What made their deaths all the more terrifying was how elusive their killer seemed — until a sudden arrest made everything even scarier.
Sometime after midnight on November 13, four University of Idaho students — Xana Kernodle, Ethan Chapin, Madison Mogen, and Kaylee Goncalves — were all viciously attacked while sleeping in an off-campus townhouse. They were each, as eventual criminal charges would reflect, “stabbed and murdered with premeditation with malice and forethought.”
Throughout the seven tense weeks that followed, the case now known as the Idaho student murders rocked the small town of Moscow, Idaho, became a riveting true crime obsession, and sparked a global media frenzy.
But although everything that happened after their deaths would become international news, the lead-up to the quadruple homicide was completely uneventful. And so, nothing seemed to stick: There were no suspicious actions, changes, or alarming behaviors prior to the murders, and no immediate suspects, no big compelling clues, no key witnesses in the aftermath. An unknown intruder or intruders had simply entered the house, stabbed to death four of the six sleeping students inside, and then quietly slipped into the night.
Watching 20/20's coverage of the Idaho murders. Regarding the barking dog at the house, one correspondent says, "Why would a dog bark at 4:17am?" She said it with such confidence like this is the make-or-break evidence of the case. Lady, have you ever met a dog? Dogs bark at everything and also at nothing. Calm down.
There are plenty of missing person or unsolved murder cases that would benefit from the exposure TikTok is giving the Idaho murders, but that’s how you can tell that these people treat crime like a fictional television show. They don’t talk about it to get the case out there, they talk about it because it gets them followers and makes them feel special. There are true crime creators who don’t just jump on popular cases and actually work alongside families whose cases aren’t being solved or taken seriously. TikTok detectives make a mockery of true crime as a whole. Vet who you get your information from because most of these people only want the views. You can always tell between advocates and sensationalists

If one of the roommates heard the murders taking place and saw the murderer walk past her at 4:25 am, why didn't she check on her roommates or call police till 11am. How come no one on the news is talking about this??? This is incredible!
