One thing that really annoys me about science in school is that it really didn't go very deep with describing ecosystems

Kansas is home to the largest stretch of tall grass Prairie in the world. I live in Kansas. Did they teach us that??? No. Did they teach us why tall grass prairies are important??? No. Did they teach us about all the different types of plants and animals that exist in tall grass prairies??? NO.

And the things they did teach us, they only ever went over in early elementary school. So even if they DID, no one could actually remember it anyway. And its not like anyone ever said "hey if youre interested in this these are the types of classes you should take in highschool" so it may have been talked about in science in highschool but if you didn't know that you should take those classes then they're not much help.

#i wanna go to the prairie park nature center but its cold #and also 3am so its closed but #itll still be cold during the day #im going there in the spring #take my camera #get some pictures of native plants #i would go sooner but walking in the cold is guaranteed to give me a migraine #also most plants are gonna be dead rn #but i could still look at all the informational signs #havent been there for real since i was a kid #did walk around there a little a few years ago cuz my cousins were visiting and wanted me to meet them there #but they wandered off before i got there and it took forever just to get ahold of them and i already had plans to meet my friends at ihop #so i walked around a bit trying to find them but ultimately gave up and left to meet my friends #and i was already stressed from driving to place id never driven by myself before AND i wasnt sure how to get to ihop from there #so it wasnt the most enjoyable experience #i can probably convince my mom or althea to go with me
