No matter how many times I see this panel their wording always irks me
Tumblr media
"What you might call a hands-off parenting philosophy"
Helen from where I come from that is called child neglect, I don't know if you're intelligent enough to understand this concept but I'll leave it here in case you want to open your eyes. Otherwise look up to the sky, the sun may not blind you as much as you are right now
"Im so jealous!"
Of not being around your child? Would you rather follow their example and not be there at all? What a great way to come out as probably shitty mother Margaret
Anyway I'm not sure what type of person Melinda is yet but I sure hope Yor doesn't go to her and her friends for parenting advice. Lord helps Anya if she ever does listen to them

Despair!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She's hands-down the most overlooked sibling besides Destiny but she really shouldn't be??? Her character has such an interesting role in the comics later on that I'm so excited to see play out in the show, she's a devoted rat enthusiast and has weirdly one of the most stable and loving, if kinda codependent, family relationships in this entire bunch with her twin and their mutual admiration society. She's a terrifying force of human nature she's a sister who just wants her brother back she's everything ahh

Okay stream over and as such no one is safe anymore from my RGGJoposting (sorry in advance), HOWEVER I did want to say...
Of course Mine Himself At Present is the furthest thing from punk, but I believe the reason he has that belt is a nod to Nakamura, who is credited with bringing punk influences to the kabuki scene. (This particular photo was taken years after Y3, but...)
Tumblr media
By the way, Nakamura is how I found out there's a lot of stigma against sons of kabuki actors who choose to play roles of a different gender than their fathers. He comes from an established line of onnagata, so it was a big deal for him to choose to play male roles.
Arakawa was a taishu engeki actor rather than a kabuki actor, which is less steeped in tradition than kabuki, so I don't know if it would've been the same for him doing the opposite to Nakamura. But it's Neat to think of it as a concerted choice for him in terms of feeling that strong of a connection to femininity.
oh fuck yeah punk in the kabuki world WORD UP TO THE LEGEND.....

Jon Snow, the "recognized" stark bastard is now also a targaryen bastard and is stuck between two worlds. Whom has just been disowned by the the Targaryen family by the default head of the family who told him he can/will stay as a lesser and then burned everything.
Then they actively threatened to bring war to his sisters and homeland which is the only reason he ever met this woman in the first place was to save said sisters and the CONTINENT OF WESTROS. Which everyone seems to forget. And then we've been told countless times there is no "too far" for a stark man to go for a woman he loves platonic or romantic. With a lot of strong themes of Stark's giving up their morals to protect those they love sprinkled in the story.
Yeah killing his dragon off and back peddling his story to the beginning but softer was the weird bad writing not him stabbing someone.

So @iknowwhataradiois comes into my house, makes me like Leon x Jill (when I'm very picky about who I pair with my boys) and gives me a run for my money with every reply? The nerve, honestly.

I love how they sometimes depict Black and Brown matriarchs in tv and film. Mother, grandma, or great grandma enters the room and they’re Center Stage! With lighting and music you can feel how much history, traditions, and knowledge this woman has in her and you can see how important she is to the people around her (as well as people on set if the actress is world renowned or what have you). There’s also a hint of familial intimacy in these moments where nobody in the scene may be hugging but the whole scene feels like a hug.
Examples of this (off the top of my head) being Nani’s opening scene in episode 4 of Ms. Marvel, Michelle Yeoh in the kitchen during the party in Crazy Rich Asians, and Angela Basset greeting T’Challa in Black Panther.
Some of these examples are queens which is appropriate because that’s how I and other Black or Brown people see the maternal figures in our lives as a result of all the work they’ve put into maintaining their families and making sure they prosper. More often than not they’re doing a thankless job which is underappreciated by the people surrounding them and I love that the handful of us that recognize that effort will use the opportunity to put a (literal) spotlight on them to show how important they are.
Disclaimer: This by no means says that they’re perfect beings, completely rid of flaws, because they’re humans and the world is a mess (and I can make an entire post about how abusive motherly figures can be to their families and how that contributes to generational trauma and whatnot), but that doesn’t prevent us from being able to respect them for what their presence means for the spaces they’re in.

I will die on the hill of "the only thing traditional fairy tales teach young girls is that the only time they can be viewed as a main character in their own story is when they are the reward for a man's strength or cunning".
