Hedy Lamarr (Samson and Delilah, Ziegfeld Girl)—Look. I'm sure someone has already submitted Hedy Lamarr because she was spectacularly beautiful, and a very strong lady too: she fled both an abusive marriage AND nazi persecution at a very young age and rebuilt a life for herself pursuing her love for acting all on her own!! Her career as an actress was stellar; while she began acting outside of Hollywood (her very first movie, Ecstasy, won a prize at the Venice Film Festival), she conquered American hearts very quickly with her first movie in the US, Algiers, and then just kept getting better and better. If all this isn't enough, she was also an inventor: her invention of the frequency-hopping spread spectrum radio transmission technique forms the base of bluetooth and has a lot of applications in all kinds of communication technologies. I think that deserves a prize, don't you?
Gina Lollobrigida (Solomon and Sheba, The Hunchback of Notre Dame)— One of the highest profile movie stars in Europe across the 50s and 60s. International sex symbol. Starring in European and American movies. She appeared in movies alongside Hollywood stars such as Humphrey Bogart and Rock Hudson. Was in 54 movies by 1970. A MOVIE STAR in every essence. Has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Won three David di Donatello, a Golden Globe two Nastro d'Argento, and six Bambi awards. And nominated for more.
This is round 4 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Hedy Lamarr:
Tumblr media
The only person you can find both on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and in the Inventor's Hall of Fame--her radio-frequency-hopping technology forms the basis for cordless phones, wi-fi, and a dozen other aspects of modern life. She was also passionate in her efforts to aid the Allies in WWII (unsurprising for a Jewish-Austrian Emigree to America), and her name served as the backbone for one of the best running jokes in what is possibly Mel Brooks' best movie. Look, Louis B. Mayer apparently believed he could plausibly promote her as "The world's most beautiful woman". Is an entire website full of people going to be less audacious than one Louis B. Mayer? I didn't think so!
Tumblr media
Described as "Hedy has the most incredible personal sophistication. She knows the peculiarly European art of being womanly; she knows what men want in a beautiful woman, what attracts them, and she forces herself to be these things. She has magnetism with warmth, something that neither Dietrich nor Garbo has managed to achieve" by Howard Sharpe, she managed to escape her controlling husband (and Nazi Germany) by a) Disguising as her maid and fleeing to Paris or b) Convincing the husband to let her wear all of her jewelry to a dinner, only to disappear afterwards. Also she was particularly clever and helped develop Frequency-Hopping Spread Spectrum (I can't really explain it but anyway...)
Tumblr media
Her depiction of Delilah and Samson and Delilah just lives rent free in my head. The woman was gorgeous.
Tumblr media
One of the most beautiful women ever in film, spoken by many critics and fans. Beautiful shapely figure, deeper seductive voice, and often played femme fatale roles. She was also brilliant and an inventor. Mainly self-taught, she invested her spare time, including on set between takes, in designing and drafting inventions, which included an improved traffic stoplight and a tablet that would dissolve in water to create a flavored carbonated drink, and much more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gorgeous and brilliant pioneer of modern technology and the middle part.
Tumblr media
Gina Lollobrigida:
Tumblr media
She was an international sex symbol once dubbed as The Most Beautiful Woman In The World. She acted in films in both Italy and France before starring in Beat The Devil with Humphrey Bogart. When portraying soprano Lina Cavalieri, she sang all of the songs in her own voice. This role won her the very first David di Donatello Award for Best Actress, Italy's academy awards.
Tumblr media
She was one of the highest-profile European actresses of the 1950s and 1960s, a period in which she was an international sex symbol. Humphrey Bogart once said of her: "She makes Marilyn Monroe look like Shirley Temple."
Tumblr media
Literally starred in a movie called "The Most Beautiful Woman in the World". I rest my case.

While I agree that Israel has made it nearly impossible for any Palestinian political movement to actually engage with them in good faith to find a peaceful solution (or even a peaceful pathway to a solution) a lot of people seem to have run with that to “Hamas had no choice but to attack with such savagery!!!!” And 1) if you actually look at Hamas’ track record over the past 20 years or so it’s a whole lot of “well I’ve tried nothing and I’m all out of ideas” (tbh Hamas has tried one or two violent, terrible ideas that didn’t work out, but same diff) and 2) “well they hurt me so I’ll hurt them” is the morality of a five year old
You never see Tibetans or Uighurs massacring hundreds of teenagers at a rock concert in China then packing the women onto rape trucks. Yezidis do not send suicide bombers into Arab old age homes on major holidays to kill off 3 generations of families. There is no way to view this topic without confronting the specifically anti-Jewish chauvinism, supremacism, and genocidalism that has been the norm in Arab and Muslim societies for a millennium or more. The entire "well, what do you EXPECT Palestinians to do??!" frame is pure colonialism. It says only Palestinians know how to have problems, only their tactics count, and anyone who doesn't bomb school buses either doesn't have problems or is doing it wrong.

I've debated whether I should make this post, but here it goes:
A few weeks back, I reported several openly f4scist and neo-n4zi blogs and to my surprise, some of them actually got nuked by Tumblr. Unfortunately, a few are still up and running. I don't want anyone following this blog to interact with these losers, so I'll just discuss the kind of content I saw being posted:
Incredibly disgusting racist and antisemitic cartoon illustrations,
Lots of pictures of their favorite führer smiling, hugging kids, etc.,
Greco-Roman statues. So. Many. Greco. Roman. Statues,
Pictures of Swiss milk maid looking girls with text on top that said things like "I only want to live around white people!" and "Make beautiful white babies",
Pictures of physically attractive white women wearing or standing next to f4scist symbols,
The most batshit insane conspiracy theories, including one guy who sincerely thought the earth was flat,
All these posts about European identity and unity, which is so beyond fucking stupid because it actually erases cultural individualism more than immigrants and refugees ever could (and they actually don't want to!),
Christian Identity hogwash, ie f4scists who think white Europeans are the "real" Israelites, which once again is so fucking stupid because the historical Jesus of Nazareth was a brown-skinned Palestinian Jew,
An extreme dislike of Ben Shapiro - not because of his right-wing propaganda, mind you - but solely because he's Jewish,
Rock Against C0mmunism sk1nh3ads who've been listening to the same shitty bands for 30 years,
NSBM musicians posting their asinine Third R31ch worship jams ("Empire of a Thousand Years" and yet your shit got wrecked in less than twelve years 🤡),
Some sad female f4scists who seriously try to argue that women were treated better under f4scistic regimes, and
Fundamentally unfunny "humor" via stale Pepe memes .
Overall, it's a bunch of sad, pitiful goobers who probably want to blame their shortcomings in life on anybody but themselves.
Many years ago, there was a popular "aesthetic" blogger here who was an open neo-n4zi, and when I made a post about the kind of horrible shit he was posting (with screenshots ), I got anon messages from his pathetic fangirls saying "I hope you get r4ped by N-words". I traced their IP addresses and one of them lived in the Nashville area. All I could do was tell them to go fuck themselves and block them.
Now we have so-called Leftists on Tumblr trying to claim certain noise/industrial bloggers here are "crypto-f4sh" just to ruin reputations while ACTUAL f4scist pieces of shit on this site get ignored. Fuck those kinds of virtue signalers, too. Get your hands dirty and look for the actual n4zi scum on this website and report them instead of harassing people who aren't awful.

Pigs off Campus!
(College Revolt is Back in Style.)
Stephen Jay Morris
4/23/2024
©Scientific Morality
Here is a nifty little analogy:  suppose your dad gave money to your uncle to buy a gun so that he could shoot his ex-wife? Would your dad be guilty of murder?  Kind of.  He would be an accessory to murder. Suppose your country gave weapons to another country to commit genocide? Would it be guilty of genocide? Sort of, as they would be an accessory to a war crime. So, is it justifiable for Americans to protest Israel’s genocide against Palestinians? Hell, yeah! Not only is it justified, but it is also warranted.
Now I am going to play a game of comparative history. The Chuds have been whining and bitching about how college professors are brainwashing their precious White children with leftist propaganda. Back in 1968, most universities were run by Right wing, WASP men in suits and ties. College professors were either moderates or conservative. Only the Arts departments were managed by liberals and Beatniks. Baby Boomers were never brainwashed by college professors. They were autodidactic and hungry for the truth. Some joined the “Ban the Bomb” movement and later, the Civil Rights movement.
The urgency of the war at hand got ahold of Boomers. Many Vietnamese women and children along with American soldiers were dying by the hundreds, as was reported on the nightly news. A minority of Boomers felt helpless and wanted to stop the killing. So, they resorted to protests and strikes on university campuses. These acts were coordinated by two major student groups: the Black Student Union and Students for a Democratic Society, other wise known as SDS. I joined SDS in 1969. The only communication avenues we had at the time were printed fliers, underground newspapers, and FM rock stations. Oh, and let’s not forget the telephone. The FBI loved tapping them. If we’d had the technology Zoomers have today, we would have stopped the Vietnam War in 1967.
In 1968, the anti-war movement went international, from Europe to Africa to South America. Most of the world was opposed to the Vietnam War.
So, is this latest movement against Likud Party’s genocide on the Palestinian people a new Anti-War movement? As sure as the Earth is round! Now all this of this carping about Anti-Semitism is no different than when the New Left was accused of being Anti-American. Neither is true! There is a Jewish sect called, “Keturei Karta,” who believe that there can be no Israel until the Messiah comes. Many Jews do not accept Jesus as the Jewish messiah. Now, let me ask you. Is this orthodox sect antisemitic or just comprised of your average self-hating Jews? Shit no dumbass!
In 1968, we waved Vietcong flags and were accused of being communists. It was all done in the name of solidarity. Now the Palestinian flag is waved. Nothing has changed. We did have contingencies of Tankies, and other types of communist groups, who marched with us and chanted slogans that didn’t reflect the true sentiment of the movement’s coalition. Here are a couple I remember: “America must die! Let the red flag fly!”  and “Get a clue! Fuck the red, white, and blue!” There were other silly ones I’ve long since forgotten.
Now you have Islamic nationalist groups doing the same thing. The Chants of “Death to America” come from small, Muslim, theocratic groups who are not affiliated with the Anti-authoritarian Left. Due to rumors and erroneous propaganda, the Left, as a rule, do not support Islam. Why? Well, because many of them does not support organized religion! Second, Islam, like Christianity and Judaism, are sexist religions.
It was the Battle of Seatle, in 1999, that gave me hope. Then came the occupation movement of 2011, and now, this anti-war movement of 2024. If they can pull this off, the movement’s young people can stop this so-called war in the Middle East. As for the young people in Israel, will they rise up and stop Likud Party? That remains to be seen.

tuesday again 2/27/2024
this is the longest ive ever been unemployed and media is only doing so much to beat back the horrors. so let’s talk about the media instead of the horrors
listening
Come Up For Air by We The Commas, off i think one of the autogenerated spotify indie mixes?
youtube
sort of a rollicking modern little surf rock thing, they describe themselves as "surf and alternate rhythm and blue" which is pretty bang on imo. they're all brothers (their last name genuinely is Comma, which i salute as a fellow weird last name haver), and cite john mayer (i don't really hear it) and the beach boys (yes i hear this very much) as some of their influences. a song i had on loop for an entire forty minute drive and did not get tired of. spotify
-
reading
Tumblr media
three books that MUST go back to the library tomorrow bc their autorenew is up and i was emotionally unable to get a library card without tooling around and getting a stack of books a month ago.
Tumblr media
thank you philip.
i really only liked the Carmilla adaptation by Amy Chu, bc it really gets at what i didn't realize was the heart of the original 1872 lesbian vampire novella: a toxic gay housing situation you have fallen into and can't get out of bc your area is so so so expensive and housing is so so so tenuous. i have read the original but not in a while, this is an excellent modern adaptation centering around a nyc social worker in the late seventies that presupposes no knowledge and intertwines the original novella in the form of a stolen rare book. (nonconsecutive pages)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i don't have much to say about the DC young adult comic about the circus career of one of the Robins (Dick Grayson). i didn't love the loose artstyle and am not in its intended age range plus it had a bit too much therapyspeak, but it did have a clever use of a very limited color palette.
let's yank the amazon description for the detective novel, which i grabbed bc it vaguely pinged something in my brain about one of the fallout 4 sidequests and i've picked books up for worse reasons (SPOILERS):
Jacob Rigolet, a soon-to-be former assistant to a wealthy art collector, looks up from his seat at an auction—his mother, former head librarian at the Halifax Free Library, is walking almost casually up the aisle. Before a stunned audience, she flings an open jar of black ink at master photographer Robert Capa’s “Death on a Leipzig Balcony.” Jacob’s police detective fiancée, Martha Crauchet, is assigned to the ensuing interrogation.
i simply fucking hated this authorial style and tone and ditched it two chapters in. i don’t currently have the patience for reading about a clinically insane mother and hate crimes against Jewish people. despite the fairly dark premise, the first two chapters veer into cozy mystery with very short sentences, which do not a noir make. now, it does not advertise itself as noir or neo-noir, but as an homage to noir. it is for me unbearably smug. in my most unkind heart of hearts i want to say it's like if wes anderson tried to make a noir. this is a book that wants you to know it has read other noirs. yes thank you ive read several others, that’s why im reading this one, stop reminding me of better books i could be reading.
there's some weird descriptions of womens' bodies in here. chandler (my beloved) is certainly guilty of this as well, but he lavishes a sort of equal opportunity eye on the men in his mysteries. cf the infamous daniel lavery description.
Tumblr media
when i read a chandler description of someone’s physical appearance there’s a fruity bisexual aftertaste in my mouth. Howard Norman, below, saying a woman takes great care of herself puts my hackles up. i understand the difference between an author and a character believing something and i don’t want to read a book where either the author or the character have this sort of pitying condescension towards a woman’s body. im feeling extremely terrible about my own body right now due to the various maladies, and another sort of breaking point for me is when an author repeatedly describes "naked breasts" (exact wording) pressing against someone's torso. it feels so juvenile. that's the sexiest thing you can possibly think of??? that's the sexiest way you can think of to describe an early mornign moment of intimacy???? augh i read the NYT review and it gets worse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
shut the FUCK up. i left my apartment at 1130 PM to go put this book in my CAR. i don't want it in my HOUSE.
-
watching
Tumblr media
Bullitt (1968, dir. Yates, free on Tubi). the baddie in this is Robert Vaughn (who i know from cowboys), a guy i fucking love to see. i can take or leave Steve McQueen but he does such a killer job parallel parking in this movie and i wish all driving movies made their leads parallel park. shockingly realistic hospital, morgue, and police work scenes, apparently was one of the big films to popularize blood squibs. also love to see a haunted man splash water on his face and stare into a mirror.
youtube
if you asked me how long the famous car chase was i would have said like 2:30? substantial but snappy. no!!! eleven minutes!! (video a bit trimmed). also a rare movie that makes a foot chase through an airport as exciting as that eleven minute car chase!!!
the mob dodging plot was a little hard to follow, but i was operating on like four hours of sleep and a rum and coke. this has got to be a tremendous movie to watch when you’re home and sick on the couch huddled under a blanket. i mean this as a compliment, as someone who watches Escape from New York whenever i feel very sick
-
playing
Tumblr media
really wanted to get to 69 shrines before writing this post and finally did it. all the little divine beasts walking along the loading screen are SO cute i've never gotten all four before
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
all the divine beasts are unlocked and the champions laid to rest! im feeling some type of way emotionally speaking about all of them telling link IMMEDIATELY that it wasn't his or zelda's fault they died
Tumblr media Tumblr media
rudania has the worst boarding mission (in order of ones i most enjoyed it's camel [SO fast and SO fun], bird [lots of time to think and plan and aim], elephant [did not make me do a tedious stealth mission but i am bad at locking on to rapidly moving things behind me, much like in real life], and lizard. the lizard stealth mission is simply unpleasant). however, my brain really clicked with the puzzles in rudania: i had to consult a walkthrough once for an optional chest. in order of interior beast puzzle enjoyment for me it's lizard, bird, elephant, and camel. really got stuck for a long time on the waterwheels with the elephant before consulting a walkthrough.
Tumblr media
the yiga clan stealth mission was not as hard as i thought it would be. i don't know why i put that off for two real life weeks but i will not learn my lesson and i will never improve. this boss battle was just silly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the vah naboris interior puzzles were not fun. idk what it was about them or my brain that made me have such a bad time, but i spammed revali's gale and skipped a lot of chests bc i was not having fun. this is why god invented the walkthrough but sometimes. shit is just too fiddly.
i did succeed on the thunder ganon boss battle first try, but i came in with extra hearts from mipha's grace, used another mipha's grace in the fight, went through five fairies and seven hearty simmered fruits that were 5x durians (which gives you 20 extra hearts or some shit). fucking nightmare. i was stuck on one hit left on ganon for like five minutes bc he got stuck in the very fast flurry attack cycle. unpleasant. deeply grateful it only made me smack him with the magnesis pillar once bc that was also really fiddly with my poor reaction time + poor fine motor skills + previously mentioned ancient controller with some drift. in order of boss battle enjoyment i think it's lizard (made me think and kept me on my toes a little but i did have to look up how to break the shield), elephant (you can just kind of tank it), bird (same), and camel (extremely not fun).
Tumblr media
this was WITH a fully upgraded gimp suit btw. that shit (ganon) just hits hard.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
shrine shenanigans:
crowned beast very fun, i have one or two of kass' songs left and then i hope i get to see him back in rito village with his family??? a little nervous bc i went right to the jungle spring without hearing his song first so idk if that will. count??? or softlock me.
the MOUNDS of failed cooking attempts around this shrine on the grasslands side of the gerudo barrier mountains were SO funny.
unlocked all the spring shrines. what a fun mission. what a fun climb.
went to my FAVORITE shrine!!! going into what you think will be a normal cave and discovering it is DEEP with a BIG WHALE INSIDE is top three video game whale moments (the other two are diving with the whales in ABZU and meeting the last whale in the first dishonored).
other bits and bobs:
Tumblr media
eggman rocks???
Tumblr media
this quest was really cute and i wish there was a corresponding quest for the guy hanging around the broken heart pond, but it always makes me laugh whenever a dragon shows up in the background of a screenshot. a really great touching moment but watch out for the elemental orbs rapidly approaching us
Tumblr media
also made me chortle. get it together barta.
Tumblr media
i wish the helm was upgradable but i think making me kill a molduga in order to borrow it is a pretty fair trade actually.

i originally had a really long thing here about litterbox trials and tribulations but i have decided to spare you all. you're welcome.
many balcony improvements, including putting up trellises and installing bird spikes to hopefully keep a very persistent orange tom off my balcony and away from my girls.
there are a goofy number of obstacles in the way of me making a proper planting diagram (sketchbooks buried deep in closet. flung the seeds in a box on a shelf i need to find my stepstool for. can't find pencil sharpener) so for the second week in a row that's not happening. however, sprouts.

Bea Arthur Vs. Bea Benaderet
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda
Bea Arthur - (Golden Girls, Maude) - Okay okay where do I even start!! Bea Arthur is incredibly attractive. She has a SUPER deep voice (stunning), a sort of regal, statuesque way of moving and talking, and she can kill you with a single piercing look. Like seriously. Her Looks have become a thing in both shows she plays a lead character in. Did I mention: TWO characters were *written for her*!! When she did Maude in 1972, she'd appeared on All in the Family as a side character and the people there loved her so much they went "this woman needs her own TV show". SO THEY WROTE IT. And made 6 seasons of it. That's how good she is. When the pilot for The Golden Girls was written, creator Susan Harris described the part that Bea would end up playing as a "Bea Arthur type" before they'd even cast her in the role. She was Jewish, she served as a typist and truck driver in the marines during WWII, she had a whole career off and on Broadway behind her by the time she started her career in television, and she was an ally to the gay community — there's even a shelter for homeless queer youth named after her. And did I mention her voice?? Because she can sing too!
Bea Benaderet - (The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show, Petticoat Junction, The Beverly Hillbillies) - she's so good in everything she's in. she was also a voice actress and did betty rubble in the flintstones and a lot of looney tunes!
Master Poll List of the Hot Vintage TV Ladies Bracket
Additional propaganda below the cut
Bea Arthur:
She was just so funny and compelling onscreen. She had great timing. And she was beautiful no matter what age and she was an incredibly LGBT+ ally.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think it's a very common experience to start watching The Golden Girls and immediately develop a crush on Dorothy Zbornak - and it's not a coincidence. Between her statuesque figure, her regal poise, her sharp wit and her wonderful, deep voice, Bea Arthur brings so much to the table that it's impossible not to be head-over-heels in love with her from the very first moment she appears on screen. Career-wise, she's a legend of the small screen; she received the third most Emmy nominations for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (an incredible 9!). Her guest appearance as Maude in All in the Family impressed both the public and the executives so much that they made a spin-off series *especially for her*. She led Maude - the sitcom - for six incredible seasons to critical and public acclaim, and this would already be enough to nominate her among the greats, but then - as the true queen she was - she went on to star into *another* legendary show, The Golden Girls, as *another* legendary character, Dorothy, and won another Emmy (as well as several nominations) for it, just because she could. As for her private life, she was known as a private, introverted person, who loved the simple things in life; all her fellow TV stars (including Angela Lansbury, who was a dear friend of hers) recall her as a kind, decent person and a wonderful professional, with impeccable work ethic and truly immaculate comedic timing. We do not support the military complex here, but we do support girlbosses winning, so let me just mention that she was one of the first women (ever!) to join the US marines; she was also a licensed medical technician. All in all - a legendary lady who definitely deserves your vote!
how many people can dress up as the Statue of Liberty and look this good?

fics and posts of note!
if yellowjackets enthusiast is my second job (it is) then, within that, fic writing is my day job and tumblr rambling is my moonlighting, so here's easy access to my fics and to my more involved posts!
current status: I’ve had a long, rough hiatus from writing but I think I’m back! With bee charmer complete (yay!) I plan on finishing abmb then focusing on other things! I have to read abmb so it might be a bit of a wait still, but it’s in progress now and I’m excited to be back in it <3 —2/5
likely order of updates: abmb, resurrection —2/5
multichapter fics

All the living yellowjackets are forced together when someone decides to unearth their past. Tensions rise, past relationships are revealed, and new ones are forged in a reunion that no one asked for (except maybe Misty).

A series of moments based pre, during, and post 1996 canon, centered around Jackie and Shauna, accounting for the huge, rippling impact of one small change: the Holmdel bust goes differently. Shauna ends up walking home with Jackie instead of Jeff.

jackieshauna centric, taivan background, lottienat background
novella length / wip / set in 2006-2007, they are 19 / shauna and jackie pov
They've been at college for an entire semester, and Shauna is really fucking sick of the Jackie-Jeff rollercoaster. So, when Jeff dumps Jackie right before winter break, Shauna decides she's willing to do pretty much anything to keep them broken up. Jackie just wants to feel wanted, so what harm can a few messages from a new account really do?

not the og anon who said put up or shut up but this may be what they're referring to: https://www.tumblr.com/spartanlocke/743188149900050432/photomatt-following-an-open-zionist-just-because
1: I am not friends with him nor do I follow him because he is a minor and I don't deliberately interact with minors unless they interact with me, at that point I only interact in public where everyone can see, because I'm also an at-risk demographic of false reports and I'm not about that life
2: he is the minor he's saying she sexually harassed. A scroll thru his blog reveals this. It is not hard to find. He is saying that she was in on the "hope you get impregnated with girlcock" rape anon that went around. He has not yet provided proof for this, personally I only saw trans mascs being shitheads to other trans mascs about it, at which point we (outsiders to whatever happened between them) are stuck between a rock (believe victims) and a hard place (trans women are disproportionately falsely reported for sexual misconduct).
3: the last time I scrolled thru his blog to verify claims, I saw posts from him saying that despite this he did not want her to be banned and does believe the ban was influenced by transmisogyny.
4: he also wasn't happy that the CEO is following him- also like. While I am among the people who only follow those I actively seek out and talk to, mutuals who have never said a single word to each other exist, meaning that them being mutuals is not proof of friendship.
5: Jewish people including recent converts pointing out antisemitism within a movement are not Zionists. A quick scroll of his blog reveals that he stands with Palestine, just doesn't like antisemitism. Which is fair considering he is Jewish.
6: he's pretty much constantly harassed by TERFs and TEHMs so I wouldn't call that proof of teaming up with anyone tbh
Bad example, try again.

Cecilia Pantoja or Cecilia la Incomparable was a Chilean Tango Rock Jewish musician and one of the earliest and pioneer women rockers from the 60s.
Cecilia broke out as a soloist in the full glory of the New Wave, rising towards the mid-1960s as the biggest youth star of the time, although her style and repertoire did not fully respond to the mold of the movement. Cecilia acquired her own personality with a diverse catalog of songs ascribed to the Latin and European musical tradition.
has won one President of the Republic National Music Award in 2019, and has been dubbed "Queen of the gays and ladies of the night". Her most famous songs are "Baño de mar a medianoche", "Pure de papas" and "Aleluya"
-------------------------------------------- Raul Seixas was a Brazilian Baião Rock singer and composer, pioneer of Brazilian rock as he started his rock career in 1963. For this reason he is known in Brazil as the father of Brazilian rock and roll.
He was also a musical producer for CBS, Raul was a massive skeptic, deeply into agnosticism and philosophy (Metaphysics and Ontology) which is found in his a lot in his works
His most famous songs are "Metamorfose Ambulante", "Gita" and "Eu Nasci Há Dez Mil Anos Atrás" propaganda below;

You Don’t Care About Palestine and I Can Prove It (pt 2)
“Ahah! Mask off Zionist moment!” “Secret conservative!” “You admit that you just don’t care if Palestinians die!”
Got that out of your system? Good. Because my hatred for the modern left is only out done by my hatred of the modern right.
I care a great deal more than you probably do about dead Palestinians and that’s exactly what I’m here to prove. That all the people shouting “Zionist scum” aren’t the heroes they think they are. I don’t justify the actions of Israel’s government but we’ll get to that when I’m done explaining how stupid you are.
In part one I explored how the modern western left is completely ignorant on the complexities of one of the most complicated geo political issues of our time.
Now let’s talk about how they just don’t even understand conflict. Or war. Or militaries. Or propaganda.
On Oct 7th 2023 Hamas terrorists attacked, raped, and killed in excess of 1200 civilians. That happened. They took civilian hostages.
No government on EARTH would allow itself to be attacked and not retaliate. No government on EARTH wouldn’t demand hostages back. No military on EARTH would allow ceasefire before it had them back. Any of you old enough to recall 9/11 should damn well know that.
Guess what kiddos? War is hell. When war happens when armed conflict begins civilians always die. Often in great numbers.
Do you think Allied bombs in WWII had special civilian avoiding technology? Do you think the “rape of Berlin” is a quirky name? Do you think our drone strikes care if they hit a school?
“Well it SHOULDNT be okay!” I hear you yell.
Excellent! Fantastic! I couldn’t agree more! War is bad. It is started by violent men far away from the fighting and enacted on the bodies of women and children and the boys we send to tear each other apart.
Now that we agree civilian casualties are bad and war is also bad I have two questions.
1) please present your plan for a peaceful alternative to war that doesn’t result in the peaceful nation state being instantly annihilated by less peaceful states and submit it to get your Nobel Peace Prize
2) ask yourself why the first time you’ve ever cared even a tiny bit about the consequences of terrorism and war is when it involves the worlds only Jewish country?
Because if what bothered you was civilian casualties you’d be equally appalled at Hamas. If dead babies made you sad you’d post more than incidentally about all the deaths caused by your own western countries.
“What Israel is doing is wrong!”
YES.
War is terrible. It is awful and I don’t condone it. Every military on earth exists to kill and destroy. Every military since our ancestors learned to hit each other with sharp rocks has existed to kill babies and set homes on fire and rape and pillage. They do it while laughing.
But you didn’t care before Jews did it back.
You want ethical war like you want ethical porn and ethical meat. You want something that only exists as horrible and exploitative made palatable to your sensibilities.
You want a ceasefire but have no plans for how to get back hostages. You want to dismantle Israel but you don’t know how to do it or what the consequences would be.
You know about nothing and care about nothing until it is trendy. Then you swap out your Ukrainian flags for Palestinian flags and buy pride flags made in sweat shops. And when the dopamine hits stop and Palestine needs to rebuild? When the ceasefire comes and the hard work starts you will lose interest like you always do.

Thursday Thoughts: Israel Story
“I honestly think that it’s adorable that you actually believe these children’s stories. But there is nothing magic about the waters.”
“Without the Creed, what are we? What do we stand for? Our people are scattered like stars in the galaxy. The Creed is how we survived.”
-Bo-Katan Kryze and Din Djarin, The Mandalorian Chapter 18: The Mines of Mandalore
When I was thirteen, my grandparents took the family on a big anniversary trip to Israel.
As a Jewish American kid in the early 2000s, growing up where there weren’t a lot of other Jews and spending my summers at Reform Jewish summer camp, I was told a lot of things about Israel. The big thing was always that Israel was important – that it was our home. That I should go there, and that when I went there, I would have an amazing feeling of connection, and I would know that it was my home.
So, as a recent bat mitzvah, I was excited about this trip. I was ready to go to Israel and have my big moment of feeling connected with the world.
I remember standing in the airport in Tel Aviv, minutes after stepping off the plane, and asking my dad, “When does it start to feel like Israel?”
Because it didn’t feel like Israel. It felt like an airport.
And then we stepped out into Tel Aviv, and rode around on a bus, and it felt like a city. I’d been to cities before. It was cool to see the street signs and graffiti were in Hebrew and Arabic just as much as they were in English, but it was a city.
Over the course of our trip, we went everywhere we could possibly go. We floated in the Dead Sea. We climbed Mount Masada. We saw the archaeological sites at Megiddo. We went to Caesarea, and Ein Gedi, and Yad Vashem, and Tzfat. We rode camels, we ate falafel, we learned just how unbreakable Druze glass is.
And, again, it was cool. I enjoyed the trip. It was beautiful everywhere we went, and we were surrounded by history everywhere we went. I remember thinking that the dust of history was gathering in my boots, because this is a place where people have lived for as long as there have been people.
But I kept waiting for it to feel like Israel – to have that big magical moment of connection that everyone said I would have – and it just wasn’t happening.
Then, we went to Jerusalem. And I thought, “Okay, here it is. This is where I’m going to have my big moment.” We went to the Western Wall, the last remaining piece of the platform that surrounded the ancient temple, the holiest place any Jew could visit in the world. I saw people there, pressed against the wall, eyes shut, in fervent prayer, clearly feeling something amazing. I walked up through the crowd in the small women’s section of the wall. I found enough space to reach forward, and I put my hand on the wall.
It felt like rock.
I remember thinking, “What is wrong with me, that all I feel is rock? Where is the connection I’m supposed to feel?”
And then, on our last day of the trip, we went to the Diaspora Museum (Beit Hatfutsot, now called the Museum of the Jewish People). It’s all about the Jewish people – our exile from that part of the world, and all our journeys since then. I’d never seen such a comprehensive look at the diversity and history of Judaism before. I’d certainly never been to a museum before that provided such an honest critique of the United States – it’s where I first learned about the SS St. Louis.
There was one room in the museum that caught my attention. I don’t know if it was a permanent installment or a temporary exhibit; I haven’t been back there since. In the room, there was a screen on the wall, rotating through pictures in a slideshow. Some of them were drawings, while others were photographs. All of the pictures were of the insides of people’s houses – their kitchens and dining rooms. Each picture was labeled with a place and a time. This was Poland, this was Spain. This was the fifteenth, eighteenth, twentieth century.
These pictures were from all across the world and all across history. And, in every picture, three items were circled in red: the challah loaf, the kiddush cup, and the Shabbat candlesticks.
As I stood there, watching these pictures, it hit me – slowly, and then all at once – that I had those things in my house. I was connected to every single place, and every single time, all across the world, all across history.
That was it. That was my moment, the completely mind-blowing and earth-shattering realization. That connection through tradition – that’s what it meant to be a Jew. I felt then a supreme sense of belonging, of being grounded, of being a part of something so much bigger than myself – something that mattered, something that was made of love, something that could never die. That realization has stuck with me ever since.
I told this story on TikTok on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Chapter 18 of The Mandalorian aired, and I marveled at the serendipity. I’ve talked here before about the connections I’ve noticed between the Mandalorians as depicted in this series and Judaism. We too were scattered. Our holy sites were destroyed. We are diverse, and disparate, and faced with the question of what to do now, in a world that hates us, hurts us, and demands that we too become hateful and hurtful. And we are united – we are grounded – we are able to survive because of the stories, the traditions, the rituals at the heart of our people.

My goal for 2024 is for 40% of my reads to be nonfiction. I've had two years within the recent past where I managed 20% of my reads to be nonfiction, so I'm aiming to double that. THIS WILL BE HARD FOR ME! Not because I don't enjoy nonfiction but because I enjoy fiction a lot more and have a lot more practice reading it. Haha Also for me, I am in circles where I'm just going to have more awareness of fictional books that I'm likely to enjoy more so than nonfiction. I'm kind of hoping that this years journey will change that a bit too!
Okay, below the cut I'm putting the nonfiction books on my tbr, most of which I have the lovely people of Tumblr to thank for the recommendations!
1968: The Year that Rocked the World
The Age of Wood; Our Most Useful Material...
The Assassination of Fred Hampton

I will actually add to this list as I get more recs and whatnot. And I still have some coming which I ordered from Thriftbooks. Once those are here, I'll add those. I'm a little sad there aren't more memoirs, but there's plenty of time for that yet! This is already 37 books, and given lately I've been reading about 70 (nonfiction may slow me down tho), these should give me plenty of ability to reach my 40% goal. Now it's just a matter of if I do it XD

Hi angel ! I wanna talk to someone about this couse i find it facinating ! Did you see that Russell Brand after decades of braging about been free spirited n shit , the moment he got acussed of r*ping and loosing his followers boom he becomes a baptised christian . Same case scenario with Kat Von D - the moment people saw her racist past , her dating a man dressed as a nazi ,(her NOT apolagizing and sayng she cant be rasist becouse her dad is a mexican - argentian from germany .......SIDE EYE) her calling her ex boss a jewish slur, naming one of her makeup shadows lolita and r*tardet and now marryng a man that disowned his daughter becouse she was gang r*aped by HIS friends, not wanting to get vacinate her child( that way putting other kids in danger) - after all of that Kat is like omg i am trowing away my taro cards and i am baptised christian. I find it soo shady that shitty people the moment they get exsposed pull out the christian card. Anway my ask is do you thing there is anything astrologically related to so manny celebrities getting there true faces exsposed. Like i have been calling does shady people out but as if this year the veil is pulled from everyones eyes . Is there something significant that happend this year that coused this and also will there be more exsposing in your opinion( do the stars say something is gonna happend next few months in hollyweird)? ps I dont hate on christians but as a witch i find it soo irritating how the moment creeps do somehting horrible insted of admiting it they say God loves me bye. Exacly what scumbag Chris Watts did ! After killing his wife and kids he said he needs to be relased from jail and teach people the bible becouse he was a reborn christian...like??? BASTARD anyway have a great day cant wait for your new posts :))you rock
I think it might definitely be Pluto in Aquarius since Aquarius rules fame, sudden events, social media etc. Ive also seen that some of the most popular women on tiktok right now have a very ”Aquarius” look and this whole AI thing.
Neptune will move into Aries next year and I think there will be a lot of exposing there too since Neptune has been at home in Pisces for years now and we might have been a little too delulu about certain celebs. Aries is a real bitch and she will put delulu people in their place when shes there.

Bea Arthur Vs. Joan Collins

Bea Arthur:
She was just so funny and compelling onscreen. She had great timing. And she was beautiful no matter what age and she was an incredibly LGBT+ ally.
