.

Her mother, Aquilla Threlfall, is sister to Bellatrix, Narcissa, and Andromeda (I think that’s her name; I could be wrong though). As a result, Aquilla is a very stern, no nonsense kind of person. So through her mother’s side, Zaria has Aunt Bellatrix, Aunt Narcissa, Uncle Lucius, and cousin Draco.

So, as you can see, her family ties aren’t great lol. Her family both close and extended are some of the most corrupt, evil people.
