I think you're truly something special
Just what my dreams are really made of
Let's stay together you and me boy
There's no one like you around, oh baby
There’s a storm
I can’t really explain it
I'm so into you now, I want to be more than a friend of you now
When they ask, I mention my baby girl in the interviews now
And I don't bring the problems from the '90s into 2 thou’
There's no reason to have a friend or two now
Cause the kid's ready to tell you how he feel in a few vow's
Maybe, I'm speaking general now
But girl I'mma do whatever just to keep a grin on you now
Where I go, they wear bikini's in the winter too now
What you think about, tan lines on the skin of you now
Why wouldn't I wanna spend a few thou'
On 5th Ave. shopping spree's, and them dinners to Chow's
I ain't concerned what other men would do now
As long as when I slide up in you, you growl
And any dude with you, he better be a kin of you now
And I ain't jealous it's the principle now, I'm so into you
I, really like
What you've, done to me
I can't really explain it
I'm, so into you
I, really like
What you've, done to me
I can't really explain it
I'm, so into you
Come on ma, it's more than a flashing
I woulda traded it all, in orderly fashion
My villa in Florida we crashing
Just off the shore, so you can hear when water be splashing
The drop top three and a quarter we dashing
The flawless diamonds, and the border we flashing
The money, we oughta be stashing
I make sure every quarter be cashed in, I can't really explain it
My friend be thinking I'm slipping, these girls be thinkin' I'm tripping
What kinda weed he be smoking, what type of drinks he be sipping
Sweet thing, just to think of you dipping
Would have me with the blue's so hard, you would think I was crippin'
Now, you relaxing in the Benz, credit cards with no limits
So you don't worry about maxing when you spend
Ever since you've been asking about the friends
How'd you like it if, both our name's had Jackson on the ends, uh
I, really like
What you've, done to me
I can't really explain it
I'm, so into you
I, really like
What you've, done to me
I can't really explain it
I'm, so into you
I don't wanna trip, but truth is
Girl the way you cook a steak, remind me of those strips in Ruth Chris
You love my smile, no matter how chipped my tooth is
With you, it ain't because my whips is roofless
Or sit on chrome dipped dub deuces
And you ain't flattered by Canary and VS dipped Jesuses
Other ballers look dumb when they press you, five and sixes
You don't let them kinda numbers impress you
Even though I was somewhat successful
Being a player was becoming too stressful
But every since, the superwoman has come to my rescue
My winter's been wonderful, my summer's been special
Let's fly to St. Bart, while the villa be painted
Just so we can get really acquainted
The love is real, there's no way it could feel like it's tainted
But I can't really explain it, uh, yeah
I, really like
What you've, done to me
I can't really explain it
I'm, so into you
I, really like
What you've, done to me
I can't really explain it
I'm, so into you
I, really like
What I feel, when I'm with you
You're a dream come true
Don't you ever leave my side
Cause it feel so right Oh baby, oh I
I really like
What you've, done to me
I can't really explain it
I'm so into you
I really like
What you've, done to me
I can't really explain it
I'm so into you

Section 4
This week was full of information that I hadn't critically thought of before. I decided to highlight the key parts of the readings that hit me the most.
Nirmala Erevelles, “The Color of Violence: Reflecting on Gender, Race, and Disability in Wartime.”
“Thus, while disabled U.S. war veterans may be able to anticipate at least a minimal level of services and social support when they return from war, disabled veterans and civilians in war-torn areas of the third world face an inadequate, overburdened, and/or nonexistent infrastructure in service provision for disabled people.” (Nirmala Ervelles)
Tumblr media
I liked discussing the war and disability because it opened my eyes a little more than they were before. I knew about how the military treated people with a range of disabilities like how they would pick and choose which disabilities weren't “too bad”. But then we talked about that fact that many veterans come out of war disabled. This can be physically or even mentally.
Chris Chapman, “Reconsidering Confinement: Interlocking Locations and Logics of Incarceration.”
“Criminalization and class oppression were thus central to the earliest forms of confining disabled (and nondisabled) people. One of the earliest institutions was the almshouse or poorhouse, which housed poor, disabled, widowed, orphaned, and sick people, in a relatively undifferentiated manner. In practice, early jails, poorhouses, and even ‘general hospitals’ confined the same undifferentiated populations together. The only common theme was poverty because nobody with other options chose to live in any of these spaces” (Chris Chapman)
Tumblr media
This shooooooook my ass. Like we really are out here sending people away because they are different?! And then in class, we also talked about how people with disabilities were separated from others in school. Another thing that woke my ass up was the fact that pregnant people always disappeared in school and now I know that we've been shipping them off to other schools. Likee????
Nirmala Erevelles, “Crippin’ Jim Crow: Disability, Dis-Location, and the School to Prison Pipeline.”
“The school-to-prison pipeline is a ‘multidimensional process that funnels large numbers of minority students from the classroom into the adult prison system’ (Aul IV 2012, 180). This trajectory maps out the problematic continuities between mass schooling and mass incarceration, where one subset of students located at the complex intersection of race, class, and disability find themselves as social outlaws for almost the entire span of their lives in school and thereafter. Here, I invoke the school-to-prison pipeline not merely to refer to the education and criminal justice systems but also to a complex network of laws, rules, and policies supported by the exploitative political economy of late capitalism that Michelle Alexander (2010) has called the New Jim Crow.”
Tumblr media
Then lastly we talked about the school to prison pipeline. This was something that I had heard of before but didn't quite understand. Now I see what was meant when they used the word pipeline. It is almost like schools strict policies are enforcing criminal futures. I liked thinking about how when a  person of color in school acts up, they are punished repeatedly. The crazy thing is, most of the time the kids are just being kids. They aren't doing anything illegal, but just childish and or stupid. (Nirmala Ervelles)

Nirmala Erevelles defined the school-to-prison pipeline in “Crippin’ Jim Crow: Disability, Dis-Location, and the School to Prison Pipeline” as “a multidimensional process that funnels large numbers of minority students from the classroom into the adult prison system.” The image above may seem like an exaggeration, but every day black students are shoved out of school doors into police cars, alternative schools, or into the streets. The students are put into a system that essentially breaks them down and then spits them out, to deal with a society that has wholly stigmatized them. A world where they can not get a job, an education, food, or governmental help. How can we expect these students to succeed when we provide them with institutions designed to watch them fail?
Erevelles refers to this cycle as a “hamster wheel.” With each turn, the wheel becomes more disabling. The school thrusts these students into prisons where they are often disabled then places them on the streets with nothing in which their disability increases with no medical help. Stuck in this vicious cycle, these people become inmates for the second, third, fourth time, and so on. In “The Color Of Violence: Reflecting on Gender, Race, and Disability in Wartime” Erevelles talks about how disabled people who can not work are seen as not valuable, therefore not deserving of health services. People of color coming from the incarceration system who are disabled are not only seen as defective for their disability but their race and social status of ex-felon.
Erevelles talks about the different reactions instructional faculty has to students based on race. Black students are seen as “choosing to act out” while white students are provided with additional resources to help them succeed. Queer students of color are seen as emotionally unstable. These labels do not leave students as they grow older. In “Reconsidering Confinement: Interlocking Location and Logics of Incarceration” by Chris Chapman, Alison C. Carvey, and Liat Ben- Moshe the authors talk about the “unworthy poor versus the deserving poor.” Once again the poor black community is seen as undeserving as if they want to be poor and have brought it upon themselves. The poor white community is viewed as deserving of government assistance. There is a common theme that tends to run rampant through society: black people deserve the vile mistreatment of institutions.

Special Education: Necessary for Accessibility or Chosen to Quarantine?
In many United States schools, specifically in United States public schools, the concept of the “Special Education” classroom has been normalized. These specific rooms have been set aside as a separate space for those with disabilities enrolled in the public school system. On the most basic level, looking at these spaces from an optimistic point of view or even looking at them through the lens of the medical model of disability, special education classrooms provide a space in which students whose accessibility needs (whether they be physical or sensory) which may not be able to be met in the typical public school classroom (small, crowded, oftentimes housing student-teacher ratios of about 30:1) can be met more easily. However, there are more factors to consider.
Some scholars and activists view special education classrooms as a socially sanitized form of quarantining those with disabilities, similar to the way that those with disabilities are often forced into prisons as a last resort to “separate the normal us from the depraved them,” as is discussed in Chris Chapman’s “Reconsidering Confinement: Interlocking Locations and Logics of Incarceration.” Nirmala Erevelles writes in “Crippin’ Jim Crow: Disability, Dis-Location, and the School to Prison Pipeline,” “To all those who cannot pass for normal, there is always quarantine- the condition of temporary forced isolation.” These special education classrooms are the space housing “the condition of temporary forced isolation” that Erevelles is describing.
It may seem excessively cynical to view special education as another form of quarantine for those with disabilities, however, when we still live in a world where the value of a life with disability is measured differently from that of a life without disability, as is seen in Nirmala Erevelles’s “The Color of Violence: Reflecting on Gender, Race, and Disability in Wartime,” we have to question the motives behind the accommodations made for those with disabilities.

Hedley singer’s behaviour got worse with fame — and went unchecked by those around him, ex-drummer says
As Jacob Hoggard’s sex assault case continues to wind its way through the court system, the Hedley frontman’s former drummer is speaking out — to police and to CBC — about inappropriate behaviour he says he witnessed during his 11 years as Hoggard’s bandmate.
In an exclusive interview, Chris Crippin, 44, who was fired from Hedley in 2017, says the singer’s behaviour became increasingly reckless…

Hedley: We’re performing in Surrey, BC on Canada Day!!!!
Hedley: Remember to vote for us for Juno Fan Choice!!!!
Also Hedley: Chris who???????

Hedley has officially announced that Chris is no longer in the band. Did he quit? Was he kicked out? We will probably never know. Am I surprised by this news? Absolutely not. I've known for quite some time that Chris was never going to return after his illness. The signs were all there. Am I saddened by the news? No, not really. I stopped following the band shortly before the release of the latest album. Then the whole Chris fiasco went down, and that was the end for me. Yes, it sucks that he's gone, but it's for the best.  The band will never be the same again.
Thank your Mr. Crippin for years of memories.
