I still find it funny how Jalter is a servant in the new remnant game/manga (it’s not that far fetched at all since regardless of race, religion, age, and era, servants can appear in any world, and grail war despite these things and their lack of connection to said land) but I just felt it to be a little jarring to see Jalter in something completely brand new and separate outside of fgo related content is all.

Chapter 10 of Ordeal Call 2 major spoilers. Also, content warning for blood if you're squeamish.

Fujimaru comes home to find their mom (played by Da Vinci), sister (played by Da Vinci Lily), and childhood friend (played by Mash) all murdered.

As the police are called, Oruta (played by Jalter) and a teacher (played by Salieri) heard what happened and come by to check on them.

The next day Fujimaru's aunt (played by Scathach) comes over to watch over them.

Mephistopheles got a command code for the Valentine’s event in JP and I’m so excited because this means that he’s in the event.  And I’ve been reading it as it comes out, and there’s been a lot of allusion to Mephistopheles in it, and he relates super heavily to what the core themes are and I cannot stop thinking about this event and theorizing about how it’s gonna turn out. 

It’s all very weird, and almost there, and dream-like just wading at the edge of reading as the proper reality. Johanna is absolutely a person that Mephistopheles would sympathize with, and want to help in some way because she’s an entirely fictional person. And Mephistopheles cares about creations. He loves narrative servants and those created to fill a specific role. He’s friends with Nursery Rhyme and Moriarty. He helped Enkidu find their identity in their interlude. He killed Frankenstein in London and left Fran alive so she could go have an adventure with the Master. I’m sure he’d care for Johanna too. 

I think the event is a dream that Mephistopheles has made for Johanna because she wants to be a real girl, a real person, and she made a deal with the devil to grant this wish. It’s about what it means to be human, and what things are core to being real as a person, which absolutely parallels with Meph who is a homunculus who was made too human. He would know what it means to be human and want to be a real human being, since he’s an artificial being who was denied by his own creator. Not to mention that Mephistopheles controls dreams, has made micro-singularities in the past (which this event is) for other servant’s interludes, and is someone who challenges characters’ core values and morals. And everything feels just kind of off in the event, alluding to it not being how it seems. Johanna is just established to be there - no fan-fare, nothing, like it’s perfectly normal and reasonable that she’s in Chaldea providing Valentine’s blessings, even though that goes against her role in Traum. Goredolf is fully confident, he doesn’t seem to care about any holiday shenanigans, and everyone is really easily and casually ushered into what everyone thinks is going to be a very simple chill micro-singularity. 

Mash is in the event, but Mash isn’t really...getting as much of the spotlight as she usually gets. She’s only on screen for two or three dialogue boxes at most, she’s almost exclusively nudging you onto the path of the story, and she’s not getting her usual long Mash getting to say her opinion on things. Which, is how Mash acted in Mephistopheles’ interlude, where Mephistopheles made a fake Mash to keep the Master on track in his dream, and the Master didn’t notice. Which is something that is REALLY HARD to do and Mephistopheles has shown he CAN do, in the past.

Another thing - Nursery Rhyme is there! Only four servants were compatible to Rayshift: Rama, Jalter Santa Lily, Nursery Rhyme, and Johanna. Nursery Rhyme has been unphased by every weird thing to far. She’s just rolled with it a little too well, which would make sense, because Mephistopheles would need a storybook to help him write a story for Johanna.

And, there’s been a lot of Alice in Wonderland comparisons and references. And music specifically from Jeanne’s Casino in Las Vegas Summer, a place that Mephistopheles helped run, Nursery Rhyme took part in plays, and it was a casino run by a Saint who was having her time as a real girl.

The whole event is also in the perspective of a narrative, like a book, being recounted to you by Johanna with little narrative cut-ins from her at key intervals of her experiences. While there are dialogue options to choose, nothing is from their perspective. Any time we get narration, it’s from Johanna’s point of view.

Johanna also acts strangely. She knows things without evidence, and immediately pegs the grail in the basement of the Singularity’s church as evil, stops a mysterious sorcerer from wishing on it, and has her own wish prioritized over the initial wish that was going to be bad for the Human Order. A wish that Johanna claims she doesn’t even have, because she’s a Ruler and a Saint.

Then that wish caused a giant statue of her to be erected in the middle of the tiny peaceful town and now she’s beloved as Love Love Johanna-Sama!

Everyone has a little fun laugh as Johanna is in agony and embarrassment over this idea of being beloved and worshipped in such a loud and larger than life way, but I think she’s actually kind of flattered by it. She’s just grappling with this idea of only wanting what a Saint would, rather then what she actually wants. Because I think that Johanna wished to be a real girl, and to be a real girl she has to be known, and she has to be loved, and she has to accept that love. 

Love is what defines the weight of her life, and she has to accept and carry that love with her (in a little bag of luggage she’s given) in order to actually be real.  Which is what Mephistopheles is giving her, I think. He’s giving Johanna her wish of being a real girl for Valentine’s day.  TLDR: I’m pretty sure Mephistopheles has crafted an elaborate dream to grant Johanna’s wish to be a real person. Which means she has to learn what it means to be human. Love defines if you matter and are real, not the classification of reality of fiction.

Despite being a #gamer, she wouldn't play most mobile games due to them, generally speaking, having pretty unskilled gameplay (unless some piece of canon I'm not remembering smites me down.) However, given all the hyper-intense Arknights blogging I've seen, Tomoe would be entranced by crunching numbers and solving her little military puzzles with her units. Also, she'd be into catgirls, and whatever the hell the Doctor has got going on with that scientist woman who hates them.

Fusehime, Okita, Ushiwakamaru

Touken Ranbu players (the sword boy game). Ushiwakamaru nerds out about the history of the swords, Fusehime is a #collector, and Okita just likes the simple gameplay of mowing down people with her prettyboy units. Nobunaga also plays, trying to piss Okita off with her luck in forging boys, but Okita genuinely loves the low-rarity units so it's only half-way effective.

Shuten-Douji

Shuten plays a gacha game where all of the waifus are humanizations of alcohol. She's spent well over a thousand dollars trying to get Aged Red Wine, who's a milf that looks like Raikou. Don't question why.

Jalter

Plays one of the more lore-heavy gacha games. Whales for her favorites and writes intense meta posts. She's very insistent that this is just the natural course of things.

Gilles

Isn't huge into gachas generally, but he'll pick up whatever game has a Jeanne expy (or, because he considers Saber-faces to be 'Jeanne faces', Saber expies) to roll for the girl in question, max levels her, and then drops the game.

Valkyries

They play Obey Me and other Shall We Date games to debate over the best boys.

Kama

Gets invested in one hot girl in one game and her money is gone. The girl in question has glasses and a turtleneck like Medusa's casual form.

Gilgamesh

Plays gacha games with ranking and pvp elements like Epic Seven to lord his units over the plebs. Is also a pull streamer. A lot of his clips go viral, and the atmosphere of his streams are very fun.

Jalter Lily: Does tasks, is decent at being the imposter. A generalist.

Voyager: Very good at doing tasks. Hates being the imposter.

Erice: Terrible at Among Us, but wants to play to hang out with Voyager. She gets really upset about losing, though. This genuinely affects her self-confidence.

Mephistopheles: Plays with the children. Pretends to be the imposter even if he's not.

Douman: Also plays with the children. Generally pretty wretched to Meph, but is a good and fun player otherwise. Hams up being the evil villain when they're shot out of the air-lock.

You were mad about Jalter being in fsr but you’re fine with everyone else?

Yep. Jalter was mostly just because I initially was thinking about the circumstances surrounding Jeanne as an Alter in specifics. I’m OK about her now since it looks like she’s actually gonna be written in way she was initially introduced instead of as the tsundere cashgrab that she became in FGO.

And to be perfectly clear: I am Biased as Hell. I’m the li shuwen person, I love this guy. He’s my favorite character and one of the first Servants I lvl. 100 /10/10/10’d in fate. His lancer self is 102 and I’m grinding to get him to 120 one day. I’m biased. I also adore Circe and to round it out, I’m not Jalter’s biggest fan.

But outside of my personal bias, this will be Circe’s FIRST appearance outside of GO on mobile but in a different way than Jalter. Yes this is also the case for Jalter but in terms of content appearance in GO? Jalter is a special summon, had two singularities where she was a prominent figure, multiple events where she’s a major player (summer, CBD, etc), and makes token appearances in other events along with getting a costume change and a Jancer Lily ver (technically they’re both Jalter). Circe has had one singularity and one event where she’s a prominent figure and only shown up with minor appearances in a handful of other events. Circe is not as popular as Jalter, that’s a fact.

Similarly to Circe, Li Shuwen is not as popular. While he has a stronger stake than Circe by virtue of having a younger form and thus having appearances both young and old in multiple fate instances, his popularity is not as high as Cu, Gil, Arjuna, and so on. To the point of the fact that there was a joke for a while in JP about li shuwen being called ShuWho? Since he has a trend of kinda just showing up and disappearing. He’s not as popular, that’s a fact. He’s gaining popularity because of Redline but ultimately he’s probably the least popular of the Redline bunch in FGO with Nobu and Okita taking the top spots ofc.

To see a less popular duo of characters (Circe and Li) appear alongside of major flagship characters like Cu and Jalter is PHENOMENAL to me.

Also, the situation around li shuwen is FUNNY as fuck and mirrors his redline/KA appearance in a way. In RL/KA, he shows up roughly ten ish years after he was killed, he’s KNOWN and recognized still. Here he’s 200 years in the PAST. It’s funny as fuck.

Also, Cu and Gil I expected to see, or at least, I expected to see a FSN/FZ rep, and Gil isn’t even a servant servant as of now, only Cu is and Arjuna is cool and i have no qualms about him.

Tamamo Baby ver, and the mystery Saber and Berserker idk much about so it’s fine. I expected to see some sort of Tamamo anyways.

TLDR:

I’m biased, and I was wary about the pandering surrounding Jalter. As of now though I’ve accepted it and moved on. Circe and Li being in fsr is just amazing to me though.

To translate it into English, she is asking for six all beef patties with everything on toasted buns, four times over, cooked in mustard, pickles and grilled onions, with extra toast, jelly on said toast, toast lightly buttered, burgers done well, extra onions, extra sauce and a glass of orange juice on the side.

In other words, 24 all beef patties cooked well with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, dressing, served on 16 slices of buttered and jellied toast, with OJ on the side.
