Over Thinker II 9”x9” Oil on canvas 2022 As certain paintings sell and techniques evolve, I’ve been wanting to paint some of my past concepts to see what results arise. My favorite technical goal is to have the underpainting be a major part the painting- I really enjoy the results of this one. The space behind the floating gem is all underpainting, applied in the first few seconds, and i like to see it as a cosmic microwave background. When starting Overthinker II, I used a transparent red rather then burnt sienna and I like how this makes an electric vibrancy. Keeping painting fun is EVERYTHING.
