"It even connects to your smart phone!"
Well... that's a huge downside for something to have, don't like that
#don't like it cause not only might it be harvesting data on me; but that also means it probably is real susceptible#to the manufacturer just deciding they don't support it anymore; specifically with software#and of course that not just meaning 'not support' but meaning 'we've bricked your working device'#like I get why people like it; the convenience of your whole life in the palm of your hand#but I don't trust like that#to me it's an unneeded massive point of failure that risks me not actually owning the physical thing I bought#this is about a density meter for like... figuring alcohol content in home brewing#and like... neat... but the moment they said 'it even connects to your smart phone' that's a massive red flag to me and I don't like that#takes it from 'if I ever start brewing maybe I should get that'#to '...man... I don't know that I trust them not to brick my shit with hostile software'#know nothing about the company; but that's how I feel about all app based shit#maybe just like... measure my shit for me and keep and internal log... oh; and a usb port and the ability to interface with standard OSs#that would be nice; like then I can rip the logs off your thing onto my computer#but nah... I don't want a phone involved unless I plug it in with a usb#I'd rather it be a little less convenient for me; but not use a wifi signal#cause then you can't fuck with it; no one can fuck with it; except me when I plug direct into it#...don't want my shit connecting to the internet; and that's the other problem with apps#they pretty much can't mean anything but an internet connection... cause how else does it talk to your phone?#if it's not my computer; frankly it should be dumb and totally offline with usb ports (or other HDMI whatever) for communicating#tv should be a dumb blackbox; oven should be a dumb blackbox; sadly even thermostats and shit should be a dumb blackbox#this shit makes life easier... till it doesn't; and if I don't have total control over it then someone else does#like... if I have a closed system smart home; that's one thing; but if I use a standard one that means anyone can access it#both in terms of random employees being caught peeping on me (and tos that say they're allowed to gather data on my sexuality and shit)#to the fact that if it hooks up to the internet and someone can connect to it... they just have to get past security and they're in#like my car shouldn't fucking be harvesting data on me; that tos example wasn't random; that's lifted from one of car companies tos#online is vulnerable; online is unsecured more often than not; it's a fucking risk that isn't worth it#it's like all those keyless cars getting stolen cause all they gotta do is catch your fob's signal and then spoof it#I want it dumb and connecting to nothing 95% of the time#sometimes I want it dumb and connecting only with a direct wire#I in theory might want it smart but on a closed home network I have complete control over

okay i guess people are coming to tumblr from reddit so i figured i'd make my own guide because the other ones piss me off
so first things first
you're going to want to change your pfp/header/blog description off of the defaults. tumblr has a pretty big bot problem so blogs with default pfp/headers are usually a block on sight for most people. you may also want to make a post saying your new from reddit and maybe reblog some things.
thats the most important thing the rest of this is pretty optional
you're going to want to go into settings under the dashboard tab and change some things.
Tumblr media
Endless scrolling: preference thing, i prefer to have it on but you could turn it off if you wanted
Show timestamps on posts, reblogs, and notes.: you're going to want to make sure this is on, posts circulate on tumblr a lot longer than they tend to on other sites. seeing posts from 5+ years ago is a pretty common occurrence.
Shorten long posts: turn this on, you don't want to get color of the sky'd.
Use blog colors when viewing blogs: another preference thing, i personally have it on but there are many reasons you might want to turn it off.
Tumblr media
Best Stuff First: you're going to want to turn this off if you want a chronological dashboard.
Include stuff in your orbit: most people will tell you that you must turn this off but you really don't have to, i turn it on myself from time to time. it just puts stuff the people you follow have liked on your dashboard occasionally.
Include "Based On Your Likes!": another one most people will say you need to turn off but you don't really need to. personally i leave it off because if i want to see stuff based on my likes i just go to my for you page.
Include followed tags post: you can turn this one off if you want, i'm not sure why you would follow a tag if you didn't want to see posts from it occasionally.
Enable colorized tags: a preference thing, you can turn this off if you want.
Snooze Tumblr Live: you probably should turn this on but i got tired of turning it on every week so i just ignore the tumblr live stuff. whatever you do don't use tumblr live it's run by another company and harvests your data.
next your gonna want to go to your blog settings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Enable custom theme: i would really recommend turning this on. it lets you do a bunch of crazy stuff with your blogs theme (including just straight up editing the html) and it also gives you back your [blank].tumblr.com url instead of your just using the tumblr.com/[blank] url.
Share posts you like: makes your likes public, i would recommend turning this off.
Share the Tumblrs you're following: makes the blogs you follow public, i would recommend turning this off.
now for some feature of the site
Tumblr media
this is the like button, you press it if you like something. you can only like a post once. some users will bitch at you if you use it, kill them.
Tumblr media
this is the reblog button, you press it if you want something to show up on your blog. you can reblog a post as many times as you want.
you can add tags, text, images (anything you could put in a post) on a reblog but you don't have to.
Tumblr media
this is the reply button, you press it if you want to leave a comment on a post. it's kinda strange and i don't like using it.
tags
tags are cool, you can use them to find things or organize the stuff on your blogs.
some people say the search function doesn't work which just isn't true. sure searching for the content of a post doesn't really work but searching by tag works pretty well in my experience.
to do this type the tag you want into the search bar and then click "Go To #[tag]"
Tumblr media
you can also filter tags if you don't want to see posts with that tag, they'll still show up on your dash they'll just be blurred and you'll need to click on them to see them. it will say which tags it has that are causing it to be filtered.
people also often use tags to leave a little comment on posts or communicate back and forth or hold additional information.
community labels
i don't really see people talking about these, i don't think many people use them, but your probably going to want to set these to either "Show" or "Blur"
Tumblr media
note: if you set a label to "Hide" posts with that label will not show up for you at all
iirc all of these are set to "Hide" by default so remember to change that setting if you want to.
one last thing: the queue
the queue is pretty neat, if you want to reblog something later, but don't have a specific time in mind, you can queue it!
you can change how many things in your queue are posted a day and what times of day they get posted on your queued post page.
Tumblr media
and thats everything i can think of.
apologies if i forgot anything.

Water Festival Break
So, it was Water Festival here in Cambodia and I took this opportunity to leave this country. Well, I always do when there's more than 3 days off!
This is my first time sleeping in KLIA 2 airport. I had a midnight layover at the airport and had to be a homeless woman, sleeping on the chair! What a great bag packer experience! It's surely not fun!
Tumblr media
I know I just came back from Malaysia last month and I made my way back again. This is because my beloved cg leader was getting married in a very beautiful place called Suffolk House. I don't really like attending weddings but this one, exceptional. Cause I have amazing friends to be with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Didn't take picture with the bride and groom. How sad! haha
We hang out after the wedding at MugShot and had a great time fellowshipping with one another
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Most of my time was spend with my family. Went to have meal in Harvest Inn and Four Season Desserts on the first day when I landed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, last Sunday I had an unpleasant encounter with a contractor who had defrauded my auntie of her money. The contractor showed up at their house, inquiring about the state of the work done a few years back. As a general rule, it's best to avoid engaging with such individuals. However, my aunties, being overly kind, fell for the contractor's ploy and handed him RM350 for paint. He vanished without a trace after receiving the money. My auntie made numerous attempts to contact him, but he consistently offered excuses.
By the time I returned to Penang, three weeks had passed, and the contractor had yet to fulfill his commitments. He even resorted to blocking my auntie on WhatsApp. I reached out to him on Friday, employing a polite tone, and requested that he complete the job for which he had been paid.
He pledged to deliver the paint and the workers on Sunday morning at 8:30 AM. However, he failed to show up. At 9:30 AM, I called him again, maintaining a calm demeanor despite my simmering anger. He continued to provide the same lame excuse about sick workers. His evasiveness pushed me to my limits. I hadn't eaten breakfast and was feeling particularly irritable. I confronted him over the phone, demanding that he honor his commitment.
I persistently called him until I was certain he had picked up, reiterating my intention to settle this matter that very day. He assured me that he would deliver the paint by 1 PM. Initially, I was willing to accept the paint, but upon reflection, I decided to demand a refund instead. I insisted on a bank transfer to my account. Hesitantly, I provided my account number, fearing that he might exploit it for fraudulent purposes. However, after examining his text messages and communication style, I concluded that he lacked the sophistication of a cybercriminal.
Stuck waiting from 10am until 1pm, I was left fuming with frustration. His incessant stream of voice messages filled with excuses on my auntie's phone was unbearable, so I decided to switch off the data. Consumed by anger, I lashed out at my aunties, which I deeply regret. Seeking justice, I resolved to file a police report. Accompanied by my aunties, we headed to the police station and lodged a formal complaint.
Tumblr media
It didn't take long to do a police report. So I sat down and decided to threaten the scammer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While threatening him, I had to send voice message to him in the end as he said my English was too difficult for his level as he mentioned he only completed his education up till year 9. Not sure if I should pity him or laugh at him.
I was stern. Making sure he knows that I'm demanding enough. And he voice message me and said that it was unfortunate for him to meet up with me. And I replied him the same way. hahahaha
Tumblr media
He never fail to kept giving excuses. As usual, I turn off the data and didn't want to listen to his excuses. Then I pretended that I was driving to the police station and couldn't reply him.
Tumblr media
Right after the text: "I'm at the station already. Should I proceed?", I received RM350 in my account!
Boy! You don't know how happy I was. Jumping and shouting for joy!
I finally won the scammer! I was polite enough to thank him, bless him and then block him!
I was so relief and manage to have a proper meal with my parents at Gertak Sanggul. Not the best meal, but I was able to have my mind at rest.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My dad sold my first car. My very first beloved Kelisa that I drove to high school, university and all over Penang. It was time to say goodbye.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And before I head back, I must meet up with Ralphie. And he invited a lamp post with him. hahahaha!
I won't be seeing Ralphie until next year April. I think I'm going to miss him when I come back in December and February. Isokeh. Time past very fast.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's just a short trip of 3 days 2 nights. But it was so fulfilling and overwhelming at the same time.
Loving every moment spend in Penang with my loved ones.
