hmmm is it weird that i’m categorizing canon star wars material as alternate canon universes now

there’s “the OT movies only” universe

the “OT & PT movies only” universe

the “movies + legends pre-disney” universe

the “everything published under disney” universe

and the “everything ever published under the star wars label” universe

#personal #based off of what you consider the 'canon' timeline the star wars vibes are so different #like movies-only vs. movies + ancillary released content are two VERY different star wars canons #hell the OT only and the OT & PT only canons can exist in wildly different world states if you think about it #never mind the movies only vs movies + everything else verse #like ahsoka wasn't a concept in the OT & PT #and she's not in any of the 'main' nine movies from OT all the way to the ST #but her inclusion in the sw canon narrative shifts the vibe DRASTICALLY than if she never existed at all #like she's a huge chunk of the canon that just isn't referenced at all in any of the movies bc she came after #well she's not in the ST for... whatever reason #honestly the more and more sw writers add to the years between the PT and the OT the less bleak the OT becomes #which is........ kind of sad to me #since the whole point was that the galaxy was empty of hope and fighting a losing battle up until. you know.
