dude my stepdad is so fucking funny. he is like a border collie he always has to be doing something. his job is being a media consultant/legal marketer for law firms and lawyers and he has a number of clients all of whom don't have stuff for him to do this week bc they're busy with Christmas stuff but he's jewish and doesn't care about that he just wants ENRICHMENT bc no one is answering his EMAILS. he was so bored he CALLED THE LOCAL PAPER AND VOLUNTEERED TO GO BOTHER METHODIST MINISTERS FOR THEM??? like he called like "is anyone covering (local thing with Methodist Church)" and they were like "yes but they won't answer our phone calls" so he was just like "I will go knock on their doors for you" and we live in a Very Small Rural Town so they were just like ??? okay sure ???
literally he is like one of those dogs where if you do not give them a job to do they will make their own job except in his case rather than "destroy your couch" the jobs he will come up with are things like "deputizing himself as a beat reporter at the local newspaper"
hilariously funny type of guy.

One of my fave things about SPN is that no one person always knows what to do.
Each one of the mains will have moments where they tailspin and demand, “What do we do?” or even lose hope and go so embarrassingly fatalistic.
But somehow, my favorite parts are when they lean on each other for support.

Things in 5Ds that I am still not over:
How, at the start of series, Yusei hasn’t seen his brothers in years. That his primary motivation to escape and find Jack isn’t even about revenge or his own well being, it’s that Yusei wants closure. That Yusei doesn’t imagine a life where he and Jack can be family again. The hug with Crow. His delighted smile. Yusei meeting Crow’s kids for the first time. Jack betrayed him and Kalin died but Crow. Crow was still around. Just not present. Yusei went years without having any contact with either of them, even though one of his brothers was right there.
Crow refers to the period before Kalin’s death as ‘we’. Which means they were a unit, or at least in contact, for a few months after the dissolution of the enforcers. Was that the nail in the coffin? Or was it a slow degradation? Jack living in an abandoned theatre and Crow building a home with Pearson, nothing (aside from trauma) was stopping them from reaching out to Yusei. Who again, I reiterate, was barely a teenager. They all were. They were children and they had personally made enemies with every organized gang in their hometown and didn’t even have each other.
Thinking about how Yusei blamed himself and the past few months of his life he’d had no company except for an increasingly unstable leader (who was also a scared teenager) and then things happen and he truly has nothing. How he probably thought Jack and Crow not being in his life was entirely deserved.
How when, after seeing his brother for the first time in two years, Crow says he built the bike himself, because he can’t bring himself to tell Yusei that after everything happened, he found a new family and his brother wasn’t in it.
How, after the bridge, after their symbol of finally, finally, having the privilege of possibility, these brothers who all had different lives and families in that interim, decide to live together,

Ackb and the kids and I went to Hershey Park for two days as part of my birthday celebration week. (Ondiru and Grandpa stayed home to keep each other company.) We had a really good time, despite not getting enough sleep due to being out of practice with hotels. We stayed at the Hershey Lodge, and the staff took extra nice care of us because of it being a special occasion.
1. The Howler is one of Ackb’s favorite rides. One of the best photos we took was this group selfie from the first day.
2. Waiting in the hotel lobby with a morning snack until it was time to catch the shuttle to the park on our second day. I’m sharing with the tweens the Tumblr posts Ackb and I have collected for them on a side blog.
3. We arrived an hour early as part of our resort perk and rode Comet a few times, then headed toward the part of the park that didn’t open until official start time at 11:00. Mokey and I are waiting by the bridge to go to Coal Cracker.
4. Wembley hugs me for warmth after getting drenched in the water park. The water was very cold. The air was warm, but it wasn’t sunny because of the wildfire haze.
5. Mokey’s favorite ride is Coal Cracker. She rode it once the first day and four times the second day with different combinations of us. We rode it all together the last time, despite the risk of getting our bags wet. There is no bag drop on this ride or nearby lockers. Everything turned out ok, and the ride was fun.
It was a fun trip, and it’s good to be home with Ondiru and Grandpa and the cats.
