I don't think scrooge and goldie could do howl's moving castle and that's because sophie's entire arc is about learning to be confident in her own self worth and understanding that she has an inherent right to exist in this world. and neither scrooge nor goldie has ever been insecure about anything in their entire lives ever because they are both personified steamrollers who make everything about them already

#JOKE I GUESS #between them both being old most of the time anyway and neither of them being a great fit for either character.... yeah #sophie's role in the story is defined by her personality imo and it wouldn't be an optimal story if scrooge or goldie was put in her place #howl's moving castle is my favorite book. i read it nine times in 2021. it was kind of a problem. #anyway huge HOWEVER to this is scrooge could do chapter 6 in which howl expresses his feelings with green slime #and goldie could do chapter 19 in which sophie expresses her feelings with weedkiller #and vice versa honestly #also can u imagine. hugely powerful enchanter glittering goldie opens her mysterious portal to another world #only to reveal that it goes to. not wales.
