Mmmmmm thinking about Nine the fox walking around with his two bodyguards (Alpha Grim Sonic and Chaos Sonic) again

The fox and his most devoted halberds who are also possessive bitches

No but like but like I need you to understand

Chaos Sonic who was originally revived to take Sonic's place, to fill the hole in a frienship Nine came to believe as fake, and yet clearly held onto so dearly. Chaos Sonic, who was supposed to be the same as before, except made to be Nine's devoted best friend who would never betray him.

Alpha Grim Sonic who Nine reportedly modeled after the hedgehog he (foolishly) thought of as a friend. A robot copy of Sonic who would not talk back, who would not think, who was only made to serve and protect Nine.

Chaos Sonic, whose time spent with Nine turned programmed allegiance and care into some form of love (obsession and possessiveness)

Alpha Grim Sonic, who was not supposed to think and feel. And yet, with time spent serving Nine and opposing Shadow, he begins to feel and to think (a budding soul forming within his metal frame and existing beyond his programming). A robot created to protect and serve, whose feelings for his creator and master begin to grow over time.

When did his internal drive shift from playing the role of Nine's best friend? When did he begin to resent Sonic for what he did to Nine? When did he begin to want to see Nine happy and safe and accomplished (rather than just simply alive and able to complete his goals)? When did he begin to crave Nine's attention and to make him stop thinking about Sonic?

Wasn't he programmed to be no more than an unfeeling robot, a set of algorithms designed to allow him to fight, protect, serve, and strategize only as needed? Why does he want to hurt Shadow so much (is it really just out of the drive to protect Nine, or is it to make the hedgehog pay?)? He'd follow Nine's orders to the ends of the earth, but why does he worry about Nine when they’re separated? Why has he started to covet Nine's smiles and bouts of happiness? Why does he feel annoyance when Nine converses with Chaos Sonic like he's also not there? Why is he starting to understand why Chaos Sonic resents Sonic, beyond the fact that Chaos Sonic has always fancied replacing him? Alpha Grim Sonic has never wanted to replace the real thing, never understood why Chaos Sonic would, but he's starting to understand jealousy (in the way one begins to feel things they cannot put words to).

Chaos Sonic would tell you it's because he and Nine are best friends. Alpha Grim Sonic would tell you that it's because Nine is his master. Yet, deep down, the two have begun to want to be useful and important to Nine. They want to protect him and see his goals through past any loyalty programming. It does not matter whether such an outcome was inevitable or not (based upon their programming or the holes Nine made them fill in his life), only that they believe that they'd choose this even if Nine tried to let them go.

And Nine... Nine who creates distance between himself and the two robots almost instinctively, as if he's trying not to grow attached (ironic, given the roles he placed the two in, the holes in his life he made them fill after he believed that Sonic had backstabbed him). And yet, just as much as he insists that Alpha Grim Sonic is cold and unfeeling and programmed to serve or that Chaos Sonic is just like that (given the personality programmed into him and his similarities to Sonic) and was programmed to follow orders, he finds himself beginning to value the two as more. He should see them as tools, he tries to think of them as tools. And, yet, over time, the two become irreplaceable agents of his will. He can’t allow himself to believe they really care about them, but he wants them to know that he likes having them around, that no other robot can fill the roles he programmed them for, and no real mobian could be as effective as them (even if it's embarrassing to admit). They become...a comforting presence, especially when he's stuck in the Grim post canon, practically alone, closed off from being able to see Sonic again

That fact that we have never seen Nine fly with his tails before except when he was showing Sonic The Grim, sharing his dreams and hopes with someone.

Look at his expressions during that moment. He's so excited and happy.

The only time we've seen Nine fly and he was happy. Remember how Boom Tails and Tails from Sonic X would instinctively start flying when they are happy or excited? This is what happened with Nine.

Child is seen using his mechanical tails to move around and climb up instead of flying probably because he doesn't want to give anyone more reason to dub him unusual and talk bad about him and bully him. He knows how to fly but he never does, especially in front of anyone because he's so guarded about his two tails. The prospect of Nine using his tails to fly in front of someone indicates he trusts that person a great deal, especially for someone who's been so guarded and angry and hurt due to having two tails his whole life.

To genuinely see him happy and excited around Sonic alone with no fear or guarded walls and trusting Sonic... And after only a few meetings. Nine is a part of Tails! (Not to mention I cannot help but see Tails in that 4th screenshot) And with how much open he had become with Sonic after just a few interactions (but those interactions affected him deep) to still be this open after Sonic was gone for a couple of weeks... It serves to show that deep down on the inside, Nine was always a good caring person. It's the world around him that made him selfish. The tyrants were one thing, add a whole city of bullies and abusers on top of that. If there was even a single person who showed even the briefest kindness, he wouldn't act so rude and uncaring with the others. Also, he isn't even acting selfish, he's acting logical and fair (I have a long post in drafts that explores this fact but just thought I'd add this here).

He latched onto the first person who genuinely cares about him enough to show him the very things and abilities that he was bullied about, enough to show him his hopes and dreams and achievements. That's trust. That's the extent of this unbreakable bond. I doubt Nine would've flown in front of anybody else even if they showed him kindness. But he flew in front of Sonic. And even after he let Sonic go, probably feeling hurt, he still came back to help.

Sorry, just, their unbreakable bond no matter the world makes me so emotional. They are brothers your honor, no matter what.

Shadow the Hedgehog (Sonic Prime, Character Analysis - Part 7)

Welcome back to Part 7 of my Shadow, Sonic, and to an extent, Nine character analysis! This one will cover Episode 21: Home Sick Home and Episode 22: The Devil is in the Tails. In addition, this and the next post will also have a lot of gifs coz I'm hellbent to analyze every detail of this show.

So, let's dive in!

''Shadow, you're alive! Help a brother up?'' ''We are not related.''

After getting knocked into the abyss Nine made, Shadow makes an epic return by saving Sonic from the Grim Variant Trooper, with Sonic being happy to see that he's alive. Shadow... doesn't get the joke, but Sonic doesn't care. Also, Shadow does the pose from Sonic X. X3

*sighs* ''Nevermind. You okay?'' ''I survived. Nine's Alphas deployed a massive army to keep me down here.'' ''Alphas? You mean the ones that can duplicate themselves?''

''If I still had that Chaos Emerald, I could've teleported out of here. But, it's lost to the Void. And, smashing hordes of Sonics isn't the worst thing in the world.''

''Up for smashing a few more of mes?''

Okay, hol' up a second there buddy! ''Smashing Sonics?'' I hope the writers knew what they were doing, because the internet is going to take this conversation WAAAY out of context... and they already did.

In any case, we get an explanation to what Shadow was doing, and while yes, we see Shadow literally flying out of the abyss without the need for a Chaos Emerald, I assume that he meant that there was such a huge army of troopers that he needed the Chaos Emerald to get out. However, by the time Sonic arrived, the number lessened, so he could escape.

In any case, he's definitely up for smashing more Sonics.

They continue fighting the troopers, and what I really love about this fight is how they basically start playing tennis with the robot, throwing it from one to the other before Sonic slams it down.

''Hahaha! Helloooo, teamwork! Up top!'' ''These troopers are one thing, but the Alphas can generate an endless army. They are the real threat.'' *sighs* *high-fives himself*

Hey, Shadow, Shads, Shad, dude! Don't leave Sonic hanging like that. At least you could've taken the moment and high-five him since Sonic just wanted to celebrate your amazing teamwork. Admittedly, I can also understand Shadow here, as he is all business, quickly pointing out to Sonic how Nine's army works.

''Rebel's plan is working. The Scavengers are through to the citadel. They're gonna cut Nine off from the Prism.'' ''Which is in Nine's lab, guarded by the Alphas. They'll never reach it!'' ''So, how do we destroy them?''

Earlier, Sonic had managed to team up with all of the Shatterverse Variants, and instead of being reckless, he left it to Rebel to figure out a plan to get them through. However, Shadow doesn't have much faith as he understands just how much danger the Alphas pose, with Sonic recognizing that Shadow is right and asks for advice. After all, Shadow is usually the one who can see the flaws more easily.

''We don't. We're going after Nine!'' ''No, we're not!''

''We''? Did Shadow just say ''We''? He did! He shows absolutely zero hesitation wanting to work with Sonic in taking down Nine, and I have to say, I'm so proud of him managing to get to this point. However, as it was shown last time, Shadow needs to acknowledge that, while he did accept that he and Sonic need each other, they also need more help.

Also, remember how Shadow attempted to reach out for Sonic when the latter grieved his loss back at Ghost Hill, but backed away? Well, Sonic shows no hesitation here, quickly grabbing Shadow's arm to stop him. Shadow doesn't even push him away or anything, just glances back before yanking his arm out of Sonic's grip and remains on the spot, listening to what Sonic has to tell him. Their communication skills have definitely improved.

''You said it yourself. If we don't go after the Alphas, we're cooked. And the only way to win this thing is if we work together. We need the others.'' ''It is the end of the universe-''

As Sonic talks to Shadow, we can literally see Shadow go through several expressions and emotional states, and honestly, this scene was killing me when I first watched it! X3

Shadow goes from ''Not this again!'' *eye-roll* to ''Yeah, that makes sense'' to ''What the hell, Sonic!'' in a matter of seconds and I'm loving every bit of it. He is so expressive and this little moment shows that he there is more to him than it seems.

That, and he's dealing with Sonic, so obviously, he'd show more emotion than usual, since Sonic seems to be the only capable of triggering such emotional reactions from him. Not to mention, Shadow is certainly comfortable enough in Sonic's presence to show these kinds of reactions.

''-and you're still thinking about your friends!'' ''Of course I am! They're all here, fighting, sacrificing themselves, for me!''

Shadow berates Sonic for thinking about his friends when the fate of the world is at stake, with Sonic arguing how of course he'd do that. They are fighting and sacrificing themselves for him, and he isn't going to let them down. Sonic will always put his friends as his priority and he is not wrong for doing that.

''All the more reason to go after Nine while he's distracted!'' ''And let my friends get pummeled when Nine only wants me? *gasp* Nine only wants me... I have an idea!''

However, I cannot argue that Shadow is wrong either. He is right that they need to go after Nine before everything gets destroyed.

Honestly, this very argument showcases best how Sonic and Shadow's minds work. Shadow will focus on the end goal and how to achieve it, while Sonic looks at the bigger picture, at the people affected by their decisions. Both are right and wrong at the same time, and both want to take a different approach, but the only way to win this is to work together.

Especially with Sonic suddenly realizing that there is a way for them to win this war.

As Sonic and Shadow go join the rest of the group, we see all of them taking down Robot Big, with Shadow and Sonic exchanging looks after seeing this feat happen. Sonic grins, giving Shadow an ''I told you so!'' look, while Shadow is genuinely surprised that the group had managed to succeed in taking down such a formidable foe.

''Gang, this is Shadow! Shadow, meet, well... everyone, I guess.''

Rebel is glad to see Sonic, with Sonic quickly introducing Shadow to everyone else, which... awww, just look at them!

Sonic literally pulls Shadow into a side-hug, smushes his face against his cheek and rubs his shoulder, showing nothing but pure affection and being completely oblivious to everything else.

Shadow in turn, goes first into panic mode when Sonic pulls him closer, not sure what is happening, but unlike last time when he pushed Sonic away, he let's Sonic hug him. He certainly shows annoyance, but I think it is more out of embarrassment for being hugged like that in the public. He really doesn't mind being hugged by Sonic, and he even stays like this until Nine makes his move.

Also, where is Shadow's arm? It literally disappears when Sonic hugs him. Honestly, I choose to believe that he placed it on Sonic's back.

D'awww, they're so adorable!

I also love how literally everyone's reaction to this is just being unimpressed (with Renegade Knux being 🤨?).

Everyone's reaction just screams ''Sonic, did you really have to introduce your boyfriend when it's the end of the world?''

Well, of course he had to. He and Shadow are closer than ever now and it's the end of the world. One might as well do whatever they want.

SONADOW FOR THE WIN!

''Well, that's... terrifying.''

However, things quickly go south when Nine starts gathering more and more energy, making the The Grim decay even faster. This then leads up to the Chaos Council's mothership to be blown up.

''Mr. Dr., are you alive? Say something!''

Fortunately, Mr. Dr. Eggman manages to escape in his robot mech, wanting to melt Nine for what he had done. I just love how Shadow is also in the circle, wondering if Mr. Dr. Eggman survived or not. It's kinda hilarious.

With Prim's team defeated and the Shatterverse Variants being back to square one, Sonic quickly tells them their plan, and one notable thing in this shot is that, after they confront Nine, he looks to Rebel, then to Shadow, who nods in response. It is as if he's not only seeking for approval, but also making sure that they all have his back.

They're all in this together.

''Finally! Prove your worth machine!''

The battle begins anew, and I love how Shadow has beef with Grim Alpha Sonic, given how the latter had knocked him down into that abyss.

Seriously, I kept an eye on Shadow during this whole battle, and whenever he's shown, he mainly seeks out Grim Alpha Sonic, which made me think about something...

How cool would've it been if Nine had made Grim Alpha Shadow as a reference to the Shadow Androids from Sonic Heroes? I think people's minds would be blown.

However, as the battle goes on, we see Sonic's team losing, with Sonic confronting Nine. Gotta say, even if Shadow lost, look at how many troopers were sent to take him down. He would definitely be able to defeat all of them, though, if it weren't for one thing...

As we learn in Episode 22: The Devil is in the Tails, Sonic had managed to convince everyone to act as if they lost (yes, even Shadow followed that plan) and let Nine focus solely on draining the Prism energy while fighting Sonic, leaving the robots without power.

This leads to a victory for Sonic's team as they defeat the de-powered robots... at least until Nine powers them up again. Nevertheless, while Sonic (and later on, Renegade Knux) is focused on getting through/defeating Nine, everyone else focuses on the Alphas.

''You aren't going anywhere.''

When Nine orders the Alphas to target Sonic, most of them get knocked back by the Shatterverse Variants, with Shadow once again facing Grim Alpha Sonic.

We can see a parallel to Sonic and Shadow's fight from Episode 02: The Yoke's On You, but unlike last time, with Shadow fighting against Sonic, Shadow is now fighting for Sonic. He does get knocked down, leaving Grim Alpha Sonic to join Nine. I also checked that episode, and both Shadow and Sonic got knocked out after colliding. I suppose the Grim Alpha survived due to being a robot.

''We're not finished!''

However, Shadow makes a comeback, destroying the robot, much to Nine's shock.

''No! HOW?!'' ''I am... the Ultimate... Lifeform'' ''Modest too!''

Shadow's statement is once again very simplistic and factual. He is the Ultimate Lifeform, of course he'd beat a robot duplicate of his rival. I also love how Sonic jumps in with a comment, mainly because I have no idea if he was just messing with Shadow and Nine, or if he was genuinely honest about Shadow being modest. It's hilarious nonetheless. X3

Nine refuses to give up, using the Prism energy to paralyze both Shadow and Renegade Knux, while Sonic uses his own ability to create a barrier as The Grim decays faster and faster.

''He's not gonna stop.''

Sonic knows that he has no choice. Nine won't stop unless Sonic stops him. So he spin-dashes into Nine, knocking him down into the light of the Paradox Prism.

I absolutely loved how we could see here both Sonic and Shadow's growth, as well as how their ideals both clash and work together, leading up to the final confrontation (and also getting more Sonadow content because, hey, why not? XP).

Considering how Ian Flynn was a consultant for Sonic Prime, this episode really gave me the impression that this was the House of Cards arc from Archie!Sonic, as in the issues where Sonic and Tails have their big fight, but was written way better, acting like a redemption for that rushed mess.

Rest assured, the next (and last Part) will show us he big finale of this show!

Sonic and shadow dynamic in sonic prime

Yes, i am doing this rant now because it's been on my mind too much and i need to talk about it.

Look at them, silly guys ⬇

So we all know that Sonic and Shadow are always seen as rivals right? Off topic, but personally i hope in Sonic x Shadow Generations Sega changes that but we'll just have to wait and see. In Sonic prime, they are obviously shown off as rivals, starting off having a fight and Shadow being pissed of with Sonic through out pretty much all of the second season because he shattered the prism and broke reality but we also see that they do have to team up because of that. We get to the last episode of season 2 and the whole 'Nines betrayal' takes place. Shadow did have every right to be annoyed at Sonic and he does say ''Sonic, i told you Nine couldn't be trusted.'' Of course pulling the 'i told you so' line shows he's very much bothered about the situation they're in, but then he goes on to say ''Whatever he's up to, it's causing this world to fracture.'' in saying that, trying to make Sonic come to his senses of what's around him and to stop focusing on the situation he's put himself and Shadow in. He wants Sonic to stop his classic way of thinking about the present situation he's in and to start thinking about the reality around them. Shadow also knew his and Sonics lives were more important in that moment than the shards and he wanted Sonic to see that to. Then of course Sonic goes on to say ''I don't understand, why would he-'' but getting cut off by Shadow ''Pull yourself together! This mountain is decaying, and it's going to take us with it. We have to run.'' Then proceeding to take Sonic by the hand and dragging him out the mountain, unwillingly. Shadow doesn't care about the fact Sonic is upset that Nine took the shard, he cares about the fact his and Sonics lives are at higher risk.

Through out all of that part, it's shown that Shadow wants Sonic to be like him. To have a straight forward tactic, to think before he acts. This is clearly shown when they're escaping Ghost Hill. Shadow is saying out the plan he has in mind to Sonic to make sure that they BOTH make it out alive. Ahh teamwork...

He then again, has to pull Sonic out of spiralling down a 'my friends are gone and it's all my fault moment.' when Sonic sees his ghost friends. This time Shadows face is completely unamused. He see his tactic of trying to get Sonic to focus on safety didn't work. ''I thought we went over this.'' blatantly shows that. He tries stop Sonic getting any closer but Sonic just pushes him out the way. Then, when Sonics ghost friends start decaying, it's shown then that Sonic has FINALLY come to his senses and knows they need to get out and get safe.

Just in this episode it's shown that Sonic thinks on his feet, plans are a big no no for him and that's exactly what Shadow is the opposite of. Shadow is the guy who makes sure they're safe and are able to stay alive, yes he still thinks on his feet but not the way Sonic does. Shadow takes the lead in a lot of season 3 because of that.

I would go on and on for the whole entire season about this but i'm not, because i want to talk about the ending.

Ahh yes, the ending we all know and love. Sonic sacrifices himself and nearly dies in Shadows arms on the way back to Green Hill.

WE LITERALLY SEE SHADOWS EARS LOWER AND HIS FACE DROP. HE CARES ABOUT SONIC!!! That care is shown in tiny parts through the whole season, Shadow getting Sonic out of the Grim so Nine doesn't use sonic energy, helping in the battle blah blah blah. But this is hits the nail on the head. All the small build up of 'Oh Shadow's helping Sonic, that wasn't very expected' is finally used.

Shadow taking the lead in situations where Sonic could and probably would get himself killed is Shadow caring about Sonic... and himself. Yes of course Shadow cares about his own life and getting Green Hill back and is probably still pissed off at sonic through out all of this still but it's shown way less.

In a way, they're shown as team mates, the beginning of friends... who are mean to each other BUT WE MOVE PAST THAT.

I know their whole shmuck is that they're rivals and they hate each other but it's finally nice to see that they can work together like in the ending of SA2. I hope to see that again in Sonic x Shadow Generations and not just them fighting constantly because it gets boring. Also not to mention, Rouge is SEEN helping Team Sonic fight Eggman in Sonic Prime so, may i say Shadow is a bit left out there he should join in the fighting instead of brooding the little grump.

Anyways i think that's all i have to say, if i repeated myself my bad but i'm very good at that.

This is also not me shipping Sonic and Shadow. I don't mind people shipping them, i get why but i hate the people who are rlly weird about it...

Sonic and Nine. Is not betrayal. Is a cultural shock

Nine doesn't consider Pyongyang New Yolk his home. So he doesn't miss it if he goes somewhere else.

It happened that when he meet Sonic, he discovered the existence of the prisms and the shatterspace, though he discovered the empty Grim first.

The Grim is a Mars-like world, (without the umpleasant effect such as freezing or disappearing of the magnetic field etc...). On the contrary it can be considered a primordial world. There was a time where auroras were visible on the whole Earth when the magnetic field was forming. That glowing red in the Grim is an aurora, it really gives an image on Nine's world: 'Is empty, pretty grim. Is perfect!'

Sonic understood Nine doesn't consider New Yolk world his home. But he has another idea: "Well, you can come to my home!". Sonic's idea is a world where you are completely free. You can do whatever you want, move where you want, eat what you want, live some adventure and also stop Dr.Eggman from taking over, the latter is the only responsibility you truly have. A perfect place for Nine in Sonic's mind. There is also Tails, they can excange some tips since they're both scientists.

The Dr. Kim Jong-un, or, as I call him, Dr. "Cicciobello".

Sonic and Nine did one mistake (a normal mistake especially by so young characters like them, 15 and 8 years old, thinking their ideal world is best). Nine grew up in a North Korea-like tiranny, where even being friends is forbidden. The chaos council robots tried to kill a kitten and a puppy just because they were showing friendly behaviour. So for him a better world is one where he can live in peace, but still similar to the tiranny where he grew up (only things workd the way Nine wants). He wants keep Sonic for himself, trapped like a pet. In this aspect Nine is just like Chris Thorndyke From Sonic-X. The difference is that Chris is a spoiled brat nobody cares about (not even Sonic Fans), Nine is more capable, more loved by fans. He is a villain, the main antagonist, but we all would love to see what he is going to do, and hoping for the best outcome.

Sonic on the other hand grew in total freedom. But I already describled what his world is like.

Is their so different culture, their totally different point of view (They can't undersand the point of view of the other) that made them feel betrayed. I think in the end pieces will come togheter.

AHHHH THEY HELD HANDS (for half a second to propel forward) BUT STILL

Anyway, all greiving aside, I miss her.

I joined the Sonic fandom in a kinda odd way ngl. At the time, I was stupid and a fresh middle schooler and it was extremely popular to make fun of the sonic franchise cuz it was a whole meme and stuff. I also made fun of it cuz I thought I was supposed to. But I realized it was stupid to make fun of something I haven't even seen before. So I wanted to educate myself on it. Coincidently, I saw a video. It was by CourtneySNT about her first ever sonic fancomic around that time. I really enjoyed it actually. Sometimes I go back and rewatch it. Anyway, in her comic, she had introduced Tails to the screen and I fell in love with the fandom. Grant it, her depiction of tails at that moment was the polar opposite of what he's actually like, but still. It compelled me to watch Sonic X, The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Boom, Sonic Prime, A bit of Sonic Underground, and just...Sonic the Hedgehog. I also watched a few gameplays and a lot of cutscene movies of the videogames as well as parodies and fan content. So...yeah.

Now it's just a Sonic Prime Nine analysis/rant below lol

Also, since I mentioned SONIC PRIME, I might as well rant about it. NINE. WAS. SO. PERFECT. He was well written, well scripted, and well developed. Everything about nim was chef's kiss. His story was literally just a what if. What if Sonic never met Tails? Well, number one, he wouldn't be named Tails. He'd make his own name. Nine. Also, he became cold and distant because he expected others to treat him the same due to his two tails. Perfect character already but then they fleshed him out some more and introduced this...guy named Sonic.

He didn't know Sonic at the time nor did he really know...anybody. So when this blue loser comes waltzing into his house unannounced, he obviously gets hostile. Why? Well, one, because a rando broke into his casa. But also because everyone he met was hostile to him first. Crazy. Then this guy seems to be friendly. A first. So, Nine lets down his ice cold walls and trusts him. Let me emphasize that. NINE TRUSTED SONIC. Remember that. It is SO important.

So, Nine goes along and helps this guy for no real reason other than the fact that he considers him a friend. Now, you'd think he also helped to stop the egg council, but he really never had bad blood with them in the first place. He isn't in the resistance nor shows any resentment. He's Nine all on his own, with or without the council. In fact, he probably doesn't care if they rule because he wanted to be alone anyway. But he helped. Why? Because he wanted to help his FRIEND.

This goal warps when Nine discovers an empty realm called the grim. He can have a fresh start there with him and sonic. Just the people he cared about. He asked Sonic to go with him because he wanted to share his dream with him. He wanted Sonic to be a part of it with him. But Sonic undermined his dreams. It'd be one thing if he simply disagreed with it or gave a good, justifying, and well explained reason for refusing, but instead he didn't explain himself well. Sonic entitled himself to the prisms, assuming him getting home was everyone's priority. I don't mean to villainize him because this was simply reckless and unknowing behaviour, but still. Nine got upset that his FRIEND was trampling on his dreams as if they didn't matter nearly as much as Sonic's.

So, he "betrayed" Sonic. I want to bring this to everyone's attention. Nine had critisized Sonic because he recklessly didn't think about what woukd happen to everyone else if he DID bring back his home. Like, nobody knows jack squat about the prisms. Sonic, Nine, Shadow, even the egg council was lost when it came to those big shiny rock things. It shines and made our universes. That's all they knew. So, with that in mind, it makes sense to be concerned. Like what if it kills us? What if it destroys our world in order to bring back yours? They only exist because of the prism being destroyed, so if you fix it, would that kill them? Idk, I feel like this was mentioned once and never brought up again and it makes me mad. Such potential.

Anyway, after the situation, Nine goes back to the grim to make his dreams come true by himself. Because the one person he TRUSTED broke his trust. So, after a bunch of irrelavent stuff happens, Sonic goes to the grim after making a deal to Nine. Nine lets him into the grim and Sonic starts to preach to Nine about their friendship. Nine listens and almost starts to trust him again, maybe thinking about his actions and how they might not have been the best. How their friendship could maybe be salvaged. Why? Because Sonic said he woukd sacrifice himself to save Nine too. But then an entire army shows up to beat Nine into a teeny tiny pulp. Grant it, Sonic did not call them to the grim. But then he imediently sides with them in taking Nine down in an all out war. After saying he'd sacrifice for Nine too, he pulls an uno reverse on him. Trust broken. Again.

So now, he wants to trust nobody. Why? Because Sonic broke once too many. So he starts fighting. And fighting. And fighting. Like he's been doing his entire life. Who is he fighting? Someone who he thought was his friend. Someone who claims to be his friend. Someone who he thought he wouldn't need to fight. And he's clearly breaking his own body in desperation while doing so. Nobody really said anything about it either btw. Like, he's literally hurting himself and Sonic, his "friend" didn't even try to stop him because he was hurting himself, but because he was huring others and taking the prisms. I understand of course because he's hurting your friends, but his own pain wasn't even a slither of his drive.

Anyway, the ending sucked personally. It was anticlimactic. Nine gives in just because and then Sonci goes home, mystery never discovered, and yay we're done.

i feel like people are being really mean to sonic prime. like it's not perfect but if you put this below sonic x, underground, or boom (yes it's better then boom, it gives better shadow and 3 better knuckles without a using self deprecating crutch.)

like shadow has a grate arc with a better, rusty rose's arc and speech before her fight with the grim amy, nine's villain turn and sonic's dynamic with him, the great dynamic fights, chaos sonic.

the ending might have been abrupt and i can guarantee it was because the show had a low budget and pulse it leaves it open for more in the future.

to sonic prime felt like a really good saturday morning cartoon, not perfect, the chaos counsel was kinda flat, not all the sonic characters they could use could in this could be used but that can't be helped.

I’m back.

My discombobulated thoughts now that I have finished Sonic Prime SPOLIERS!!!!!!!

Okay so I watched season 1 in parts and season 2 when it came out and just watched season 3 today. I binged everything, so if I don’t remember something 100% correctly, that’s why.

Sonic prime is good.

I know, shocker.

Okay, I haven’t watched any of the other shows so I can’t compare it to X or Boom or whatever. But this seemed to have a darker tone than most other sonic media and I enjoyed that a lot. (I know I need to watch SATAM, don’t yell at me.)I’ve dipped in and out of this fandom a lot. And my participation is all over the place (I won’t be posting about Ken spenders anymore, I took my Kenspiracies too far when I had that stupid twitter account yeah, that was me) but ANYWAY

This show was great. Not perfect, the main flaw I found was the pacing is very fact paced and action heavy which is good for a Sonic show and good for a person with ADHD like me. However I found the first season took awhile to get going and was more episodic. I know it was to introduce the characters but I got bored a bit. I’ll say again I liked the episode in Season 1 with Thorn Rose but the Boscage Maze and especially No Place never felt that fleshed out to me. I still wanted them to be saved because I cared about Sonic and his friends, but the worlds weren’t very interesting.

I. Love. New. Yoke. The aesthetic of this place is perfect and VERY Sonic CD bad future-seque which is PERFECT. I only wish we spent more time there. Especially in season 3 which takes place entirely in the Grim after the first two episodes, which I get, I do, but the pacing again, I felt was too fast and too much action and not enough character moments. The he ending felt rushed, because I really wanted to see the rebels rebuild New Yoke after the Egg Council was gone (assuming the other shatterspaces didn’t freeze in time like Green Hill did, but I got the implication that was a unique case.) and I wanted to see the others return home as well. I guess this leaves it open to a sequel or expansion of some kind, comics, some kind of spin off media, I’d even love an animated movie if they fixed the pacing issues, but yeah, that was my only gripe. I guess I wanted more time with Sonic and Nine reconciled too before everything happened but that’s the painful thing in life, sometimes you don’t get that. We know the prism still exists so then interacting again some way in the future might be possible, if they know how to control portals and such, hell with the chaos emerald they might be able to go to other worlds anyway. I wonder where Shadow is keeping the prism. I wonder if Nine stays on the Grim by himself or if he goes back to New Yoke. He deserves friends, and I’m sure some of the others would come around to him given time. renegade Knucks was up there fighting with Sonic after all. It could work. I just want him to be happy :((

I guess those are small nitpicks in the grand scheme of things because I want to say that the tone and storytelling was GREAT, the music was epic and cinematic and fit the tone of the show very well, the contrasting color palettes of different worlds really helped make it pop. The 3D animation was fantastic and felt perfect for a show like this. Characters were VERY expressive. (Hey Sega, can you update your in game models please thanks, you know it’s bad when the SA2 models have more dynamic facial expressions). Anyway, I thought the voice acting was great. Shadow’s voice felt a little wrong but I’m probably just used to Humphrey and Griffith, I don’t like his voice in forces either but I digress. It worked for this. Sonic’s VA was amazing and really able to convey a wide range of emotions and I thought the other characters had good VAs. Nine was great. I do wish maybe he’d had a redemption earlier against a greater threat a la Zuko style but one can dream. Nine is still easily the best version of Tails, ever. I was lukewarm on Tails as a character before and Nine made me appreciate everything about all versions of Tails. Incredible. What I love about Nine is he takes things too far because he has serious trust issues and him and Sonic fail to communicate which as a neurodivergent person is very relatable. I think Tails in general and especially Nine, is very autistic coded, and I love that. I just wish season 3 Nine had more development before the end because his arc was perfect until the end of season 2 but I’m at least glad he did realize and did the right thing. He’s really just a scared kid who wants a safe place, don’t we all? Again I REALLY want to see more material with him in the future and what becomes of him with Sonic gone.

My other favorite side characters were Thorn Rose, Rusty Rose, and Dread, but I thought they were all great. I loved that the roses had a great character moment, as did Dread when he finally realized that saving his friends was more important than treasure. The Egg council was awesome, taking different traits of Eggman and turning them into a squabbling family was PERFECT. The fact that they met their demise because they were arguing over the prism was so real. Great stuff.

I want to talk about Sonic himself because this is one of the best Sonics I’ve seen. I haven’t decided if this is better than Movie Sonic, but I love both a ton along with Adventure. This Sonic is one of the most expressive Sonics with the most emotional range. Yeah, he’s still overly cocky and hilarious, and mostly always optimistic, but I love that he actually learns from his mistakes and comes up with new ideas. The fact he even took inspiration from the Egg Council to never give up was great. I loved the robots of all the main characters as well. Sonic was well written, VERY in character but still serious when he needs to be (unlike Archie Sonic (sometimes) and 06, which is bad).

Speaking of 06, this is the best written Shadow we have gotten since 06. I mentioned very early on in this blog how I love his arc through Shadow 05 and Sonic 06. Sonic is way out of character and the Elise thing is stupid, BUT, Team Dark was perfect in 06. It’s sad we don’t have Team Dark anymore, but Rouge on team sonic was cool, I just like Rouge in general and if they’re gonna make her part of the main cast, good. Okay, back to Shadow. His development in game is that he goes from being angry at the world and wanting revenge, to being emotionally numb and trying to figure out the truth, to finally realizing his purpose and knowing not to give up and kicking the bad guys when it hurts. He’s hard to crack, but he DOES care about his friends, as you can see through subtle actions, rather it be Team Dark, Sonic, whatever. He’d never ADMIT to Sonic that they’re friends, but I do genuinely think he cares for Sonic.

Anyway, Shadow has been stagnant as a character since then, the best writing was in Forces with him vs. Infinite but it didn’t do much to further his character. He hasn’t been in a lot of media lately like Frontiers (although maybe they knew they couldn’t write him well for games and wanted to see how he went over in prime and the upcoming movie). Prime Shadow made me more excited for Movie Shadow, because if we got one of, if not THE best Sonics ever in Prime as well as the movie, I’m expecting good things from Shadow in the movie, considering they really nailed Tails and Knuckles in Sonic 2, imo, and now knowing that Shadow is allowed to have feelings again is so good. He’s very in character, overly serious, and cold, but he is incredibly dedicated to the cause and unquestionably a hero, like 06 Shadow. Prime Shadow reminds me a LOT of 06 Shadow and that’s GOOD. He’s also just great with his subtle nod to Sonic when Sonic talks about his friends, their excellent back and forthing with Sonic cracking jokes “I didn’t know you were a hugger” and Shadow responding with his straight man persona “do you want me to save you or not?” It was great stuff all the way through. I thought he was decent in Season 2, but Season 3 was AWESOME. I guess I had to trade Nine for Shadow, sigh. Nine did come back around in the end which GOOD, if they kept him as a villain the whole time I would’ve been pissed, but I digress. This might be the best Shadow since SA2, he’s SO GOOD YALL and I could keep raving about Prime Shadow all day. I loved when Dr. Deep called him an edge lord, it’s great meta humor, and in character for Deep who actually is an edge lord. Really hope SEGA takes the positive feedback from this and makes Shadow better in upcoming games/comics. LET FLYNN WRITE A GOOD SHADOW FOR GOD’S SAKE!

Anyway, I’m glad I watched Prime, it gave us the best Sonic Shadow and Tails maybe ever and it took the darker tone that Forces tried and really fleshed it out. Good job guys.

I certainly wouldn't be shocked if the VS. Nine episode happens earlier than expected in the last batch. (But if so, that will almost 100% guarantee what ending they go with; despite leaning on one outcome more than other. The fact that the Council attack the other verses practically right away, I knew Nine was likely taking over as main antagonist. The seeds were planted already, but it honestly could have happened the next batch or halfway in THIS one.) I just hope everything lands well enough.

Yeah, there were a few moments; despite the projecting, Sonic teased the idea of Nine meeting Tails. Too bad it wasn't done very formally nor in the best light. But I can believe he still might be somewhat curious. (I have been thinking; should the shatterverses survive, would they actually try to merge them into one world that's separated from Green Hill? {Or they just move to fill up the Grim; if it's still going to be called that by the end} Like a loophole that allows both to coexist akin to two planets.)

True, though he did seem to be warming up the affection by the halfway point even despite that: Still doesn't like being hugged but didn't push Sonic away this time, willingly gave a high-five after discovering he kinda liked it, sticking up for Sonic and more outwardly concern for his wellbeing. (Yeah, though it's completely possible they could have met under different circumstances. A two-tailed fox might not be normal, but a fox with multi mechanical tails isn't normal either and probably would have caught Sonic attention regardless. Maybe not to stop and chat, but definitely to observe. Who knows.)

Hmm, now that he does have the shards, I wonder if they'll have Nine be curious enough to give his counterparts another look. (Specifically, their friendships with their groups. Now that he's fully aware, should the thought of having a similar past go through his head. Should he have second thoughts about having companions, or would it double down on his heartbreak? 8 episodes left and I'm more confident in a Tails x 3 episode than one where Nine gives friendship a second chance under different people. Heck, he might build his own friend instead, but I digress.)

Nine as an antagonist would be interesting to see, though I'm expecting halfway through the next third of the season the real "Big Bad" would be tge bottomless pit, so we'll probably get the real Nine confrontation in ep4-5.

Yeah, I do wonder. I'm still thinking of the Shatterverse counterparts as the "shards" of the original characters, and think they would all need to be combined to restore everything, so it's a bit confusing for me how they could exist with the ogs also coming back. Though maybe they'll work something out or I'm just misunderstanding the situation.

Oh, I don't doubt he liked the affection. It's just there was so much and so suddenly, it was overwhelming and stopped him from actually thinking and realizing what's going on.

This is the face Nine makes when Sonic talks about him meeting Tails. His ass is not processing. He kept being in denial until he straight up heard from Sonic that their plans were different, even though he already started to pick up on the signs.

(Well, Nine was trying to be stealthy and Sonic only saw him because he was deliberately looking, and then they were only able to talk because Sonic was able to break in into his lab (because he had the same password as Tails). Well, who knows how that would have gone. Prime Sonic isn't the most observant)

Hey, you know, Nine did say that "the only person he could trust is himself", and he already realized that Sails and Mangey are different versions of him (since he was also able to realize that Shadow is not a different version of Sonic), so maybe he would trust them? Mangey already learned a lesson about how you need to communicate and talk about your feelings, maybe he'll be able to explain it to Nine (I don't think Sails had learned any kind of lesson, the pirates keep being manipulated by Dread with no consequences. I don't know how to connect it to Sonic & Nine's conflict without making it seem like he's obligated to forgive Sonic, which he isn't)

It's Sonic Prime's best couple! 🧡🧡 Sonic/Nine 🧡🧡 is my favorite pairing when it comes to Sonic Prime.

As for Chaos Sonic, I think Nine joined him as Sonic's replacement, somewhat ironic considering he accuses Sonic of seeing him as a replacement for Tails (although Nine wants Sonic to be "more" than just a best friend or brother) .

Nine has all the shards but realized he needs more energy. He's now after Sonic!!!

Sonic is devastated, his friend betrayed him. He wants to talk to Nine and fix things up but if it doesn't work he is willing to battle him with Shadow.

AND SHADOW ASDFKLJFD he's so protective of Sonic?!?!?!?!? like yeah he's angry at him for trusting Nine but he's still looking after him. He fought Nine's robots with Sonic and they did great but got outnumbered very quickly. AND OH BOY when he realized Nine wanted Sonic's prismatic energy?????? he was so mad he will not let that happen!!!! He took Sonic and shoot him out of the Grim even if that meant he's now trapped there alone.

AND THAT'S HOW THE EPISODE ENDED LIKE ADDFJKSHSGSJSJS WHYYYYYYY

Sonic, Nine and Protagonist Centered Morality.

Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t make this post to say people should be calling Sonic [Insert Insult Here], just that a lot of the things people, (specifically Nine’s detractors) complain about Nine doing also applies to Sonic.

1. Being a “Traitor.”

To make sure there aren’t any misunderstandings on what makes a Person a Traitor, let’s look at the definition.

Sonic Told Nine that 1. The Surprise in The Grim is probably cool and 2. he couldn’t wait to hear more. 3. They will go after visiting Ghost Hill.

Sonic technically didn’t say the words that he will go but He said the lines directly after Nine made it clear that He wants Sonic to SEE what’s in The Grim. Plus as we all saw and Heard, Sonic not only refused to go, He dismissed Nine’s feelings about The Grim. So Sonic can’t use the classic “Technically I never said I would X” excuse.

Plus when using exact words, From Sonic’s own mouth, their plan was to 1. Visit Ghost Hill. 2. Look at Ghost Hill’s Shard. 3. Look at The Blueprint and finally 4. They will go to The Grim. (No mentions of Fixing Green Hill or specifying that he wants the prism fixed in Ghost Hill)

While it can be argued that Sonic meant he will focus on The Grim after The Original Green Hill is restored, with the possibility that The Shatterverse will vanish, Sonic might not be able to keep the Promise. So even when using Sonic’s meaning, he’s still guilty.

Yet with exceptions, most fans only hold Nine accountable for being a “Traitor,” and say “Nine betrayed Sonic”. In fact, more than one person actually forgot the deal/plan that SONIC proposed and went back on.

2. Wanting X to live in an environment that isn’t X’s preferred one.

Both Nine and Sonic wanted the other to live in their preferred place.

Nine directly stated that he wants to live in the Grim on multiple occasions and he wanted Sonic to stay with him.

Nine can’t travel between the worlds on his own. Making him stuck wherever Sonic leaves him. Even if Sonic takes Nine back to The Grim, Nine will no longer be able to survive there as there’s no food or water.

Plus unlike when Sonic asked Thorn to give up The Green Shard, Sonic doesn’t try promising to come back to The Grim and help Nine live there. (While it can be argued that it might not have worked, at the time Sonic threatened to take The Purple Shard, Sonic hadn’t yet broken his promise to go to The Grim.)

Also Quite a few of Sonic’s lines can give off the impression that Sonic was hoping for Nine to live in Green Hill or Ghost Hill.

When defending Nine to Shadow, Sonic described Ghost Hill as Nine’s Reality. (Though it can be argued that Sonic meant the Shatterverse in general.)

Sonic talked about how He wanted Nine to see Green Hill.

Sonic described Green Hill as “Our Home”, albeit this was likely intended to be a sign of Sonic projecting Tails onto Nine.

Sonic discussed how he was hoping Nine would befriend the prime characters.

Several fans stated that Nine was foolish to believe that Sonic would accept The Grim and claimed that he forgot what Sonic said about The Grim.

However not as many called Sonic a fool for forgetting that The Grim is the only place That Nine feels safe and happy in and as I showed above, Nine did remember, it’s actually SONIC that forgot his words about The Grim.

3. Being “Selfish” and/or “a Hypocrite”

While in The Grim, Nine made Palm Trees because he remembered how Sonic mentioned them previously. Nine specifically said “SONIC’S gonna love this”. Nine wants to make the perfect world in The Grim.

Things Sonic sacrificed for Nine and/or Nine wanted Sonic to sacrifice.

The Original Green Hill, which is already gone and the entire shatterverse might die if it comes back.

Sonic’s comfort zone, which doesnt really count much because Sonic can use his powers to leave any time he wants and because of the different time zones, He can be gone for hours without Nine noticing.

Let’s recap everything Nine sacrificed and/or Sonic unintentionally asked Nine to sacrifice due to not thinking things through.

Nine’s safety and well-being.

Nine’s happiness.

Nine’s Shard, AKA Nine’s only way to survive in The Grim.

Nine’s life.

Nine’s comfort zone.

Sonic also rarely considered what Nine might want and only hoped Nine would change his mind. Yet for the most part, only Nine got deemed “Selfish and/or Hypocritical”.

4. Risking Others Lives.

Nine refused to save The Original Green Hill, which means That The Prime Characters will stay in whatever state they are in for who knows how long. Sonic refused to leave The Original Green Hill be, which puts the Shatterverse at risk because Ghost Hill, New Yoke, Boscage Maze, No Place and The Grim all are a piece of the original.

Originally it appeared that Nine was just sad after screaming that he is real. Nine didn’t completely snap until AFTER Sonic unintentionally revealed that he didn’t consider that Nine might vanish if the prism is fixed nor did he make any precautions to prevent it from happening.

Sonic doesn’t think things through much so he doesn’t realize what he’s doing. But his dialogue when Dread and His crew were chasing him had caused suspicions that the idea that everyone and everything will vanish to be part of the originals had crossed his mind, at least briefly.

Sonic’s line was “ You guys are gonna feel really bad about this when you think back and remember how awful you guys were treating me when I’m only trying to help”. While it’s possible that he meant “You guys will regret it eventually when you hear/learn my side of the story”, it can be argued “Why mention “Help” if He’s not helping them? and/or why not specify who he’s helping?”

Especially back when Ghost of a Chance first aired, most only acknowledged how Nine stopped Sonic from saving His Prime Friends, while not as many mentioned Sonic’s potential mass Genocide.

5. Why they did what they did.

Nine has been traumatized, bullied, ignored and he grew up under a dictatorship. So it makes sense why he hates New Yoke and He wants to live in The Grim because it’s the least likely to remind him of his trauma. Nine wants to save The Grim from Sonic.

(New Yoke was identical to Green Hill until The Takeover. No Place has Pirates, who often commit Piracy and Dread’s crew was considering Committing Murder on more than one occasion. Boscage Maze and everyone there is really wild.)

Sonic has shown signs of having PTSD from when the Prism broke and he also appears to be going through the 5 stages of Grief. Sonic wants to save the Prime Characters from Himself.

They both had difficulty understanding each other and in communication.

Yet, only Sonic’s issues are acknowledged by everyone while Nine’s issues weren’t. Instead, plenty even developed a case of “Self Serving Memory”.
