“Damian’s not home right?” Tim asked, making his way into the Batcave where all the other bats sans Damian were sitting around the computer.
“No, tomorrow’s pixies first appointment with that new doctor so he decided to stay the night to give her moral support since she’s never been to a gyno before.” Jason said looking up from the files he was reading over, “honestly from what I’ve heard about what happens during those exams I don’t blame her for wanting a little support before going.”
“It’s all routine and can’t be any worse than the baby-making process.” Dick hummed typing away on the computer.
“I think that’s enough talk about that; why did you want to know Tim?” Bruce asked looking over at his second youngest.
“I found more info on Marinette thought I’d share with you all while Damian wasn’t here to stop me or compromise the data,” he explained walking over to the bat computer connecting his laptop to it.
The other men all sat silently around waiting for Tim to begin his presentation as he sorted through different encrypted files before bringing up a few pictures. “To begin her original name was Marinette Dupain-Cheng and her parents were bakers back in France, Tom Dupain and Sabine Cheng,” Tim said pointing them out.
“Marinette told me they essentially kicked her out,” Bruce said crossing his arms, “They believed the words of some liar and threw her out. She lived with a friend her last year in Paris before moving here.”
“Wait, hold on,” Dick said turning to Bruce, “Her parents kicked her out when she was still a minor? Isn’t that illegal?”
“Yes, and they knew that, she mentioned that when she told her grandmother she came and took custody from her parents, who seemed more than happy to hand it over, and let her stay to finish out that school year with a friend then moved here to finish out her schooling.” Bruce nodded.
“Yeah that all tracks to what I found,” Tim nodded, showing them documents next, “I have here the transfer of custody, her transcript for moving here, as well as the adoption papers for Ivy and Harley. I also went ahead and started running some background checks on the people still in her phone.” he added typing away.
“Anyone, we should be worried about?” Jason asked leaning back in his seat content to just watching Tim work, “She told me a bit about one of her friends’ guy seemed a bit sketch when he was a Paris hero though now I think he’s meh but never got a name from her.”
“You said he was one of the heroes?” Tim asked looking over at Jason.
“Yeah, she said he gave up his miraculous after the fight because his dad was the villain and he didn’t think Ladybug would want anything to do with him if she found out who he was so he bit the bullet and gave it up. He left Paris shortly after to live with his aunt.” Jason said looking around at the others.
“If the villain were outed then it’d be easy to find out who his son was,” Tim said, turning back to the computer the clicking of keys filling the Batcave as he searched through multiple French websites. The other three just watched as screen after screen flew by before settling on a trashy tabloid-like website.
“I don’t think this is what could be considered a credible source Timmy,” Dick winced looking over all the clickbait titles and the like to dislike ratio on the articles.
“No, but it does have quite a bit on the Paris heroes,” Tim said scrolling through to articles that had more likes and seemed of better quality, “here we go, Hawkmoth Defeated: How a Recluse Held Paris Hostage.”
The four men all leaned forward reading through the article that detailed the final battle between Hawkmoth and the Paris Heroes with a written description of what happened as well as a video that seemed to have been taken from a mix of sources and spliced together. The article detailed what Hawkmoth had been doing for three years and in the end, revealed him and his accomplice to be Gabriel Agrest and his assistant Nathalie Sancoeur.
“So we know that Gabriel Agrest was the big bad so who was his kid?” Jason asked as Tim typed away.
“Adrien Agrest, teen model for the Agrest Fashion Label. Looks like after his dad got taken down he had to go through months of interrogations and court hearings just to prove his innocence. His mother was found dead in the Agrest Mansion and with no one else it looks like his aunt took him in once he was cleared.” Tim said reading through the files he dug up.
“That would mean he probably gave his miraculous to Pixie right after he was cleared. If he was going to do something sketch he’d just hold onto it.” Jason said.
“He probably was so messed up after the battle he didn’t want any connection to the miraculous I mean his father turned evil because of them.” Dick hummed crossing his arms.
The four fell silent as they took in the information they had received, “Well Tim you got anything on that liar?” Jason asked, tilting his head.
“This whole blog is about that liar.” Tim said motioning to the tabloid, “I’ll email you guys the link and read it at your own pace there is years of garbage on here.”
“Then with that, I think we should all be heading out. We'll go over more of what Tim found later for now we should get to work,” Bruce said, getting to his feet and moving to change into his costume.
The other three nodded as Tim packed up his laptop and stored it away before they all got dressed and took their way out of the cave to begin their nightly rounds.

“So what do you think they found?” Marinette asked cuddled up to Damian's side on her bed with the hyenas crowded around them on either side resting their heads over their laps, “Chloe didn’t exactly hold back on mentioning certain names.”
“I would be surprised if Drake didn’t have an entire dossier on all your friends.” Damian said rubbing Marinette’s back, “You know he probably took all your contact info right?”
“Yeah oh well,” she shrugged turning to bury her face into his neck, “They were bound to find out eventually, might as well let some of the greatest detectives around have some fun piecing my life together.”
Damian hummed closing his eyes as he relaxed back into the plush pillows covering Marinette’s bed, “Are you nervous about tomorrow?” he asked.
“A little,” she sighed tightening her grip on his shirt, “Mum told me what to expect and said she’d sit in the room with me if I wanted her to, you can’t exactly join me since we can’t have this whole thing getting out.”
“I’ll be waiting here for you when you get home don’t worry,” he said kissing her forehead, “now try to get some sleep you barely got any at the manor.”
Marinette nodded letting out a deep sigh as she shifted around to get comfortable between Damian and the hyenas. Eventually, she settled down and dozed off into a dreamless sleep with Damian rubbing her back and the familiar weight of Bud’s head on her hip.
Damian stayed up for a bit longer listening to the quiet sounds around and thinking over what to do for the next day. He eventually made his way into a dreamless sleep as well a bit after one AM when he finally managed to shut his mind off.

“Marigold are you ready?” Ivy called from the kitchen as she looked through her back to make sure she had everything.
“Almost,” Marinette said, coming out in a comfortable knit sweater and skinny jeans, “I was looking for my purse. I think Lou took it,” she said, looking around in the usual spots for her bag.
“I’ll keep your wallet and Tiki in my bag we have to get going,” Ivy said, grabbing Marinette’s wallet off the counter and stowing it in her bag as Tiki flew over and settled into the bag as well giving Ivy a nod to close the bag once she was comfortable.
Marinette nodded and went back to her room grabbing her phone quickly checking it before putting it away in her pocket and leaned down kissing Damian’s cheek as he groaned slowly blinking his eyes open. “I’m leaving I’ll text you when we’re on our way back.”
“Okay habibti call me if you need me.” he yawned reaching up and pulled her down for a kiss, “good luck with your appointment I’ll see you after.”
Marinette nodded kissing him again as Ivy shouted for Marinette that they were leaving. She gave Damian another quick peck on the lips before pulling back and ran out to meet Ivy at the door. “Had to get my phone.” she smiled stepping out of the apartment and waited as Ivy locked up and ushered down to the cab waiting outside.
“Now remember Marigold just relax and everything will go smoothly, it will be uncomfortable but it won’t hurt okay.” Ivy said, settling into the cab beside Marinette and rubbing her back, “I can sit inside the room with you if need me to.”
“I think I’ll be okay,” Marinette said, taking a few calming breaths as they made their way to the doctor’s office. Once they arrived Marinette was starting to look a little green as they went through the check-in process and filled out their info.
Waiting for her name to be called felt like an eternity and her stomach was twisting into knots as she watched other women come and go through the office. Marinette sat there twisting her fingers in her sweater and took slow deep breaths trying to calm herself when the door opened, “Marinette?” a nurse called.
Marinette shot up her face going from pale to a deep red as she made her way to the nurse. The nurse smiled and ushered her inside and went about getting her blood pressure, “Hmm little elevated but I think it could just be your nerves.” the nurse smiled, and her height and weight.
“Alright girly so here’s your room I’m going to need you to completely strip down underwear and all then put this paper gown on opening to the front and here’s a privacy blanket for your legs.” the nurse said motioning to the items on the bed, “the doctor will be in here shortly.”
Marinette nodded as the nurse closed the door leaving her alone, “It’s just a check-up.” Marinette mumbled undressing and taking her time to carefully fold her clothes and set them on the table in the corner of the room. She put on the provided gown and settled on the table keeping her phone clenched tightly in her hand as she waited for the doctor to arrive.
It felt like an eternity when there was a knock at the door and the doctor stepped in, a petite redhead with a smattering of freckles covering her pale face, “Hello Miss Marinette I’m Doctor Amelia.” she smiled coming over to shake Marinette’s hand, “I see you’re here for a wellness exam and you’re expecting.”
“Uh yes,” Marinette coughed her voice, cracking a bit from her nerves, “I uh just found out a few weeks ago.” she blushed, gripping the paper blanket covering her legs.
Doctor Amelia nodded looking over the file, “This is your first-ever wellness exam yes?” she asked, taking a seat.
Marinette nodded keeping her head bowed trying to not let her nerves take over her.
“Okay sweetie we’ll go at your pace so just relax okay.” Doctor Amelia smiled setting the file aside and grabbed her stethoscope.
~.~.~.~
The entire exam didn’t take more than five minutes before the doctor was cleaning up and stepping out to give Marinette some privacy to redress. Marinette wasted no time pulling her clothes back on and sending Damian a text saying, ‘Making this baby was less violating than that.’ before putting her phone in her pocket as there was another knock, “Miss Marinette if you're ready you can go to the front and schedule the next appointment.” Doctor Amelia said through the door.
Marinette walked over opening the door her face still a bit flushed, “Okay uh when should I come back next?” she asked.
“I think in a month should be enough time and we should be able to hear the heartbeat by then.” she smiled, “Your moms waiting for you upfront, and here’s the card to one of my nurses if you have any questions feel free to call her okay.”
“Thank you.” Marinette nodded, taking the card and quickly went to the front to meet back up with Ivy and schedule the next appointment and made their way out to walk back home.
“I think we should pick up some breakfast.” Ivy smiled putting a hand on Marinette’s shoulder as they walked. “There’s a nice little bakery around the corner should we pick up something from there?”
“Yeah, that sounds good.” Marinette nodded following Ivy down to the bakery and got in line looking over the different pastries they had for sale. Between the two of them, they picked out an array of sweet and savory options with Marinette making sure to pick out some vegetarian options for Damian. Soon they were walking out with two large bags and were walking down the street back to their home.
Upon entering both had to hold their bags of treats high out the reach of Bud and Lou trying hard to reach the goodies hidden away. Harley quickly came over pulling them back by their collars so the two could set the bags down in the kitchen.
Damian was settled at the table and got up coming over to help them unpack as Harley got some coffee and tea going as they all settled down to enjoy a bit of a late breakfast. Marinette ate her croissants and fruit danish taking small bites so as not to upset her stomach any further. The small group spoke of anything and everything as they enjoyed their meal. Harley taking the time to pick out the meat from her sandwich to give to the two hyenas and Damian holding a small conversation with Tiki as she munched on the cookies Marinette picked out.
“So when are you going back?” Harley asked looking over at Marinette as she bit into her bagel.
“In a month, the doctor said we should be able to hear the heartbeat by then,” Marinette said, finishing off her danish, “I don’t know if I’m ready.”
“You’ll be fine Marigold we’re here for you every step.” Ivy smiled ruffling her hair, “Now I think you should go lay down, maybe settle your stomach and your nerves. You were looking a bit green and tense after your appointment.”
Marinette nodded, finishing her tea and croissant before heading back to her room to lay down. Damian finished off his breakfast quickly and excused himself before following Marinette leaving the two sirens and the small goddess at the table.
“At least he’s good for our little Mari.” Harley hummed sipping her coffee, “So long as he makes her happy he can stick around I guess but not too sure I forgive him for knocking our baby up.”
“Oh, now you don’t like him?” Ivy chuckled, raising her eyebrow at her.
“Oh, I adore the kid but you know one of us has to give him the shovel talk eventually.” Harley chuckled getting up to clean the dishes and put the leftovers away.

Bless The Broken Road - 19
In the morning, Jack drove up to Quantico and picked Jane up. They then drove the rest of the way to Ashburn, Virginia together.
“Hey, Jack?” Jane spoke, breaking the comfortable silence that had fallen between them.
“Hmm?”
“What if you moved into my old apartment? You’d live a lot closer than you do right now,” Jane suggested.
“That’s actually a good idea! I’ll think about it and let you know,” Jack told her. When they arrived at their parents’ place, Jane was greeted with a rather aggressive hug from both parents.
“Hi! Woah, hey now, be careful, please!” she laughed.
“You didn’t tell them?” Jack questioned.
“Tell us what?” Laura asked.
Jane turned to Jack and thew a sarcastic “Thanks,” at him.
“Sweetheart, tell us what?” Daniel asked. Jane sighed. “Alright, fine, come with me.” She entered the house and led her parents into a separate room. She briefly explained to them about being abducted and the injuries resulting from the incident. “Mom, Dad, trust me. I’m fine. I didn’t want you to worry so I didn’t tell you.”
Before they could say anything, the doorbell rang, forcing them to end the conversation.
Laura opened the door and Jane’s grandmother entered.
“Jane, dear! It’s so good to see you!” she cheered, coming over to give her a hug. “And Jack, honey!” She moved to hug him too.
“Hey, Grandma,” Jack greeted her. “Here, let me get your coat,” he offered.
“Thank you, dear. Such a gentleman!”
He took her coat from her and turned to Jane. “Jane, do you want me to grab yours too?”
“Oh, right! Yeah, thanks.” Jane took off her coat and gave it to him. He headed out of the entryway to go put them in one of the bedrooms. Everyone else headed into the living room to join the rest of the family.
During the meal, Jane’s relatives asked her about work and how that was going. She told them how she enjoys helping people, but avoided talking about injuries and other dangers of the job.
“Jane, would you mind helping me bring the pies out of the kitchen?” Laura asked once everyone had finished their main course.
Jane obliged and followed her out of the room.
“So, I noticed how that extra seat at the table you asked me to save has remained empty,” Laura pointed out.
“Yeah, um, it was meant for Spencer. You remember him from the hospital?” Jane paused a moment for her to confirm before hurrying to continue, not wanting to dwell on that moment too much. “Anyway, the team is still on a case, so he couldn’t be here.”
She nodded in understanding. “How is Spencer doing?”
“He’s great. Actually, we started dating a while ago, six months tomorrow, and a few weeks ago he asked me to move in with him,” Jane confessed.
Laura’s eyes widened and she gasped in surprise. “Oh, that’s great, honey!” She stepped forward to embrace her daughter. “And you’re happy?”
“Very happy,” Jane laughed into her shoulder.
“Well, I’m glad!”
~
After the meal was over, everyone moved into the living room to watch football.
Jane’s phone went off and she stepped away to answer it.
“Hey, Spence!” she spoke.
Cheering erupted from the other room.
“What’s going on?” Spencer asked.
“I’m guessing one of the teams just scored a touchdown. My family’s watching football,” Jane explained.
"Oh, alright. Well, I just called to let you know that we’re on our way to find the UNSUB right now. I should be home later tomorrow.”
“That’s great! I’m planning on staying at my parents overnight, so I should be back later tomorrow as well,” Jane told him.
“I gotta go,” Spencer said suddenly.
“Oh, ok. Stay safe. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
~
That night, Jane struggled to sleep, nightmares invading her mind, all of which put her back in that godforsaken basement.
Throughout the next day, she continued having flashbacks to what happened to her, though she did her best to appear fine in front of her parents.
On the drive home, Jack asked her, “Hey are you doing alright, Jane?”
”Yeah, I’m fine. Why do you ask?”
”You’ve been quiet today. And there were a few times while we were still at the house where you seemed to zone out a little bit.”
Jane shook her head, keeping her eyes on the road. “I’m just tired. I had trouble sleeping last night.”
”Well, maybe I should be driving then.”
Jane laughed. “I swear, Jack, I’m fine.”
Upon arriving at Spencer’s apartment, Jane helped Jack move his things to his car before saying goodbye and heading towards the door.
”Jane?” Jack called out. Jane stopped and turned to look at him. “Are you sure you’re alright?”
“Yes, I’m fine!” Jane insisted. “Goodnight. Let me know when you get home safe.”
Jack nodded, still not entirely convinced, before climbing into his car.
Jane headed up to the apartment to find that Spencer was already home from the case. She set her things by the door and followed the sound of cooking to the kitchen.
”Spencer?” she called out, causing him to drop the spoon he was holding.
He turned around to see her standing in the doorway. “Jane, you’re home! I didn’t hear you come in.”
He crossed the room and embraced her. She squeezed back tightly then reached up and kissed him.
”I missed you,” she told him.
”I missed you too.”
Jane looked towards the dining area and saw the table set with candles lit and flowers in the center.
“What's all this?” she asked.
”Happy 6 month anniversary!”
Jane’s eyes widened. “Oh my god, that’s today.” She stepped back and ran a hand through her hair. “Spencer, I am so sorry. I completely forgot!”
He pulled her back into his arms. “It’s ok, Jane.”
“It’s just that there’s a lot going on with everything that happened and, and I didn’t even realize Thanksgiving was this week until Wednesday,” Jane explained.
“Janey, It’s fine. Don’t apologize.”
Jane sighed. “Thank you for understanding.” She kissed him again.
“Of course. Everything should be ready in a few minutes and then we can eat.”
“Sounds perfect.” She pecked his cheek before going to put her stuff away while she waited.
Once the food was ready, they sat down and enjoyed a nice evening together.
~
In the middle of the night, Jane woke up from a nightmare. Trying not to disturb Spencer, she did her best to quietly get up and head to the bathroom. As soon as she closed the door, she rushed to the toilet and vomited. When she was finished, she sat back, covering her mouth to silence her sobs.
She stayed there for a few minutes, taking deep breaths to calm down, before going back to bed.
Fortunately, it appeared that Spencer had slept through everything.
The next day, Jane and Spencer lounged around all day. Jane felt tired and couldn’t seem to change her mood.
Sunday morning, Jane had a vivid dream in which she was tied up again. When she woke up, it felt as if Spencer’s arms around her were the restraints from her dream. She began to kick and scream, struggling to get out.
“Woah! Jane! Jane! It’s just me! Janey, calm down. It’s alright,” Spencer told her. “Breathe.”
Jane went still and breathed in and out a few times, calming down. “I’m sorry,” she told him.
“It’s ok. Shhh. You’re safe,” he assured her. “Why don’t I make us some breakfast?”
Jane nodded and he kissed her forehead before getting out of bed.
When breakfast was ready, Jane slowly got out of bed and came to the table to eat. She ate a few bites, but mainly just picked at her food.
Spencer watched her, concerned.
He set down his fork. “Jane, I think we should talk about what’s been happening,” he told her.
She stood up and moved to go sit on the couch, ignoring him. He also stood and followed, taking a seat next to her and taking her hands.
“Jane, look. It’s going to take some time to get over what happened to you but it’ll get better,” he assured her.
“You don’t know that!” Jane snapped, ripping her hands out of his and standing up. “You don’t understand. You have no idea what I’m going through.” Jane stormed out of the room and headed back to the bedroom, slamming the door.
Spencer chose to let her be, giving her time alone with her thoughts. She slept most of the day until he chanced going back there to talk to her again.
“Janey?” he whispered, coming in and sitting on the bed.
Jane rolled over away from him and covered her head with the blanket.
“Alright, you don’t have to talk. But you should know something.” Spencer sighed before continuing, “Around three years ago, I was abducted by an UNSUB. His name was Tobias Hankel.”
Jane took the covers off her face and turned to face him, sitting up as well.
“He repeatedly tortured me and forcibly injected Dilaudid into me and I nearly died.”
Jane looked down, ashamed of her reaction earlier. “I had no idea. I’m sorry.”
”It does get better, Jane. But it does no good to keep it all in.”
Jane leaned into him and he wrapped an arm around her.
”Want to go out to the couch and watch Christmas movies for the rest of the day?”
”OK,” Jane agreed. ~ On Monday, Jane had a doctor’s appointment to see how her recovery was going.
”Do you want me to come with?” Spencer asked.
”You can if you want. It’s up to you,” she told him. He decided to go with and went to also get ready.
The doctor informed her that her ribs would probably be healed in a week, but her lung would take up to four more weeks to heal completely.
On the way home, Reid decided to stop at work to get more paperwork.
”Aren’t you going to come up with me?” he asked Jane when he realized she wasn’t moving to get out of the car.
”I’m not going up there looking like this. I’m in sweats,” Jane told him.
”Janey, nobody cares what you’re wearing. They’d be happy to see you,” he insisted. Still, she refused. Spencer sighed and exited the car alone, heading into the building and up to the BAU.
“Hey pretty boy,” Morgan greeted him.
“Hey guys,” he replied, looking at Morgan and Garcia.
“Didn’t Jane have a doctor’s appointment this morning?” Garcia questioned.
“Yeah. We’re on the way home from it now. I wanted to pick up some paperwork.”
“So where’s Jane?”
Reid sighed. “Waiting in the car. She didn’t want to come up here ‘looking like she does’,” he explained, using air quotes.
“That doesn’t matter,” Morgan said.
“I know. I told her that, but she wouldn’t listen to me. She hasn’t been herself lately,” he confessed. “I’m worried about her.”
Before they could respond, JJ came over to them, informing the group that there was a case.
Reid nodded. “I’ll meet everyone on the jet and get caught up. I have to drive Jane home.”
When he got back to the car, he told Jane about the case and drove her home, dropping her off before turning around and driving back.
~ The next day Jane got a call from Jack.
“Hey Jane, so I thought about it and I’d like to move into your old apartment if you’re still ok with it,” he told her.
“Oh, Jack, that’s great!”
“How about we do it this weekend?”
“Hmm. Can we wait until January? I still can’t lift that much stuff and I’d like to help.”
“I think it’s better to do it sooner rather than later,” Jack insisted.
Jane thought for a moment before sighing, “Fine. I guess that can work. I’ll see if Morgan can help you guys.”
“Awesome! Just let me know. I’ll talk to you later.”
“Alright, bye.” Reid called later that night to check in on her. “Hey, how are you doing?”
“I’m alright. Jack called earlier. He’s agreed to move into my old apartment, but he wants to do it this weekend. Will you ask Morgan if he’ll help out?”
“Yeah, sure.”
“Great. I’m pretty tired. I think I’m going to go to bed here soon.”
“Oh, alright. I love you.”
“I love you too.” Jane hung up.
Spencer sighed and stared at his phone. She still sounded like she was in a gloomy mood. He thought of an idea and called up Garcia.
“Hey, Garcia.”
“Hey, I thought you guys were calling it a night?” she questioned.
“We are, but I want you to do something for me.”
“Of course. What is it?”
“Can you call Jane tomorrow and check in on her? I’m worried about her.”
“Sure thing!”
“Thank you, Garcia. I really appreciate it.
~
True to her word, Garcia called Jane the next day, but Jane didn’t pick up. She tried calling again a few times throughout the day but never got an answer. Remaining persistent, she decided to head to the apartment after work to check on her in person.
Jane laid on the couch, rereading the same paragraph of her book over and over again. She heard a knock at the door but ignored it.
“Jane? I know you’re in there,” she heard Garcia call through the door. “Please let me in.”
Jane set her book down but didn’t get up.
“I brought you a gift basket with bath goodies and some hot chocolate mix.”
Jane sighed and finally stood up, stretching before heading over to the door. She opened it then turned back around to return to the couch, not even offering Garcia a greeting. She sat back down and pulled her knees up to her chest.
“Jane, talk to me. Please?” Garcia pleaded, coming in and setting her gift basket down on the coffee table. She took a seat next to her on the couch and gingerly placed a caring hand on her shoulder.
Jane turned and looked at her. After a split second, she burst out crying.
“I’m so tired, Penelope!” she sobbed. “I’m exhausted but I can’t sleep cause when I sleep it’s like I’m back in that damn basement. And even when I’m awake I’m not always safe. Sometimes I have flashbacks to what happened. And it hurts! Ow!” She gasped in pain, clutching at her abdomen. “It hurts to cry because it upsets my ribs and lung which are still healing.”
“Oh, sweet girl! Come here!” Garcia told her. Jane moved to rest her head in her lap. “What you need is a girl’s night. Why don’t we watch romcoms and order a pizza?”
“Yeah,” Jane sniffed. “That sounds nice. Thanks, Pen.”
~
Spencer arrived home from the case on Thursday night and Jane greeted him with a kiss.
“I know you asked Garcia to check in on me while you were gone,” she told him.
“You do?” he asked, wary of her reaction.
“Yeah. Thank you for that. I really needed it.”
He sighed in relief then smiled. “You’re welcome. I’m glad she could help.”
On Saturday, Jack, Spencer, and Morgan worked to move Jane’s stuff into Spencer’s apartment. Then on Sunday, they drove to Richmond to put Jack’s things into a truck, drove back to Quantico, and moved his stuff into Jane’s old apartment.
When Spencer and Jane arrived home in their own apartment in the evening, Jane hugged Spencer and reached up to kiss his cheek.
Smiling up at him, she said, “Now we can officially call it ‘our’ apartment!”
Spencer grinned and kissed her.

simple and sweet
summary: little sequel to this rockstar au mixed with best friends get pregnant fic (alternatively, “so much beautiful sweet fluff” - @swans-and-pirates)
word count: ~1800
a/n: I wrote more because it’s Friday and I needed to flex my writing muscles weeee (thanks to Meagan for reading and flailing! <3)
They’re all giggles when they fall into their bed on the evening of their wedding.
They’d decided unanimously that of course they’d get married without making a big deal out of it.
They didn’t tell anyone, and while they might come to regret the decision later, as Emma feels the cool metal of her husband’s wedding band against her skin, her heart leaps and she can’t help from grinning wide.
He kisses her sweetly and settles a hand over her middle while they catch their breath, just staring at one another in the aftermath of the most beautiful and wonderful day she’s ever had.
“Bloody hell,” Killian whispers, laughing under his breath. Her legs tangle with his and she bites on her lip to keep from laughing too loudly. “I cannot believe we’re married.”
Emma’s fingers tangle with his and she strokes her thumb over his. “You’re my husband.”
Killian grins, his eyes trailing over her face. “Aye. I know.” He kisses her soundly. “You’re my wife.”
She giggles. Her heart feels warm at the mention of her new title.
“Yeah.” Emma searches his eyes. “I know.”
Killian kisses her again and she delights in it, desperate to hold onto this moment forever. She presses her hand against his cheek and their foreheads touch.
“We really should have told someone,” Emma sighs. “I have a feeling we’re going to be obvious.”
Killian laughs sweetly. “I vote we change not a thing, my wife.”
He meets her eyes when she shifts her head to rest on the edge of her pillow.
“But what about Liam?” Emma wonders. “Or Mary Margaret?”
He kisses the tip of her nose. “When we’re ready, we can tell them.”
“Yeah,” Emma smiles softly. She squeezes his hand. “What’s our next step?”
Killian sighs heavily. “Sleep. Worry about tomorrow in the morning.”
She can’t say she disagrees with the sentiment. Her hand cups his cheek again and she kisses his lips softly.
“You have the most beautiful mind, Killian Jones. I’m so lucky.”
Killian stares at her, smiling gently with sleep weighing heavy in his eyes. “No, I think I’m the lucky one.” His fingers caress her belly and butterflies attack her there. “So bloody lucky.”
///
Her husband is a bed hog.
She realizes it as soon as she wakes up the morning after their wedding. He has limbs spread in every direction and she’s almost on the edge of the bed.
Emma rolls her eyes. She shoves the arm that’s hanging over her middle away. He jerks awake, sucking in a harsh breath as his groan rumbles out.
“What’s happening?”
“Killian, you’re a bed hog,” she mumbles into her pillow. She curls up facing him and he winces as he rakes his fingers through his hair.
“Well, to be fair I’ve spent my life not sharing a bed with my wife,” he says thickly.
“Laying on the charm pretty thick for a guy who almost kicked his pregnant wife out of bed.” Emma snaps.
Killian sighs. He reaches over and tugs her to him. “Swan, I’m sorry.”
“You’re only sorry because I’m mad at you.” Emma grumbles.
Killian kisses her cheek and nose and forehead. “Mm. No. I’m sorry because I’m in the wrong, darling.”
Emma can’t help but smile at the statement. She softens, but only a little. She shoves at his chest but then cups his face between her hands so she can study him in the morning glow.
“What are we doing?” she asks in a whispered giggle.
Killian laughs with her. His hand caresses her side. “I don’t know.” He chuckles. “I truly have no bloody idea. I just love you.”
Emma reaches for his hand and settles it over her middle. “I just love you too.”
Killian smiles, crinkles forming beside his eyes. “That’s enough.”
“Yeah. It’s enough.”
///
She’s showing. Like, showing, showing.
None of her pants fit and she can’t seem to make it through a trip to the store without someone stopping her wondering when she’s due.
It doesn’t help that she has Killian with her, eager to step into his role as her husband and father of the little life growing inside of her.
Somehow, though, he makes it better when he kisses her temple and tells her, “Joy is something to be shared.”
Emma quirks an eyebrow. “So should we share with our friends now?”
Killian sighs. “Probably.”
///
They’re living together in Killian’s loft apartment.
There are photographs of the two of them on the fridge and in frames all around the place. Her favorite mug sits beside his on the counter. Their books mingle on the bookshelves. The same can be said of their movie collections.
Her throw pillows are on his couch and their clothes are kind of scattered everywhere in their bedroom. It being that Killian’s back from tour and Emma just moved in while she’s been growing out of her clothes, she reasons that it makes sense.
Killian invites their friends- mostly just members of the band and a few of Emma’s close friends from work- and Emma cleans while he cooks dinner.
By the time the first of their guests arrive, Emma has a nervous knot in her stomach and she keeps anxiously fluffing the pillows on the couch.
“Darling,” Killian comes to her and massages the kinks out of her shoulder blades. “It’ll be perfectly fine.”
“Right,” Emma sighs. She closes her eyes and shakes her head. “We’re just telling them that I’m five months pregnant and that we got married all in one sitting. No big deal.”
Her husband stops what he’s doing and she turns to face him completely.
“You look beautiful.”
Emma feels a blush in her cheeks. She shakes her head. “You’re my husband so you have to say that.”
“I mean it,” Killian promises. He rubs her arm. “Are you ready?”
Emma takes a deep breath. “No.”
Killian laughs heartily. He leans in and kisses her forehead. “I’m here. Okay?”
“Okay.”
///
Mary Margaret probably could pass out cold.
David looks completely shocked and almost affronted that nobody said anything.
Liam, who has had no idea that she’s pregnant, initially was angry before Killian announced their second bit of news to his brother.
After that, it became a game of catching up and warm hugs.
Killian’s band reacts with a mixture of excitement and confusion.
Robin claims he already knew, but Emma thinks he’s just trying to play it off because he wasn’t invited to their wedding.
///
“It went okay,” Emma murmurs when they get ready for bed that night.
Killian meets her eyes in the mirror. He has his toothbrush in his mouth when he smiles and nods. “It went okay.”
He spits and rinses. Emma does the same.
She turns to him. “We’re kind of stupid. Getting married like that.”
“Nah,” Killian shakes his head. “You’re my best friend. Who else is going to deal with me?”
Emma laughs. She can’t help it. “I am perfect for you, right?”
“Mm,” Killian leans down and captures her in a minty kiss. “Completely perfect.” He kisses her again. “Mrs. Jones.”
///
“We should get a puppy,” Killian says one night while they’re watching TV.
Emma sighs. “We’re already having a baby. Isn’t that enough to worry about?” She chews a few pieces of popcorn as she watches the screen and when Killian doesn’t answer, she looks up at him. “Killian-”
“Alright, alright,” Killian kisses her head. “It was just an idea.”
Emma frowns. “If you’re sad, I’ll be sad.”
“I’m not sad.”
She turns toward him and sets the popcorn bowl on the floor. “Killian.”
“Emma.”
Emma searches his eyes. “We’re young and impulsive enough as it is.”
“Exactly,” Killian says, as if it helps his case. “Why shouldn’t we get a puppy?”
“Because I’m your wife and I say no.”
///
@killianjones: thinking about getting a puppy, but my wife says no. hm.
///
@killianjones: just realized we never officially announced! #tbt that time we got married.
///
Emma receives the notifications one after the other while she’s folding laundry in the bedroom. She isn’t sure what she should be more concerned about, the puppy or the fact that she’s now officially the wife of one of the world’s most famous musicians.
“Babe, we’re not getting a puppy!”
“Damn.” Killian says, coming into the room with a small fluffy golden puppy tucked under his arm. “I guess I’ll just have to send him back-”
Emma laughs. “Killian Jones, you-” She goes to him and forces a stern look while she admires the tiny puppy in his arms. Her frown falls away in the moment that the puppy barks and seems to smile at her. “Fine. We can keep him.”
Killian grins.
///
@killianjones: officially announcing the latest addition to the Jones family, Jack (Sparrow).
///
“We have a doctor’s appointment, babe,” Emma laughs, swatting her husband when he groans into his pillow. She’s dressed, sitting on the edge of the bed. With an amused smile, she allows Jack to join them on the bed. She brings him to Killian’s face and the puppy licks him eagerly.
“Bloody hell, Sparrow-” Killian groans and runs a hand down Jack’s back to stop the licking. “Doctor’s?”
“I thought I told you about it,” Emma says. “Last night before bed.”
Killian sighs. “Darling, I don’t remember.”
Emma pulls Jack away from Killian and scratches under his ears. “Well, if we’re going to make it on time we have to leave in like ten minutes. I’m kind of excited to see if it’s a boy or a girl.”
That wakes him up. He sits up, wide eyes, and shakes his head.
“You don’t know yet?”
Emma laughs. She takes her fingers through his hair and tilts her head, smiling. “No. I wanted to wait for you.”
Killian takes her hand and kisses her palm. “Alright, then. Give me five minutes and I’ll be ready to leave.”
It takes him seven, but she can’t be mad when he’s singing and wondering aloud about what’ll happen during the appointment while she sits on their bed and waits for him.
///
“What do you think?” Emma asks when they sit in the back of a taxi. She rubs a hand over her belly. “Boy or girl?”
Killian studies her middle, his hand pressing against the high point. “Hmm… I’ve had it in my head for a while that it’s a girl.”
Emma hums. “Interesting.”
“Why is that interesting?”
“Because I think so too.” Emma smiles at him. “But I don’t care either way.”
///
The gel is cold, but Killian’s hand is warm.
The doctor is thrilled to see them both in attendance and even happier to find out about their recent marriage.
Killian gets tears in his eyes when they stare at the screen and Emma laughs happily when he kisses her cheek, murmuring again and again, “That’s our baby.”
“Do you want to know the sex?”
“Yes.”
“It’s a girl.”
///
“A girl, Swan! We’re having a baby girl!”
“Yes, I know,” Emma giggles. “We’re having a girl.”

@writing-prompt-s I couldn’t find the prompt that sparked this idea but I wrote it and liked what I had so far. Thought I’d share anyway even though it’s been a minute.  It’s the prompt where the author is writing a story, stops, leaves, then comes back to find that the story is writing itself. I took that idea and ran with it.  From the Notes of Terra
Hi hi! This is Terra speaking. Recording. Something. Oh gosh, I lost my train of thought. I lost the next sentence. Maybe I need this app to rewrite my opening. Hahaha. Ooo. Bad joke. I'm nervous. Sorry! I'm gonna start this over. Don't fire me!
------
Hello there, this is Terra script supervisor and pre-production assistant for MESS films. Today I will begin documenting the effects of the Storytime App via my audio diary…*sucks teeth*... Is diary professional? Notebook! My audio notebook. So okay, here we go.
I am launching the app and running it on an old story I tried to write but then forgot about it as soon as I hit page two. The moment I started it, I was instantaneously overtaken by this drive to get it out and a page later it fizzled out almost as suddenly. So let's see what you got app. *singing this* Hopefully, you have more of an attention span than I do. Alright! It's running. Okay then, I'm going to leave and not watch this pot boil or whatever. Until next time. *lower* “Until next time? God. Do you even want a job? “
------
Hello again. This is Terra and I'm just realizing that I probably don't have to keep introducing my name all the time, ya big slowpoke you. Hahaha. I am checking the document now - oh it's sunset. About 6:36 PM. I started this around 9:00 AM or so. I'll be better about the timestamp going forward. Promise. Okay, looks like…oh wow! It works. Whoa! There's like quite a few pages here. Okay, I'm going to read these and respond in a moment.
-----
Hahahaha. Well. So suffice it to say the app doesn't necessarily make things more interesting as much as it makes more things. This piece is still pretty dull as hell but that's on the arteur and not necessarily the program. I can't remember now if I mentioned this or not but this story was based off of “Her Morning Elegance” by Oren Lavie. So it decided to continue that same thread by taking this female character and continuing her day which is really more in her head than it is with reality. So there's like two pages of her making bread and cutting a slice of it and I'm not even lying. So there's that. And I've caught up to the point where she has finished everything she's doing today and getting ready for bed and I don't think I necessarily need to keep reading about her putting on her pajamas and the feel of the cotton and her thoughts about what the feel of the cotton sends her to in the vast recesses of her mind. I don't think anybody else needs to worry about this so I'm going to move on and start the app on a different story. This one is a sword and sorcery piece that I wrote during a fantasy Workshop back in college so let's see what happens. It has a battle and sword fights and magic and all around more entertainment value so it'll be interesting to see how the app responds. That's all for now. Signing out.
-----
Good morning. It is January 19, 2025. The time is 8:45 AM and I am checking the fantasy stooory… Now!
Oh wow! There's like. There's a lot going on here. Okay so first off, I forgot that I had two perspectives in this piece that I alternated between and the app kept both threads running simultaneously. It's separated the page into two columns to accommodate this and I think that's really brilliant. Oh my god. Now I'm wondering how it responds to each type of perspective in narration - third person, first person, omniscient, etc. I'm reading from the beginning and I chose third person but didn't commit to it as much as I wanted to, ya know? Like there's still plenty of moments where italics run rampant with the thoughts and intentions of my characters. So let's play scientist. I'm going to add one more story - sorry, I should say prose - to the mix and I'm picking something with an omniscient narrator. Aha! This’ll work. It's a children's story I wrote about manners. Okay. It's running on that too. Signing out for now.
----
January 23. 9:05 AM.
So instead of just updating as things were happening I decided to wait to see how a whole theory of mine panned out before reporting it so that way it's a more complete thought? At least to me. With that said…Holy. Donuts. First off let's get organized. I've divided the stories into A, B, and C. Story A is the one about the woman. Story B is the one about fantasy. Story C is the one for children. So story a is still going strong she is continuing her week she even had a doctor's appointment. That was a whole thing was just her and the doctor. Story B continues to amaze me.
The characters are just so deeply invested that no matter how hackneyed my plot was they are determined to treat it like it is on this Tolkien level epic, which I guess for them it would be because it is their lives. And another interesting thing is one narrator is recovering from battle and so they've been stuck in a hospital bed for a while which means these stories are being told in “real time.” These stories are continuing to grow minute-by-minute in their own world instead of skipping to the good parts like we would as writers. For example I skipped three days in keeping this journal but they've been developing for three days in each of their worlds.
Story C is a learning lesson too. After they initial scenario is dealt with the main character continues to want to learn things because that's their personality, so they keep learning about how things are made and where they come from. Here's hoping they can avoid “The Talk” for a few more novels at least.
So what next? New mediums that's what. I'm going to start a new set of stories at the end of this week on the app and close these out. Bye for now.
--------
January 28. 9:00 AM.
Whoa. So. Revelations. Um. I decided to cancel story A first last night and something told me not to do them all at once and um yeah. It's heartbreaking in the weirdest way. I have pages and pages of this woman searching for depth in every possible way, yearning for it where there is none. And then towards the end it's just her realizing nothing has meaning at all. And she feels so alone from that. And then she presumably ya know… Ends it herself. And the story is locked for some reason? I don't know. Someone in the tech department needs to fix that ‘cause I feel like I definitely murdered her and it's just. Um… Uncanny? Unsettling? Disturbing. But I guess at least now we know the way a story ends. With Death and blank pages. Hmm…
------
January 29. 8:58 AM.
I debated it all day off-recorder yesterday and I can't cancel the other stories. Not until I figure out a way to manipulate the ending so that I feel better for having left the characters in a better frame of mind. So for the first time I'm altering them today. I'm going to speed up Story C to when my little child character is a preteen and see what happens when I add the skip instead. Also, Story B killed a character I had from the beginning and I'm just going to bring him back because I liked them too much to kill. I mean it made sense but I don't like that ending personally.
Meanwhile, I've added two new ones to the mix. Story D which is a very short play I wrote for in class about these people forced to play happy in childlike TV program world. They get a new co-worker who doesn't know the rules and just questions everything. Let's see where that goes. It was meant to be a comedy. Here's hoping this app has a sense of humor.
Story E is a comic that a friend of mine wrote. It's about a mystic healer sent on a perilous quest to find a cure for their village’s water supply. They're pursued by all kinds of beasts and especially targeted by a hitman from a warrior tribe that wants to enlace the healer’s tribe. I told my friend to give me half of that story since it was already complete.
So let's find out how formatting works in the App. Signing off.

We go to Albert singing I love you and that’s all I know in a dark room with no lights
Albert
“I bruise you when you bruise me we both bruise too easily (x2) to let it show I love you and that’s all I know all my plans have fallen through all my plans depend on you (x2) to help them grow  I love you and that’s all I know when the singer’s gone let the song go on it’s a fine line between darkness and dawn they say in the darkest night there’s a light beyond but the ending always comes at last ending always comes too fast they come too fast but they too slow I love you and that’s all I know that’s all I know (x2) “
Albert finishes and as the lights go on looks at hazel
They kiss
