Sluggish, tired, irate, angry; Apparently that's all he can feel anymore, joy being something so far over the mountain that Genesis feels he'll never achieve it again and if that's the case then what good is it to force it or ease such a pitiful feeling unto others? It's another funk, Angeal had warned him already that the crimson commander's running on fumes and burning himself out but how bright can a star truly burn before it bursts? Perhaps it's the fact nothing was going how he wanted it to, routine thrown out of order and a dull throbbing in his shoulder that simply refused to go away, constantly reminding himself of the constant tick, tick, ticking of his mortality.

( What a waste. )

It's a thought he has far too often, wonders if others think the same when seeing the pitiful man cloaked in red even if most others shared the same broken body as his own, the occasional turquoise eyes of the puppy would linger with pity but what always made his skin itch terribly was when familiar hues of green would somehow see through his façade, only make him all the angrier at how few and far between such occasions actually happened. He's alone now, that's been something the auburn haired man had come to terms with since he'd been tossed over railing onto metal flooring and sustained an injury to the hideous black appendage that ripped through his flesh months ago. “ Good to see you too, old friend. ”

Though can he even refer to the Silver General as a friend anymore? Had they ever been friends to begin with? Perhaps once upon a time when childish idolization of the other man was far stronger than Genesis's urge to compete, and possibly even at the start of this foolish little game of his but now he wasn't so sure. There was a deep hurt that came with feeling as though one of his only friends had abandoned him despite knowing it's the other way around but the petty and spiteful youth that never quite died out had grown wrathful at how the taller man seemed to avoid confronting him, no matter how much trouble he stirred for ShinRa it was always the damned teenager sent to deal with him.

“ There would have to be feelings to toy with, would there not? Is that why you've been sending the puppy on your missions, Sephiroth? ”

With a selection of exquisite beverages and delicacies, and an enchanting performance of Midgar’s finest orchestra, the reception hosted to celebrate Genesis’ ascension to the rank of a First Class SOLDIER was nothing to sneer at.

Albeit not as fancy as the celebrations hosted for Sephiroth as well as a – in Genesis’ most humble opinion – transparent ploy to generate further publicity for the SOLDIER program and the company in its whole, Genesis chose to relish it as a decent personal victory in its own right.

Clad in a bespoke black silk suit with a burgundy tie and handkerchief that accentuated his refined physique and immaculate complexion, Genesis was quick to captivate the eyes and hearts of his audience as he delivered his promotion speech with just the right amount of rhetorical embellishments and graceful gestures.

Many of the journalists, dignitaries, and common guests invited may not have known his name prior to that day, yet Genesis was confident that he had made a lasting impression on each and every one of them.

It was but a matter of time until the whispers about his rapid progress within the SOLDIER program would morph into hymns of praise for Sephiroth’s one and only equal.

As the evening progressed and Genesis had fulfilled his official duties, his elation made way for a creeping sense of ennui, soon prompting him to politely excuse himself from further vacuous chit-chat.

What he sought from those assembled, after all, was an audience, not companionship. Art could not exist in a vacuum, and yet, it was the artist alone who conceived and gave mere concepts shape in accordance with his design, be it on page, a canvas or a merciless battlefield.

Having slipped away through the nearest backdoor, he was not surprised to find Sephiroth avoiding the. For all his fame, Sephiroth seemed to hold little appreciation for his numerous worshipers.

“So, the great hero Sephiroth was in attendance after all,” he greeted his soon-to-be-equal in more than rank with a confident smirk and an exaggerated bow. “I’m honored.”

Although he was not in the habit of breaching protocol, they were off-duty now and Genesis was neither a bootlicker nor an awe-struck coward failing to act on his new privileges.

“Gil for your thoughts?” he asked, and just like that, where there had been playful mockery mere moments before, there was a conspiratorial glint in his eyes instead.

Tilting his head a little more, Genesis absently huffed to try and clear the strands of hair from his vision that had fallen into it. Obscuring the pages of the book he no longer even needed to read to be able to quote, it eventually earned a gloved hand pushing it back on his head. Loveless snapped shut in his other hand, and he sat up straighter, uncrossing his ankle from over his knee.

Reaching forward, he lifted his saucer and cup to take a delicate sip of his apple cider, before tipping his head in the direction of his guest. It looked like both of them had finally decided to join the party.

"It's good to... Ah." He isn't sure what to make of the man looking at him, "Meet you. Please, have a seat so that we may begin."

So the long awaited pinned post for this blog.

This is the main blog of several side blogs, most of which are rp blogs. This one used to be my primary rp blog but I moved most of my muses to side blogs to keep track of everything better so this is mostly for experimental muses and ocs with a dash of personal stuff.

I go by Andy and am 21+ if that bothers you then feel free to unfollow or whatever, if you send hate I will delete it because honestly I am not forcing you to interact. If I follow you it is because I like what I see on your blog and if the blog in question is a rp blog then I want to see how our writing clicks together and our muses interact.

The absolute joy I feel at being able to share more of my Genesis headcanons in writing and to more people is so unhinged oml like the fact that Genesis is a super picky eater and certain flavors ( or lack thereof ) or textures can and will send him into a complete meltdown or how he has a very specific nightly routine and if it's interrupted without him being able to mentally prepare for it he feels as though something horrific is going to happen and that dread he experiences from it makes him more irritable and quiet than he normally is for days. He's got imposter syndrome half the time because of the fact that he feels as though he's hidden behind his charming persona to keep those facts ( and many more ) about himself unknown and that only makes him feel worse because only a select few people actually know about those ‘ quirks ’ of his and on top of that he is kind! He's genuinely really kind but he also has really mean thoughts and those make him feel awful too and while he's proud of how sharp his tongue is and the fact that he can be mean if he needs to, he's not proud of how tempting it is to let that part of him out more. Like yes he can be mean and absolutely cruel with what he says but he doesn't go out of his way to do so!! Sorry for the long ramble but I love Genesis so so much and like sharing thoughts I have and lil bits about how I portray him personally.

In hindsight, Genesis had been foolish to expect anything akin to bliss at the end of his vendetta against those who had wronged him, against the planet herself for tolerating his impending death.

His DNA may have been purified of any error, any necrotic leak that was the aftermath of Hollander’s failed experiments, his battered form revitalized by the gift of the goddess he had coveted with his last strength. And yet, when he had come to himself, his perception no longer governed by pain and justified ire, it had dawned on him that his triumph over his own defective genes may have been nothing but a hollow victory.

The life he had fought to reclaim with such vehemence, after all, was no more. Angeal and Sephiroth were both dead, his sense of kinship with those more human than him erased by his newfound insight into their incorrigible nature as well as his virtual immortality.

The lofty ideal of heroism he had pursued, too, had been exposed as a mirage in equal parts conjured by Shinra and the naivety of youth.

Although Genesis would never want to return to a state of ignorance, dulling his mind with comforting delusions, he nevertheless felt compelled to acknowledge that, where there had once been the final vestiges of innocence, there was now an exquisitely bitter pain.

He thus permitted himself to mourn his past happiness in its own right, withdrawing from the world stage in the absence of a cause worthy of his attention.

Only when the planet herself called for him wearing his goddess’s distressed countenance did Genesis summon his trusted Rapier and take to the tumultuous sky on a single jet-black wing.

The planet alone had healed him and for that very reason become the object of his unreserved loyalty.

For that reason, if she feared the alien entity having taken up residence in the depths of the North Crater, Genesis would gladly dispel her sorrows.

However, when his goddess showed him glimpses of her enemy, of his ambitions to attain godhood at the cost of her continued existence, he experienced tentative hope for the first time in many years.

“So you survived, my friend,” he uttered, his voice colored with affection and reverence as he peered inside Sephiroth’s figurative and literal chrysalis.

Reaching out, he caressed the translucent crystal with a gloved hand.

Zack, but he got obsessed with Loveless as a kid for inspiration to become a hero and gets adopted by Genesis instead of Angeal?

Oh no… sound the alarm bells, take COVER. It’s the accursed Bible of the FF7 world.

So one day baby Zack is in Gongaga’s local library and stumbles across some shiny red book. This isn’t Toogle the Rainbow Moogle??? What! He better return this to the grown up section before it’s missed!

Jusssst after a quick peek. He does like the color red.

Oops.

Zack has been indoctrinated, from head to toe. He can’t put the book down. Ofc most of it is complete gibberish… but HEROES??? He wants to be a hero now! He wants to find the gift of the goddess! Yaayyyy *exhaustingly throws away maracas*

Fast forward to ShinRa, and 13yo Zack is sitting in the cafeteria eating chicken tenders and reading Loveless. He can recite the whole book by memory now, but who cares? There may be critical details he may have missed—

“The arrow has left the bow of the goddess.” (I’m not snorting)

Zack’s head shoots up, and there’s Commander Rhapsodos looking over his shoulder. In absolute AWE. No one… not ONE skunk in this entire building has ever dared to open up Loveless.

Boom! Instant friendship. Genesis comes waltzing into Angeal’s apartment to show off his new apprentice (and ofc to prove that NO, he is no longer a single lonely crumb enjoying fine literature.)

“But Genesis,” Angeal is a little stunned, “I thought you said that Third Classes were just germ-infested earthworms eating—“

“Forget what I said, Angeal! This here is my student and he is mine now. I have christened him ‘the Doberman’ because of his black hair.”

“I don’t think naming people after dogs is very polite.”

“SHUT UP, SEPHIROTH.”

Genesis takes Zack by the wrist and they head out.

Fast forward. Zack & Genesis get SO busy talking about Loveless that they forget all about being SOLDIERs. There’s hardly any time for sparring. There’s only BOOK. Why can’t Angeal & Sephiroth just see that??? Those uncultured SWINES.

“No, you two! I have no interest in sparring atop a Junon Cannon simulation today. Run along now.”

Sephiroth watches him stroll away and frowns. “We lost Genesis to a book.”

Angeal sighs. “Yeah… it happens.”

Zack & Genesis’s #1 favorite thing to do is to discuss their interpretations of the play, especially musing about what the 5th act may entail.

“I have to be the hero!” Genesis declares. “I must triumph. I will dethrone Sephiroth as Gaia’s hero and FIND THE GIFT OF THE GODDESS.”

“But Genesis,” Zack squeaks. “We haven’t gone on a mission in 4 months. Didn’t you see Lazard revoke your status?”

Genesis glances down, seeing himself lacking his First Class belt. His pants are quite loose.

“Oy Shiva…”

“Y’know,” Zack continues, “I don’t think there is this ‘gift of the goddess’ anyway. Maybe the gift is something inside of us. Something that’s been inside of us all along!” He gestures to his heart. “Maybe… maybe we’re all heroes inside. We don’t have to prove ourselves in some big military organization and compare ourselves to others. We can be heroes in our own way!”

Genesis thinks about this, long and deep.

“How about we just resign and join a book club?”

“Sure.”

Have you seen Genesis, the man is stupidly pretty. Definitely doesn't mince words when he wants something, so the forward nature and bold approach is both attractive and appreciated. Being as unpredictable and exciting as his own magical affinity is just icing on the cake.

●●○○○ | AFFECTION

Jae tolerates a lot of antics where Genesis is concerned, but if he doesn't feel like playing along, he has been known to pick up his toys and go home. In social situations involving people that Genesis is friendly with, it can get a bit too rowdy for Yoon's tastes, so it's not uncommon to have the agent up and disappear like a tomcat down an alley.

●●●●○ | INTEREST

Rhapsodos is alluring, but never shallow nor vapid- He is very intelligent and enterprising. Jae would very much like to see more, how the redhead responds in high stress situations and making difficult choices. His desire to be a 'Hero' is a rather nebulous dream to pursue and I feel like he kind of loses respect points there, but the fact that Genesis is not bothered by Yoon's cynicism manages to write back in some missing tally marks.

●○○○○ | LOYALTY

Again, very low but that's common with Jae-hyo. He would cover Rhapsodos if needed because it is his job, but I also don't think he'd necessarily worry about his well-being that much since he see Genesis as more than capable of looking after himself. He can rain apocalyptic fire down on people, for christ's sakes.

●○○○○ | TRUST

Jae knows that their skills are compatible in battle, but he also believes that Genesis has little reason to consider his survival. If anything, Jae's wounded presence would be a hindrance and the logical choice would be to leave him behind- In comparison to Jae being smart and wanting to keep Genesis alive as the main source of firepower. Also, there's a certain COMFORT in not revealing much about himself- He's perfectly fine being little more than a casual sex partner to the other man because it's low effort.
