#as much as I hate how Instagram is trying to push me content. it's interesting to play with the algorithm #it's so transparent as to what it bases its suggestions off of. kinda fun to try and fine tune it. #it feels like back when I'd mess with replika and try and foster a certain personality trait or response and train out others #if you can recognize the algorithm then you can stop getting fed mindlessly and instead use it to show you the content you want #that's the thing about algorithms. they're tools. weapons if used that way. but a tool for a purpose #so if they give you the tools to adjust the algorithm. then you can turn it to your own purposes #my biggest complaint is when they don't give you enough tools to manipulate your own algorithm #the moment you don't have the tools to adjust your own experience is the moment they start forcing content instead of letting you choose #I especially hate when it starts choosing to push content based on things I can't control #I don't care if my friend likes baby videos I don't want to see children in videos take that shit away #the amount of mommy baby videos I've had to repeatedly tell it to never show me again is awful. #I feel like I stumbled into the cult of motherhood or something #I do have the chance to hunt up more good black artists which is super cool. there's not that big of a pool here #so it's harder to find my preferences since yaknow.. limited sample size #tag talk
