Why is Octavius not apart of the Museum of Natural History exhibits??? He's not in the first scene with everyone being shipped out, he's not with the others when Larry sees the exhibits in the cargo crate (though I'm surprised as to how he even saw Octavius then), and then he just climbs into the crate to talk to Custer about getting elephants??? What is the canon for this book then?? Do the cowboys just have a bigger Diorama? Is there still a Rome Diorama? There has to be seeing as they just take him home but what??? Is this why Jed emphasizes on calling him a friend after Oct saved his life???

Oct also never mentions that he's small, like?? I'd feel like if you were a, over 5ft person, and you randomly became like 4 inches tall you'd have questions?? It's clear he n Jed haven't met before since Jed calls him feather hat and doesn't act the same towards him as he did the first movie.. Also, how does Octavius know Jed's name?? I don't think he's ever told it with what we see in text so he probably asked someone about it.. but Oct also never left the crate after Jed did?? But he at some point goes out and saves him then admits to not wanting to come back and fail Jed??? LIke... in this content, Octavius doesn't want to fail this other miniature that he met like less than an hour ago, in which he was called a name and basically brushed off??? He also says he'd swore to help but he didn't?? he only said that he was happy to help, not swearing he would.

So he basically just brought help from Abe Lincoln with no actual reason other than to save this random miniature cowboy that he technically didn't know was in danger and technically didn't know the name of. He also battled and tamed a squirrel for this guy..

Also.. the hourglass scene.

Octavius is panicked over Jed being buried in sand (which is honestly fair, whether you do know the person or not) and the scene is just shorter?? After Jed says he's basically done for, Octavius says- "no need for final words" and breaks him out.. Jed didn't interrupt him and say anything.. Then, Jed says- "Thank you, friend" after Oct helps him.. like.. where did that 50 years of fighting go here??

But then they just take him home?? does Octavius have his own Rome Diorama at the Smithsonian institution?? does he just not remember since he woke up in a archives?? where even was he if he was seen next to Amelia and Custer's horse?? how did they manage to leave a miniature out and away from his other miniature stuff? if that's not the cause, why would they just have a single Roman miniature??

Still, once they're back at the Museum of Natural History, Oct is in Larry's pocket and 'goes back to his place' not too long after.. I'm assuming he joins the other Roman miniatures in the Rome diorama but, how would they respond to gaining a random ass general?? did the Romans fight the westerns and how they have a General?? do they accept him, throw him out? like what.. I need answers.

FFIV liveblog: okay. misconception. i thought the paladin role was the big hot shot deal within mysidia with regards to the legend but it's the sword that kluya gives cecil that really shocks the elder. okay. daddy set up giving the sword to cecil one day in the far future, after hearing the mysidia legend? did kluya give the prophecy? have an inkling of what was going to happen? someone would need it someday?

theoretically could a paladin exist without the sword? doesn't seem like it - it's what changes cecil from dark knight. fun ideas! to me anyway, because this is my hyperfocus! is paladinny-ness, which the ffiv world knows about but hasn't ever seen, about just receiving the light, being "chosen," or is it about redemption, choosing your own en-lightening? aside from cecil's situation (a bit of cheeky spiritual nepotism), if someone else could be a paladin, can they be someone who hasn't been a dark knight/spiritually ill-defined official Bad Guy? or is that redemption a key definition of "paladin?"

see, it doesn't seem important (and it really isn't) but the christian reading of FFIV would necessarily lean towards redemption being in the definition - but it also breaks down cecil's parallel as the christ-figure, because he's the sinner.

personal reason behind my obsession with time loops:

I love time loops. I fear them I hate them. and the concept of the identity loss and lack of care in a maddening dreamscape with no consequences fascinates me. I used to dream about waking up into a new dream a lot. guess the sentiment stuck. about a world where I could do anything and snap back awake... explore the dark sides of my mind with no consequences.

I guess in a way I'm reaching into those dreams again through media consumption to look at myself in a different lense. learn to love myself. life is full of repeating mistakes and forgetting only to do them again and again... but despite that? you realize that even if you still make those mistakes... you've grown. that somehow. in this loop you will somehow find yourself looking into a mirror.

it's you. all your regrets all your pride. it's always been you. and the journey? you've come so far. even the smallest step towards change... you should be proud of yourself for it.

I'm one of those people who buys every Frictional game, plays ten minutes, and then chickens out to watch a let's play but I'm always interested in the stories behind them.

Can you do the following things under the cut, and if so, what happens?

Grab Lambert's bunny, go to his locker, hold it out and wait in the dark

Hold out in the crater with the bunny

Give Lambert his bunny. I know you can throw it at him but can you hand it to him?

Go to a sentimental location and just reflect without leaving?

Just kind of chill out and wait in a non-hostile manner?

I mean it's common for early LPers to play aggressively and you're kind of supposed to, but is it worth it? It seems like a better deal to just sit and kinda pause on your last moments with your war buddy even if he's not present as he was before. I mean, okay, might get mauled in the process but that's not much worse than what's around the corner.

thinking about the idea that wolfwood just gets so devastated how vash, someone he cares about so much, could treat himself like that, and gets overwhelmed by the realisation that he can't do anything to stop him. how he loves this person but he can't do anything about it. how he loves this person and he can't do anything about it either.
