fandom autopsies done by people who weren't on the front lines actively consuming and interacting always befuddle me. not because i believe it's super hard to summarize a fandom after its peak through solely outsider research but because actually i do kind of believe that

#fandom- especially the hash tag craazzyy ones that get attention and retrospectives are a very nuanced environment #by their very nature they are constantly evolving with very little clear tangible evidence of those changes #so to try and unravel it based on limited experience. esp when your audience is likely people who have been in that environment for YEARRSS #is like taking a couple years of high school spanish and then confidently trying to speak to a native or teach it to someone else #+ a fandom is an inherently emotionally charged place !! #to assess it without any underlying respect is possible but it'll never read as genuine to people who were/are there #which will just result in polarizing views on your summary and probably becoming a laughing stock on tumblr for a week #anyways this is why the last bronycon by jenny nicholson is the gold standard of fandom exploration to me #when writing a retrospective you dont necessarily have to be a dedicated fan with 10+ years of blogging and tangible impact on the fandom- #-but you need to consult super closely with primary sources!! as you would any retrospective on a social group you werent a part of!! #anyways. internet culture and internet sociology are some of my favorite topics i love this stuff!!!! take my hand... come research with me #saturn is rambling down

#i love all of you #so fucking much #but god this blog feels lonely sometimes. and like i know it's my fault but that doesn't exactly make it better #my dilemma is that i need to talk with people #just. be in contact #in order to function #but actually talking with people is extremely stressful no matter what i do #and i just feel bad for all the people that have talked with me #only for me to end up completely ghosting them #but i don't know how to change and it feels like it's slowly corroding me from the inside #i had friends in primary school. kinda #barely #then i entered high school #first year pre pandemic i had a group that for whatever reason latched onto me as one of them? #but then we moved to online classes #and when that stopped and we all came back i was completely alone again #then i moved to a school focusing on autistics in 2nd and it was like 5 people in my class #none of us ever talked to each other #i just wish I'd had literally any real friends over the past 4 years so I'd actually know how to act. and get used to people #maybe i should just accept that I'll never be able to interact normally with people #even other people w autism clearly #and try to live with that? #but I'm gonna be honest i don't know if i can #so what the hell do i even do #i don't want to be coddled #i don't want to be pitied #i don't want to reach out #which leaves rotting as the only option

About!

This is an My Singing Monster au (run by @beezlebubs-art) where I basically do whatever I want with the msm universe and lore to make it fit my own interests. Mainly centered around monster biology currently. There's also a bit more solid of plot to the monster world too, it's just decently different than the base cannon one.

Basic things to know are that the monster world has a more lively ecology with more critters and stuff. The monsters and critters act more like animals and eat each other and stuff (Monsters won't eat anything they know is sentient because they have morals still), this is for my own enjoyment as I feel some monsters would fit as carnivores and I wanted to play with the idea of monsters having predators.

im not making anymore like, big projects for this but I still have the au and might think of small things for it, but mainly doodles.

Blog Redesign Complete!

I went ahead and spent the last two days cleaning up my blog in preparation to be a bit more active over here should twitter implode, so everything should be in working order!

All old posts have been tagged, old vents have been deleted, some context has been provided to old posts, so with any luck, I won't need to do another deep dive anytime soon w.

I've also gone ahead and gotten a new theme running courtesy of xuethems. It honestly really refreshes the vibe and helps wash away the lingering psychic damage of reading posts of mine from 2015 w

I thinka helpful way to look at stigmatized mental health issues is to remember that for many, behaviours and desires can look like an exaggerated version of emotions we all have and behaviours we all do. This isn't a good or bad thing, but I think it can be a helpful frame of reference for those of us who don't have that experience.

For example, a person with BPD might appear to others like they are doing something extreme (a good example of this is that I saw somebody express that they used to have intrusive thoughts telling them to break their arm so they would get attention from their loved ones), but this is an exaggeration of what so many of us experience. That example I included? We all, to some extent, need attention. We need to have that baseline met, and when it isn't, we all have to do something to remedy that need.

I think this frame can be useful to those of us who don't have these types of mental health experiences because it reminds us that this isn't an isolated experience for people to have - that people with these conditions have real human needs. We must remember to not dehumanize the needs of these people.
