Blog post 2 of 2!
Part 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the inspiration! Black dress with puffed sleeves.
This is not a tutorial, you would definitely not be able to follow my words.
Tumblr media
I again began with a sketch to get my plan ready – it was after dinner and light was slowly fleeting.
Tumblr media
The bodice is a small rectangle of black cotton I hemmed, pinned to the doll, created darts to fit the bust (I had to created the illusion of tight-fitted smocking), then used a random stitch to get the look of smocking.
Tumblr media
I then took a much larger rectangle, and hemmed it. I was two thirds of the way through when my bobbin ran out of thread without my knowledge, so I rethreaded that. I then ran a running stitch along the unhemmed edge, to pull gathers that I would then pin and sew onto the bodice.
Tumblr media
I then sewed 2 6mm snaps onto the bodice, and pinned the skirt section to see how close it could be before not fitting the doll. The back was sewn together by hand, because my machine's arm is a bit too large for tiny doll work.
Tumblr media
I tackled the sleeves last, as I was the most scared of them. I sketched the vague shape of a bell sleeve with chalk, and cut two out. I hemmed the top curve by hand as I feared the curve to be too complicated to maneuver with a machine. The bottom hem was done with a machine, as was the elastic, zig-zag stitched on as Micarah Tewers warned me. To affix the arm to the bodice, I ran a running stitch across the top (in order to pull it into more of a puff), then stitched it in one section of the side.
Tumblr media
Bam! Here dolldie is, wearing the black dress. And holding the red dress as seen here!
Thanks for joining me :D

Hello Friends!
I'm a shitty seamstress but I want to share with you the process of creating the dress for my recent Instagram post!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'll start with comparison of dolldie and dodie – I didn't aim for complete accuracy, but something I was satisfied with!
Tumblr media
At first I was worried I wouldn't have enough of the correct colour, but after comparing with the doll, we were good to go.
Tumblr media
The construction of the top didn't go exactly to my plan, yet still worked out. Sewing tiny hems is so much more difficult than human-sized, so I often improvise. The sweetheart neckline did not hem the way I intended but we powered through.
Tumblr media
I then traced a circle onto the rest of the fabric, hoping it would create some kind of skirt. The pinning pricked me multiple times, I ended up with dry fingers. Sewing the skirt onto the bodice was hard, as the bodice was larger than the waist of the skirt, so I folded some darts to fit the waist – again, definitely not a professional doing this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But there you have it! dolldie and their new dress. All hand-sewn because I was too lazy to thread my machine and wind a navy bobbin.
Thank you for reading

Hello. Blog post 1 of 2.
Tumblr media
Red Dress as pictured
I started off by making a sketch of what I wanted to make, because sometimes I am EXTRA.
Tumblr media
Then I sewed the top chest panels, keeping the gathering problem for my future self to handle (she barely did)
Tumblr media
After a couple of fails trying to do a "sculpted" bodice section, I settled on just my normal rectangle of fabric, hemmed that, then added the top two panels.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I then sewed a broken hairband on by hand to act as the straps, and because I only own 3 colours of embroidery floss, I used sock darning wool for the tie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The closures this time around were snaps, two 6mm ones at the shoulder blade & middle back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I then hemmed, pleated, and sewed on the skirt section, finishing the red dress! Expect a post featuring it on my Instagram soon!

I face revealed on twitter and Instagram yesterday, and realised I did not actually clarify my boundaries, so thought I'd make a blog post about them to repost everywhere.
Boundaries
Resharing
Reposting edits I have made of dolldie is A-Okay! Just don't claim my work as your own, make sure to tag me in the post or caption.
DO NOT EDIT OUT MY WATERMARK. IT IS THERE FOR A REASON.
Do not reshare my face! (retweets, quote-retweets, etc.) That is intentionally something only I'll share with my account – even if it's a screenshot where my face is tiny, please just don't :)
I posted a story with my arm in it that was screenshotted and edited. This crossed a boundary because I do not want my stories screenshotted without my consent.
Don't keep interacting if I seem disinterested! You're making it awkward for the both of us.
Conversation
I'm uncomfortable with nsfw speech
Generally, if you send my Instagram story (because you can't reply to it), it oversteps a little bit – I have that feature turned off for a reason
Don't refer to me by my real name if you're unsure about our relationship. dolldie is fine if we aren't mutuals / close.
Compliments are fine, but I draw the line at serious sexualisation. Sure I've not had this experience before, but I would like to avoid it!
Fanart
I don't expect to get fanart, but if I ever were: Not of me! Of the doll is alright. I fear my irls finding me through a secondary account.
I've grown to not mind drawings being made of me, what I mean is; you may draw me, but don't share it online :)
I hope that's everything! I'll keep editing this one if I come across other things I have to clarify.
