"I did my best during the 4 months filming"

Lee Seung Hoon PD, the planning producer of ‘Duel’ actually has a daughter who is not healthy since birth. And Lee Jong Jae PD, who went through various scenes and entered the main production this time. The drama ended nicely with the addition of the acting capabilities of Jung Jae Young, Yang Se Jong, Kim Jeong Eun, Seo Eun Soo, Jo Soo Hyang and Yoon Kyeong Ho.

Lee Seung Ho PD: The title of our drama is not called 'Dual', but it is 'Duel'. Which means a 'confrontation'. It's not only showing the good and evil in the same person, but when these two thoughts are separated, what if there was a fight between the clones? In addition to this, is the emotions of a father who sacrifice for his terminally ill child. I think it is a work that made a good use of the title.

Lee Jong Jae PD: Duel is quite a diverse piece. Although it belongs in this genre, it also has a bold humanity aspect. This is a story about cloning and it started from the past in the 1990s. It was really a difficult work. Personally, I was already worried from the start about whether I could do a good job or not. Thanks to Lee Seung Hoon PD and the cast, the drama has wrapped up very nicely. Because it wasn't a pre-produced drama, we worked and fought hard during the 4 months of filming.

"How will Sung Joon live from now on?"

Duel ended in a half happy ending. The evil clone Sung Hoon (Yang Se Jong) took Ryu Mi Rae's bone narrows but ended up taking his own life after killing President Park Sang Young (Park Jin Il) in order to save Soo Yeon (Lee Yoon Na), Jang Deuk cheon's (Jung Jae Young) daughter.

Lee Seung Hoon PD: There were many viewers who wanted a happy ending of Sung Joon and Sung Hoon, the ending is always a pity for this genre but we did our best. I wanted an impactful way of killing Sung Hoon. From the beginning, I planned a sad ending and I also thought about the death of Jang Deuk Cheon to save his daughter. So the ending I wrote is a happy ending.

Lee Seung Ho & Lee Jong Jae PD: What will happen to Sung Joon in the future? We honestly don't expect him to find the treatment medicine and have an immortal life. We hope that the clone will ignore this aspect and become a normal person. Since he has to treat a serious illness, he won't feel guilty about his life and live happily like a normal person.

"Even though the audience rating was poor, we also gained a lot of things"

For ‘Duel’, Lee Jong Jae and Lee Seung Hoon PDs worked their best in their positions. Thanks to that, they created a fascinating excitement to follow OCN's exclusive drama line up. The drama also raised monster rookie Yang Se Jong as well as concreting Jung Jae Young's name as an actor. Because of this, the more the viewers saw, the more they want to anticipate about their next story.

Lee Jong Jae PD: Since Yang Se Jong acted in 2 roles, the filming was extremely difficult. During the last episode, it took 7 hours to film the scene of Sung Joon and Sung Hoon standing together. Three days before the filming day, I went back and forth to the emergency room to receive IV shots and tried my best to be at the filming set. I thought I should’ve done it until the end. I'm sincerely sorry about the low ratings. I thought to myself that I should've done things better, because of everyone's love for this drama.

Lee Seung Hoon PD: the problem with the ratings was regrettable but also it was a pleasure. This was a project that has been neglected a year ago and the refusal of this drama is natural because even though it is interesting to a certain extent, it differs from the mainstream style as well as OCN's genre. But it was really interesting because looking at the stable rating, I thought I had already achieved something already. Even though the rating number was quite disappointing, I want to thank the viewers who loved 'Duel'.

"Yang Se Jong's acting is very crazy and eccentric"

Yang Se Jong had to frequently change roles between Sung Joon and Sung Hoon. The combination of "Big Senior" Jung Jae Young and stable acting was not too far apart to him and he created a balance for the drama. ‘Duel’ was not a one-man show for Jung Jae Young. It was possible because these two people did 200% of their abilities.

Lee Seung Hoon PD: During the first filming day, he and Jung Jae Young came to the detention centre 3 hours ahead. They came to get a feeling of being trapped in a detention centre. He is an amazing person because at that age, he’s already put so much energy into acting. Even though he is a new actor, he plunged himself into the wall and exposed his pains.

Lee Seung Hoon PD: Yang Se Jong is a crazy name. Because of that, he’s able to succeed. From the first time I met him, I thought “He’s really an animal”. Even though he seems like a kind friend, but in order to immense himself into acting, I saw him plunging himself into the wall, it was truly eccentric (laughs). He has been transforming into many different roles to his doctor role. Because he received many compliments, I think he has become a true actor, I feel really happy. Although this wasn’t the first time I have raised an actor, but this time I won the bet. Haha.

“Yang Se Jong has really exploded thanks to Jung Jae Young”

Lee Seung Hoon PD: During the planning phase of the drama, I wanted it to revolve around the good and evil in people. However, it’s not the good and evil that exist in a person but rather, I wanted to tell the story of two separate people. What will happen if those two people bumped into each other? Yang Se Jong did a great job of showing this image. He is really a great actor. And thanks to Jung Jae Young, his hidden potential has been exposed.

Lee Jong Jae PD: Correct. Yang Se Jong’s acting is great; I think it was also possible because Jung Jae Young senior was side by side next to him him. In the second half of the drama, Jung Jae Young only taught Yang Se Jong in an extremely strict way and the result became his bones and flesh. Since he already has potential, he just needs to find stability. And he received this from Jung Jae Young. The two of them became really close with each other. From the beginning, I was really interested in Deuk Cheon and Sung Joon’s relationship.
