I can't help but wonder about your One Piece OC! I know you've mentioned that he's a mature person in the crew, but do you see him as more of a sibling/parental role to Luffy, or is he part of the shenanigans with usopp/chopper/luffy, or is he like tired uncle like Jinbei (or secretly amused like zoro) ? I am eager to hear about where he meshes in with crew especially luffy

I also can't help but wonder if our first mate gets jealous of him often. You mentioned that you do, but I think about like what if some days luffy just misses Ace, and luff will stare at Jean a lot more sometimes or just hover around him just to relive being with his brother *cries*

Ahhh!! Im so happy and excited every time I get question about my OCs (❤´艸｀❤) Thank you for taking interest and being curious about Jean!

To answer. He is more of big brother type. Not just to Luffy but to everyone. Even the older mature straw hats. Jean just have so much love to give, growing up not knowing much about the world, isolated and thinking himself to be a slave until death. It really is Luffy and the strawhats who saved him and his fellow slaves so, he's enthusiastic in showing them how much he cares for them. how thankful he is to them for saving him, and along with that, his life. So he spoils everyone like this cool doting brother.

I'm actually planning to make one paged comic series ( kind of like 4 koma? ) in his interactions with the strawhats. As well as discovering more of the world. little sneak peek with Sanji ( ignore the cross. i changed that to a locket )

Here, Jean becomes the big brother Sanji dreamed and should have had. At first it annoys Sanji to no end even saying stuff like " gross, dont touch me. its weird! " but Jean is so gentle towards the crew, even helping Sanji wash the dishes, even cleaning the kitchen at night to surprise Sanji that eventually, Sanji accepts Jean. And finally allows himself to be spoiled. Even bringing out that side of Sanji that longs for a caring brother. One he only dreamed back then.

Jean has that ability to let everyone's hidden side of wanting to be spoiled and Jean is all to happy to do so. He is just so happy to be there with everyone. That he never really asks for anything in return.

As for Zoro being made Jealous by Jean. Yes he does that. but there is a moment only the three of them knows. Its when Luffy gets nightmares about Ace every now and then. most of the time he can deal with it, but there are times he's so shaken. When Jean wasn't around yet, it's Zoro trying to calm him down. But when jean arrived, the three of them found out that, despite being freaked out by jean and Ace looking alike, Jean helps Luffy calm down due to his voice being exactly like Ace's. Along with it, Jean's hugs is just one of the best. Even beating hugs from Jinbei. There's a strange therapeutic effect.

Here is a comic I doodled quickly just now to show that.

I still wanted to emphasize the eerie feeling from Jean and Ace's similarities are so the comic ended up a bit off. (laughs) please forgive me!

Every time this happens, Luffy does apologize to Jean for asking him to 'talk' like Ace. He knows it's wrong, but honestly, Jean would do anything to calm Luffy. and He knows Luffy doesn't mean it and that he's just suffering, So Jean is very patient with him and never really feels offended at all.

And that is all the answers I have!

Yes, You see, I imagine fem!Lu as still very much the same as her canon male self, very boyish, lacking elegance, picking nose (lol!) and just still very much canon male Lu, just, she has female body. Her face is very cutely androgynous already so no changes needed there. So I tend to draw her still having a flat figure with her closed vest. In the RP account i have for her at X you can actually read a bit more about my little headcanon about her in her pinned post.

Its really fun!

I just read your post about Luffy being very attached to Zoro and vice versa! I loved it!!! Zoro and Luffy's relationship, beyond everything, is the foundation of the Straw hats. Luffy was a pirate, he always would be, but Zoro was the one who made him captain. They're the ones who determined what the relationship between the rest of the crew would be like, inadvertently. Because the rest of the Straw Hats don't change any of that base but rather add layers. I fervently believe that if Zoro had said "you are the captain and I am your first mate", he would be appointed as such (just like in Opla) but Zoro did not choose a position for himself mostly because Luffy needed a crew to fulfill his dream, he needed people and followers, but he didn't. He needed freedom and a north star. That's why he's just the swordsman. That's why there are no official hierarchies in the Straw Hats.

Like, Luffy 100% has abandonment issues like he's so scared of people leaving him. (I.e. when Ace told him to shut up or stop crying he would do so immediately 😭). So ofc he's doing his best to listen to Zoro no matter how much it hurts, and it must've affirmed his fears/insecurities of getting in Zoro's way. Zoro watching Luffy drift away but he doesnt know what happened or what to do 😭. Maybe Luffy starts doing other things like apologizing when zoro saves him and stops knocking into him. Also jealous zoro in this scenario??? Anyways thanks for reading my ramblings we need more luffy angst!!

I want to resume it too! Sadly, I cannot formulate any other scenarios properly that would not make the story cringe. All I have in my mind that is set and fixed for the plot/idea is that Luffy experiences romantic heart break for the first time, that it ruins him bit by bit. Yknow how those science thingies say heartbreak can cause death? Basically Luffy experiences that ( of course it doesnt kill him, just, ruins him so terribly ) He tries to go to other crew mates for the usual hugs but it was not the same like it was with Zoro. Even their fighting gets affected and Luffy becomes more and more reckless, and he's not even aware. Zoro also is just in denial of liking his captain, more like he is UNAWARE that he LOVES Luffy romantically, but seeing Luffy spiral down, he starts to realize. So that's the basic parts of idea I have, I just want really delicious heart wrenching angst. Am I odd for loving angst?

Luckily! There is a fic that wrote and expressed the one sided love angst idea i had much better, that i found, Although it is modern AU!!!

On to the next line of the ask, yes! Luffy very much have abandonment issues, I have rambled about that here !

Luffy drifting away and spiraling down and Zoro so clueless and feeling helpless as to whats happening to Luffy. He cares so much for Luffy but he's so in denial of his own feelings and unaware of Luffy's love for him, misunderstanding and miscommunication is always a delicious ingredient for angst.

For fanfics. I am not a big active reader of fics (can't handle too much words because of my short attention span) and if I do, I am admittedly very VERY picky. (add to it my preference for fixed positionals (Top!Zoro)) Like the slightest feeling of ooc with the characters are quick to turn me off. So far, from the few I have read, I only liked one and its ABO , titled " Spill your wine " the dynamic and personalities of the characters there is so on point and is the exact characterizations I am looking for ZoLu ! Honestly I will share to you, drawing Zoro actually felt so familiar and natural because my number 1 hasubando and obsession, Nero, has similar features as him especially when i draw them, which i found amusing because their hair, their eyes shape, almost look alike!

Its the LOYALTY!!! The way Zoro is like a feral wolf hound that Luffy tamed. and I always love a sunshine character taming the demon / monster character. It's how Zoro devoted his life and future to Luffy. How he will not obey/follow anyone other than Luffy. How he smiles the brightest around Luffy.

It's.. everything.... It's perfect!!

Hello!! I heard that you like the fic "spill your wine" and I'm such a big fan too!! It's about that devotion and complete-and-all-encompassing love for me thay really drives it home for me, and therefore becoming one of my fave Zolu fics ever.

Whenever you're interested in reading a fic again, I highly recommend "let thy sword be thy tongue" by queerweather. This fic also quickly rose to be another fave bc of the amount of devotion Zoro has for Luffy, and the writer is so descriptive and amazing at portraying how much he loves him. It's such an amazing read that I just wanted to share my joy (and I have not been normal about this fic)

I just love portrayals of devotion in fics, and especially when someone emotionally kinda constipated like Zoro is doing his darn hardest to show how much he'd do for his captain, ahhh that ruins me. I figured you'd maybe be interested as well (no joke me looking through your art seeing how whipped you make zoro, you give me the same serotonin)
