Xōchipilli liked playing around with humans, traveling to various locations and finding hot men to hook up with from all walks of life. His typical type was strong, bigger than him, and willing to fuck him until he screamed, and a good way to find that kind of man was going to shitty dive bars in the heart of the city. Mark wasn’t physically his regular type, but seeing his sort of endearingly dorky look made him think maybe that was something was brewing under the surface. It was always the dorky guys that fucked the hardest, and with that in mind he saddled himself up at the bar next to the man. Not one to hear around the bush, he took a sip of his drink before speaking to him, “Hey, you’re cute. My hotel’s not too far from here, what do you say after our drinks are finished here we have some fun,” he suggested, biting his bottom lip as he touched the other man’s thigh.

Think of this as ‘home base’ for now; I intend to play with a hypothetical extension of Neil Gaiman’s famed STARZ series ‘American Gods’ following the events of the finale that was season three. In no way is this meant to be a canonized work nor is it to infringe upon the pre-built foundation and the amazing dedication shown to us by the actors and writers behind the show.

If You Were a Deity, What Would Be Your Domain?
//Only doing four of my muses, might do a couple more in another post.
Tumblr media
Beauty and the Arts
You are the divine spirit of love, beauty and artistic expression, as well as the intoxication and revelry which often accompany both. Due to your association with pleasures of the flesh, you of all deities are perhaps the most closely enmeshed with the affairs of mortals, and you may even have a bit of mortal blood yourself.
Your realm also encompasses the many elements which arouse intoxication, ecstasy, and spiritual transcendence for both mortals and divines—be they substances, music, or other sensory phenomena. Although you are certainly the life of the party, you also embody the spirit of healing, relaxation, and respite from the toils of the harsh mortal realm.
Your mythological equivalents are Greece’s Apollo and Dionysus, Scandinavia’s Bragi, Mesoamerica’s Xōchipilli, and Mesopotamia’s Ishtar.
---
Tumblr media
Warfare and the Forge
You are the divine patron of battle, conflict, and the weapons forged to fight them. You are quick to temper and obstinate in disposition, and you also govern heroic attributes such as strength, courage, and honor. Due to your domain’s ability to bring widespread death and suffering, much of the mortal realm often looks upon you with fear and disdain.
However, you also give life to transformative and regenerative forces such as revolution and rebellion, and your innovative forge has birthed vital technologies of science, beauty and prosperity alongside its spears and armor.
Mortals look to you for bravery and prowess in battle as well as skilled craftsmanship, and your mythological equivalents are Greece’s Ares and Hephaestus, Scandinavia’s Odin, Egypt’s Sobek, and Mesoamerica’s Huītzilōpōchtli.
---
Tumblr media
The Sea and Storms
You are the divine embodiment of rivers, oceans, and the thunderous storms and gales which make them so treacherous. Because your watery realm is one of the most foreign and inhospitable to humans, it is therefore a source of unease, mystery, and wonder.
Much like deities of Nature, you are one of the most unpredictable of all the divine beings, a reflection of the capricious skies and waters you command and cultivate. Even so, without your tempestuous influence, the mortal realm would be a stagnant and featureless place to inhabit.
Mortals look to you for bounteous fishing voyages and safe passage across treacherous waters, and your mythological equivalents are Greece’s Poseidon and Zeus, Scandinavia’s Njörðr and Ægir, Egypt’s Set, and Japan’s Raijin.
---
Tumblr media
Wisdom and Knowledge
You are the divine guardian of truths both knowable and unknowable, of all words and languages spoken and unspoken. Much like Death itself, you are perhaps one of the least understood of all deities, and yet the secrets you hold are highly sought after by scientists, philosophers, and theologians alike.
The origin of all innovation, your realm is the source of crucial advances in architecture, agriculture, political governance, and military strategy which have allowed many civilizations to become a dominant force in the mortal realm. Your domain may also include the forces of magic and mysticism, and many cautionary tales exist among mortals of those who have unwittingly destroyed themselves or lost their minds in the reckless pursuit of mysteries and technology far beyond their comprehension.
Your mythological equivalents are Greece’s Athena, Egypt’s Thoth, Mesopotamia’s Enki, and India’s Ganesha.

Finding Hermes
After spending a long time reading into different deities, and trying to find the right one for me, I ended up with a long list of deities I thought might take interest in me, and might be beneficial in helping me to become the best version of myself.
This list included:
Tir: God of Literature, Science and Art, and interpreter of dreams in Armenian paganism.
Apollo: God of artistic knowledge, music, education and youth in Ancient Greece
Peitho: Goddess of charming speech and political persuasion - persuasion and seduction in Ancient Greece
Ganesha: God of knowledge, intellect and wisdom and patron of arts and sciences in Hinduism
Kuebiko: scarecrow God of wisdom and agriculture in Japan
Enki: God of intelligence, crafts, mischief, water, and creation in ancient Sumer
Nabu: God of wisdom and writing in ancient Babylon
Odin: God of wisdom who nevertheless relentlessly keeps searching for more knowledge; associated with the runes in Norse mythology
Minerva: goddess of wisdom and crafts, the Roman equivalent of Athena
Neptune: the god of the sea and freshwater, is said to have all the knowledge of water in Ancient Rome
Muses: in Ancient Greece, they were said to inspire creativity
Saraswati: Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, art, speech, wisdom, and learning.
Huehuecóyotl: the auspicious Aztec God of music, dance, mischief, and song. He is the patron of uninhibited sexuality and rules over the day sign in the Aztec calendar named cuetzpallin and the fourth trecena Xochitl
Xōchipilli: the Dod of art, games, dance, flowers, and song in Aztec mythology.
As you can probably tell, I was keen to find a deity who promoted knowledge, creativity and intelligence. I want to work on bettering myself as a creative, focussing my mind and letting go of any stresses I have about my art form.
After researching into the deities on the list, I decided I would try to focus on Apollo. I believed that as an all-round artist, muse and encourager of youth, he would be the perfect person to help me grow as an artist.
Except, after first trying to establish my connection, I heard and felt nothing.
That is, until a couple of days later. I was sat in the car, thinking about how I could better establish a connection, when a van from the company Hermes drove past.
Tumblr media
I thought it was a bit strange, but Hermes had not been on my list of Gods, and I wasn’t sure he was the right one for me, so I brushed it off, and continued thinking of Apollo. After all, not everything is a sign, sometimes coincidence is just that.
After this, however, a few strange events occurred.
We had gone to the beach for the day - a beach famous for its fossils and gemstone; among other things, I found a couple of pieces of marble on the beach, which I associate heavily with Greek deities. I also found hawk feathers, which upon researching Hermes, are one of his main symbols.
After this, I was still unsure about whether Hermes was right for me. He had clearly taken interest, and I was seeing signs of him around everywhere, from birds sticking very close to me, to angel wing symbols in graffiti and shop decorations.
It wasn’t until we were standing on a pier, looking up at the birds, that I knew he was right for me. I had almost been pooped on by a seagull, and was very glad that it had missed. Straight after this, my dog began to mess around, trying to bark at another dog (my dog is big, and I’m not, it can be a little difficult for me to control him sometimes). The only thing that stopped him messing around was when a seagull swooped down and pooped. On his face.
Tumblr media
And although it was annoying to wipe the mess off, I realised that even in a situation like that, maybe Hermes did have my back (and a sense of humour). So I decided to pursue a relationship with him as a patron.

Closed w/ @stellarosedutton
The Xōchi twins, god and goddess of dance, flowers, and festivals among other things had summer festivals in their honor every few years, and this time for the first time ever, the four ruler gods of their pantheon had invited other pantheons to celebrate with them and one a direct line for better sharing their cultures with other gods. The twins had just finished their traditional ceremonial dance and as his sister went to mingle with some new people, Xōchipilli did the same, making a beeline to a god he’d caught watching him rather intently as he danced. “You came at just the right time. Soon we’ll have a feast and after that, an orgy,” he said, never one to really beat around the bush with topics like this. “I could be reading things wrong but I think you liked watching me dance like that,” he added in a bit of a teasing manner.

What’s your favourite place to be kissed? (For Mollymauk, Jehan, and Xōchipilli)
hell yeah hell yeah hell yeah
Molly would probably love something tender and not explicitly romantic like a few good kisses on the forehead as a tender show of affection
Jehan playful as he is would probably be most fond of kisses along the jawline, something that tickles a bit and is in a way very youthful
Xōchipilli is mostly a fan of being kissed where people would likely see it if it got a bit rough, the neck is his go-to for this reason as he hardly ever covers his neck

🎉 (horrorcomeshome) ((Aurelius will legit kiss anyone lol. Dealer’s choice))
Xōchipilli had always been rather fond of parties and festivities, enjoying the atmosphere and simply getting to sing and dance with strangers in a time of happiness, and New Years Eve Parties were some of his favorite of the modern age. The traditions around it were rather fun too, a kiss as the countdown ended was just a fun and magical way to end one year and begin the next. As the countdown drew near and the night threatened to turn into the next day, Xōchipilli looked around for anyone also alone at the party. He hadn’t ever put much stake into who he would kiss as planning things often ruined the fun of it for him but found a handsome man he felt he’d perhaps seen before and decided that was his best bet. He instantly started talking to him without much hesitation and as he felt the two had been hitting it off, decided this was going the be the man he kissed once the countdown hit one. As the countdown started, he joined in with the masses at the party counting in unison, turning to face the handsome stranger, holding his face and kissing him a little deeper than he’d intended to shortly after the group said the final number in the countdown. This was more exciting than he had been anticipating, and maybe if he were to play his cards right the new year could start off with a literal bang. After they pulled away from the kiss, he spoke, deciding to at least introduce himself, talking loud to be heard over the noise of the party, “My names Xōchi! What’s yours?”

Mythology - Foretold by the gods (horrorcomeshome) ((my brain says one of the Xochi siblings and Auri?))
Xōchipilli had never considered himself the kind of person who would get married, he was incredibly gay and that was one big mark against him, at least when marrying in his own pantheon. He’d already seen his sister married no less than four times, most of those times just stolen for her beauty and then coerced to marry the man who stole her, who would eventually see the error in his ways and let her go, but he’d never figured he’d be the type of god be stolen to be married so he had made his peace with the fact that as time went on, he would be a confirmed bachelor for the rest of it. All that was until one day, he was called to a high council with some deities of other groups, having arrived there with his sister to see gods from various pantheons awaiting his arrival. In the group of others, he glanced to a much more familiar face of them and waved slightly to his friend, Auri. The twins were soon seated, wine poured out for them as Xōchipilli took a moment to assess the situation and the deities around the large, circular table, all dressed in their traditional, cultural garb. Apollo sat, adorned in gold jewelry beside a god with dark skin, also rocking gold but in the form of matalic body paint in stripes on his body, though he’d never got the chance to formally meet him, Xōchipilli understood this man to be a member of the Yoruba pantheon named Ọrunmila. Beside them, the queen goddes of the Norse Pantheon, Figga with one of her handmaidens, conversing with Hera and Bochica of the Muisca pantheon. He wasn’t entirely sure what this was all about, sharing a look of confusion with his sister before Frigga stood, clearing her throat to get the attention of the group. “My dear children. I’m sure you’re wondering why we’ve brought you here, with an assortment of deities, answers will become clear soon. All of us here are in some regards, divination deities, and we’ve all had very similar visions regarding our recently ascended god of luck, Aurelius, who took place of his mother,” she began, the handmaiden next to her fairly saying “may her memory be a blessing” as a sort of superstitious notion before Frigga continued, “And the Prince of flowers himself, Xōchipilli. We’ve all seen visions of your union.”
“Oh damn, did you like what you saw at least,” Xōchipilli asked, blushing lightly, thinking they meant not a marriage but likely some very rough sex the two of them would likely have in the future. Apollo chortled, covering his mouth as some wine spurted from it, amused by this conclusion his friend had drawn.

“This is the first time I’ve ever been to one of these, I’m sorry if I’m a little awkward.” (Ares to Xochi for Butler Cafe fun)
Xōchipilli was quite used to something similar to this being said to him, he was usually assigned the people who told the host it was their first time as he was a friendly enough and the bubbliest butler they had on rotation. “Oh, no worries, everyone starts somewhere, my prince. I’m Yucca and I’ll be your butler today. The basic rundown is for the time you’re here, I’ll be entertaining you, serving you, and treating you like you’re a prince and I’m your butler. Could I interest you in some tea to start? My favorite is our “blooming beauty” tea,” he explained, pointing to an item on the menu. “It’s mostly dried flowers but it’s really good and if you ask nicely I’ll do some tricks with the tea cup.”

Xōchipilli (MUSE)
Tumblr media
Sexual Orientation: Gay
Gender: Cis Man
Xōchipilli, a god who’s name literally is “Flower Prince” is understandably the god of flowers primarily but also song, dance, summer, pleasure, love, painting, feasting, creativity and games. He’s always been and possibly always will be a free spirit with a youthful energy and a very flower-power vibe about him. He’s also heavily associated with butterflies and poetry, though not specifically the god of those things. Unlike other gods in his pantheon, he and his sister are unabashedly joyful. Also unlike other gods in his pantheon, he has a softness to him, never outright seeking blood or violence but is happy to just exist and exist happily, becoming the patron of those who wanted such things when he was actively worshiped. Because of this, he became the patron of gay people and male prostitutes, granting them prayers as they asked and curing them of any venereal diseases they may have caught.
In modern day, he’s very much the same, apart from actively answering prayers as he once did. He still revels in the summertime, dancing and singing carelessly and joyfully with his sister and is oftentimes adorned with flowers or in floral-printed clothes. He loves to party and attend festivals, and still provides protection to those who ask it of him. Over the years, he’s developed a bit of a mischievous side to him, but is ultimately harmless in it as the pranks he pulls are largely mundane and not life-altering. He is still carefree and full of joy and life, though if he is in colder climates in winter time, part of that youthful, vivacious personality seems to wilt a bit.

🎉 (Aristaeus to Xochi, midnight kiss :) )
Xōchipilli and Aristaeus had been good enough friends since Aristaeus had come of age thousands of years before, multiple pantheons having mixed and mingled over the years to get experience how other gods lived and behaved, and being the god of flowers and summer in his pantheon, he got along well with the god of beekeeping in another. The two were close enough where Xōchi would often just kiss him platonically on the regular, so when the two happened upon the most popping party of gods, they had a go-to for the New Years kiss if need be. As the countdown began, it was all but promised that the two of them would end up kissing, especially as Xōchi began leaning against his friend who didn’t pull away. When the countdown ended, it was all too easy to just turn around and kiss his friend.
