I WANNA TALK ABOUT THE FUCKING EISNERS-
i've been finding lately that there are so many topics i still wanna talk about concerning LO and its development and they just don't happen because i get distracted or busy and my brain is like "ok we're just gonna pretend we've already talked about it even though we haven't" JFKDLSAJFDASKLFJSLKA
Let's talk about the Eisners and LO's recent 'win'.
I've already briefly mentioned in previous posts that LO has had a lot of its awards and accolades bought for it. This is especially true for both the NYT Bestseller label (seriously, none of those labels are ever earned, it's not some top 100 list that you compete on, it goes to whoever is willing to pay for it or whoever an editorial column wants to highlight) and, of course, the Eisner Award, which is not exactly an award judged by the industry's finest (the judges this year were made up of largely comic book shop owners and librarians).
But we're not here to talk about that. I wanna talk about what happened after LO won its second Eisner.
First off, the fact that it can be nominated at all when it doesn't even really fit the criteria for their submissions is sketchy at best:
Tumblr media
see: "new, professionally produced long-form original comics work posted online in 2022." LO is not 'new'. Sure, it has new episodes, but I don't think that really follows the spirit of what they meant by 'new'. The Eisner doesn't seem like an award that should be granted to the same series twice, is my point, and that's one of the many complaints brought up in the absolute dressing down that LO got in its announcement post on the Webtoons Official IG page.
Of course, you can see for yourself right here.
But for the sake of fun, let's share some of the excerpts here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(and yes I'm sharing a LOT of these because frankly I don't trust WT to not delete them in an attempt to hide all the shit that's being thrown at their precious "baby")
While names have been censored to protect the users involve, I will say one thing - this isn't some attempt from antiLO/ULO members to brigade the series' win, there are other comic creators in this discussion as well from the Canvas section who aren't pleased with seeing LO win another Eisner when there are multiple new series from this past year alone which deserve more attention than they're getting. Again, see for yourself if you click on the link above, the vast majority of comments on this post are expressing their disappointment and you can tell from how they've been sitting at the top while all the positive comments are being 'pushed' to the bottom - the like counts say it all.
All of this, paired with the fact that LO didn't win a SINGLE user-voted award during the Webtoonies, goes to show that the Webtoons audience is over LO. They're done with it. It's not relevant anymore, the only ones who still keep up with it are the stans and those holding on in the hopes that the story gets around to resolving the SA plotline and gets its TV show (which I've also mentioned has a real possibility of not happening, at least not now when it would count the most LMAO)
It still gets more likes than any other series on the platform (for now) but you can tell during its current hiatus that when LO is out of sight, it's out of people's minds - despite many of these episodes now being weeks old, their like counts aren't going up, no new readers are being pulled in. And the fact that a series with over 6 million subscribers can barely scratch 100k likes nowadays is... really something.
Tumblr media
And that's on its free to read episodes, it's FP episodes - where views count the most because it's where LO makes its money and initial views - aren't even a fraction of what the free episodes often take well over a week to gain at this point.
Episode 252:
Tumblr media
And the midseason finale, 253:
Tumblr media
Compare it to Down to Earth which gets 70k likes on average on its free episodes (though its current new FP is sitting at the 1k mark), is LO still bringing in higher numbers than other series? Yes. But it's clearly falling to a point where it's going to be on par with every other comic on the platform in no time. I can't even imagine what it's going to be like after it comes back from this poorly-timed hiatus, when all of its official fan groups have also been shuttered preventing people from staying in touch within their own fandom.
Awards like the Webtoonies are, while largely just for street cred, still audience-based, and I really hope the fact that the people have spoken not once, but twice through their engagement with the platform - both through the comment section on LO's Eisner win and the votes in favor of other series in the Webtoonies - will be a major wake-up call to WT that they can't keep trying the same things over and over again expecting different results. They can't keep stuffing money into LO as if advertising or awards are the reason LO isn't pulling in the numbers it used to. They can't keep pretending that LO still has the merit and credibility that it once had 5 years ago.
It's like that comparison from Super Eyepatch Wolf talking about why you shouldn't take advice on how to be "successful" from Youtubers who got famous 5+ years ago:
"Say you decide you want to become a carpenter, and particularly, how to build a nice chair. Think about the kind of person you'd want to learn that skill from. Would it be from someone who has built nice chairs every day for 20 years? Or would it be the guy who built one nice chair five years ago out of a special kind of wood that doesn't exist anymore, who has no experience with the kind of wood available to you now?"
LO is a byproduct of a version of Webtoons that no longer exists. It was fortunate enough to join the Canvas section when the Canvas section was still only lightly populated, before WT started trying to sell the idea that anyone could become "rich" on their platform (an idea largely perpetuated by creators LIKE RACHEL who only became big because WT threw all of their money at them), before Greek myth comics became commonplace (again, something that's a consequence of Rachel/Lore Olympus) and before the romance genre became largely filled with problematic "dark" romances (again, see Lore Olympus).
Do you see the pattern of what I'm talking about here? A lot of what Webtoons became known for was a byproduct of Lore Olympus and series like it, because those series did phenomenally well, due to being in the right place at the right time, so WT went "hey, cool, this makes us lots of money! Let's do more of that!" Obviously this isn't to say that Lore Olympus is the root of all evil here OR that it didn't have its own merit back in the day, but if you make a series that blows every other series out of the water in stats, it's only natural for a company to want to pursue more series and story tropes like it in the hopes that it'll replicate exactly what comics like LO did, completely misunderstanding why LO did well in the first place. At the time, LO's art was unique for the platform, and it was tackling a story that was extremely popular on platforms like Tumblr so it naturally gained a crowd.
But that was five years ago. Since then, the WT audience climate has changed dramatically, as it always does every few years; and LO and WT haven't kept up. We went through a phase of BL, isekai, and now WT seems to be in an odd limbo because it's still clinging to a series from three whole lifetimes ago, especially now with so many of its other signature series either finally ending (True Beauty) or walking away from the platform entirely (Let's Play).
At this point, Lore Olympus is a chair that was nice five years ago, but has since started to fall apart - its paint is chipping, and its legs don't stand up so well anymore - and WT is still trying to sell it you as the exact same chair - with cheap new paint and a few bits and bobs attached to try and convince you that the chair is new - but it's long past its prime. This isn't to say that the chair itself doesn't deserve to exist, just that it shouldn't be given so much proprietary advertising and attention when there are so many other works on the platform that deserve to be uplifted and seen.
LO was good for its era, it was successful for a reason, but we're halfway through 2023 and it's painfully obvious that the comic and the platform's audience is ready to move on to new territories. Webtoons just needs to learn to let go.

The 2021 Destiel Favs Survey!
The December, 2020 edition of the Destiel Fan Favorites Survey is now completed! I got 340 submissions, the most I’ve received since the first time I did the survey in 2017 (this is the fifth time). Since the inception of the survey, I’ve received 1372 surveys, reflecting the tastes of those in the fandom at the time they did the survey and completed especially with an eye toward highlighting excellent lesser-known works.
On the latest survey, 336 different authors were listed as favorites! 165 of these authors were added to the list for the first time. Across all five times I’ve given this survey, 700 authors (on the nose!) have been listed as favorites. You can view a list of all those authors, and links to their accounts, here!
On this survey, an astonishing 1,448 stories received a vote!! The majority - 891 works - were added to the collection for the first time, which is absolutely thrilling to me. 253 of the authors of these works had never been listed before, and now know - they’re someone’s favorite. How awesome is that?
Since the inception of this survey, 3,544 stories by 1,365 different authors have been named as someone’s favorite. All of these works are assembled in a collection that you can view on AO3 here! (works that aren’t on AO3 are bookmarked, as are the works of author’s who chose not to accept the invite to the collection; 210 invites are still pending from the 2021 survey; if authors don’t add their works by next weekend, I’ll bookmark them). Alternatively, you can view a list of every work in the collection, and a link to access the work if it’s still available online, here!
By far, the best way to navigate the collection is to go to the AO3 Collection and use the tags searches and filters to find works that appeal to you. That said, I know some people are curious about results. It’s outside my ability to make lists that include every work, and so I do in general compile some of the data and share those who got the “top” results (not in a ranking, only in alphabetical order). If you’re interested, keep reading...

if you are having trouble seeing the links on this post, please access it on pillowfort here: https://www.pillowfort.social/posts/1967244
In the past, I've done an annotated "Top 20 Authors" list, where I list (in alphabetical, not ranked) order the authors who received the most votes and every work they have in the collection. I will not be doing that this year. I'll give the top 20 list, but not list all their fics - it's too much, and too many of these authors are the same as previous years. The goal of the Collection is and always has been to highlight the works of authors who don't get as much love and aren't as well known, and I've come to feel the Top 20 list doesn't serve that goal effectively. As such, I will instead be doing a "Rookies of the Year" list, listing 10 authors who have not been on the top 20 list previously, and a "Top New Stories" list, with the 10 most popular stories added to the collection this year.
You can see the past top lists at these links:
January, 2020
June, 2018
March, 2017
I also have done a number of rec lists based on the data, but not since the last two surveys (the collection has grown too big, and I don’t have time any longer). These are also all available on pillowfort.
All lists are in alphabetical order! These are not rankings!
Rookies of the Year! A list ten authors who’ve scored highly for the first time on the survey, and every work they’ve written that received at least one vote in the survey!

Points about U.S. Election
(As I was typing this, Biden has taken the lead in GA but it’s still not called yet. Trump will undoubtedly demand a recount so if it’s really close a recount could flip it back for Trump.)
Just a little update from my previous post on the election results, although no one cares about my opinion. Rest assured, this is purely for my own sanity.
First thoughts:
1. Arizona being wishy washy throws a real monkey wrench in the wheels of this circus train from the perspective of Biden’s bid. It sounds crazy given how the Associated Press operates when it comes to elections (being very careful to call states too early) but the AP might have fucked up. Ironically, it would mean that Fox News, the only conservative leaning major network news outlet, also fucked up by calling AZ for Biden, an even more confusing fact when we consider that CNN, NBC, MSNBC, and other liberal leaning outlets have NOT called AZ for Biden. It has been amusing seeing conservatives on Twitter (particularly the trollish, nasty, insult-slinging ones—as opposed to normal every day conservatives) say fuck you to Fox News where Republicans have been tuning in to worship at the alter of Trump for the last four years. Politics always drives home what fickle creatures we really are. This is no offense to Republicans honestly. I have little use for broadcasters with their own shows who call themselves journalists. CNN, NBC, and MSNBC are in the tank for Democrats and Fox News is Trumpland. Fox News used to be more moderate when Bush was president but that’s been a lifetime ago. Now politics are even more idealogical than they were before, and the Republican voters are almost embracing Trump now more than they are embracing conservative values. Or at least that’s what I see in my corner of the deep red South, aka Tennessee. I digress. Point is, true journalists report the facts with no outward bias. These people are political commentators. I have a journalism degree. I wrote for my school paper and helped run it. I covered the 2016 election. I’ve met real journalists at AP and newspapers. Those people are not it.
2. In other news, Nevada may not even matter now if Biden can flip Georgia and Pennsylvania (which is happening in GA and may soon happen in PA if Biden can keep the upward momentum). That would make my points in the previous post almost irrelevant now. It goes to show how unpredictable this election has been, more so than expected. If Biden flips GA for good, Trump will have to win every other state (Alaska, North Carolina, Nevada, and Pennsylvania) AND flip Arizona back to gain just 269 electoral votes. If he fails to flip AZ or if he flips AZ and then loses just one other state it’s game over. If Biden wins GA and AZ still flips for Trump  because it was called too early, then his 253 electoral votes (sans the 11 that AZ gives him) will turn into 269. He will still have to win one more state to gain 270. If Biden loses AZ and then doesn’t win any other state outside of GA he has 269 votes, and if Trump wins all the other states (PA, NC, NV, AL, AZ) he has 269 votes. If that scenario happens, neither men will get the needed 270 votes and we are royally fucked. If you think Trump demanding a recount in Wisconsin with a 20k gap (SAME AS HIS OWN GAP IN 2016, TALK ABOUT HYPOCRISY, NOT TO MENTION 2016 ALSO SAW A 10K GAP IN MICHIGAN) is bad, and if you think it’s really bad that we don’t have a President-elect at almost 3 days post election, imagine the horror of a nationwide recount or worse.
3. No one has any fucks to give about Alaska and North Carolina, still.
4. I really didn’t want to spend energy talking about Trump but I just find it so tragic that he wants the votes to continue to be counted in Arizona where the mail-ins are now turning it around in his favor, meanwhile in Pennsylvania and Georgia he tossed out lawsuits to stop the counting because there’s all this corruption and voter fraud because his lead is slipping due to the mail-ins and absentees. Oh, and he needed to move his people just a few feet closer to observe the ballots being counted, although if they’re close enough to read the language of the ballots then that constitutes an invasion of privacy. But everything is gravy in Arizona. #allvotesmatter. No disrespect to BLM, full stop. I find irony in comparing that phrase to this voting situation because Trump certainly wants conservative votes in Arizona to matter because it means something to him. Whereas, votes incoming from Fulton County in GA (Atlanta) and from Philadelphia, PA, and Detroit, MI—all heavily Black-populated cities—are being scrutinized and declared criminal. I find it tragically ironic, so I use that comparison here and elsewhere. I’m not making light of the movement by doing so (just to be clear).
Now, a break down of this shitshow:
What did we expect to happen?
Both camps thought they could win by a landslide.
Both camps have had their egos bruised.
We expected Trump to make accusations if he didn’t perform well or if he lost.
Trump already set the precedent for this behavior in 2016 when he complained that a loss then would be because the vote was rigged. Turns out, it wasn’t. And his paper thin margins were totally fine and not the cause of voter fraud and fishiness and he didn’t steal the election.
We did not expect him to go quietly into that night. The exact opposite of what happened in 2016 is happening now and Trump’s hypocrisy and immaturity is showing full force. Even some of his supporters are saying he’s whack. That’s bad, but then again, many Republicans have had concerns over his Tweets and rhetoric for the last four years and have done nothing about it. Consequently, he’s lost a lot of former supporters and I don’t even know what his cabinet looks like now. I digress.
Everyone expected Biden to carry most of the mail-in and absentee ballots and for Trump to carry most of the in-person votes.
That is exactly what has happened in pretty much all the swing states save for AZ.
Why is that?
Trump encouraged his followers to vote in-person during early voting periods and to turn out big on election day and specifically to not mail their ballots in or use absentee ballots. Meanwhile, Biden encouraged people to mail in their ballots to stay safe.
We always have some mail-ins and some absentees each election cycle but because of COVID this 2020 election means that we have had millions of these types of ballots this year, which are always more time consuming to process and count.
In Michigan alone, 2/3 of the state cast mail-in or absentee ballots. Michigan was one of the states like Wisconsin where Trump’s early lead was dashed once the in-person ballots were finished being tallied. Unlike in Arizona, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, Michigan has ended up with a gap of nearly 150k votes for Biden and doesn’t yet appear to be subject to a recount. Meanwhile, Wisconsin went to Biden with a 20k gap but will seemingly be subjected to a recount. The former governor of Wisconsin (who is in the tank for Trump) even spoke out initially and said that unless they can uncover a severe degree of voter fraud or mishandling of ballots (transposed numbers, etc) then 20k is a lot to overcome.
What has happened? The Red Mirage and the Blue Shift.
Generally, in-person votes are the easiest and quickest to tabulate. Mail-in ballots and absentee ballots take longer because they take longer to be processed. Then there are provisional ballots, which generally take the longest because these are votes from people who might actually be ineligible to vote (possibly because of residency status or criminal history; for example, if the latter then their voting rights may have been temporarily suspended).
Key swing states like Florida, Texas, and maybe Ohio (but specifically FL and TX) were allowed to start counting their mail-in and absentee ballots early.
FL and TX saw Biden having an early lead before ultimately Trump gained the lead and won as soon as the in-person ballots started being counted. So, mail-ins and absentee ballots tallied first, in-person ballots tallied second in these states. A Blue Mirage, and then a Red Shift.
However, news commentators have long been discussing the following scenario: the Red Mirage, aka, the tallied in-person votes overwhelmingly skewing Republican being counted first and making states appear to be in Trump’s favor when in actuality Biden would win them in the end once mail-ins and absentees were counted last, causing the Blue Shift (aka the current shift we are seeing now in several swing states, but also harkening back to the 2016 election when Trump caused what was dubbed a “Red Wave” when he swept almost all of the swing states. Aka, now a Blue Shift nationwide).
Why does all this matter to the accusations of voter fraud?
Prior to election day, the GOP (conservatives/Republicans) blocked certain key swing states from being able to count mail-ins and absentees early on. That means that all the ballots that were received in certain states during early voting periods and right up to election day (November 3rd) were unable to be counted until the day of the election.
This block happened in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. I don’t know about Georgia, I don’t think this happened with GA but maybe.
So, unlike FL and TX, which leaned for Biden early on and then shifted, the opposite is happening in PA and GA, and we have seen Biden take MI and WI both.
Arizona is an anomaly because although Biden was expected to sweep a majority of the mail-in and absentee ballots, and has to a large degree nationwide, in Arizona it has been Trump who has taken a larger % of those ballots. Arizona is kind of a coin toss because Trump has a lot of supporters there, and it goes to Republicans most of the time. So Biden’s lead (and possible win) is surprising, but Trump is closing the gap slowly.
What are some things that people are forgetting?
One critical thing is that the USPS (U.S. Postal Service) fucking sucks.
It was reported either on election day or the next morning that the USPS misplaced 300k ballots. They were given more time by a judge to sweep their facilities to find these ballots (how tf do you lose 300k ballots in the first place).
The USPS has been noncompliant when it comes to this and other issues, causing several setbacks and problems.
Many ballots were delivered late. Republicans said that was fraud. They wanted to stop the counting of these ballots in some places. But as long as the ballots were mailed (aka postmarked) by election day then they are still valid, legal ballots. The USPS not delivering them on time is a separate issue.
Some of those ballots are for Trump and other candidates. Not all are for Biden. So he’d be costing himself votes too, which is counterintuitive.
Now, Trump has changed his narrative to ‘we want all legal ballots to be counted’. So I guess that means he’s cool now with the ballots being counted in AZ days after the election, just as long as they give him a change to win back the state.
Why are Trump’s accusations “dangerous,” hypocritical, and insulting?
Trump can turn a blind eye to his Hail Mary pass in Arizona and possibly Nevada this year (which he lost in 2016), and he can embrace the fact that he swept the election in 2016, won most of the swing states, many of which were expected to vote Democrat, and he can gloss over his paper-thin margins in 2016, which are eerily similar to this margins that Biden is now securing.
He can do all this because he won in 2016, and because he could win AZ and NV. But, he doesn’t like that he’s losing his lead in PA, and that he lost MI, WI, and currently the lead in GA. And of course it has to mean there was fraud and corruption if he’s losing right, because there’s no way he could lose in a fair election right? Because he’s so well-liked, right?
And I’m sure someone will point out that Democrats complained that the 2016 election wasn’t fair and that the result was influenced by the Russians and etc. etc. So Democrats are now hypocrites for calling Trump out on his bullshit statements with no evidence.
I agree that the “Trump didn’t win a fair race” argument is stupid, and that has been no more evident than it is right now obviously seeing that his popularity was no fluke. Biden is close to winning the race, but by a small margin. The country is extremely divided, and I don’t see that changing any time soon.
However, Trump is not really levying any specific accusations against Biden that I can see. What I’m hearing is Trump making vague accusations against the states, the election commissions, the polling offices, the people counting, and everyone that is specifically responsible for handling and counting the votes.
What is something that no one talking about, something that is incredibly hypocritical of Trump and Republicans to not point out in light of their accusations?
Alaska and North Carolina.
Why is neither Trump nor any conservative not pointing out how Alaska and North Carolina haven’t finished counting, or how NC has stopped counting and updating their votes for a whole day now? Why is no one saying anything about Alaska only having 50% of their votes reported 3 days after the polls opened? Where is the rage and conspiracy theories about those states and their stalled counting? Why aren’t they complaining about possible voter fraud in those states and worried something fishy is going on? Where are the lawsuits in Anchorage and Raleigh?
Oh, is it because everyone (including Democrats) knows Trump is going to win those states? Do we need an #allstatesmatter movement or something to get them to notice that we still don’t have any updates from them? (No offense to BLM, full stop.)
They don’t care about the issues in NC and AL. They only care about slow counting and fraud accusations in the states where their standing is subject to change. Meaning AKA, if the vote ends in their favor by a narrow margin of let’s say 1,000 votes then they’ll praise it as a win but if they lose the state by 20,000 votes like they did in.. oh, say Wisconsin this year, then they’ll claim voter fraud and demand a recount. Also like they have done in, you guessed it, Wisconsin. So, it’s OK if they eek out a win of 20k in Wisconsin back in 2016, and it’s OK if they eek out wins in Arizona and Nevada after Biden’s current lead, that’s not evidence of potential voter fraud, but if Biden gets a 20k win in Wisconsin this year that’s suspicious.
So Trump is fine with overtaking Biden with Hail Mary passes and narrow margins. He’s fine with all the mysterious votes for him that people are “finding everywhere” in AZ now (using his words he used to describe Biden’s gains). There’s no voter fraud going on in AZ where the mail-ins and absentees are still being counted like everywhere else, despite Trump and other Republicans complaining about the fact that votes are still being counted days after the election and that these ballots are bad in general. There’s no fraud in states where Biden initially had the lead after mail-ins were counted but is now seeing saw his lead shrink as in TX and FL, or in AZ where Biden (like Trump now in PA and GA) is seeing his early lead shrink now that mail-ins and absentees are being counted. There’s no fraud in AZ because Trump is the one gaining the advantage. And there’s also no fraud going on in Alaska where there is still only 50% votes reported or in North Carolina where 94% votes were reported before being delayed now a full day.
Quick question: do you see any Democrats or Liberals claiming Trump’s camp or the AZ counties themselves are purposefully locking that state up in his favor with mail-ins and absentees after seeing how many votes were needed for Trump to win it once the in-person ballots were tallied—as Trump so eloquently accused the Democrats and polls in PA, GA, MI, and WI of doing in his press conference yesterday afternoon? Because that’s basically what he said in his press conference. He made the accusation that they looked at the tally after in-person votes were counted, saw what votes were needed for Biden to win the state, and then suddenly they just started finding votes everywhere. Again, where are the watchdogs barking about people in Arizona and Nevada suddenly finding Trump votes everywhere? Suddenly, absentee and mail-in ballots are…good.
A summary of the hypocrisy and bullshit.
Trump wanted people to vote in person.
Trump said there was no way he could lose the election fairly. (Arrogance and also setting the stage for his legal arguments.)
Trump said that mail-ins and absentees were not trustworthy and basically they could be used to rig the election. (Also setting the stage for legal arguments. Again, we have always used these types of ballots in elections and everyone knows they skew heavily Democratic so if Trump says they’re not trustworthy all of a sudden and millions of people vote this way due to COVID, then we got ourselves a huge case of fraud.)
Trump fails to mention that a fraction of the mail-ins and absentees in every state are still for him or Independent candidates and that with each update his vote count also rises along with Biden’s.
He fails to acknowledge that in AZ the mail-ins and absentees are favoring him more than Biden and that they are the reason he’s gaining in AZ now, and he’s more than willing to say that counting should continue there and to take his gains as a sign he’ll win the state. And it totally doesn’t matter that this is a direct contradiction of his statement that mail-ins and absentees are tools for Dems to ‘steal’ elections.
The early Blue Mirage in states like TX and FL, where the mail-ins and absentees were counted early and the first votes leaned Biden, were followed by in-person ballots and leaned overwhelmingly Trump.
The Blue Mirage of Arizona is seeing mail-ins and absentees turn out to be not in Biden’s favor but rather in Trump’s favor, the opposite of what happened in TX/FL (and what’s happening in GA and PA).
All these shifts in Trump’s favor in states where mail-ins and absentees have either been giving the wrong overall impression initially because they were counted first (FL/TX) before shifting drastically for Trump once in-person ballots were considered. Because those states were allowed to count these ballots early and were not made to wait until election day to start counting.
The results of mail-ins and absentees in AZ are not what people expected and have ended up shifting now at the last minute for Trump after in-persons have been counted. No one is claiming that this last minute shift is suspicious.
Democrats will still most likely lose the Senate, where they only gained 1 seat, and their only hope of possibly winning the Senate is if they A. pick up more seats organically and B. if Biden wins then Vice President-elect Harris could cast a vote for the Democrats.
Democrats have not quite swept the House either. They will probably hold onto the House but they have lost 5 (count it FIVE) seats to Republicans and the one lone Independent seat was also lost to the Republicans so at this point the conservatives have gained a total of 6 (SIX) seats. Their representatives are also leading in a lot of places so they will gain bare minimum probably 10 more seats and there are only 34 left (according to AP as of this moment).
All of the Republican Congressional candidates are performing well, whereas Trump (the incumbent Republican President) is losing, and at the very best still performing poorly. Including losing the popular vote by 4 million votes. This is stunning because normally in this situation the congressional candidates would not necessarily outperform the incumbent president of their party.
Basically, if the Democrats really wanted to rig this whole election then they have done a very shit job of it. I would like to speak to a manager.
That’s it. I’m done. If you read all of this, you’re the OG. I hope some of what I said resonates.

Well, getting the party started. I don’t think she’s a particularly strong singer.
Albania
A much, much, much better performance here than in the SF.
My only criticism is her walk to the front of the stage - needed more direction for that. It kind of felt like she did that too casually.
Czech Republic
This song just bores me.
I give them credit for vibrant colors.
But I take that away because I hate camera tricks. I’m more annoyed the second time around.
Germany
I’m expecting this to suck.
Not sure “I’m tired” are the best words to start with.
I don’t like the start but...it kind of gets better. The bridge of the song is awkward.
Ugh, the “sister” part is awful. The music builds to try to make this song more dramatic but...
I mean, not Lithuania-bad but almost. I haven’t heard four of the songs but I’m already predicting this for last.
Russia
I really don’t like this song at all. It tries too hard.
It doesn’t help that all I’m thinking of is when Sergey competed last time.
I wonder how many people watching this right now are thinking the same thing.
Denmark
Is it makeup or is she not getting enough sleep? Not as fun as the first time.
San Marino
Says a lot about this year that this is a middle-of-the-pack song.
I actually love that these guys love being here. They’re having fun.
North Macedonia
I’m just not a fan of this song. It gets repetitive very quickly. (I can’t believe that’s a criticism I’m lobbing at it after watching the “na na na” song.)
She does better with the belting than the lower register stuff.
Sweden
He started really well. I was loving his voice. But...
I don’t know. I like parts of the song but not altogether? It just kind of gets too busy for me at the end.
Slovenia
I really like the chorus of the song. It’s weird that it holds my attention for how little is happening on the stage.
Cyprus
Either they’re better in the final or this just plays different on a big screen.
You know, I think it’s that I don’t like it being played sexy. I think it would’ve worked better for me if it was played for “fun.”
The Netherlands
I hate the staging so much. Would’ve worked better with him standing at a microphone. Does he not have stage presence? Is that why he has to hide behind a piano that they don’t even show him mime-playing?
Light ball of randomness. Not really a fan of sad songs winning...if this wins.
Greece
This song feels like someone Frankensteined pieces of three different songs together. This song is weird, the presentation weirder but it’s holding my attention.
I’m laughing.
Those ribbons. Those strong, indifferent ribbons.
Israel
Don’t care for the video screen presentation.
Don’t care for the song.
Is the crowd singing along?
Bored.
That ending is just weird to me.
Norway
Ha ha!
Seriously, no way this guy is straight.
This is the most Eurovision song of the year. The beat carries the song and the singers just go for it. It’s admirable. I love them!
UK
Even your postcard is lame.
Not sure that light is even synced right.
I don’t like his voice on the verses.
Swedish guy took the better song for himself. So repetitive.
One of the backing singers has more charisma.
This is as bad as the Belgian entry.
Gosh, North Macedonia chick’s eyes look weary.
Serhat is a dentist?!
Iceland
I don’t understand how something can be this weird and not hold my attention.
Estonia
I hate the chorus.
Oops, camerawork.
So many leather jackets this year.
I hate the visual effects.
Belarus
They really brought the dancers.
I spent this second watch more or less watching the dancers. More enjoyable that way.
Azerbaijan
Crowd likes this for some reason.
Hate the lyrics.
This vocalizing part is ... ugh, effects.
France
This was a lot better than I was expecting. Good performance. (Granted, I had low expectations.)
Italy
You sure got the crappiest location for your dance.  Yeah, shipping container port.
I can’t really follow the song. It’s not bad. It’s just very different.
Sincere.
Kind of reminds me of that time Hungary sent that domestic violence song.
Not sure it’s a one-listen song.
Serbia
I forgot this song had made it through.
She can’t go near an MRI machine.
Switzerland
Crowd just roared for this one.
Oh, this is also a very Eurovision song.
There’s nothing about their dancing that’s remotely dirty.
I don’t really think he’s all that compelling dancing in isolation. He needs those backing dancers to make him look good
Australia
Time for this weirdness.
Can’t wait to see the discrepancy between jury votes and televoting.
I still hate this. The only part of this song I like is the bridge.
Maybe I’d be more impressed if I didn’t know someone who sings opera.
Spain
I love that Spain is trying.
This is a good performance.
This song is too fast though.
Former Eurovision Contestants
Conchita Wurst performing “Heroes”
I adore Mans but I think I prefer Conchita singing his song.
Mans performing Fuego; not a fan of this rendition
Eleni gets “Dancing Lasha Tumbai” (or whatever the hell it is)
There’s more dirty dancing here than the Swiss song.
Verka gets “Toy”
The gold and silver lame!
Those backing dancers in those outfits really make this act for me.
I think this was a good way of getting these songs back in while not feeling too familiar and repetitive.
Hallelujah!
This year:
No really good song.
No outstanding voice.
No ridiculously charismatic performer.
Madonna Interview:
Awkward interview with Madonna.
Madonna totally comes off like a mom.
I mean that mom when you’re a pre-teen and you’re trying to distance yourself.
The Idan Raichel Project
Just not my kind of music
Eh.
Cuervo interview
Guy don’t know what ESC is
They need to cut this interview before he backs himself into a corner
The mentalist again
This has to be rehearsed. Seriously.
Netta
Not into this.
Now I understand bringing in Madonna
Norway made me smile the most. I’d vote for Norway.
I think the crowd really loved Switzerland.
Madonna’s Performance:
I’m so used to Madonna lip-syncing so this is weird for me.
I’m underwhelmed by Madonna.  First time I’ve ever written that in my life.
This is why she lip-syncs. But, like, why the eye-patch? That can’t be good for the depth perception.
And now they’re closing voting.
I don’t think pre-recorded Gal Gadot should qualify as having Gal Gadot on your show.
Does Gal Godot need lighting this soft?
Jan Ola Sand
I wonder if Russia hacked the televoting.
Juries
Portugal gives 12 points to the Netherlands
Azerbaijan -> Russia
Malta goes for Italy
North Macedonia -> Italy (this one surprised me)
San Marino -> Italy
Nederlands -> Sweden
Montenegro -> Serbia (duh)
Estonia ->r Sweden
Poland -> Australia
Norway (Alex Rybak) -> Czech Republic? Really?
Spain -> Sweden
Austria -> North Macedonia
UK -> North Macedonia
Italy -> Denmark
Albania -> North Macedonia
Hungary -> Czech Republic
Moldova -> North Macedonia
Ireland -> Sweden
Belarus -> Israel
Armenia (Aram! He has way more Personality here than when he performed.) -> Sweden
Romania -> Australia
Cyprus -> Greece and cue the groaning
Green room
Back to juries:
Australia (Not the old Asian lady) -> Sweden (Another reason why I want Australia kicked out)
Russia -> Azerbaijan (duh)
Germany -> Italy. Oh good.
Can’t wait to see how many public votes Iceland gets.
Belgium -> Italy
Sweden (Eric Saade) -> Netherlands
Croatia -> Italy
Lithuania -> the Netherlands
Serbia -> North Macedonia
Iceland -> Sweden
Georgia -> Czech Republic
Greece -> Cyprus. Boos. LOL
Latvia -> the Netherlands
Czech Republic -> Sweden
Denmark (Rasmussen) -> Sweden
France -> The Netherlands
Finland -> Sweden
Switzerland -> North Macedonia
Slovenia -> Czech Republic
Israel -> the Netherlands
How do juries work? Is there lobbying that goes on behind the scenes? Are people just happy that FYROM got a real name now? Is the singer just a really nice and lovely person who built up a lot of goodwill the first time she competed? Was the jury presentation THAT MUCH BETTER than either performance I saw?
Now time for public vote where we see Norway cleanup LOL
I actually want Sweden to win because Petra.
This show feels so long.
Sweden green room.  More Jan Ola Sand
Reverse order points:
Oh, this is different reveal order. Usually they did least to most.
Ouch UK.  Ouch!
Predicted that with Germany! I’d rather be UK in last with getting at least 3 public votes than finishing where Germany did with ZERO from the public.
Norway gets 291 points!!!  In the lead!!!
Iceland with 186 points!
France gets 38 points.
Russia got 244 points and the lead.
Switzerland got 212 points
Czech Republic got 7 points ...... totally opposite the jury. muahahaha
Australia 131 points
Azerbaijan gets 100
Italy gets 253 and the lead
Netherlands 261 points and the lead.
North Macedonia 58 points. Not surprising.
Sweden 93

fred going to the hospital and asking to know who paid his bills and telling them he wont take no for an answer and just a warning he can be very charming when he wants to be... so they better tell him cause he'll get it out of them eventually... and he finds out it was made in hermione's name and hes overwhelmed af and calls her asking if he can buy her a shake at pops (like old times!!!) and tells her he knows it was her and that this is a debt he can never pay back (1/2)
(2/2) and that he doesnt know what to say she rly did that for him and his son and hes just in shock abt it and hermione feels a lil guilty and freds crying a bit in front of her and she cups his face and basically says what ron said to archie and that hes so good and has so much good in him and he deserves this and freds like “i dont know what to say” and shes like “its ok” and then she leaves and doesnt tell him it was veronica lmaO shady ass but she love him
This, this, and all of this.
And when she goes home and Hiram asks where she’s been, she just tells him “Fred won’t be giving us any trouble.” Hiram takes this as Hermione told him paying the hospital was their way of buying him off, so Hiram’s all gleeful.
When they try to buy the entire Southside to turn into like a series of mini malls filled with gluten free bakeries or whatever rich people build, they need Fred to be the person to rally the town at this big meeting at town hall.
It basically ends with Fred in front of the whole town like, “Wait, what? You can’t buy the neighborhood and tear it down.”
“But we brought you!”
Town gasps.
“Hermione paid my medical bills because I was a good person! And to think I thought this was out of the goodness of your heart!”
Archie and Veronica are there and they GASP. Archie still thought it was anonymous and Veronica didn’t think her mom told Fred. And Hermione runs off crying. And the whole town votes against Hiram buying the Southside and then they pass a hat around Its a Wonderful Life style so Fred can pay his own bills. (Total amount collected it $253, but it’s the thought that counts.)

One fateful day, shogi-loving elementary student, Ai Hinatsuru, appears before him claiming that he promised to be her master. But was such a promise really ever made? Thus began their master and disciple relationship!
Originally published by SB Creative, The Ryuo’s Work is Never Done! took the number one spot on the "Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi" 2017 light novel rankings. SB Creative also announced earlier this month that the animated series will air in January 2018.

In response to the threat, the Republic successfully completes the development of similar technology and reflects the enemy's attack, having managed to do without casualties. But this is... the official version. In fact, there were victims. Outside of 85 districts of the Republic there was actually another one. "The non-existent 86th district." It was there that day and night continued the battles in which young men and women from the detachment known as Eighty-Six participated—they fought in drones... Sheen directs the actions of young suicide bombers while on the battlefield. Lena is a "curator" who commands a detachment from a remote rear with the help of special communication. The farewell story of the severe and sad struggle of these two begins!

With some help from his experienced older brother, Shu, and his partner Embryo, Reiji embarks on an adventure into the world of Infinite Dendrogram. Just what will he discover and encounter in this game world known for its incredible realism and infinite possibilities?
  Seishun Buta Yarou by Pet Girl of Sakurasou authors Hajime Kamoshjida and Keijo Mizoguchi is described
"Hey, shall we kiss?" She who was teasing me with these seductive words temporarily disappeared before my eyes.
There could not be a bunny girl inhabiting a library. Azusagawa Sakuta faced a scene that toppled common sense—he encountered a bunny girl, and she is nowhere a normal bunny girl. She is Sakurajima Mai senpai, a student studying at the same school as Sakuta and a retired yet renowned actress. It was said that starting from a few days ago, those around her could no longer see her anymore, and she came to the library just to confirm this. Is this related to the hit topic on the internet, the unimaginable phenomenon known as "the puberty syndrome"? Sakuta, wanting to know the reasons behind and get closer to Mai, decided to solve the puzzle. However, the situation then developed in an unexpected way?
In the city surrounded by the skies and the seas, the romance story of I and she began. The brand new romantic comedy presented by the Sakurasou combo.
  Remake our Life - Let's time-travel to 10 years ago and renjoy creative and sweet youthfyk days
  Jaku Chara Tomozaki-kun by Yuuki Yaku and Fly is described
This is a walkthrough of life (a shitty videogame)! Life is a bad video game. This cliche phrase is, sadly, a reality. However, life doesn’t have simple, easy rules. What it does have is irrationality and inequality. The strong say that they have a lot of freedom, but the weak have no choice but to live an overwhelmingly disadvantaged lifestyle. Therefore, it’s a shit game. There’s no mistake because I, the best gamer in Japan, declare it to be shit. —However, that person, who is on the same level as me, goes around saying “Life is a great game.” The school’s perfect, strong-willed heroine, Hinami Aoi. Furthermore, “I’ll teach you the rules of life (game)”? … Normally, I wouldn’t believe in those words. However, Hinami Aoi is a character that doesn’t even fit in a normal frame at all!
    Seirei Gensouki - Konna Sekai de Deaeta Kimi ni by Yuri Kitayama and Riv is described
Amakawa Haruto is a young man who died before reuniting with his childhood friend who disappeared five years ago. Rio is a boy living in the slums who wants revenge for his mother who was murdered in front of him when he was five years old. Earth and another world. Two people with completely different backgrounds and values. For some reason, the memories and personality of Haruto who should've died is resurrected in Rio's body. As the two are confused over their memories and personalities fusing together, Rio (Haruto) decide to live in this new world. Along with Haruto's memories, Rio awakens an unknown "special power," and it seems that if he uses it well, he can live a better life. But before that, Rio encountered a kidnapping that turns out to be two princesses of the Bertram Kingdom that he lives in. After saving the princesses, Rio is given a scholarship to the Royal Academy, a school for the rich and powerful. Being a poor orphan in a school of nobles turns out to be an extremely detestable place to be.
     Honzuki no Gekokujou by Miya Kazuki and Suzuka is described

Who the hell is responsible for this? SHOW YOUR FACE!
  That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime by Fuse is licensed by Yen Press
Living alone and never having had a girlfriend, 37-year-old Satoru Mikami is dissatisfied with how his life has turned out. But after dying at the hands of a robber, he awakens to a fresh start in a new world...as a slime monster.
    Mushoku Tensei by Rifujin na Magonote and Shirotaka is described
A 34-year-old NEET otaku, chased out from his house by his family, found that his life is reaching a dead end. He then recalled that his life could actually have been much better if he had made better choices in the past.  Just when he was at the point of regret, he saw a truck moving at fast speed, and three high schoolers in its path. Mustering all the strength he had, he tried to save them and ended getting run over by the truck, quickly ending his life.  The next time he opened his eyes, he is reincarnated to a world of sword and magic as Rudeus Greyrat. Born to a new world, a new life, Rudeus decided that, "This time, I'll really live my life to the fullest with no regret!" Thus starts the journey of a man yearning to restart his life.
   Majo no Tabitabi by Jougi Shiraishi and Azuru is described
In a certain place, there was a traveler witch. Her name was Elaina. Being a traveler, she came across many people and countries while continuing her long, long journey. A country that only accepted magicians, a muscle loving giant, a youth wanting to return the lover from the grasp of death, a Princess left alone in the ruined country, and the story of witch herself up until now and from now on. While meeting unbelievably odd people and experiencing beautiful moments of some, now, even now, the witch keeps spinning the tale of meeting and parting. “Please don’t mind it. The Boston (Quarantine) Dinner & A Movie Guide (1)
Dinner and a movie is a timeless combination. And while you can’t exactly leave your house at the moment, you don’t really have to - there’s plenty to watch at home, and even more to order for delivery or takeout (how’s that for optimism?). So we’re here to make sure you’re doing dinner and a movie right. Below, you’ll find our picks for great delivery, and which movie you should pair it with - 10 combinations to keep your quarantine nights feeling fun, and hopefully, just a bit more normal.
All restaurants featured on The Infatuation are selected by our editorial team. The Boston (Quarantine) Dinner & A Movie Guide is presented by Uber Eats. In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, supporting our local restaurant community has never been more important. Uber Eats customers can now give directly to the restaurants they love at checkout. 100% will go to the restaurant. Order now to support. See app for details.

Movie Pairing: Parasite (Hulu)
“Parasite is about a lot of things: class, ambition, economic anxiety, and moral relativism, just to scratch the surface. But it’s also about how much fun it is to eat in other people’s houses. This is particularly true when you’re house-sitting, and you can pretend to be the type of person who lives in a masterpiece of modern architecture, or, at the very least, buys higher quality toilet paper. Bondir has long been one of our favorite ‘feels like someone’s living room’ restaurants in Boston, thanks mostly to its small size and homey fireplace. And while you obviously can’t go there right now, take this opportunity to mentally house-sit for a night. Order up some really well-made farm-to-table type stuff, like sorghum-roasted celeriac, rearrange your furniture so you’re not staring at the same faded Ikea chair for the 29th day in a row, and pretend to be somewhere else. Just don’t go in the basement.” - DS

Movie Pairing: Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse (Netflix)
“Into The Spider Verse is easily the best Spider-Man movie to date (sorry, whiny Tom Holland and emo Tobey Maguire). Part of what makes it so great is its willingness to both embrace and mock its historical roots (not sorry, Tobey). That’s also why Sarma is one of my favorite spots. Good things, like fried chicken, are made even better with the addition of a tahini remoulade. And not so good things, like egg salad (I know I’m not alone in this), are actually enjoyable thanks to the addition of black truffles and pine nuts. The menu changes daily, so follow along on Instagram for updates.” - JA
 Natalie Schaefer Summer Shack Cambridge $$$$ 149 Alewife Brook Pkwy
Movie Pairing: Jaws (Amazon)
“What we need in movies right now is pure escapism, a breezy two hours spent in a cinematic universe that doesn’t constantly make us anxious about our daily existence. That’s why we recommend Jaws. This movie, about an inhuman killing machine that terrorizes a small New England island in part because local politicians prioritize the economy over the safety and well-being of the general population, has absolutely no relevance today… right? Pair it with some classic New England seafood from Summer Shack and spend the night thinking of better times.” - DS
 Tina Picz Dumpling Kingdom $ $ $ $ Chinese  in  Allston $$$$ 137 Harvard Ave 7.4 /10
Movie Pairing: The Farewell (Amazon)
“My days are blurring together like the drinking-game scene in The Farewell, even before any alcohol is involved. The one thing that I am definitely missing right now is meals with my family, which always entail way too much Chinese food atop Lazy Susan tables. In the meantime, I’ve been turning to Dumpling Kingdom in Allston for some semblance of familial connection. They’ve got a large variety of steamed and fried dumplings, whole fish, and mapo tofu all available for takeout and delivery. In case you’re wondering, I tried to double my record player as a Lazy Susan, but that didn’t work out so well.” - JA
 True Bistro True Bistro $$$$ 1153 Broadway
Movie Pairing: Jurassic Park (Hulu)
“Generally speaking, it’s pretty great being on top of the food chain and being able to eat whatever we want (though there are some animals that are probably only legal to eat on a Russian oligarch’s private island in the South Pacific). But having ground the global economy to a halt and forced us to grow more hair as a species than we’ve had since 1972, this period is showing us that we humans aren’t quite as all-powerful as we think. For a timely reminder of the natural world’s ability to overcome the hubris of man, give Jurassic Park a rewatch, and then give the rest of the food chain a break by ordering from True Bistro. Everything on the menu here is plant-based, and this place has meal kits available, too. Order something the brachiosaurus might enjoy, like the polenta with vegan mole.” - DS

Movie Pairing: If Beale Street Could Talk (Hulu)
“There’s only one thing worse than Green Book winning the Oscar for Best Picture, and that’s the fact that it won the same year that If Beale Street Could Talk came out. I’m still pretty mad about it, and if I think about it long enough, I have to eat something really comforting. The goat curry from Only One Jamaican, a counter-service spot in Dorchester, usually does the trick. It’s spicy, flavorful, has a good amount of meat, and goes really well with rice and peas. Oh, and about the movie - I definitely want a director’s cut where Regina King utilizes her Watchmen powers to bring some justice, both to the racist cop and the Academy’s voting body.” - JA
 Natalie Schaefer Roxy's Grilled Cheese $$$$ 485 Cambridge St
Movie Pairing: Pulp Fiction (Hulu)
“In a world where time has lost all meaning, why not watch a movie with a nonlinear narrative in which the final scene actually takes place before a good 30% of the rest of the movie? The only problem is, you won’t be able to watch the scene where Jules downs a Big Kahuna burger and washes it down with a tasty beverage without wanting a burger yourself. And while Tasty Burger (which was actually named after the scene) is closed, Roxy’s Grilled Cheese in Allston is open for pickup and delivery. The double cheeseburger with Roxy’s sauce is almost as ethereally beautiful as whatever was in the briefcase, too.” - DS
Juliet $ $ $ $ French  in  Somerville ,  Union Square $$$$ 257 Washington St 8.5 /10
Movie Pairing: Julie & Julia (Netflix)
“When I’m not writing about food, there’s a good chance I’m in the kitchen channeling my inner Julia Child. Admittedly, I’m no Meryl Streep, and sometimes after a long week at work, the last thing I want to do is stand over the stove and bathe chicken thighs in butter. That’s when I’ll get the family meal from Juliet, the kind-of-French spot in Union Square that feels like a cross between Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking and that feeling I get when I see a bernedoodle. The menu changes weekly, but has included things like pan-seared hake and crudites with cloumage (a spreadable curd cheese). Orders must be placed online between 2-5:30pm on the desired pick-up day.” - JA
 Order delivery   Natalie Schaefer Tawakal Cafe $ $ $ $ Somali  in  East Boston $$$$ 389 Maverick St 8.0 /10
Movie Pairing: Hell Or High Water (Amazon)
“There’s a lot of thought-provoking dark humor about racism, capitalism, family, and medium-rare steaks in Hell Or High Water. This modern Western moves along at a calm and contemplative pace - which also happens to be both the way Jeff Bridges likes to talk and I like to consume food from Tawakal Cafe. This Somali spot in East Boston has perfectly crispy sambusas, great sandwiches, and my personal favorite - the coconut milk grits with chickpeas and spinach. Each bite is as satisfying as the ending of this movie, which - spoiler alert - involves White Russians and bathrobes. Or maybe I’m getting my movies mixed up. Place your delivery order through Uber Eats.” - JA
 Natalie Schaefer Coppa $ $ $ $ Pizza ,  Pasta ,  Italian  in  South End $$$$ 253 Shawmut Ave 8.4 /10
Movie Pairing: Literally Any Bond Movie (Probably Like Five Different Channels At This Very Moment)
“The best part of any Bond movie isn’t the car chase, the climactic shoot-out, or the laughably complicated weaponry. No, the best part is the veranda scene. This is the part (usually about a third of the way through the movie) where Bond and an associate meet on a marble veranda, sip alcohol served in proper glassware, and discuss a conspiracy to control the world’s supply of diamonds (or PPE). Those verandas with their flowering vines and British tax-payer-funded cheese plates are great, and to get a taste of that life without having to survive a fall from a Turkish railway bridge, give Coppa a call. They’re selling pure Euro refinement in the form of charcuterie, pasta, and Italian sparkling wine, available either for takeout or delivery every night.” - DS

Paris Saint-Germain confirmed that they agreed to share £ 35.5 million with Sao Paulo for Moura, who was then 19, in August 2012.
It came as a blow to Sir Alex Ferguson & Manchester United, who was chasing him.
PSG allowed Moura to stay with the Brazilian until January before joining them. That now seems old history, with him 26 and with Tottenham these days.

6 – Vinicius Junior: Flamengo for Real Madrid in 2018, £ 38.7 million
Vinicius is similar to Rodrygo. Real Madrid paid good money to get him from Flamengo because they saw him as the future.
& # 39; I am honored to have reached Pinnacle in football, Real Madrid, at the age of 18, & # 39; Brazilian teenager said at signing.
The attacker showed signs of promise in 2018-19. Now 19, I hope to kick it in 2019-20.

The Spaniards met the 19-year-old's release clause with Benfica, where he made 26 appearances in the Portuguese Primera League and scored 15 times, Atletico, who tied him to a long seven-year-old agreement, are clearly confident that he will continue with them.
Atletico Madrid played a masterful battle by convincing Joao Felix to join them above rival clubs
1 – Kylian Mbappe: Monaco to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, £ 165.7 million
The most expensive signing of teens in history and the second most expensive overall, behind only Neymar at the major consumer League 1 club for £ 200m.
Mbappe originally came on loan from Monaco with an option to make the deal permanent.
PSG won their second consecutive title in 2018-19 and Mbappe scored 33 goals in 29 Ligue 1 games. European glory is their next target.

We constructed a workforce utilizing probably the most underrated gamers in MLB and it is … underrated
Calling something “underrated” or “overrated” is all the time robust. The phrases are 100 % subjective and in addition considerably nebulous. How are we defining how the merchandise in query  is “rated” (RE: Considered by the plenty) and the way will we resolve that the entity is both higher or worse than the widespread view? Once more, it is troublesome.
It is also enjoyable for me and then you definately, my expensive readers, get to yell at me for the way a lot I suck. It is a win-win, so I am trudging ahead with the All-Underrated MLB Crew right here on Tuesday and going with the All-Overrated MLB Crew on Wednesday.
Some vital issues to recollect earlier than we dive in:
Once more, that is subjective. These are gamers I consider do not get as a lot credit score as they need to from the final group of baseball followers and media. A very powerful factor to recollect these subsequent two days — which many will ignore and nonetheless yell at me — is that “overrated” doesn’t suggest “suck.” Most overrated gamers are good, in any other case folks would not assume they had been nice.
An underrated participant can nonetheless be a worse participant than an overrated participant. If we ranked gamers on a 1-100 video-game-like scale and a participant was extensively seen as a 90 and I really feel like he is an 80, I feel he is overrated. A participant will be extensively seen as a 70 and I’ve him as a 75ish, then he is underrated but in addition worse than the overrated participant. An underrated participant will also be one of many best possible gamers in baseball, if he nonetheless is not getting as a lot credit score as he ought to. See? It is not troublesome.
These are for proper now. There’ll seemingly be gamers on the All-Overrated record with unbelievable profession our bodies of labor, however that does not imply they’re nonetheless superior. We’re taking a look at 2017 efficiency with our eyes on 2018.
Going again to level one, not solely is that this subjective, however it’s solely me. Matt Snyder. This is not “CBS Sports activities” rating these guys. Please do not blame my glorious colleagues for my poor style. You may yell at me through e-mail ([email protected]) or Twitter (@MattSnyderCBS). Deliver it.
And now, onto the far-less-polarizing All-Underrated Crew!
Catcher – J.T. Realmuto, Marlins
The one catchers forward of Realmuto in WAR final season had been elite-level Buster Posey and Gary Sanchez. Willson Contreras would have topped Realmuto, too, had he not misplaced six weeks to a hamstring harm. Previous these three studs, there is a cheap argument that Realmuto is the next-best all-around catcher heading to 2018. And but, such an announcement can be met with laughter amongst many alternative teams of followers and media.
Additionally thought of: Tyler Flowers, Braves; Mike Zunino, Mariners; Austin Barnes, Dodgers
First baseman – Matt Carpenter, Cardinals
Carpenter battled accidents to one thing like 5 totally different areas of his physique in 2017. He mightily battled a shoulder harm. He nonetheless managed to play 145 video games, coming by means of with 31 doubles, 23 homers and 109 walks. A perpetual pest on the plate, he was third in pitches per plate look. His common dropped 30 factors to .241, although, so he is develop into far an excessive amount of of an afterthought nationally. He’ll bounce again with an excellent 2018, assuming that shoulder is again to close 100 %.
Additionally thought of: Jose Martinez, Cardinals; Brandon Belt, Giants
Second baseman – Cesar Hernandez, Phillies
He broke out in 2016 after which acquired just a little higher final yr. Hernandez hit .294 with a .373 on-base proportion. He had six triples, 15 stolen bases and scored 85 runs regardless of solely taking part in in 128 video games. He is a rattling good leadoff man in an period the place there are more and more fewer prototypical leadoff sorts.
Runner-up: Jed Lowrie, Athletics
Shortstop – Andrelton Simmons, Angels
We have lengthy identified about Simmons’ prowess with the glove, however I am unsure he will get almost sufficient credit score for it among the many nice plenty. In a sea of extremely proficient defenders at shortstop, he is head and shoulders above everybody else. Provided that it is shortstop, his groups acquire unbelievable worth from this alone. Simmons being an above-average hitter final season (103 wRC+ for instance) whereas stealing 19 bases simply made him that rather more invaluable.
Essentially the most underrated participant in baseball? It’d effectively be Simmons.  USATSI
I do know many do not like utilizing it — and, by the way in which, nobody with a mind makes use of solely one stat — however solely Jose Altuve, Aaron Choose, Giancarlo Stanton, Joey Votto and Nolan Arenado racked up extra WAR (baseball-reference.com model) than Simmons final season amongst place gamers. From this view, Simmons is probably the most underrated participant in all of baseball.
Runner-up: Orlando Arcia, Brewers
Third baseman – Alex Bregman, Astros
Seeing the Champs get an entry on the All-Underrated Crew is a little bit of a shock, however I really feel like Bregman is overshadowed by the Astros “large three” superstars (Altuve, Carlos Correa, George Springer) and goes locations all on his personal. He additionally acquired off to a tough begin in his first full big-league season and did not actually flip it on till July. From July four to the tip of the season, Bregman hit .321/.378/.548. On the season, he confirmed a pleasant power-speed combo with 39 doubles, 5 triples, 19 homers and 17 steals. He had some big postseason hits, too, as everyone knows by now. Do not rely him out from becoming a member of the aforementioned trio of superstars on the defending champions.
Additionally thought of: Travis Shaw, Brewers; Jake Lamb, Diamondbacks
Outfielders – Mike Trout, Angels; Byron Buxton, Twins; Domingo Santana, Brewers
Oh boy. Right here it comes.
How can Mike Trout be underrated when everybody says he is the very best participant in baseball?!?!?!
Simple. He is traditionally underrated proper now. I wrote as a lot final Might he is completed nothing to alter any of what I wrote. He is been enhancing himself for years, too. Keep in mind when strikeouts turned an issue in 2014? He walked greater than he struck out final season, persevering with a development of enhancing himself at plate self-discipline whereas additionally not dropping any energy (he had a career-best .629 slugging proportion final season).
We’re within the midst of watching an inner-circle all-time nice and he nonetheless has a number of years of prime left. Many are lacking out for no matter purpose. Allow them to, however that is additionally what makes him underrated.
Buxton seemingly will not be underrated for lengthy. For now, although, the plenty of informal followers may see the .253 batting common final season together with the 150 strikeouts towards 38 walks and scoff at his relatively-gaudy WAR determine. We have to concentrate to all the pieces, although. Keep in mind the defensive dialogue on Simmons above? Buxton led all middle fielders with 24 defensive runs saved final season. Kevin Pillar was second at 15 and nobody else had greater than 10. In case you don’t love defensive numbers, simply watch him and use the attention check. I promise he’ll go with flying colours. He additionally provides extra worth on the bases than anybody in baseball. He stole 29 bases in 30 probabilities. He additionally led the majors in taking the additional base 71 % of the time and was not picked off all season. He solely made one out on the bases whereas trying to take a base, and that was the one caught stealing. He is an wonderful baserunner.
Buxton’s worth extends far past what he does with the bat.  USATSI
As soon as he begins hitting for common and chopping down on the strikeouts, we’re speaking upper-tier celebrity. For now, although, he’s a good-to-great participant who will get ignored.
Amongst non-die-hard followers who do not cheer for an NL Central workforce, I am guessing Domingo Santana will get a “who?” if his identify is talked about. He additionally hit .278/.371/.505 final season whereas being considered one of eight gamers within the bigs with at the least 30 dwelling runs and 15 stolen bases. Santana was solely in his age-24 season, too. The Brewers have an excellent one right here.
Additionally thought of: Mitch Haniger, Mariners; Tommy Pham, Cardinals; Marcell Ozuna, Cardinals
Designated hitter – Corey Dickerson, Rays
By nature of this train and the place itself, it is robust to search out guys who qualify as underrated DHs. Dickerson is coming off an excellent yr, hitting .282 with a 120 OPS+ and 27 homers. We’ll take him.
Beginning pitchers – LHP Robbie Ray, Diamondbacks; RHP Jimmy Nelson, Brewers
Look, chances are high that when you’re studying this, you’re a fairly large baseball fan. I’ve no delusions in any other case. It is the center of December and that is an MLB web page. As such, it is totally attainable you additionally play fantasy baseball and subsequently do not perceive how Ray — and even Nelson — could possibly be right here.
Let’s do that. Image strolling right into a sports activities bar in a random metropolis (cannot be anyplace near Phoenix or Milwaukee, both) and carrying on a dialogue of the highest 20-or-so pitchers in baseball. Point out Ray and Nelson. See what response you get.
My guess is this may show they’re each underrated.
Ray is coming off a season the place he would have completed prime 5 in Cy Younger voting if he hadn’t taken a line drive off the top. He nonetheless went 15-5 with a 2.89 ERA and led the NL with 12.1 strikeouts per 9 innings (218 in 162).
Jimmy Nelson harm himself sliding right into a base at Wrigley Subject late within the season and can miss a bit of 2018. This can be a big deal for the Brewers, even when many outdoors the “NL Central” area do not know it. He made big strides ahead in 2017, specifically rising his strikeout charge, enhancing his command and chopping down on walks. He turned a frontline beginning pitcher.
Runners-up: Aaron Nola, Phillies and James Paxton, Mariners
Reduction pitcher – Raisel Iglesias, Reds
The nearer on a nasty workforce is not actually going to show many heads outdoors fantasy baseball circles, however Iglesias is pure filth on the mound. He is getting higher as he continues to realize consolation as a late-inning reliever (he initially came visiting from Cuba as a starter and skipped the minors). I feel my favourite stat on Iglesias is that he labored 18 outings of a couple of inning final season, changing all 12 of his save probabilities in such conditions. The Reds had been 17-1 in these 18 video games. Simply assume how a lot of a rock star he’d be within the playoffs!
Runners-up: Brad Hand, Padres and Corey Knebel, Brewers

The Mystery of the Treasury’s Disappearing Cash
This post The Mystery of the Treasury’s Disappearing Cash appeared first on Daily Reckoning.
[Ed. Note: To see exactly what this former Reagan insider has to say about Trump and the fiscal threats from politics and the debt ceiling, David Stockman is sending out a copy of his book Trumped! A Nation on the Brink of Ruin… And How to Bring It Back to any American willing to listen – before it is too late. To learn how to get your free copy CLICK HERE.]
As of October 24, the U.S. Treasury was flush with $435 billion of cash. That was because the department’s bureaucrats had been issuing debt hand-over-fist and piling up a cash hoard, apparently, for the period after March 15, 2017 when President Hillary Clinton would need to coax another debt ceiling increase out of Congress.
Needless to say, Hillary was unexpectedly (and thankfully) retired to Chappaqua, New York. But the less discussed surprise is that the U.S. Treasury’s cash hoard has virtually disappeared in the run-up to the March 15 expiration of the debt ceiling holiday.
That’s right. As of the Daily Treasury Statement (DTS) for March 7, the cash balance was down to just $88 billion — meaning that $347 billion of cash has flown out the door since October 24.
And I find that on March 8 alone the Treasury consumed another $22 billion of cash — bringing the balance down to $66 billion!
To be sure, there has been no heist at the Treasury Building — other than the normal larceny that is the stock-in-trade of the Imperial City.
What’s different this time around is that the bureaucrats have apparently decided to sabotage what they undoubtedly believe to be the usurper in the White House.
To this end, they’ve been draining Trump’s bank account rather than borrowing the money to pay Uncle Sam’s monumental bills. This has especially been the case since the January 20 inauguration. The net Federal debt on March 7 was $19.802 trillion — up $237 billion since January 20th.
But that’s not the half of it. During that same 47 day period, the Treasury bureaucrats took the opportunity to pay-down $57 billion of maturing treasury bills and notes by tapping its cash hoard.
In all, they drained $294 billion from the Donald’s bank account during that brief period — or about $6.4 billion per day. You wouldn’t be entirely wrong to conclude that even Putin’s alleged world class hackers couldn’t have accomplished such a feat.
At this point I could don my tin foil hat because this massive cash drain was clearly deliberate.
Last year, for example, during the same 47 day period, the operating deficit was even slightly larger — $253 billion. But the Treasury funded that mainly by new borrowings of $157 billion, which covered 62% of the shortfall. Its cash balance was still $223 billion on March 7. Again, that cash balance is just $66 billion right now.
Moreover, the Trump Administration has only a few business days until its credit card expires on March 15 — so it’s also way too late for an eleventh hour borrowing spree to replenish its depleted cash account. (Besides that, I’m predicting a very dangerous market event will start on the 15th. That’s next Wednesday — please see details right here.)
The Treasury will likely be out of cash shortly after Memorial Day. That is, the White House will be in the mother of all debt ceiling battles before the Donald and his team even see it coming.
With just $66 billion on hand it is now going to run out of cash before even the bloody battle over Obamacare Lite now underway in the House has been completed. That means that there will not be even a glimmer of hope for the vaunted Trump tax cut stimulus and economic rebound on the horizon.
Needless to say, the punters and robo-traders on Wall Street do not see the coming disaster, either. But have they not noticed that the Donald is unpredictable, impulsive and reckless in the extreme; and that he might take next summer’s midnight debt ceiling showdown to the brink and beyond in a manner that the Boehner/Obama establishment would have never even contemplated?
Besides, where is Trump going to get the votes to solve it?
Trump’s already burned all bridges with the Democrats beyond repair by his immigration ban, deportation orders and Mexican Wall/border control campaign. But after his valid but slightly misstated tweet about Obama’s order to tap the wires at Trump Tower (actually either NSA or the Loretta Lynch did), there is not a Dem vote left on Capitol Hill for anything he wants to do.
At the same time, Speaker Ryan’s Obamacare Lite is already on life support on Capitol Hill, which also has big implications for the debt ceiling battle. The conservative backbenchers realize that Ryan’s plan amounts to another giant Republican-endorsed entitlement and will add upwards of $1 trillion to the nation’s already giant $10 trillion structural deficit over the next decade.
Accordingly, they are in open revolt and the coming campaign from the White House to force them to walk the plank in April will likely end in failure. That’s because the bill will be withdrawn once it becomes evident that the Rand Paul conservatives and the moderates in the Senate are both off the reservation.
Or in the alternative, the House fiscal hawks will be left seething about the blatant fiscal profligacy of the Ryan plan if the Speaker succeeds in ramming it through, Nancy Pelosi style. Either way, a long summer walk on the debt ceiling plank is about the last thing the so-called GOP “majorities” are likely to coalesce around.
But as they say on late night TV, there’s even more. Namely, when the deep state bureaucrats shelved Uncle Sam’s credit card a few months ago and actually paid back $57 billion of debt since the inauguration, they bestowed a huge favor on Wall Street.
Rather than draining cash from Wall Street by selling $157 billion of new debt between January 20 and March 7 as they did last year, they stopped the issuance entirely and actually pumped in $57 billion to pay-off maturing securities.
In a word, the Treasury took its boot off the neck of the bond dealers, thereby enabling the 15% frolic higher in the stock market that has become known as the Trump Reflation Trade.
In all, it amounted to a giant — but temporary — shot in the arm in the casino. It was a quarter trillion dollars freed-up to buy stocks rather than new Treasury issues.
Needless to say, those myths begin to die on March 15 and the screaming aberration of the past four months — that is, a broke Uncle Sam paying down his debt — goes into reverse.
To be sure, as the cash balance dwindles to the vanishing point in the next 90 days, the Treasury will resort to its normal trust fund divestment gimmicks — a maneuver that can only prolong the day of reckoning by a few months. But even then there will be a “surprise” on the other side of the debt ceiling battle that will be even more shocking to Wall Street.
Namely, when the debt ceiling is finally increased, the Treasury will need to borrow at least $500 billion in a matter of days to pay back the trust funds it borrowed from and replenish Uncle Sam’s operating cash.
In that event, the government bond dealers will be selling equities and other “risk assets” like junk bonds hand-over-fist in order to finance the tsunami of Treasury debt.
And as the man says, that’s the good news part of the story. The bad news is that not only is the Obamacare “repeal and replace” campaign opening up a legislative blood bath that will stall tax cuts and infrastructure stimulus indefinitely, but the Trump White House is now demonstrating that it will give the words erratic, incompetence and self-inflicted wounds a whole new definition.
I’ve been saying that the problem with the Wall Street robo-machines is that they can read the words in the financial news headlines, but not the political tea leaves in Washington. With each passing day that proposition is being proved in spades.
And with each new “unexpected” stumble in Washington, the case to get out of the casino with all deliberate speed becomes all the more urgent.
Regards,
David Stockman for The Daily Reckoning

Activists, Doctors Join Forces To Stop One Of The Country’s Most Restrictive Abortion Bans
WASHINGTON ― Lawmakers in Pennsylvania could pass one of the nation’s most restrictive anti-abortion bills this month, banning most abortions after 20 weeks and criminalizing a medically accepted method of terminating a pregnancy.
The Republican-backed legislation has inspired a groundswell of activism, with reproductive rights activists and medical professionals organizing rallies at the state Capitol in Harrisburg and personally lobbying state lawmakers.
Pennsylvania’s Democratic governor, Tom Wolf, has repeatedly pledged to veto the legislation as soon as it reaches his desk ― but it’s possible Republicans in the state legislature could override that veto.
Recent history indicates the bill might pass, although the margin could be small. When the state Senate sent the bill to the House in February, it passed with just two votes short of the veto-proof majority — one Democrat voted for it and three Republicans voted against it. And the House introduced a similar bill last week, a version of which stalled in the Senate after they passed it last June.
Wolf has taken a personal role in advocating against the legislation, holding events with activists, doctors and women who have had late-term abortions that would be restricted if the bill becomes law.
“We’ve got to keep politics out of the doctor’s office,” he told The Huffington Post.
In addition to restricting women’s health care choices, Wolf thinks the bill goes against the state’s values.
“We were founded by William Penn, on the basis of freedom of conscience, and from his time on, we attracted people from all over the world, based on the idea that they came here, and they could make their own, most personal decisions,” he said.
“Making sure that women continue to have the right to make their own decisions, I think, is right in line with that tradition. It’s a rich tradition,” Wolf said. “When people are choosing where to go to school or begin their professional lives or where to start their business or family, Pennsylvania has got to show that it’s open to them. This bill just says the reverse, that you can’t make your own decisions here, this is not a place where we value freedom of conscience.”
Almost 20 states have passed laws banning late-term abortions. Pennsylvania’s bill goes further by taking a step that reproductive rights groups and medical professionals say is unprecedented: restricting a medically accepted abortion method called “dilation and evacuation.”
The provision is similar to lawmakers “specifying which medical tools can be used in a surgical procedure,” said Sari Stevens, executive director of Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Advocates, the political arm of the family-planning organization.
“There is no other field of medicine where it would be appropriate for 253 predominantly white male legislators to say, ‘This is how you practice medicine,’” Stevens said. “We haven’t seen any bills with the combination of these two prohibitions before, and we believe both to be unconstitutional, and remarkably so when combined together. It’s not only an unconstitutional ban. It goes farther than many bans we’ve seen in the country, if not most.”
Lisa Perriera, an OB/GYN and abortion provider at the Philadelphia Women’s Center, said she believes the bill restricts doctors’ abilities provide the best care for their patients.
“It is a safe medical procedure that I know how to do,” she said. “If a woman is asking me to have a procedure, and that’s the right choice for her, who is a legislator to tell me that she shouldn’t be able to have that safe medical procedure?”
This bill just says ... that you can’t make your own decisions here, this is not a place where we value freedom of conscience. Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf
The legislation’s supporters argue that certain abortion procedures are “inhumane” and unsafe. They also say fetuses can feel pain by the 20-week mark, although medical research disputes that assertion.
Perriera, who also does advocacy work as a board member of the Women’s Law Project, a Pennsylvania-based women’s rights group, dismissed the logic of conservative lawmakers trying to justify abortion restrictions.
“These laws are always couched in the way that they are there to make things safer for women, and that is just malarkey,” she said.
Opponents of the bill have protested that lawmakers did not allow public testimony on the legislation, meaning medical professionals couldn’t provide their input. Many doctors and medical organizations across the state ― including the state’s branch of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Pennsylvania Medical Society ― have warned against passing the bill.
“[It] sets a dangerous precedent by legislating specific treatment protocols and would significantly jeopardize the open dialogue within the physician/patient relationship,” the Pennsylvania Medical Society’s president wrote in a letter last year.
“It just seems like the facts are irrelevant, and this is just, you know, the die is cast, this bill is going to be passed, and the medical community’s input is just irrelevant to them,” Stevens said, describing the lack of transparency on the bill as “incredibly shady.”
Wolf said he is “pretty confident that my veto would be sustained.” But given the close margins in the Senate, activists are focusing their attention on state representatives who might swing the vote.
A number of groups are planning to rally at the state Capitol when lawmakers return to session on March 13, said Perriera, adding that she and other doctors intend to personally lobby legislators.
“Even though they don’t want to hear what our medical opinion about this law is, we’re going to make sure they hear it,” she said.
