aw thank you!! i just gave them one outfit with cc, since it’s the outfit they wear the most often and i don’t want to overload my gameplay save with cc. i have a whole separate mods folder and everything to keep myself in check lol

@maturation hmmm not really :( i wrote some tips here for making teenagers look like teenagers, but it’s even harder to make them look like preteens 😭 i think the only time i pulled it off was with casper, and that was really just because he has a baby face without trying. i didn’t even try with asa because he’s so big, i just did a time skip to avoid the whole thing. i’m sorry i can’t help more!! it’s such a huge limitation of the sims :/

hey! i thought i had removed everything by pandasama, but there was actually a file called “animation_injector_changingtable” in my mods folder that was causing problems. delete it, then delete localthumbcache, then reload the game to see if it worked :) otherwise my other problem was an outdated TOOL mod, i thought i updated it but i actually downloaded an old version! (btw, pandasama’s other stuff works fine now, i put it all back after i finished testing. just make sure to update the childbirth mod if you have that)

yes it’s a main blog!! i would 1000000% recommend creating a new account for your simblr! it’s huuuge for visibility. it would be really hard for people to follow you back if your main blog is the one whose url is showing up; most people won’t go to the effort of clicking on your blog to find out if you have a simblr somewhere else. i created a separate email so that i could keep my personal blog as my main blog, but still have a new account for simblr :) also if you use firefox (which everyone should tbh), you can use the containers extension so that you don’t have to log in and out of your accounts all the time, you can just open them in two tabs!

okay it's kinda funny you said this because... well i don't want to give too much detail but i used to live between a historic cemetery, an honest to god abandoned psychiatric facility, and a building that's known to be one of the most haunted places in the state. but i still never felt or saw ANY ghosts. that's why i didn't believe for so long, because how can i be in the freaking bermuda triangle of ghost activity and never see one?? i'm still mad about it lmao, whether i believe in them or not, i've always wanted to see a ghost so bad. especially if they're just lonely! come to me and we can chill lol

oh wow yeah it’s always freaky when people who don’t seem like the type to believe in this kind of stuff tell you stories like this; it adds a new layer of credibility if you can eliminate all other options. like when people are grieving their loved ones, it’s normal to see/hear/smell them everywhere, and when you’re living in that fog of grief, you can mistake a lot of things for ghost activity that are actually just a result of you looking for patterns to make sense of it all. and i still think this is the case most of the time. i remember when my grandma died, my mom was understandably a complete mess, and she was always misplacing things in that time. but to this day, she still claims it was my grandma who was moving her water bottle, turning the stove on, etc. i’m still (and always will be) a very science minded person, so i’m always going to look at the other explanations first. sorry that was a tangent lmao but my point is, it’s always weird when someone down to earth says stuff like this. that would be so sad, but at least he was able to comfort them a little bit :( what an awful way to go :(

Dell Latitude E6410 upgrade

Hello! i have never used this website before lol so here is an upgrade i did to my laptop that i use for my personal projects.

i found this used work laptop from 2011 and it really caught my eye, and for a whopping 25 dollars it was mine!

I then proceeded to throw Linux on it and trun it into something like this lol

When i took the laptop apart for cleaning and just cause, i realized that the CPU was socket-ed not soldered to the motherboard and when doing some research on the specs i found that the higher end versions of this laptop had significantly higher spec CPU's compared to what i had and since they were so old didn't cost much.

Okay that should be enough rambling backstory, the installed CPU was an intel I5 540M dual core and the highest officially supported CPU was an I7 820QM which i picked up for 20 dollars off Ebay.

Things of note during the install

Here is said processor

A cool thing i noticed was that this processor has the one single large die where as the older processor had 2 smaller dies, which i assume is due to the 540 having integrated graphics while the 820 does not.

Another chip on the board had what looked like thermal paste on the die but a thermal pad was stuck to the heat sink which makes me wonder if someone has been in there before all the way down to the heat sink.

Other than that the install went very smoothly and luckily the computer booted up without any issues first try!

I didn't really do any performance measurements before and after but what i can say is that the older CPU would regularly hit 100% usage just browsing Firefox and now with multiple tabs open downloading a program and installing a different one the only 2 cores peaked at 50% with the rest hovering around 10% to 20% plus it just feels more responsive in general.

I got some more ram as this CPU can also support up to 8gb instead of the 4 that it hasn't arrived yet, i may do more upgrades idk we will see. I will definitely post more of my other much weirder computers that i made as well as memes and whatever else i feel like.

Everybody, I have important news. I am now officially a minecraft gamer >:}

(also know as I finally got around to downloading Java because of the free copy mojang give all bedrock players a few months ago when they official merged the games into one purchase on pcs)

I should note I did this because my laptop was lagging and I figured better do it while I want to and if it crashed it then oh well. That's item number 1 on the checklist done! All that's left is... download firefox and figure out how to use it, and somehow download clangen!

Yooo!! Good for you Voidling congrats on gettin Java!!! I just swapped over to firefox from Chrome/Google a few months ago and it's pretty neat! you're not being nosy at all! i LOVE talking about books! here's my goodreads if anyone wants to be friends!! 🫶

my go-to genres have always been romance and literary fiction, but im trying to branch out this year and read more genres! i've recently been reading thriller and fantasy :)

i just finished the folk of the air series and omggg it was soooo good! it was my first fantasy series (besides harry potter and twilight) and i enjoyed it much more than i thought i would!

some of my fav books are normal people by sally rooney (and conversations with friends by her), my year of rest and relaxation by ottessa moshfegh, the idiot by elif batuman, and writers and lovers by lily king!

here's my tips for people who want to get into reading!

start by reading popular books. they're usually popular for a reason, and it's so fun being able to go on booktok/booktube and see everyone talk about a book you've read! reading obscure books is fun too but sometimes it makes me sad when i can't discuss it with anyone else

watch booktok/booktube! watching book vids always makes me wanna read sooo bad. it's like i get fomo or something lol. but it's great motivation and a good way to find new books!

only read books that ACTUALLY interest you! don't force yourself to read something that is popular if you aren't truly interested in the plot. i've had friends who tried to get into reading and started reading classics simply because they thought that was what they were supposed to read. then they declared they hated reading and it wasn't for them, when really they were just reading the wrong things. most classics are really slow-paced and i don't recommend them to beginners!

if you're addicted to your phone, try reading on your phone! my irl bestie could never pay attention to physical books bc she was addicted to her phone, but she got a kindle and she's been reading so much more! im not personally addicted to my phone (yes that's a flex) but i still rlly enjoy reading on my phone! you can read anywhere, in any position, in the dark, etc. also for some reason books go by sooo much faster when you read them on your phone? maybe bc u can't see how many physical pages are left? and bc u can make your font as big as you want

reading can get pretty expensive, depending on how much you read. i don't buy a book unless i've already read it and know i liked it. if anyone wants a tutorial on how to download free ebooks lmk🤭 it's the way to go tbh

i read 51 books last year (my goal was 75 but i seriously slacked), and my goal this year is 100 🤭 i've already read 13 books this month, and i read 12 last month, so if i keep this up i'll read 144-156 (ish) books by the year ends. so! im confident i'll be able to reach my goal!

sure!! I honestly did not shop around long enough to check that many apps so there are probably other options out there that might suit you better, but these are what worked for me:

mobile app: @voice aloud by hyperionics (android)

afaik this is only available in android though so.... if you use iOS uh, I guess this might not be an option, sorry

I actually use this the most since I really love its features, and also most of my tts "reading" is for reading epubs/pdfs. (tip: AO3 lets you download fics in both formats, so this is perfect for reading fics too!)

things I like about it:

you can change the voice speed, pitch, and voice set. I use google's en-us-x-tpf-local which is not a descriptive name at all lol. and the app reads the text to me at 1.5x speed (sometimes faster if I have to go through a lot of text in a short amount of time).

you can change the pronunciation of some words! it's not perfect but it's a helpful feature when reading some texts with words and names that are not common in the english language or just not in english altogether. this is mostly trial and error until you can set an approximately "good-enough" pronunciation so again, not perfect, but better than nothing. also this is the one feature that I found to be really valuable but couldn't find in other apps (if anyone knows other apps/extensions that does have this, let me know!!)

you can bookmark lines!!

if you have multiple devices (phones, tablets), you can sync your reading progress and bookmarks. okay this did not work well for me with bookmarks so I'm still figuring that out, but it does work for reading progress. so I can read an article in my phone, stop, then continue on my tablet. the app syncs through your google account, which you have to provide to enable the feature

you can set it to sleep after a set amount of time

you can let music play in the background e.g. you can listen to your epub and spotify at the same time

pros of listening on your phone is you can multitask! I can listen to fics or articles while washing dishes, doing laundry, commuting, etc. one time, I copied all the genshin books I wanted to read from the wiki and turned it into an epub so I can listen to them while doing chores. this is also what I used to read daily dracula!

browser extension: read aloud (firefox, also available in chrome)

this doesn't have any of the features mentioned above so this is very bare bones, but it Works™ and that's all I need it to do. I like that I can change the reading speed and I can skip lines so I can tell the extension to start reading from a specific point in the page.

I think I tried some other ones but for some reason couldn't really get them to work or found them frustrating to use? I probably just didn't understand how to use them lol so I just wanted something that Works™ and this is it for me

when none of the above works: sometimes, neither of them work for gdocs that are view-only and have permissions set such that you can't download the file. in this case, I open the gdocs on my phone use the phone's own native tts to read for me. I use samsung so on samsung this is called talkback. it's kinda clunky to use tbh so I only used it a handful of times, but it's an option when neither of the above works and I really want something else to read the text for me lol

btw if anyone has any apps/extensions to suggest please let me and anon know too!! I didn't explore that many so maybe I missed some really good ones

this may be a real dumb question which is why I’m on anon but I don’t understand where people get material from shows to make gifs or music video edits. like if it’s on Netflix or hbo or something, how does it go from being tv to something you can make your edits to? how did you learn to make them? also your gifs are beautiful! esp the recent the great ones

I mostly t*rrent things to make gifs. Unfortunately I can't really get into the how of it in a public answer because I don't want tumblr to snipe my blog. So if you slide into my dms I promise not to judge you and I can tell you a little more. Or you could just google "best t*rrent sites* and then *how to t*rrent* and go from there lol. There's definitely tutorials that could help you better than I can!

I can also help you find a tv/movie downloads discord which is safe and easy and does not require t*rrenting, but this would also have to be off of anon. oh and for youtube videos you can just google "convert youtube to mp4" and there's like a ton of sites that do that. also, sweet person, i hope you have an adblock app downloaded because it makes piracy (and life) MUCH easier. I use uBlock for firefox <3

Full aware I'm behind on certain pic posts.

The latest make over with firefox is shit. I cant download pics likes I used to, doing things the long way rounds hurts my brain; lack of sunlight.

My current notebook is having more brain farts than me, so I'm waiting a delivery of a new one. Think the motherboard is cracking up, no doubt the last windows update did something. I'm not computer savvy but I know enough to know it's not me.

I'll get on the pic thing tomorrow, will need tonight to get everything sorted on it and work my way round it. Lol. It's in a lovely blue color, they did one in purple but it was sold out.

i use the video downloadhelper extension for downloading the episodes! it works great on wetv (and other sites) and i think it works both for chrome and firefox (it’s the first one that pops up when you google it); thanks to @transtian for recommending it :))

I started working from home and of course my laptop decided imminent HDD failure right now was excellent timing. 🙄🙄🙄

So I did a thing where I lowkey panicked, then got my MacGyver hat back because that's what I do I find solutions.

So this happened:

So on the off chance laptop died, I could still have a semblance of a workstation until my department could refurb a laptop for me.

In any case I curbed my panic because my anxiety about coronavirus doesn't need any help.

I sent that to my sibling in group chat because I figured they'd get a kick out of it. My ability to pull these kinds of stunts are famous and I'm kinda proud of that and then my brother does the thing that my brother does where he asks questions like "are you gonna try to replace the drive or say fuck it and get a new laptop"

"eh, probably replace the drive, then if I fuck it up I'll save for a laptop"

"LOL, point"

And then next thing I know I get an email from Best Buy saying "your order will arrive on 3/26"

I didn't order anything, this fool buys me an SDD cuz moving parts are the devil and we hate them.

I got that today and installed it and only sorta fucked up once 😂

I fixed that (cable I forgot to reconnect, kinda important if I want the power to turn on) but then, Win10 didn't want to install.

And came to realize my dumbass didn't create a restore disk for laptop when I replace my old one.

But guess what I found? My copy on Win7 🤗

And that mofo did install.

Then came the issue of on board drivers not being regonized. Including the network adapter and 2/3 USB ports.

My desktop (a whole different headache I can't deal with for so many reasons) does not have a wifi card, it's got a USB wifi adapter and I did NOT lose the install disk for it.

So we've got and OS, we've got internet, we've gotten (most of) the driver updates and FYI, if you ever need to reinstall Windows 10 and haven't had to replace your mother board all you have to do is run the upgrade tool if you upgraded when it was free and once it installs the digital license will be validated.

Of course you have to be able to GET to the website, and new installs of Windows 7 have the jankiest version of IE known to man.

But I'm in full on problem solving mode right, and this guy right here:

This is the USB-A to USB-C adapter that came with my phone to transfer files from my old device to my new one. Side note, this is also what enabled me to use my desktop mouse and keyboard on my tablet. I plugged this into my phone, plugged a USB drive into it and downloaded the windows version of Firefox so I could install it.

And now, 3 hours later

And with that, I've earned a cocktail.

My Favorite Video Downloaders (ALL FREE)

Download Managers/Software

The advantage of download managers is that they let you keep all your downloads in one place, download multiple things at once, and most importantly restart, pause, or resume downloads (this is super useful if your internet goes out because the download manager will usually be able to resume the progress from where you left off, while for example if your internet goes out while downloading from your browser it can sometimes mess up the download and make you restart the entire thing from the beginning).

JDownloader 2: THE GOAT

This is my favorite video downloader for sure! It lets you choose the quality, frame rate, and format of your video download. It can load entire channels or playlists from YouTube. It combines and extracts ts part files (.ts.001, .ts.002, etc.). Many sites are supported besides YouTube like dailymotion, vimeo, facebook, vk, twitter, ok.ru, archive.org, etc. You can also paste the m3u8 links to download videos from sites like NBC Sports (video clips and full event replays/streams), NBC Gold, NBC Olympics, Olympic Channel, 1tv, FISU, eurovisionsports, radikal.ru, rutube, vs-mobi, etc. It works for managing downloads from sites like google drive, mediafire, sendspace, mega.nz, etc. too. You can even use a proxy to download geo-blocked videos.

You can find the m3u8 links to copy and paste using any of these browser extensions:

The Stream Detector (Firefox): https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/hls-stream-detector/

This only grabs links and doesn’t download. I use this to get m3u8 links on Firefox.

HLS Downloader (Chrome/Opera): https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/hls-downloader/apomkbibleomoihlhhdbeghnfioffbej

HLS Downloader can also download videos as mp4s, but you have to re-encode the video using avidemux for smooth playback, uploading, importing the video for gifing in photoshop, etc. so I prefer to just use it for copying the m3u8 links into JDownloader 2, where the videos download PERFECTLY. I use this to get m3u8 links on Opera and Chrome and I prefer this to Adobe HDS/HLS Video Saver in terms of user interface. The downside to this extension is that it makes videos unplayable on dailymotion and rutube.

Adobe HDS/HLS Video Saver can also download videos as .ts files, but I prefer my files as mp4s so I didn’t use this to download videos, but only to get the m3u8 links to paste into JDownloader 2. I uninstalled this extension when I found HLS Downloader though because I prefer that one and don’t need two m3u8 link grabbers from Opera/Chrome. You have to clear your downloads or refresh your page a lot if you just want a link for a specific video because it captures a lot of m3u8 links and they sometimes stay in the url bar when it’s just videos from browsing and not ones you want to download.

Xtreme Download Manager

http://xdman.sourceforge.net

You use this along with downloading the XDM Browser Monitor extension for whatever browser you use to download videos. Many sites are supported (it doesn’t detect NBC Gold videos tho). The original files will usually be .ts files (and for YouTube MKV), but when downloading it lets you choose MP4 best quality to save/convert as. I use this to download videos from Disney Now and to download and convert 4K YouTube videos to MP4 (all the other downloaders only let you download 4K videos as MKV or WEBM).

You can also click on file and then “download video” and enter URLs to download and those will actually be MP4 files already and not require conversion with the built in converter that takes a lot more time/cpu power. It doesn’t find downloads or work for as many sites as the XDM Browser Monitor though.

A MEGA downloader that has no download limit. It also lets you get streaming links for MEGA that you can view in your browser. You can also upload to MEGA, split files, or combine files.

This was my favorite Firefox extension, but Firefox disabled it after the latest update. There’s still a way to get it though! This is very easy to use since it’s a browser extension and can download from nearly every site. This can download from NBC Gold and is the only add-on that can do so. Other sites it works on are NBC Sports (both videos clips and full event replays/streams), Olympic Channel, vimeo, dailymotion, archive.org, niconico, rutube, vs-mobi, youku, 1tv, ok.ru, vk, radikal.ru, etc.

Choose the file [email protected] (835 KB) from the ValidLatest-v16.2.9 folder, which will be in the google drive folder you downloaded.

You should have the extension downloaded and now just go to options and click off from automatic updates!

Stream Video Downloader

Basically the Chrome extension equivalent of Firefox’s Flash Video Downloader. It can’t download from YouTube though because of chrome extension store rules. But it works for nearly every other site including NBC Sports videos, Olympic Channel, vimeo, dailymotion, archive.org, niconico, rutube, vs-mobi, youku, 1tv, ok.ru, vk, radikal.ru, etc. It also sometimes works on Disney Now. Sometimes it says network error and sometimes it works. On NBC Gold it’s similar... it sometimes says network error after downloading everything, it sometimes fails in the middle and downloads a part of the stream. I feel like NBC Gold videos are too large for this extension to download well in full, so I would just stick with JDownloader 2 or Flash Video Downloader for NBC Gold.

Note: there’s also a Chrome extension, but you should use the Firefox version since the Firefox version has no restrictions, while the Chrome version you have to log into your Chrome account to have no restrictions, while if you don’t you have to wait 2 hours between each video download.

I originally didn’t include this in my list because I didn’t like how this caused dropped frame rate or big lags in downloads from NBC Sports, Olympic Channel, youku, 1tv, vk, dailymotion, etc. I’m including it now though because it works for Disney Now (correct frame rate and no lags) and was able to download 720p of one Disney Now episode that XDM kept failing to download. XDM and Video DownloadHelper are the only downloaders that can consistently download from Disney Now. Disney Now is really the only site I use this for downloads (besides all the testing I did for this post lol) since it doesn’t need to convert from .ts to mp4 like XDM and therefore takes a lot less time/CPU power, even if it’s not as high quality as XDM MP4 best quality conversion setting. It also works without video lags or dropped frame rates in rutube and radikal.ru though I would just use JDownloader 2, FVD, or Stream Video Downloader for these since I prefer those downloaders. Don’t use Video DownloadHelper for YouTube or vimeo because any 480p, 1080p, or 60fps videos will need ADP conversion which takes a long time and also leaves an ugly watermark.

This is the only downloader that works really well with bilbili (downloads entire video and in the best quality). Bilbili downloads are .flv files though, so you will have to use avidemux to convert to mp4 if that’s your preferred file format (it is mine). It’s also the best downloader for youku imo.

It can also download entire YouTube channels and playlists.

BTW for YouTube videos that are 480p or 1080p when you just enter the URL, it downloads mp4 video and webm audio and combines them into a MKV. I prefer mp4 files and to get mp4 just use this command:

-f bestvideo[ext=mp4]+bestaudio[ext=m4a]

To choose or check the video download qualities available use --list-formats

To specify where you want your video downloaded use -o and then the file path (ie. C:/Users/user/Downloads/%(title)s.%(ext)s)

It can download from NBC Sports site and gives direct link you can either use to view or save video as. This is a site (no software required) that actually lets you download YouTube playlists (up to 250 videos). Your videos will be put together in a .zip file that you can download and extract to your computer.

Streamable

This lets you paste the link of youtube videos and then it will upload and save it to it’s server! You don’t even have to download anything yourself. But you can download it easily from the site too. You can also upload and host videos from your computer too. And it lets you choose time stamps to upload or download only a clip of a video. There is a 10 minute and 1 GB max limit though per video.

ClipConverter

clipconverter.cc

This lets you download only clips (you can still download the entire video though) from YouTube, vimeo, facebook, and dailymotion. It also lets you choose video quality and format and sometimes frame rate. The downside is that it doesn’t work for YouTube videos that include copyrighted music. This is really useful for downloading only clips instead of the whole video when you want to make gifs.

Media Players

KMPlayer

The latest version of KMPlayer is suuuuuuuch an improvement from the older versions. It no longer has annoying ads in the box. And it can play a lot of media m3u8 links (you can get the links from the extensions I mentioned in my JDownloader 2 description earlier) and it can play sooooo many video formats and subtitle files (.sub and .idx both work on KMPlayer, but not other media players afaik). Also it has an option to download videos. You can go to file and then download URL. You can download from YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, NBC Sports, dailymotion, nicovideo, v-s mobi, etc. Usually if you paste actual URL and it finds a download, it can download it. m3u8 links usually don’t download though with download URL option even though they can be played through play url/youtube.

PotPlayer

PotPlayer is my new favorite media player. It can basically play all the files and links KMPlayer can. It has much better color quality than KMPlayer though and better default aspect ratio detection. Another cool feature it has over KMPlayer is that when you play TV episodes in the same folder it will create an ordered playlist, which makes things easy to watch. It doesn’t have a URL download option like KMPlayer, but this isn’t an issue for me because anything that can be downloaded in URL download from KMPlayer, I can download with a different downloader on this list. PotPlayer has an even more useful feature that sets it apart from everything else on this list, which is video recording that records directly from the source video (much better than screen recording). This works on things KMPlayer URL Download can’t work on like playable m3u8 links or playable live-streams. Local YouTube Downloader

This shows you the direct audio and video links under YouTube videos. You can click on the links to simply view or click “save video as” and download. That’s all you need to do if you want 360p or 720p streams. For 480p or 1080p quality you have to download the audio and video streams separately and combine them with ffmpeg. I don’t do this since it’s easier to just have them download and combined with JDownloader 2 or YouTube-DL. I love this script mostly for having direct links I can view in new tab instead of on YouTube site or downloading geo-blocked YouTube videos with just browser (instead of computer wide) extension VPN.

VK Media Player

This puts a download button on VK videos where you can click and download to your computer or open the link in a new tab and show/view the direct video. I find this really useful since VK’s video playing layout can be annoying with the playlists and slowish loading times.

This is what I use to download torrents and the best torrent download manager imo. It’s open source and has no ads or malware. You can also use the search engine (it will download with python) and add search plugins to search from torrent sites. It’s better than uTorrent which I tried and would always open on start up even when I put not to in my options and would be stuck at 0% when trying to download magnet links.

Screen Recording

I come from ff.net. Well more like the app than the actual site. I really never use my computer so most of my reading is done on and through my phone. That's kind of why I prefer ff.net as adverse to ao3, because the app automatically updates any fic you have downloaded which is another cool feature. Whereas ao3 I have to recieve notifications through my email, which is currently under attack by spam in all of my inboxes.

Another thing is the downloads in case I want to read offline because again, I primarily use my phone. This is going to sound lazy but I don't like going through my files just to delete the previous downloaded update. And the ff.net app does it automatically.

When talking about the actually sites. I prefer ao3 one hundred times over because the ff.net website is so junky. Not to mention the terrible comment system. Jeez, I'll give several points to ao3 in that department.

I kind of just wish ao3 would have an app so that way I could do away with ff.net but alas, it was not ment t to be.

All of this being said, I really like ao3. I like the diverse filter system, the comment system, it just feels more... refined. Also I've seen some pretty cool and original work skins on ao3.

I hope you've benefited on your break from Tumblr and I also have gotta say, love the art.

Yes these are all reasons for using FFN which make sense, and you probably speak for a lot of people.

The reason AO3 will never be an app is because it hosts explicit content. I think this is a question AO3 regularly fights off, but that's the drawback of being a relatively uncensored platform. But AO3 is superior to FFN's review system, I agree. Overall I enjoy the comments a lot.

People on FFN don't really 'talk' to me so there's not a lot of interaction there as it is, it's the comments on AO3 I get to talk to people. I also really want to read the reviews for recent chapters but I got a bit scared and now I haven't looked in a few weeks so I have to bite the bullet, I also am not sure if people want messages back from me? I can't even check emails so this is a pattern of behaviour for me. I'll get around to looking after I have an appointment today.

To be fair AO3 was made much later than FFN, and FFN clearly hasn't changed fundamentally in a long long time. That's probably why the fic upload system is so archaic and backwards lol (another of my issues with it). AO3 also had the benefit of being an archive made in response to the failings of other archives (... like FFN, or the change of del.icious). You can read the fanlore page about its founding here.

And yeah I use a workskin for AO3. I get that some people don't care about how something is read or what it looks like but I like that I can make it pretty.

I'm sitting here trying to think of a solution (one I can propose: make a fandom/online stuff only email) but I do want to note the reason I don't upload concurrent chapters across AO3 and FFN is because it's impossible to maintain the same one at the same time, especially if I catch typoes after posting. It's not just because I hate FFN. I think it would be unfair of me to treat FFN worse because the website is stupid.

Besides it makes sense there's somewhat of a split across AO3/FFN. Partisan splits are a necessary part of any group (here, fandom). Basically second-nature to tend towards schism

I'm sure there's something Campbell in there somewhere (trying to get back to being one) etc. etc.

I would offer to send you an... email of the chapters uploaded to AO3 ahead of FFN? Like a direct .pdf if that would help? But I mean if you really really wanna read the next chapter, you can open up Firefox or whatever browser people use these days. I don't hold it against you if you'd prefer to use FFN and just skip that. There's just going to be gaps in chapters on FFN later on of missing scenes, and I did take 'cunt' out of Chapter 9 because, even if it's allowed, I can only imagine it might have scared FFN users.

But yes it is helpful to hear from a mobile user who uses FFN, because literally every fandom I've been in before R/WBY didn't use FFN very much at all. There's some Reylo fic I saw uploaded to FFN but otherwise I didn't even know people used it much at all, so it's quite a surprise. I imagine that's probably to do with RWBY viewer demographic (anime, more men. Not trying to make a gender normative statement just observing there are differences).

Anyway, the more relevant point here is that you're on my Tumblr blog and I talk about the AO3 chapters, not the FFN order. I didn't expect any FFN users would bother to come to Tumblr, I figured if their interest was sparked they would go AO3 -> Tumblr. So I'm sorry about that. I guess I have to ask do you use Tumblr very much at all?

But I hope I haven't made you feel... bad using FFN. I figured more casual readers are on FFN anyway, I don't begrudge less interaction or using the app in preference over browser. The 'real' version is on AO3 but if people bite on FFN and seem to like it, that's really nice.

Finally, thanks for liking my art! That's very sweet of you! And yes, the break did me good on the fic front.
