im counting the "free space" as. free. so i only technically finished one wip so far, but... we in business, baby!! if i could finish at least one more thing, i will be ecstatic.

one of my new years resolutions was to not be so harsh critically of my own works, writing or art. each piece must pass a merciless 'quality check' before i post it anywhere, but i'm trying to give myself less pressure. it doesn't necessarily mean they're of lesser quality (i hope not, anyway), it just means that i'm trying to be kinder to myself and not worry over it being my impossible definition of "perfect".

Do you respond to comments?

For the most part! Sometimes I don't really know what to say in response, but I appreciate every single comment I get. Like, I adore them all.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

(spoilers lmao) It's a tie I think, between Out on a Limb (in which Troy does die, but he saves Clementine and repays his debt, being remembered for the good choice he made in the end) and Electric Sheep (Dio and Luna's fates are left ambiguous, it's unclear if they're alive but at least they're together wherever they are)

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Any of the fluffier fics tbh, but a special mention for Taken by Storm. It's the last fic of the Nope series, and it shows that the gang is recovering from their ordeal and have hope for the future.

Do you get hate on fics?

I mean, I've seen offhand comments on Twitter, but honestly I haven't gotten any hate on Ao3 at least. :)

Do you write smut?

A tiny tiny bit. It's very rare. But we have Stay Classy for a direct smut thing, with like two other fics having references to sex. It's not really something I like to read or write, and have to be in a ver specific mood to write.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Oh god I hope not. Or maybe I do, maybe I want my old deleted (see also: gone forever) fanfiction.net fics to resurface somewhere.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

Nah. Not my thing.

What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I... dunno. I have a few that probably won't ever see the light of day, but I'd rather make that decision and leave it at "everything might one day get posted, but I don't know".

What are your writing strengths?

I think I'm pretty good at descriptions, and putting out my best work possible. The latter is a result of my OCD not letting me post something without passing a very strict self-imposed "quality filter," but still. It does show in the final product, stressful as it is to get there.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Sticking with something. Sitting down and writing. Also making more happen in scenes, with more dialogue.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

I've tried to pepper in some Russian in both Out on a Limb and it's just blood under the bridge for the Russian characters, and also some Spanish in Vencido, but it's all Google translated haha.

Yu Yu Hakusho :]

Favourite fic you've written?

It'll probably always be Out on a Limb. I worked so hard on it and I reedited it all and made it into a book through a website (I own the only copy so it's not illegal or anything).

🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction?��

I've always been super creative and into fandoms. As a kid, I would write Pokemon stories (one of my friends even did a "book report" on one of them hehehe). I had so much lore about Purtail, my made-up Pokemon OC. She had a backstory, canon interactions, friends, family, etc... idk, lots of story there. When I got into junior high, I was making stories about anime characters/more Pokemon (this time a swearing Sneasel). But those weren't technically "fanfiction" - I mean I guess they were, but they weren't published online. So when I was 13, I was searching Kiyoshi Mitarai (my Yu Yu Hakusho blorbo) and found... Fanfiction.Net? What's that?? Oh my god, stories? About my blorbo?? That other people wrote!? Whoa, I should write one too! I should write more, like some from Death Note and FMA and Pokemon and--!! And the rest is history.

2. Which of your WIPs is currently the longest?

That'd be the NOPE fanfic, which is 3422 words so far. I know, it's not a long thing, but I have bits and pieces for my WIPs before I polish and publish them.

3. Which WIP do you expect will end up the longest?

Maybe the Ashley Graydon Masked Apprentice AU? Depending on if I ever write more of it to create chapters.

4. Which WIP is your favourite to write/the most enjoyable to write? Why?

The Trane one is fun because Jane is just so unapologetically mean as a narrator. And she bashes Troy a lot, which is awesome.

5. Which WIP do you find the most intimidating to write? Why?

Probably the bark bark bark one bc I want to match the beauty and darkness of the two pieces of fanart that inspired it. And I want people to read it, I don't want it written off as "oh emi, making hongou and the kurashikis like each other just like you tried to peddle back in 2012, huh?" Like, no - that's not what's happening there. They're working together but Hongou is very much a bastard and very much getting what's coming to him anyway.

6. Which WIP do you experience the most self-doubt about. Why?

See above tbh. And I get nervous about the NOPE fic bc it's a finale of sorts to my series.

7. Which of your WIPs will you seek out a beta/sensitivity reader for? Why?

I don't use betas/sensitivity readers ever, so. None.

8. Have any of your WIPs been struck by the curse of writer's block?

LMAO like ALL of them? Plus several more I have let fall by the wayside for years??

9. Which WIP has your favourite OC? Tell us about them?

None of them have OCs...

10. Which WIP is the sexiest?

The Trane soulmate AU's got some smut in there, so that one.

11. Which WIP is the angstiest?

Tie between Kieran and Ashley. Kieran just deserves a hug and Ashley... well, he can have one too, but doesn't deserve it as much.

12. Which WIP has the best characterisation (in your humble opinion)?

I... I don't know. Lots of them feature characters with just a glimpse of a canon personality, so it's unclear how "accurate" they are written.

13. Which WIP has the best scene setting (in your humble opinion)?

I like the NOPE fic. It's a sweet piece from Emerald's POV - she gets to talk with Ryder this time. c:

14. Which WIP have you worked the hardest on?

Hard to say tbh. I think they're all about even.

15. Which WIP do you have the highest expectations for? Why?

I... think the Kieran one would probably be the most popular. The rest are pretty obscure haha.

16. Do you dream about any of your WIPs?

Dreams... I dunno, I don't think so.

I mean they're all kinda complex in their own way? I have to keep checking wikis and thinking over characterization.

I think the NOPE fic! Em has a lighthearted POV for the most part. :]

Off the Record: Ryder dreams of the Thing in the Sky and the glimpses of flesh and bone he’d caught inside it.

In Bad Taste: It’s when Angel’s ready to finally pack it up, when he’s ready to get his legs working to stand up and find whoever’s left alive, that he hears a rustle nearby.

Mottled: In the first hour after Ali died, Sang-woo felt absolutely nothing.

🐀 [Rat] Name three reasons why this WIP is great at being insert genre here.

(gonna insert genre as "hurt/comfort")

I have various WIPs, so I'll just pick a few~

"CLIPPED" (Adam Hazbin Hotel thing) - well this is self-explanatory, he gets his wings ripped off. that's the hurt. i have yet to write the comfort but it'll be there too.... just a bit.

"bhaals" - a durgetash oneshot thingy. gortash gets fucked up by da BRAIN but lives so.... it's also kinda the same idea. my durge (drace) is there for the comfort UwU

"save fellers as need saving" - kieran lives with no eyes au. the same hurt/comfort thing.

🎶 [Notes] Do you have any other WIP related things, like moodboards, character portraits, playlists or similar?

I usually listen to like... those long-ass youtube videos with a bunch of instrumental songs in one. but I do have like a tiny-ass writing playlist on Spotify that I use/add to occasionally.

this is all I have for that playlist so far, but they're good songs to just zone out and FEEL emotions to while i write :3

Okay I tried to find a WIP that I intend to publish that's either Zero Escape or Dangan Ronpa...

💯 [100] How many words does your WIP currently have? How many words do you hope it'll have when it's done?

So the one I found is titled "bark bark bitch" on Google Docs. It's about both the Kurashikis and Hongou making up "Zero" in the second Nonary Game. Inspired by that one fanart. Lots of dog metaphors, hence the label. It stands at 2320 words for now, and I have no clue how long I intend it to be tbh. It's currently just a jumble of words and sentences without much connecting them, unfortunately... but hopefully one day I will clean it up and make something of it.

🔎 [Magnifier] Is there a phrase/word you know you use too often? Will you change it in editing?

I mean not really a phrase, but I know I use dashes a lot for all my works. Sometimes double dashes. Probably more than I should. I sometimes cut them, sometimes not. Just gotta go with how it feels.

‍🎨 [Palette] If your WIP was a color, which color would it be?

"bark bark bitch" is uhhh I'd say a brownish in my mind. For Hongou's hair color and the background of that fanart hehe.

🎃 Do you write fics for certain holidays? Which is your favorite holiday inspired fic?

Sometimes for the Christmas season (and one Halloween ficlet too actually). I'd say my fave would be All is Bright, which was a Dangan Ronpa Secret Santa present back in the day. :)

4. What’s a word that makes you go absolutely feral?

hmmm I can't really think of a word immediately, but I'm not a fan of the word 'digits' for fingers. Dunno why, and sometimes I do use the word, it's just... weird.

18. Choose a passage from your writing. Tell me about the backstory of this moment. How you came up with it, how it changed from start to end. Spicy addition: Questioner provides the passage.

Ummm okay hang on...

And yet, despite all that, there’s a part of Sang-woo that would give Gi-hun the world if he asked for it.

Of course, he’d burn it, too, if Gi-hun wished. The two of them could watch from the stars how the earth they knew blazes and becomes a sun in its own right. Despite Gi-hun’s incompetence, Sang-woo can’t help but want to grant the man everything he’s ever wanted in life, to sit with him on the edge of the universe and watch the planets circle round and round until they’re all nothing but dust.

Another part of him, the leopard instinct deep inside, wants to eliminate the one weakness holding him back, to stand on his own without the burden of feelings. He wants to crash his lips against Gi-hun’s, to taste him in every way he can, and then tear into his throat and watch him bleed out around them both, savoring the last bit of life in his eyes as it fades.

The red would look beautiful on this tuxedo he’s been given.

So the wording of this passage (from Mottled, my Squid Game oneshot) was changed around a lot, but I ended up quite satisfied with it. I wanted to show how much I feel Sang-woo would love and feel loyal to Gi-hun, yet also want to destroy his only weakness in that same man he loves. Plus... metaphors are fun. :D

24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?

So it really depends on the project, but usually, it's just a "open Google Docs and start writing" sort of thing. And I'll leave it for days on end and just go back to it when I feel like it. There's really no planning unless it's a multichapter. Sometimes when I'm bored at work, I'll imagine where my stories are going, and sometimes I'll even write down scene ideas, but... it's not like a tried-and-true method, haha.

34. Thoughts on the Oxford comma, Go:

I... I like it? I know there's some discourse about it, but I do think it's necessary.
