somebody brought him in because they thought he was sick but it turns out he was just covered in pollen from shoving his face into flowers for their nectar

I recently obtained a Sprigatito from a professor, and I'm just now realizing that I actually don't really want to have a whole trainer journey thing. What can I do to make home life more comfortable for Via? We already go on daily walks (and she has the cutest little harness) and I'm doing my best to find a house/apartment that's closer to nature (I live in a city as of right now), and I have some pokemon grass in my apartment already, plus I take her to the nearest parks whenever we have time, but I think I could do better.
thankfully sprigatito adapt very well to the house pokemon lifestyle! they tend to be chill little guys.
everything you're doing know is great, but there are a few other things you can provide to help her thrive. while you should obviously have a UV lamp for her to bask in, make sure she also has access to somewhere to bask in true sunlight! the more unfiltered, the better- a catio/screened-in balcony is great for a spriggy to get that access to fresh air and unfiltered sunlight that they really need. you'll know she's doing well when she smells like fresh flowers!
i'd also make sure that you give her a source of moving water, such as one of those fountains, and also let her have some time in your shower a couple times a week. sprigatito are picky about their water, and they're also prone to dehydration; you can help keep her healthy and her fur in good condition by giving her the chance to experience "rain" with a soft spray of water from above.
finally, in addition to the grass, i'd make her a nice planter of a variety of herbs and flowers! she'll help keep the flowers in good shape by tending to them, and it'll give her a nice place to lounge to have her own little "garden"
good luck with her! she sounds like a sweetie!

You're in Paldea right? What's your opinion on the Treasure Hunt? I know that a lot of the kids in the humanities track do volunteer work, do you ever get any of them at the shelter?
we got lots of volunteers and interns at the shelter from naranja-uva! one of my coworkers, makao, actually started out as a treasure hunt intern.
conceptually, i'm not opposed to the treasure hunt- i think it's a fun way for students to branch out a little bit and find something they really enjoy. i don't think it's for everyone, though. to be honest, dropping everything for a month is the sort of thing you can really only do if you have the resources for it, so it can be really tough for some of the students who are on financial aid or only at the school on scholarship to participate in. my boss only takes on an intern when she knows we have the money to give them a salary, but there are definitely treasure hunt internships that are unpaid.
it's also just...not particularly academic? some teachers offer courses during the treasure hunt, but the focus is largely on going outside of the academy. i'm starting my master's program next school year, and i won't be taking part in the treasure hunt as a result.
so, i think it's a neat program for people who want it! but it's not the kind of thing everyone is going to enjoy or want to do, and i wish some of our more academically-minded schools and public schools got more attention. N-U tends to hog the spotlight.

Can Cutiefly drink people’s emotional auras or is it just that they closely resemble the energy that blooming plants give off?
yup, it's just that they get confused and think they're looking at flowers! cutiefly feed on nectar and pollen. but as fairy types sensitive to a sort of life force aura, they can get mixed up by certain emotional displays that resemble the auras of flowers they like. that's why they poke people who are excited and happy- they think they're headed for a snack!

a big ass truck carrying like a million jars of honey got totaled by a druddigon just outside of town and the driver is a-ok his abra teleported him out in time dont worry about him BUT a lot of the jars broke in the crash apparently and its been leaking out of the truck for a while and its attracting a LOT of pokemon. WE CALLED THE RANGERS! but its apparently going to take a while for them to show up and uh i need to know whether i should like stop them?? discourage? theres probably some broken glass in that honey probably?
im assuming the situation has been handled already given how deep in the askbox this is...first off thank you for calling the rangers!! obviously i couldn't help you out with this in a timely manner, but you called the people whose job it is to handle things like this first, and that was the right thing to do.
in a situation like this, there's not a lot you can do on your own, unfortunately. being out on any road is a really vulnerable position to be in, and even moreso when there are agitated pokemon nearby. when a bunch of pokemon gather to feed, it brings up the energy in the area, and that's a really easy situation for fights to break out. you definitely wouldn't want to be nearby if moves start flying everywhere! even though a couple pokemon might get cut here or there by the glass in this situation, an all-out battle starting would be even more dangerous. the best thing to do here is just to stand back and keep yourself safe, and help direct traffic away if you can do so safely. the rangers will make sure no pokemon leave with glass on them!

Bonjour there, monsieur!
My name is Randolf Von Terros, a nobleman of the Kalos region.
My daughter Marigold, she is an absolute gem, positively heavenly child, and normally, I am in no dire needs of aid in terms of acquiring the finest and most rare of both items and Pokemon for my little Ange.
But I'm afraid I've come into a bit of bother as of late. You see, my darling has fallen absolutely madly in love with this bizarre creature from the Alola region, some ghastly thing called a 'Guzzlord'. From what I've heard tell of it, even if I -could- find one, even our mansion and all its lavishing could not contain a beast such as it, not to mention its appetite.
But my daughter is not one to take no for an answer, and I'm not one to -accept- no as an answer, in regard to her. Can you perchance recommend an alternative Pokemon? Something similar, if at all possible.
Tumblr media
well. im very glad you're making a good choice about not getting her a guzzlord! aside from being extremely rare, they aren't pokemon that most people can care for. i know i certainly couldn't!
a more suitable pokemon for her might be something like a morpeko or a munchlax! they have similar food-related behaviors. munchlax has a more easy-going personality than morpeko, but it does evolve into snorlax, which are obviously much bigger and harder to care for. morpeko, on the other hand, need to be handled properly to keep them from entering hangry mode, but outside of that they're social little guys that love attention. of course, make sure to help your daughter research both of them before getting one, but they could both be good matches!

How would you care for a uh nonstandard typing, like say a firetype digglette
you mean like in the event we find a new variant typing for a pokemon?
the first thing we look at when deciding a pokemon's care needs is its morphology. a caniform pokemon needs much different care than an avian pokemon for example. in the case of diglett, a mole pokemon that primarily lives underground, we would look towards things like soil type, burrowing needs, and food sources found underground.
following that, we observe a pokemon's natural behaviors and environment. perhaps this hypothetical fire type diglett lives in volcanic areas and digs through rich, hot volcanic soil. it may consume mineral desposits, which could provide a different typing. how much time does it spend in the sun, since it's likely more heat-resistant than kantonian and alolan diglett? is it solitary, or does it live together with other diglett?
typing is honestly one of the last things we look at, since environment influences typing. obviously, a fire-type diglett is not going to spend much time near water- but then diglett, as tunnelling pokemon, already do that. it's important to know the typing of a pokemon to help keep it happy and thriving, but a lot of care is determined outside of that.
