Philippians 2: 5-11

5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (NKJV)

there are three parts to this passage: Jesus’ humility, Jesus’ praise, and a challenge to us. Of course Jesus knew he was holy and perfect- that he was equal with God, but He still came to live on this earth for us. He was more than human, but He came to the earth in the form of a man. He did not selfishly stay with God in heaven because He knew the will of His Father was for Him to live with us. Verse 8 says he “humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death, even death on the cross.” This is common knowledge to Christians so its easy to become immune to the meaning of that statement. we know Jesus died on the cross for our sins- we often thank God for it whenever we pray- but we don't always think about all the things that it really means when He died on the cross for our sins. (or maybe its just me lol thats something I can work on) But anyways verses 9-10 are the praise part I was talking about earlier. Jesus humbled Himself while God exalted Him. God gave Jesus a name above every name! that means we should put Jesus above every other person or thing in our lives! Verse 5 and verse 11 are both challenges that I encourage you (and myself) to think about. verse 5 tells us to have the same mind that Jesus had- basically to be like Jesus. We are to humble ourselves in the same way that was described in verses 7-8. When we do that, God will lift us up (James 4:10, 1 Peter 5:6) The next challenge is in verse 11 and tells us to confess that Jesus is Lord. Confessing Jesus is one step toward a person’s salvation, which is the most important decision someone can make!!

The Cause and Cure for Worry by Joyce Meyer

Worry is like a rocking chair—it's always in motion but it never gets you anywhere. So why do we struggle with it? And what good does it do? Worry is the opposite of faith, and it steals our peace, physically wears us out, and can even make us sick.

Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. Psalm 55:22

That seems pretty clear and simple, yet some continue struggling because they're too bullheaded to ask for help. But the humble get the help. So if your way isn't working, why not try God's way? All of us would be better off if we'd learn to lean on God and ask for His help. But as long as we try to do everything ourselves, God will let us. He won't take care of our problems and worries—our cares—until we turn loose of them and give them to Him. ......God won't do for you what you can do yourself. You must do what you can do, and then trust God to do what you can't. When we humble ourselves and ask for His help, then He's able to release His power in our situations. It's only then that we can really enjoy life.

So the cure for worry is humbling ourselves before God, casting our cares on Him, and trusting Him. Instead of making ourselves miserable trying to figure everything out on our own, God wants us to place our trust in Him and enter into His rest, totally abandoning ourselves to His care.  

Develop an Attitude of Faith and Prayer

We must stop trying to make things happen the way we want and get to the place where we desire to please God more than ourselves.

....Faith is stronger than doubt, negativism and unbelief. Faith has a positive attitude that can overcome our past and lead us into a great future. Faith is a powerful force that cannot be conquered.......Prayer is the blueprint for a successful life. 

Worry opens the door for the devil, but worship is reverence and adoration for God that leads us into His presence.
