Нооруз майрамыңар менен! Happy Nooruz!
Today is the 21st of March, aka the Spring Equinox, which means that it's Nooruz! Nooruz is the Persian New Year, celebrated worldwide by different ethnic groups, but mostly in Eurasia.
My country, Kyrgyzstan (Central Asia), has celebrated Nooruz for thousands of years for the coming of spring. It's a time of rebirth and new beginnings, and a way to bring in luck for the coming year. I've never celebrated Nooruz due to living abroad, but this year I wanted to do something special, so... I wrote a fic!
It's called a very apt For the Coming of Spring and you can read pt.1 on AO3!
Suddenly, there is an exclamation behind them, and notes on a sort of lute rise in the air. “Komuz,” the man with the grey hair says. He is smiling. “Today is a happy day.”

KYRGYZSTAN: The ancient Kyrgyz puppet theatre where dancing mountain goats are stars
A Kyrgyz artist is keeping alive a puppet theater tradition that dates back centuries. Esenbek Mairykov, 71, learned to carve his dancing mountain goats from his grandfather and hopes to pass on the tradition, known as tak-teke, to future generations.
His family has also made the komuz three-string instruments that inspire the little goats to move along miniature escarpments.

The teacher is the path, but it is the spirits who form the taiga.

As I mentioned earlier, even if Lian hated her village, she's still attached to her culture. For example, I imagine her playing music when she has free time after the war (with a Komuz, an instrument from Central Asia that is a Kyrgyz national symbol, Kyrgyz that inspired Kyrmyn, Lian's tribe and also her dialect)
Are there any other Kyrmyn characters? Because the thing is Lian has a leg up where she can ask Sokka about something Katara does and find out if a SWT cultural thing and what it means, but does Katara have anyone to ask about Lian's behavior or does she just have to be confused and not know when her girlfriend is trying to propose-

So I’m reading a grammatical description of Daatsʼíin (Ahland 2016). This is a small language spoken in western Ethiopia; it is a sister language or divergent dialect of Gumuz spoken to its south, further related to the Koman dialect cluster. These are altogether known as the Komuz family, proposed to be Nilo-Saharan but more probably a small independent family.
and, apparently, the word for ‘mother’ is /jaajó/… which brings to my mind the Dahalo word for ‘mother’, which is /jáájo/ and famous for being the only word in the language that has /j/.
Dahalo however is spoken in coastal Kenya, something like 1800 km away

the best candidate for a possible connection would be thru the regional major language Oromo, but this won’t pan out at least; in there ‘mother’ is haadha (dh = /ɖ/).
