In revelations that can only come from listening to video games music for too long:
The soundtrack to the NES game “S.C.A.T.” (yes, poor localization choice) has been stuck in my head recently. It’s got a neat set-up where the tone progression is the same, but the rhythm and length of the notes is different, resulting in different pieces with different genres. (Think like the White Stripes album “Get Behind Me, Satan.”)
There was a particular piece for Stage 3-3 that has a very unique twang note style. Like, I was asking myself, “Why does this sound like something from ‘The Adventures of Bayou Billy’?”
Turns out that both soundtracks indeed had the same composer. Dude was hopping between Konami and Natsume for a couple of years! Brain knew not, but ears did.

Another event with Jinpachi! :D
And there's Kanetsugu and Kiyohiro too, finally!

I wonder if the guest is another of the Sanada Ten Braves who we haven't met yet.

I think I can confidently say that Kiyohiro will win this already? 😊 I am voting for him too since my other choices are quite low in the ranking (Tsunamoto and Tadakatsu), so I supported Kiyohiro instead.
Tumblr media
I got a liking on him from his last SE in SLBP, the one where Hanzo tortured him and he got quite clingy with the mc while she's attending to his wounds. It's cute and sweet. Unfortunately, he became quite distant from the later SEs from the JP app (Koiran), which is weird because they should be getting closer more? Anyway, looking forward to his SLBP-exclusive story after this election. ❤️

If you think this is weird in light of how the Iga villages work in the Shadow side of the story, you’re right. The Radiance side of the story tends to treat Iga as this one huge village and that Kiyohiro serves as Saizo’s assistant. However, in the Shadow side, it’s revealed that Saizo and Kiyohiro are from different villages (Saizo is from Momochi, if you haven’t seen it).
The Shadow side shows that the three villages mostly don’t antagonise each other, and Saizo is higher ranking, but that doesn’t exactly give an auto permit for Saizo to boss around Kiyohiro casually. I could be wrong but I thought I once saw that there was an explanation that Hattori had some sort of agreement with Momochi to send Kiyohiro to cooperate with Saizo in Takeda, but otherwise it seems more apt to just treat the “Radiance canon” as a completely different universe from “Shadow canon”, even if the characters cross over occasionally.
There is/was an event where the Shadow ninja love interests show up in the Radiance side, but it’s a very rare occurrence, and most of the time the Radiance story operates with the assumption that the Shadow ninjas don’t exist (Genya existing would kind of solve a lot of issues in the Masamune events in Radiance, for example).
I say “side” because in the Japanese game they literally separate Radiance from Shadow like this:
Tumblr media
The wardrobes and friends list are not shared. You can’t wear the Radiance kimono in the Shadow side, or Shadow ninja outfits in Radiance. The castle is also not entirely shared. You cannot have, say, Sakuya’s default castle items (like the banana tree and banana pillows) in Radiance, but Battle Event items will appear in both sides.

"The Hattori village is united by bloodline, and through the family's many branch, essentially almost everyone living in there are related to each other"
MC’s takeaway: “Oh, so Kiyohiro might be a distant relative to Masanari-sama as well”
Uh, MC, never mind just Kiyohiro, you do realize the entire goddamn village is essentially just one very very big family? That’s... kind of creepy... Like there’s a difference between a very tight-knit community that cares for each other like family, and the entire village being actually blood family.

Top 100 Films
I made this list a few days ago after feeling irritated at the predictability and staleness of the Sight & Sound list, but really I think this a good moment for me to make this list for myself. As you will see from my end of year list in a month, the emergence of a continuous type of filmmaking - Tiktok and Douyin filmmakers posting every day, Youtubers posting every few days - presents a new kind of problem for me who actually wants to make lists that do justice to beautiful filmmaking movements. So this may be the last time to even really want to make an all time list that focuses on the indvidual works rather than the directors filmographies as continuous entities. Although I couldn’t make a normal top 10 poll, and it was better in the end to have a 100 poll as an alternative to the full list, I have put in bold 7 films which I would definitely put in a top 10.
