Once the initial shock of being knocked on her ass by her Nidoking had worn off, pain radiated from her left knee. Walker reached down to touch her limb, for whatever reason, and recoiled instantly, seeing stars.

Shit. Shit shit shit.

To her horror, the knee was completely fucked. Misshapen and swollen, the fabric of her jeans pulled taut across the injured and disfigured joint. She reached in her coat pocket and dialed emergency services, hoping someone would be here to help soon enough.

She lost track of time waiting on the ground. Nidoking circled her like a spiky, venomous guard dog, ever vigilant in case the bastard who did it came back. The irony was, in fact, lost on him. Nidoking bristled and grunted as the man approached, but Walker paid the stranger no mind, laying on her back with her face buried in her elbow. It could've been someone who was gonna kill her and she couldn't do fuck-all about it.
