(Hattercrow flavored to go with your sketch request, which has me cackling and rubbing my hands together like an evil little fly)

sad - Jervis had a long run as the Hatter before a severe injury pretty much forced him into retiring, and he settled at Jonathan's farmhouse more often than not. Jonathan couldn't shake the thrill of taking his research on the road, though, and snuck out every so often to raise hell, or, more frequently as the years wore on, get paid to provide others with a little chemical assistance. On one of these latter jobs, he was deemed a liability and ended up interred in the freshly-poured foundation of the new wing of the natural history museum. Jervis never found out what happened to him.

Jervis has terribly itchy feet and hasn't had a real home address since his first arrest. His most well-known hideout is the former Kirisame Teahouse, now yclept the Six-Eternal, where he maintains an impressive workshop, as well as a cozy living space and garden...he loves it, but he's too paranoid about being caught, and won't stay there for more than a few nights at a time, no matter how poorly off he may be or how wretched the weather is or how invested he is in what he's working on.

The rest of the time, though, he's slowly circumnavigating the city, never staying any one place for longer than two weeks. Often he relies on his genial manner and nefarious talents to get a 'free' hotel room for a night or two or be 'invited' as someone's 'guest', but he'll take advantage of any unleased apartments or the homes of people away on vacations, or any business closed that day in a pinch -- he is a creature of comfort, though, so it must be a nice place.

He has stashes of things all over the city, so he's well-prepared wherever he finds himself, but on a day-to-day basis he's mostly living out of his pockets.

As far as his friends are concerned, wherever he's staying that night, he's an excellent host, despite being an utter pain in the ass to track down. He's more likely to be a visitor than visited, showing up like a stray cat on someone's doorstep and gracing their presence with good company for a few days.

romantic - Typical romantic evenings involves them curled up together, reading, for hours on end, or chattering away to (and over) each other like a flock of starlings -- anything from wordplay for the love of it, to gossip, to plans for murdering the Batman and making the citizens of Gotham play at their whims. They're usually on the same wavelength (or one quickly infects the other), but is there really a greater show of love than not strangling your partner when you're feeling quiet and they Can't Shut Up?

Neither one is much for shows of physical PDA -- years of Joker and Harley's gross makeout sessions on the rec room couch have instilled a Pavlovian response re: getting frisky in public in inmates and asylum staff alike -- but Jervis is very open and vocal about his affection, and frequently pairs it with giving flowers or other little trinkets. As far as Jonathan is concerned, personal space is something that happens to other people; he's worse than a cat.

Jervis's take-charge personality and boundless patience for Jonathan's flights of anxiety make Jonathan feel secure, while Jonathan's scatterbrained nature and deeply-rooted craving for praise and affection make Jervis feel needed.

Jervis always has a spare pair of Jonathan's glasses on hand; Jonathan can brew a perfect cup of English Breakfast in his sleep.
