Meta Marcy Wu

Marcy really does have that energy of like. Someone who doesn’t have a whole lot of ‘opinions’ on bigger matters (such as the conflict between Toads and Newts, Sasha and Anne, Maddie and her sisters, etc.) so she just sort of. Awkwardly waits and sits off to the side, kind of biding her moment for when it’s finally over. Letting others take charge so long as she gets her own little space to function in. She’s not against or for anyone in particular, she just needs people to decide for themselves who she should follow, Marcy prefers to be a follower and ONLY that- Her debut has her asserting her own control for herself, but she doesn’t seem to care much else about others, I’m afraid.

Contrast that with Anne, who needs her own control- BUT she also has the Heart, so she cares about others, she’s proactive and has agency despite initially being told to be reactive and not stand up for herself. Even if she can’t stand up for herself, she will stand up for others… And I think she was lowkey influenced by Sasha’s obsessive desire to protect the girls, and that played into Anne being a little bit toxic, but ultimately learning and having that inner fire to take a stance on things based on moral reasons, whereas Sasha seems more concerned for power than the actual social plight of the Toads- So even if Anne isn’t with the rebellion, it’s ultimately something she WOULD fully dedicate herself towards, like when we saw her stand up for the Frogs against Bog and the other Toads.

And like, I have to wonder if Marcy’s more hands-off, simple follower approach is lowkey what contributed to Sasha’s belief in controlling others, because it validated that- But at the same time, we talk about how Sasha might care more for Anne than Marcy, and we see how Sasha is frustrated by Toadie, who is but an echo chamber for her. So maybe while Marcy is convenient to her, she’s just a bit too passive and thus not as ‘fun’ as a friend as Anne, who is also a concern because she has genuine motive to question Sasha not just on the basis of their friendship, but people OUTSIDE of it, which Marcy doesn’t.

Anne being fiercely loyal and protective and sticking up for others, it also could’ve fed back into Sasha’s own tendencies as well. And of course these more proactive, in-your-face girls, always on the frontlines, are going to clash, while Marcy the forgotten follower, the wall-flower, the one in the background focused on more ‘nerdy’ things that are less glamorous, like logistics and whatnot… SHE’s the lynchpin that actually tips the scales- Because she’s the third girl who ‘sides’ with Anne between the initial conflict from Season 1. She’s the one with Andrias, flipping things up when Anne and Sasha are going to fight, contributing to that prophesized endgame.

Marcy is the one, ironically, with the power –albeit as an extension of Andrias really- and so she’s the antagonist who’s clashing with Sasha, who is also power-hungry, but really beginning to learn as well. Marcy is caught up in her own little fantasy land and world, both literally and figuratively, happily enjoying and watching as a witness and bystander, almost detached in a sense to really participate and appreciate it as a very real thing… And being separate and an ‘audience’ member, Marcy is of course forgotten by Sasha and Anne, who play the part of characters; Fitting, because in that one flashback, they were Captain Hook and Peter Pan, while Marcy worked back-stage, literally pulling the strings (well, rope) for Anne!

It’s Marcy who’s obsessed and fascinated with the meta of fandom and fiction, so of course she’s the one who steps back and observes it like media, takes the time to comment on it as if it were all tropes, watching and enjoying while for Sasha and Anne they participate directly without that kind of detached meta awareness, the kind someone like Andrias would have, because for THEM it’s real, there are stakes, power for Sasha and people for Anne! And Marcy is the backstage audience, fourth-wall crewmember, unnoticed by all who forget and ignore her, and she’s used to it. Maybe Marcy even enjoys and prefers it that way, and/or learned to- And it’s too late to pay attention, to see themselves as characters in that wider play and story and plot, unlike Andrias who notices and takes advantage… And may have been writing since who knows HOW early?

If I could get into meta, Marcy playing that quiet, unnoticed support role, doing whatever’s convenient- It reminds me of how the visual basis for your typical Ninja in black garb… It came from plays where performers in black garb would maneuver props, and the audience was supposed to intentionally ignore them, see them as separate from the actual story; But every now and then, one play might have a ‘twist’ where that background actor actually IS a character, and assassinates someone to reveal themselves as the hidden Ninja!

So maybe Marcy is like that… The background crewmember, not calling attention to herself in the acting role- In plain sight but we figure we’re meant to ignore, and so we’re utterly blindsided when she DOES strike! It’s Marcy who appreciates the little technical know-how and details, valuing the role that Frogs and agriculture play, considering Newtopian infrastructure, working back-stage in a Peter Pan play… Appreciating the writing conventions and tropes of her favorite games and fantasies, and so that in a way enables her to ‘game’ the system in a sense, play into it with her own hands, or even set up that game and story in the first place, because she knows how to make one!

She is the drummer while Anne and Sasha play guitar and sing, not as glamorous or recognized amongst a crowd, but just as vital as the rest… She’s a very META kind of person, befitting her choice of METAmorphosis as part of her drummer costume! You don’t pay mind to a caterpillar, but then little do you know, it becomes an even more unnoticeable cocoon… Only to sprout into a brilliant butterfly! But while the BLUE butterfly is associated with Anne and her connections back home through Pearl Paddock, who is representative of familial bond, remembering who you are… Marcy is disconnected, she’s a GREEN butterfly, green like the lilypads of Amphibia, and she wants to stay there!

And the best part, I think? I don’t think Marcy herself is even fully aware of what she’s doing… I doubt she sees herself as some clever manipulator. She’s just doing what she can, having her fun plans and machinations like in New Wartwood, but she’s not ACTUALLY approaching this as some devious mastermind- She’s literally just a kid! She gets caught up in her own things, because she is an autistic mood, and I get that! I resonate with that! And so it’s so easy for Marcy to be blindsided by HERSELF, by her own flaws and borderline antagonistic role in the story, to realize what she’s doing is kind of messed up and trivializing- Because we know that she WANTS to care, but it’s so easy and convenient for her to forget and play into the fantasy… Especially with someone like Sasha, and especially Andrias, to enable her, to provide that safety and support net that MARCY doesn’t complain about or take for granted, unlike that ‘ungrateful’ Anne, as Sasha might’ve one said!

And if Marcy isn’t really self-aware of her own issues or even the full messed-up scope of her actions, to take a look back and critically examine herself the way she might a character or even her own friends; Then that can also make her a victim to her own antics, just as Sasha kept burying herself into a deeper hole. And it’s hard to do the right thing, if you don’t even realize you’re messing up in the first place- Recognizing your fault is kind of one of THE foundations of actual reform, growth, and redemption. I think Marcy needs guidance, and she needs to show more initiative and take a stance not just for herself, but regarding others as well… And that can lead to her choosing between Anne and Andrias.

Andrias, whose name is like Anne’s but more fantastical, who is blue like Anne’s motif… And who looks after her like a good friend, makes things easier and promises they will be! And he’s invested into the fantasy, he doesn’t want to go home and complicate things, get into fights with Sasha, because it’s the person in charge who decides how it is, right? Which is why True Colors continues to concern me… Amidst, you know, the many OTHER issues as well.

Okay so basis of this Ninjago Amphibia crossover swap AU, the plot loosly follows the plot of Amphibia but with the Dumbass Trio in the place of the Calamity Girls. The Calamity Box was a relic in the Explorer's Club that a theif tried to steal before the Ninja stopped them. Lloyd told everyone not to touch the box but Jay got really curious, convincing Kai and Cole to take a look with him in the dead of night. No malicious intentions, just idiotic curiousity.

Cole replaces Anne, he gets zapped to Frog Valley and is taken in by the Plantars, quickly gains Wartwood's trust by defending them against the tax collector toads. He spends most of his time there aiding the townsfolk fighting off beasts while trying to figure out how to make the Calamity Box work again. The overprotective big brother to Sprig and Polly, still gets dragged into their hyjinks. Has accidently called Hop-Pop "gramps" a few times.

Kai replaces Sasha, gets zapped to Toad Tower, puts up a fight against the toads but is quickly overwhelmed and taken prisoner. Grime recognises that Kai is a powerful fighter and offers a deal, aid the toads and Grime will help Kai find his friends. Kai reluctently accepts the deal, just wanting to find Cole and Jay and return to Ninjago. He's more of a common footsoldier then a lieutenant.

Jay replaces Marcy, gets zapped to Newtopia, panics cuz he's no longer in Ninjago (causing him to fall down a flight of stairs and breaking his leg), meets Lady Olivia and Andrias and joins the Night Guard so he can venture out to find Cole and Kai. He has fun going out on adventures, but he can't help but worry about his friends and the others still in Ninjago. He vents out his worries and insecurities to Andrias over a game of Flipwart (Jay lost, but Andrias got blackmail materiel on the boy to use for emotional manipulation, sadly it still doesn't change what the Core has in store for him).

Season 1

- Plays out pretty much the same, Cole and the Plantars have various wacky adventures as he tries to find Kai and Jay and figure out how to get home.

- Kai is released earlier due to the deal he and Grime made, the herons that attack Toad Tower are scared away imedietly by Kai's fire. Grime is impressed, but both are using each other as a means to an end. Grime wants to use Kai to keep the frogs under check, Kai wants to find Cole and Jay and go home.

- Toad Tax happens. Cole imedietly notices the toad tax collectors are simply just stealing from the frogs so he fights them back. His eyes also flash blue for a moment. The tax collectors flee to Toad Tower and inform Grime of the situation. Grime plans on sending the entire army at the tower to Wartwood to teach the frogs a lesson, but Kai overhears and volunteirs to give the frogs a warning message.

- Cole and Kai reunite. Kai warns Cole about Grime and the Toads and the boys stage a plan to teach the toads a lesson on why you don't mess with the ninja. Kai returns to Toad Tower and tells Grime of a plan to "execute" Hop-Pop as his recent campaign against Toadstool has begun inspiring frogs to rise up, and executing the face of frog revolution will teach them a lesson.

- The events of Reunion stay mostly the same. The toads invite all of Wartwood to Toad Tower for a "peaceful celebration" to exectute Hop-Pop, meanwhile the boys begin to put their plan into motion. Kai stops Grime from exectuting Hop-Pop (ELEMENT OF SURPRISE!), and the big final fight is Cole & Kai vs Grime.

- The boys have Grime cornered, but just as he's about to admit defeat Toad Tower begins to explode and crumble due to Wally planting boom-shrooms. One explosion knocks Kai over the edge, Cole tries to pull him up but the ground beneath him is crumbling. Kai lets go of Cole's hand in an attempt to sacrifice himself so his friend can survive and find Jay, but Grime catches Kai midfall. The toads retreat into the woods, Kai once again their prisoner.

Season 2

- Cole and the Plantars leave to Newtopia to see if the newts know anything on how to get Cole home to Ninjago. When they arrive at the capitol city, they are attacked by barbariants, but are saved by Jay. They have an emotional reunion, drive out the barbariants and Jay takes them into Newtopia. Cole tells Jay about how he found Kai but the toads took him away so who knows where he is. Jay is releived to learn Kai is alright.

- The next day Jay introduces Cole and the Plantars to King Andrias. They talk the music box, Andrias suggests that Cole and the Plantars explore the city while he and Jay do some reaserch on the Calamity Box.

- Cole and Sprig bond over dead moms.

- Durring his research, Jay discovers some stuff about overworldy creatures and the prophecy surrounding the stones in the box. He decides to keep this to himself, thinking it to be seemingly unimportant. Little does he know, the Core is watching.

- Meanwhile Kai is being an absolute menace to Grime, and has driven away almost the entriety of the Toad Tower troops. Yunan eventually tracks them down as Grime is wanted by Newtopia due to what happened at Toad Tower. Kai initially uses this oppertunity to escape, but goes back to save Grime cuz ninja honor. Reveling in the victory, Grime begins to build a new toad army to take over Newtopia, Kai only helping so he can find away back to Ninjago.

- Andrias and Jay learn about how to recharge the stones using the three temples. The Plantars decide to return to Wartwood to get the music box from Hop-Pop's "scholarly contact," but Cole decides to go with them. While Jay is upset he understands the fondness his friend has for his frog found family and allows it.

- Durring his preperations for the temple quests, Jay discovers some more stuff about the box, what it does and what the ancient newts did. Jay is horrified at the aspect that Ninjago could be invaded if they charged the box. The Core threatens Andrias to deal with Jay before he learns too much, so Andrias lies to Jay saying that the newts have moved on from their conqureing lifestyle. Jay is willing to trust Andrias as he's been nothing but honest and kind to him, but he still has a little cautious suspision.

- The temple arc plays out the same, Jay charges the green stone of Wit, Cole partially charges the blue stone of Heart, Kai reunites with the boys and charges the pink stone of Strength.

- After the boys spend some time together, they head to Newtopia to return home. But then the toad rebellion happens and everyone tries to stop it, except Jay. Jay tries to stop Cole from closing the gates, trying to warn his friend about what the ancient newts did and his fears that Andrias might try to invade Ninjago, but Cole insists that Jay is just being paranoid and panicy as he usually is. This results in a fight that Cole wins.

- Andrias reveals his true colours and his plans to invade and conqure Ninjago. The three ninja fight him off and his frobots, but he drops Sprig out to his supposed death which causes Cole to fully resonate with the blue stone and unlock his Cole-amity Powers (I'm sorry for the awful pun), mixed in with his earth element abilities and Andrias gets destroyed, but Cole passes out. Jay manages to save Sprig and opens a portal back to Ninjago, Kai and Grime try to hold Andrias back, Cole and the Plantars make it to the portal, but Jay is impailed by Andiras's giant flaming sword. Everything is white and Cole finds himself in the monastery's courtyard with the Plantars, but no Calamity Box, no Kai or Jay

Season 3

- Lloyd, Zane, Nya, Wu and Pixal have an emotional reunion with Cole, and ask questions about what happened, where are Kai and Jay, who're the giant talking frogs? Cole tells them everything, about Amphibia, Andrias, the strange powers, what happened to Jay. After hearing his story, everyone at the monastery is determinded to figure out a way back to Amphiba so they can stop Andrias, get Kai and Jay back and return the Plantars home. Until then the frog family stays at the monastery.

- Back in Amphibia, Kai and Grime managed to escape Newtopia and flee to Wartwood. They unite together the people of the valley into a resistance, using Wartwood as a base.

- Jay is placed in a rejuvination tank to recover from his wound. Andrias sends out a cloakbot to hunt down Cole, but it was extremly unprepared for the full might of the ninja. Olivia and Yunan try to rescue Jay, but fail. The Core reveals itself and intends to make Jay it's host. While it would've prefered someone who could beat Andrias at flipwart, Jay was good enough to do. And thus "Day" is born (a stupid name but it's just like how Darcy was named, being a combo of "Dark Jay")

- After a lot of time and effort, the ninja make a portal back to Amphibia using a mix of highly potent Traveller's Tea and Cole's Calamity Powers. Nya insists on joining Cole and the Plantars back to Amphibia because she isn't going to stand by while her brother and boyfriend are still stuck in this world while a giant newt is preparing to conqure Ninjago. And so Cole, Nya and the Plantars return to Amphibia while Lloyd, Zane, Pixal and Wu make preparations to defend Ninjago for when Andrias invades.

- Emotional Smith sibling reunion, Kai introduces them to the Resistance and inform them that Jay is alive but taken prisoner. The Resistance increase their numbers while the ninja and Plantars go to learn of the stone's prophecy from Mother Olm (Nya is a little jelous that the boys get cool anime powers).

- Final battle time. Pt1, Begining of the End. Basing their plan on a Fritz Donigan movie, the Resistance fight off the frobot army and Andrias while Cole, Kai, Nya, the Plantars and Grime sneak into the castle to get the Calamity Box and rescue Jay. One Lava vs Yulivia dance fight later and they make it to the box, but it's a trap and everyone is captured by Day. Day calls the ninja out on how they've treated Jay; calling him expendable, the least valuble ninja, not taking his fears and worries seriously. Once the Resistance flees upon seeing their leaders captured the invasion of Ninjago begins.

- Pt2, All In. Lloyd has gathered an army of friends and foes to defend Ninjago from the overworldy invading forces. The Amphibia team manage to escape the castle, regroup with the rest of the ninja and make a plan to stop the invasion. Kai, Nya and Grime disable the sheild surrounding the castle while everyone else fights off the frobots. Andrias challenges Cole to a fight to decide the fate of Ninjago, while Kai and Nya fight Day (Grime distracting some frobots). Durring the fight, Nya protects Kai from a lethal blow, resulting in her getting "dis-armed." The two fights play off the same as normal, Cole being reinvigorated with rock instead of k-pop, Sprig bringing Andrias to his senses with Leif's letter, Day getting distracted by controlling Andrias allowing Kai to free Jay from the hivemind by cutting the helmet's cord.

- Speaking of Jay, the Core tries to lull him into staying with a world akin to Prime Empire and fake versions of the ninja. Eventually Jay sees through the Core's lies and stands up to it. He is able to be saved before the Core could fully assimilate him. Emotional reunion between the dumbass trio.

- Pt3, The Hardest Thing. The boys return to Amphibia to finish some little things, Nya stays in Ninjago to get her wound checked out. The moon then begins to fall and the boys unlock their true Calamity Forms as they fight off the Core with their calamity and elemental powers, but Kai and Jay quickly begin to tire out as this is they're not used to the powers unlike Cole. Having no other choice, Cole calls upon the powers of all three stones, destroying the Core but dying in the process. He then meets the stones creator who offers him a chance to become guardian of the multiverse, which he declines. The guardian brings Cole back to life and the boys say their goodbyes to Amphibia, returning to Ninjago at long last.

- All six ninja finally reunite. Jay builds Nya a cool robo prostetic, feeling guilty about being the one to cause her to loose an arm but Nya reassures him it wasn't his fault, it was Core. Cole talks to Lloyd about the whole dying and meeting the stones creators and them offering him the oppertunity to become guardian of the multiverse, to which Lloyd gets some de ja vu from the time he died after stopping the oni, meeting the FSM and getting offered a chance to join him. Zane makes records on Amphibia based on the stores Kai Jay and Cole have told everyone. Things quickly go back to some form of peacful normal, until another villain decides to attack the city. Just another day in Ninjago as they say

Ninjago Amphibia Swap - What Happened to Jay?

WC: 1138

Cole, Kai and Nya infiltrate Newtopia Castle to retreive the Calamity Box, stop Andiras's invasion on Ninjago before it can even begin, and save their brother. But something has happened to the Master of Lightning

"No wait!"

Cole, Kai and Nya turned towards the recently freed Olivia and Yunan. The pair of newts looked scared of what lay behind the door in front of them.

"Jay has…changed. He's no longer the boy you knew."

The ninja ignored Yunan's warning as they went to open the door, Nya grinning confidently, proud of how far the boys had come in their time in this foreign realm. "Neither are Kai and Cole!"

"No you don't understand!" Olivia's cries were in vain as the ninja opened the door. The throne room has no lights on, shrouding it in pitch black darkness, except for a suspicious spotlight shining down onto the Calamity Box, sitting upon its control pedestal. But Jay was nowhere to be seen, maybe he's in another room somewhere in the castle?

"I don't see Jay."

"Let's grab that box, then we can go look for him!" Kai dashed forward towards the music box, Cole and Nya following behind him. The amphibians stayed back at the door, though Olivia and Yunan stayed in the back, anguish in their eyes.

The three ninja stood in front of the Calamity Box, the thing that caused Cole, Kai and Jay to be stranded in this realm for half a year, the thing that gave the boys strange powers without their knowledge, the thing that could cause the destruction of Ninjago if Andiras ever launches that invasion. But now it is over, the war against Andiras is over, and when they find wherever Jay is, they can finally return home.

"Finally, it's over. We've won." Cole went to remove the box from its pedestal, but there was nothing to grab as his hands slipped through a hologram. The hologram of the box faded in an instant and the spotlight went out.

It was a trap!

Before Cole could warn the amphibians, the three ninja were ensnared by cold, metal tendrils, along with the amphibians standing by the door. Everyone struggled to break free of the restraints, but they held on with an iron grip, but not too tight that they couldn't breathe. Cole tried to use his lava arms and super strength, but the moment he activated it the power faded away. Kai and Nya tried using their elemental powers too, but not a single ember or droplet was formed. There was only one explanation, vengestone. But how could Andrias know of the stone?

The throne room began to light up, several eye-like lights opening up emitting an ominous orange glow. As the room became more visible, the ninja could see that the walls were covered in the same wiry metal tendrils immobilizing them, covering every inch of the throne room like a spider's web. At the very end of the throne room, where the thone once was, stood a humanoid figure. They were silhouetted by the enormous eyeball light, making it difficult to see what they looked like. The stand out feature of them was the giant horns protruding from their head and the nine eyes staring down at them.

And then they spoke.

"Hello, brothers."

And the horrific realization set in. The figure…was Jay. But his voice, it was cold, and distorted. As if multiple people were speaking at once. They could hear the squeaky voice that belonged to Jay, but also voices that belonged to others.

"Nice of you to fall for our trap."

"Jay? What are you wearing? What's going on?"

As their eyes adjusted to the lighting of the room, the ninja could spot more details on "Jay." He was no longer wearing his bright blue ninja gi and Newtopian armor, instead now wearing a set of dark armor with a cape flowing behind his back. The horns and eyes were in fact a part of a helmet that was on the boy's head, covering everything except for his mouth. He looked nothing like the boy they knew before.

"We aren't Jay, not anymore." "Jay" handed the Calamity Box, the real Calamity Box, to one of the metal tendrils, as he walked down the ruined steps towards the ensnared ninja. Cole could see that the helmet on Jay's head was connected to a wire, but where was the wire connected to? "We are Day. A collection of Amphibia's greatest minds, uploaded into a unified consciousness."

"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO JAY!!!?" Nya screamed at whatever was puppeteering her Yin's body. Cole and Kai were angry and disgusted too, seeing their brother's body be used like this. They only hope his consciousness is alright.

"He is up here, with us." Day pointed towards their temple. "It's how we recognised your little ruse. Starfarer? How adorably childish."

"Give us back our brother, or I'll destroy that dumb helmet and take him back!" If Kai's powers weren't cut off by the vengestone, his hands would be ablaze with flames, ready to incinerate the hivemind just like how he did with Boreal in the Never-Realm.

"Your brother?" Day simply chuckled ominously as they trailed around the steaming Kai. "You hardly even considered him a friend, what with you calling him expendable among other things. Not really how a supposed 'brother' should be treated."

The words hit Kai right in the heart. Sure he calls Jay expendable, but he's only joking. Surely Jay understood that, right? It's just what brothers do, right?

"Kai, don't listen to this…thing!" Kai was pulled out of the dark headspace by Cole, always ready and willing to keep his brother grounded. "They're just trying to get into your head!"

"Ah, the infamous Cole." Day approached the Earth Ninja, leaning in too close for his comfort, their horde of glowing orange eyes staring into Cole's brown and green. "Dumber than a bag of rocks, and yet somehow, you're this rebellion's last hope. Oh, which reminds me…"

Day walked away from the ensnared ninja towards the balcony, the tendrils dagging the immoble behind them as if they were additional limbs.

"FROGS! NEWTS! AND TOADS OF THE RESISTANCE!" Everyone down below the castle stopped fighting, looking up at what once was Jay. "YOUR LEADERS HAVE BEEN CAPTURED!" With a flick of the wrist, the ensnared ninja and amphibians were dangling in midair, for all to see. Andiras only smirked as the Resistance looked up at their captured leaders in fear, moral draining away in an instant. "YOUR LITTLE REBELLION IS OVER!" Having dealt with the Resistance in one fell swoop, Day retreated back into the dark of the castle, Andrias jumping up to join them, the prisoners still struggling to break free.

They refused to give up on stopping the invasion on Ninjago!

They refused to give up on putting an end to Andrias's rule!

They refused to give up on saving Jay from whatever is using his body like a puppet!

The Resistance never quits!

Ninjago Amphibia Swap AU: True Colours Ending

Content warning for blood

"That's the thing about friends isn't it, the more you love them the more it hurts when they go. Allow me to demonstrate."

And with those words, Andrias let go of Sprig, sending the frog child plummeting from the flying castle towards his demise. Hop Pop and Polly cried out in despair, another member of their fractured family gone in an instant. Everyone else in the room was too shell shocked to say a word, horrified at what the disgraced king just did.

The whole room fell silent around Cole, as memories of his own tragic fall back when the Oni invaded Ninjago came rushing back, but unlike back then they weren't in a city, they were in another realm filled with nature, and there weren't any buildings for Sprig to miraculously crash into. He was gone. The child who found him wandering in the wilds, gave him a home, quickly grew into his new little brother, was gone.

Sadness quickly morphed to rage towards the king. He had to pay for the blood that's been spilled, ninja honor be damned! From atop its pedestal, the blue gem in the Calamity Box flickered in reaction to Cole's emotions, the faint connection growing stronger as the stone's power flowed towards the Earth Ninja.

"No it can't be…" Andiras's satisfied expression quickly morphed to shock as the room began to fill with blue light being emitted from both the stone of Heart and Cole. The stones were supposed to be charged, the ninja's connections to the stones severed, how is this possible!?

While everyone was distracted by Cole, Jay leaped out of the window, narrowly avoiding the lasers being fired at him by the frobots. He whistled, calling his giant bluejay, Ozone, to his side, and leaped onto the steed's back, diving down to where Sprig fell.

As more of the stone's power flowed into Cole, his raven treads turned blue, the leaves and twigs tangled into it blossomed and grew. His lava arms had activated, also glowing with the same blue aura that surrounded him.

"What's going on!?"

"I don't know!? Maybe it's a human ninja thing or something!"

Kai watched in shock at what was happening to his friend. It wasn't at all like a True Potential or the Spinjitzu Burst or any other insane power the ninja often unlocked during crazy quests. "This is not a human or a ninja thing…"

"Give him back…" Cole's voice echoed around the room as the power finally settled into him. His teary, rage filled eyes locked onto Andrias, no longer the usual mismatched brown and green but the same glowing blue as his hair and aura. He had to pay.

"GIVE! HIM! BACK!!!!"

Power erupted from the Earth Ninja as he vanished, the blue flash destroying nearby frobots. Andrias frantically looked around the room for the boy, his guard down, not noticing a flash of blue dive towards him. The goliath newt was sent flying across the room with a single punch. Quickly recovering, Andiras balled his fists together and sent them crashing towards the ground where Cole stood, hoping to crush the ninja like a fly. The king lifted his fists to find nothing in the crater he created, the ninja slipped out of the way at just the last second. Noticing the blue glow from the corner of his eyes, Andrias looked up to find the pest on the ceiling, gritting his teeth as he stared down at the king with rage filled eyes. Getting desperate to take the ninja down, he ordered the remaining frobots to fire everything they had at Cole, but he dodged every lazer and missile as he dived down at the king, charging up an attack in his magma infused fists. The attack destroyed all the frobots and sent everyone in the room flying, but Andiras was still standing, having conjured up a magic shield to protect himself from the black ninja's onslaught. He tried to push back, letting out a roar, but the ninja was stronger, the stone's power shattering the shield, sending Andrias flying.

The newt looked up at the ninja, panting with exhaustion as the stone's power began to fade. The blind blue aura vanished, his hair and eyes returning to their regular colours, arms reverting back to flesh as the ninja collapsed from exhaustion, the power too much for him to handle. The Plantars immediately rushed to Cole, checking to see if their unofficial member was alright. Cole sat up, exhausted but alive. He was immediately caught off guard by a pink blur rushing to hug him, his confused expression morphing into shock as he saw it was Sprig.

"Sprig!? You're alive!? But how!?"

"Jay caught me just in time!"

Cole had little time to process his little brother's miraculous rescue when a shadow loomed over the family. They all looked up to see Andrias standing over them, beaten and rugged from Cole's onslaught, flaming sword drawn.

"I have to admit, even I'm surprised. Somehow you've still got the gift kid. Which means, I can't let you live."

Andiras raised his sword, prepared to strike the Earth Ninja down, but the castle began to rumble, the thrusters keeping it aloft began to power down. Andrias looked towards the power pedestal, and the Calamity Box was gone. The sounds of a portal being formed filled the room, as by the throne Jay crouched down, fiddling with the box in his hands.

"Please work, please work, please work…"

The portal flashed to life in front of Jay. Andrias immediately rushed towards the Lightning Ninja, his focus now on getting the box back before he loses it again. He is halted by Kai and Grime, the Fire Ninja calling out to Cole before fire engluths his dual katanas.

"Grime and I will hold him off! Get out of here quick!"

Sprig and Hop Pop helped Cole get up, Polly dragging Frobo's disembodied head behind her as the four made their way towards the portal. Who knew where it went, but one thing for sure, they had to get out of here.

"Hurry up guys!" Jay called out. The Plantars and Cole entered the portal. Looking back for a second, Cole saw as Andrias swatted Kai and Grime away as if they were moths and dash towards the group.

"Jay, hurry!"

"Hold on I just gotta-"

Jay's words were cut off. His eyes widened with shock. He looked down to see a flaming sword protruding from his chest, stained in blood. His blood. Blood began to drip down from the wound, staining the floor beneath Jay's feet crimson. Andrias stood behind Jay, bloodied sword in his hand, staring down at the blue ninja currently impaled on his sword.

"Now look what you've made me do."

Tears began to well up in Jay's eyes as he gazed upon Cole, whose eyes were filled with shock and fear as he simple stared at the sword in Jay's chest, the pool of blood beneath Jay's feet, Jay's pale fear filled freckled face as he realized this was his end.

"C-Cole… I'm…sorry…"

"JAY!!!!"

Jay collapsed as the sword withdrew itself from his body, the Calamity Box falling out of his hands, crashing into the floor emitting a flash of light. The last thing Cole saw before everything went white was Jay collapsed in a pool of his own blood, unsure if the Lightning Ninja was alive or not.

Nya was sweeping up the leaves that had blown over from the forests down below the mountain where the monastery stood. It's almost been six months since Kai, Jay and Cole disappeared. She knows they used that box from the Explorer's Club, thanks to surveillance footage, but who knows where the boys ended up. They've already checked all the realms they could travel to with traveler's tea, meaning all they could do was wait until they found their own way back, just like when they were sent to the First Realm and the Never-Realm. Nya hated being unable to do anything while her brother, yin and best friend were stuck in another realm. What if they couldn't find a way back, or something bad had happened to them there.

Nya's worrisome thoughts were interrupted by a blinding flash of white, the shockwave ruining her afternoon's work. When the light faded, what appeared before her was something out of fantasy. A trio of giant frogs, an elderly orange one, a youthful pink one, and a pink tadpole with a bow on its head. They sat up, looking around at their new surroundings in awe and confusion. The fourth figure then sat up, and upon seeing them Nya dropped the rake as she clasped her mouth in shock.

A human man with dark skin and messy raven dreadlocks with leaves and sticks tangled in. He wore a sleeveless black ninja gi underneath a golden chestplate with orange highlights, matching the orange belt tied around his waist. He looked up and his mismatched brown and green eyes locked with Nya's grey, the green scar on the left side of his forehead glowing.

"Cole….?"

All of my Ninjago AUs because I am insane & autistic + it's fun

(disclaimer, a vast majority of these focus on cole brookstone because favouritism bias)

My Nonexistant Friend - Ghost!Cole AU where Day of the Departed...did not end so well. He's trapped in the Airjitzu Temple and is effectivly erased from existance. He suffers in nonexistant puragtory for 300 years until Lloyd's future students move in and the Master of Earth of this new era befriends the ghost. Fluff, feels & the power of friendship ensue

Perma Ghost - Ninjago but Cole remains a ghost. To prevent him from fading he anchors himself to friendship bracelets all the ninja + Wu & Pixal wear. He can't stray to far from anyone wearing a friendship bracelet but he doesn't mind he's always with a friend.

Curseworlds - Possession bad end, heavily inspired by The Star from Fionna & Cake. The Preeminent has won and has cursed all the realms and ghosts torment the remaining living souls. A small faction of survivors is fighting to take out the Queen of the Cursed, but it's very difficult with her two princes causing havoc. Anyone order evil Sandstorm?

Reverse - An alt Ninjago where Wu was bit by the Great Devourer instead of Garmadon. Wu becomes an evil dictator, Ninjago is in a lawless era, the og ninja are all traumatised child soldiers made to do Wu's bidding, Garmadon and a few familiar faces are fighting back.

Genderswap - As it says, everyone is genderswapped. But it's like Fionna & Cake where some stuff is different because of the swapped genders.

Elemental Anacondrai - Chen decides to be extra twisted and mark all the loosers of the Tournament with the Anacondrai Mark as a sign of ownership. When the cult is transformed into Anacondrai, they too. So for the last two episodes of ToE, Skylor, Karlof, Gravis, Bolobo, Ash, Cole, Jacob, Chamile & Tox are turned into Anacondrai.

Constrictai!Cole - Cole isn't dehypnotised at the end of Home and is taken prisoner by the Hypnobrai. When the Fangpyre are free and team up with the Hypnobrai, Skales has them turn Cole into a Serpentine. He ends up a Constrictai. The ninja end up rescueing him durring Can of Worms, remove the hypnotism with some anti-venom tea, and now Cole must adjust to his new reptilian body. Lots of Glacier

Lost But Never Found - AU where Cole ends up in the Land of Lost things after running away from his school. He becomes a Finder and is living his best life with his new found family. Sora also ends up there after running away and Cole adopts her

Vampire!Cole - Cole ends up becoming a vampire after getting attacked by one. Lots of hyjinks & vampire hunting (hunting other vampires, not Cole)

Wu Adopts Cole - Wu finds Cole a lot earlier then canon, at 10 years old. He's an orphan, his mum passed from illness and his dad drank himself to death. Wu raises Cole, trains him in his Elemental Power, very wholesome Dad Wu stuff.

Amphibijago - Ninjago + Amphibia crossover. Cole, Kai and Jay take the places of the Calamity Girls and end up in Amphibia. Cole ends up with the frogs, Kai ends up with the toads, Jay ends up with the newts. What could go wrong

The Oni House - Ninjago + The Owl House, basically the Owl House but with Ninjago characters. Cole is a troubled teen about to be sent off to a performing arts boarding school when he ends up in a realm of witches, demons and magic after wandering through a portal. There he meets Lord Garmadon, the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles and his baby dragon demon Rocky. Lava time

Ninja in Eorzea - Ninjago + FFXIV. The ninja play the criticly acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV with an extended free trail with unlimited playtime that allows them to play the award winning expansions Heavensward and Stormblood, and they get suckef in...litterally like Prime Empire.

Miraculous: Tales of Firefly & Charcole Cat - Ninjago + Miraculous. Ninjago City is being ravaged by supervillains created by someone known as the Dark Lord. But new heros have arisen, known as Firefly & Charcole Cat, ready to protect the city from the Dark Lord while trying to balance school & dating. HONEYCOMB MY OTP

Age of Elements - My original Ninjago story set 300 years after canon. Lloyd is training 7 new ninja, the Elemental Masters of Fire, Earth, Wind, Nature, Water, Lightning and Ice to protect the world because a prophetic vision of the furure said so. He's trying his best to make sure they aren't super traumatised by having them keep their ninja identity a secret, not keeping secrets about the FSM family lore, having them go to school, but trauma as a Ninja is a canon event. Got 18 seasons planned and counting
