Cats (=^ェ^=) Pt. 1
summary: In which, you decided to adopt a cat, alone in a box on a windy yet cold night. Taking care of it, just as a normal master would do. What's not normal, however, is a beautiful, handsome man in your apartment instead of your cat!?!
Characters: Diluc, Kaeya, Zhongli, Childe X Gender Neutral Reader (Separated).
pt. 2 / Cats (=^ェ^=) Masterlist
Tumblr media
Diluc
You were just cooking for your dinner, as the rain wept outside, fog appearing at your apartment's window. Not long after, your cat, Diluc, came to you. Purring his way to your leg, seeming to beg for food. Looks like he smelled the food.
“ Awh, I know you're hungry, 'Luc. But I'm cooking right now! Just wait for a little longer, okay? Go play with your toy at the couch. ” You chuckled, yet he didn't comply. Still surrounding your legs with its dark red fur, tickling you in the process.
“ Alright, alright.. I'm coming, ‘Luc. Just wait for 1 minute, okay? ” You finally gave in to the cat's temptation. With a loud yet sweet purr coming from the cat.
Time passed, yet the rain doesn't seem to stop any time soon. Though, you and Diluc were already finished with dinner. Each stomach full to its content.
Bellies full with delicious delicacy, you began to yawn. Whilst, Diluc seemed to be calm and content, as usual. “ Alright, I'm gonna go to bed. You gonna come with me? ” You sat up, going to your bedroom. With the male cat following you, guess that's a yes.
You then took off your shirt, wanting to change to a more comfortable one. With Diluc facing the wall, as usual. What a gentleman, no, gentle-cat.
Soon, you got on the comfortable, soft bed. Not forgetting to invite your beloved cat by opening your blanket, with Diluc then jumping to it before finally getting to a comfortable position.
It was supposed to be just like any other night. You and him sleeping together, as the rain wept from the dark, cloudy sky.
So why the heck are you woken up to a hot, attractive man?! And.. Is he naked?!?!
Kaeya
“ Kaeya!! I'm home! ” You yelled with a hoarse, tired voice. It's now 11 PM, way later than you expected to come home. Of course your boss had to get you to work overtime solely because one employee called in that their sick.
Your cat then meowed, crawling his way to you. You can tell he's tired and hungry. Yet he still made his way to you. Poor him.
“ Oh gosh.. I'm so sorry, Kaeya. My boss made me work overtime. Here, I'll feed you- woah. ” Before you could even finish your sentence, a bag of cat food was ripped open and a little mess near his food bowl was in front of you. Did he feed himself?-
Turning to your cat, he was basically clinging onto your leg. Looks like he's just attention-deprived after all. “ Geez, you.. You're some cat, huh? ” You sweat dropped. Carrying your cat with both your hands, causing his body to seemingly stretch.
“ Meow. ” “ Yes, yes, Kaeya. You did a good job. ” “ Meow! ” “ Okay, I'm also sorry for not telling you that I had to work overtime.. ” Kaeya then fell silent, before rubbing his soft fur to your cheek. Seems like he forgave you. What a cat.
“ Now how about I give you a little kiss so that you'll forgive me even more, huh? ” You teased, before kissing his little mouth.
But.. Why did it suddenly feel so human?
“ My, my. And here I thought you'd be too tired to play with me. ”
... Who said that?
Opening your eyes, you saw a shirtless- no.. Naked man making contact with your lips. Is that.. Scars at his body?! Wait a moment. HE'S NAKED!!!
Zhongli
Zhongli has always been a cat that minds his own business. Unless you start playing with him, and by playing you mean rubbing your cheek against his. He never really played with any of the toys you bought for him, only playing with your discarded books.
In fact, is he even interested in toys? He only seemed to be interested in catching up what's happening in the world, or hearing about your day or more. Well, at least he's a good listener.
He tries to be independent. Keyword: Tries. Often times he'd try to feed for himself from the cat food bag, but ended up ripping it apart. Oh well, he is a cat. Nothing you can do but laugh.
Though, you catched up to the news that it's mating season. Knowing fully well your cat might hump your leg for a bit. You don't mind, as long as he doesn't scratch you.
You're now getting out of the shower, water trickling down your hair strands. As you finally cover yourself with your towel, you got out of the bathroom, fog coming out as well.
“ Geez, look's like I used too much hot water. ” You then chuckled as you then opened the bedroom door, expecting your lovely, furry black cat with orange tips at the end of his tail.
What you did see though, isn't what you expected.
“ Oh? You finished showering faster than usual today, Master. ”
Instead, you saw a glorious, naked man with long, dark brown hair with bright orange tips at the end of his hair. And... Why is there saliva at his penis- WAS HE LICKING HIMSELF?!-
Childe
You adopted yourself a very, very handful cat.
Often times, your cat would run away to fight with other cats, sometimes dogs as well. Your neighbor's dogs. Which causes a lot of trouble and tons of apologies sometimes. Though, at least Childe always won. Still, it's no excuse to get into fights just because of his bloodlust.
Because of his fights, he'd always, always, comes out with blood and scratches all over his body, leaving permanent scars at his skin. At this point, the vet down the street would even have a nickname for you AND your cat. Not a very proud one as well.
Other times though, the wounds don't end up that bad. Causing you to patch him up yourself. He likes that better than going to the vet, somehow. Because if his wounds haven't healed yet, he will refuse to take off that bandage. And if it did, he'd play with it, even though it has dried blood on it.
One thing you noticed about him, is that he likes to bring.. gifts to you. Whether it be dead rats, dead birds, heck, even a live bat sometimes!! You pity those animals, so you just buried them peacefully. Much to Childe's liking. At least he gets pats and cuddles from it though, still a win-win.
Now, you're just peacefully doing your work while the ginger cat is loafing at the end of your bed. Noticing that it's almost 10 PM and you still have no signs of stopping your work, he jumped to your lap before meowing at your face.
“ Meow!! ” “ I know, I know, Childe. Go back to bed, I'll finish this soon. ” Obviously that's a lie, you always say that everytime the project isn't gonna finish in 2 hours or more.
Childe, knowing that, is now going to use the ultimate tactic, the “ Rub-Master's-Face-Until-They-Give-In ”!!
His furry cheek then collided with yours, as purrs came out of his mouth. “ Awh.. Fine, fine. I'm coming to bed, I'll just turn off the lights at the living room, okay? ” You gave in, as always. You were always weak to that attack.
You didn't even take 2 minutes to turn off the living room's lights, with your cat waiting for you at the bed before you left the room.
SO WHY THE HECK IS THERE A HANDSOME, SCARRED GINGER WHO'S POSING LIKE “ Draw me like one of your french girls ” AT YOUR BED, COMPLETELY NAKED.
“ Come on, Master! Get in the blanket and sleep together, like always! ”
You didn't get paid enough for this.
Tumblr media
Next part includes; Ayato, Thoma, Al-haitham, and Dainsleif. If you have any more characters in mind, don't be afraid to ask! I'm planning to make more parts with this concept anyways.

AITA for not giving my girlfriend enough attention?
This will be long, there's a lot to put and I don't want to miss anything, sorry if anythiny isn't important, just trying not to miss anything. I want to start this off by saying it's been many years since this happened, I'm past this whole thing, but curious as to what others think because I've gotten mixed answers. After reading the reactions to the jar of pickles story, I have a feeling I'm going to get a lot of ESH and I understand lol.
I (15f at the time) was in my first relationship with a girl I'll call Elle (16f at the time). Now I had a really bad childhood, this is important to the story because I spent most of my life in foster homes and it definitely affected our relationship. This all happened right after I moved to a new state (so long distance relationship). Elle and I never really had any big issues in our relationship before this (besides the one time I was "kidnapped" and I'll get into that later). We ended up staying together for 2 years. We talked daily and very often, before school and after school, sometimes during school. All this to say we had a very good relationship (Extra: I was 13 to 15 during this relationship, she was 14 to 16 during it)
With all that out of the way, here's the story. I had met Elle right after I was moved back in with my biological mother, my mother was not in a good place at all, she moved us to a new state to start over, I met Elle because of this move. We stayed for a while before my mother got back into bad habits and moved us to another state. My communication with Elle dropped around 2 months after this move. My mother fell back into bad habits again and it caught up to her. I was removed from her care and placed in another foster home, they took my phone and I didn't have a way to contact Elle for those 2 months. Elle knew about this, I warned her when my mother ran away and when the cops showed up that I wasn't sure what was happening but I might not be in contact.
After those two months, I got a phone from my foster family and was able to talk to Elle again. We went back to talking daily for another year before the communication dipped a bit. I once again had warned her that this might happen as I was moved to another home with stricter rules. I fought to get back in contact with her again, it only took a month this time. A few months later, I was going through the process of being adopted, if you've ever been adopted, you know how much there is to do and how stressful it is. I could've pushed through and just talked to her daily but I was 15 and I was stressed and needed time, so I told her I'd be offline for a bit again. I had lost my sister, mother, and home less than a year before this and I was not ready to be adopted. (You don't have to agree with my choice, I don't know if it was the right or wrong one but it was what I picked to do)
I was offline for a month, when I came back we talked like normal. Everything was fine for a week, then she told me she felt like I was neglecting her. I would take months offline and refused to give her attention and she couldn't vent about it to anyone because she wasn't ready to tell her family about us and our friends all thought she wasn't being understanding enough. I tried to explain that I was in a bad spot and anytime I wasn't giving her attention was not my fault (I shouldn't have phrased it like that when talking to her but again I was 15). Most of them had been due to me having no way to contact her, once was me needing time to myself because of everything going on in my life, and once was because I had been "kidnapped" by a family member and wasn't allowed to be online (which she was upset with me for because she couldn't understand how family can kidnap you or how I couldn't just take their phone and contact her). I don't blame her for not wanting to be in a relationship like this, it was only her second relationship and it definitely wasn't the type of relationship any 16 year old wants. However, she blamed me for not giving her attention when she needed it and blamed me for not finding other ways to contact her. She then dumped me for being a bad girlfriend. I did later vent to many of our friends about her blaming me for what I couldn't control. So, Tumblr, aita for not giving my girlfriend enough attention?
(Please don't bash either of us too much in the comments, we were dumb kids in our first and second relationship and I'm sure we've both grown up a lot since this. I don't blame her for being upset, I wish things had gone differently. I've aged out of the system now, I'm an adult and in a healthy 4 year long relationship.)
TL;DR I wasn't able to give my (15f at the time) girlfriend (16f at the time) enough attention because I was moving states and homes due to foster care and had a month to two months every now and then that I couldn't contact her, she felt neglected in the relationship and broke up with me. Aita?

So like when Lizard is an adult and has a kid with Koby will Crocodile accept the kid but completely and utterly act like Koby is non existent and his daughter just asexually had a baby?
Crocodile is that in law that fawns over their child and grandchildren but HATES the person they're married to. He never comes around to liking Koby, but he begrudgingly acknowledges that getting rid of him now would harm Lizard so he gets to live another day.
By the time Lizard and Koby are old enough to be starting a family, Lizard and Crocodile's relationship will be pretty solid. They're both past the point of angsting by themselves and have talked things out enough to have a normal and happy father-daughter relationship at least as normal as it can be for them
Pregnancy talk below here
Crocodile is going to be praying that they only adopt. While he never much cared about the fact that Lizard's mother, Akila, died from birth complications before, he really does now. It doesn't matter if every doctor on the planet tells him that such a thing isn't hereditary, he's terrified of his daughter suffering the same fate.
But let's say that she does take that route
Crocodile feels like he's on the verge of having a stroke for the entire duration of the pregnancy. He's also being weirdly civil towards Koby, at least when Lizard is in the room. Koby mistakes this for a bonding opportunity only to get humbled violently when Crocodile tells him that he's only playing nice to avoid stressing Lizard. If she doesn't make it he's killing Koby and taking the baby.
Koby doesn't broach the topic again.
Fortunately, Crocodile does knows what to expect during a pregnancy both from when Akila was still around, and also his own with Luffy. Things like weird cravings, morning sickness, and the general discomfort of the process come naturally to him and he's eager to step up to the plate while shoving Koby off of it
All of a sudden he "just so happened" to relocate nearby and is basically a constant presence. Lizard thinks it's a bit much, but she also understands why he's worried so she doesn't call him out. She's a little concerned herself if she's being honest.
The birth is stressful. Only the best of the best doctors are allowed to aid in the delivery and it is made known that they won't be leaving here alive if Lizard doesn't. Crocodile is so anxious that he's pacing constantly and smoking three cigars at once but gets snippy if anyone comments on it.
Everything does go well, and Lizard has to tell Crocodile to wait his damn turn to hold the baby when he tries to hold them before Koby even gets a chance to.
He already knew he was going to spoil the hell out of his grandchild, holding them only cements it further. The love is instant and intense. Not quite as much as it was for Lizard when he held her, but a very close second. And of course, he's already contemplating which of his bananawani he should breed to get the best possible offspring to gift to his beloved grandchild.

Radovid Joins the Hansa
At the Radskier discord we are Goncharov-ing what Radovid-joins-the-hansa (aka: Hansovid) AU would be like and here's some of the ideas shared so far:
the exact details on HOW this happens are not set in stone (Did Radovid escape before Vizimir got offed, leaving Pip and Siggi without a convenient spare? After? More importantly, does he have the annuity??), but some headcanons are:
Art major nerd perk, Radovid knows a lot about slightly more practical things, like art, history and architecture and sometimes weird law facts that he personally found interesting
barding- under Jaskier's tutelage, Radovid's playing has improved dramatically, which is great because unlike jaskier who is kind of recognizable, Radovid can more easily go into towns as a perfectly average, unremarkable bard, making getting items/information while keeping anonymity (they usually pair him up w Regis for safety reasons)
Very good at looking dumb and pretty and quite pathetic which makes people underestimate him more
Courtly training so he's polite and educated… and good at remembering faces and names.
THE ONE NORMAL PERSON IN THIS GROUP. Radovid often ends up being the most sensible/practical person in a situation simply by process of elimination. Radovid will read a potion saying 'drink me' and...not do it. He'll see spoopy shit and walk the fuck out. He's the guy who asks who's on the other side before opening to sus knocking.
he's very bad at athletic stuff and takes awhile to build stamina, but at least this time everyone's got horses and boots so it balances out
Radovid is not good at self defense BUT does have some concept of swordsmanship/archery… from like like 20 years ago. He is, however, decided not to be a burden and not to get left behind. He's especially invested in protecting Jaskier- who Radovid is horrified to find- is even more useless than he himself is (bitch you live like this??).; Because Radovid has common sense and self preservation instincts, things jaskier is mostly lacking).
he eventually starts getting lessons from Cahir and Milva when time permits, and healing stuff from Regis. He's got excellent memory and attention to detail, but remains average at swordsmanship/archery.
he is, however, fairly good with a crossbow (no the wrist ones from TW3, the bigger ones ).
he also gets a cute ponytail/braid and smiles more! (original art by naumaxia-art)
Tumblr media
Still too weaksauce for the path?
Tumblr media
we've named him 'Faro', after a type of Cintran beer
Tumblr media
He's a Polish Tatra Sheepdog and was acquired by the group when Geralt was handling a monster infestation. Unfortunately neither the puppo's owners, nor his sheep were spared, but puppo not only survived, but saved Jask and Radovid and became extremely protective of them.
Tumblr media
I imagine the acquisition goes something like:
Geralt: absolutely not. Radovid: I'm calling for a vote! Milva: You. You're calling for a vote? Radovid: why not? is this not a democracy? Radovid: I'm of course voting to keep him. Jaskier: I second the vote to keep the very handsome boy! Angoulême: come on Geralt, we'd never have found where the Barghest were coming from without him, AND he saved your bard from walking straight into it. Jaskier: yes Geralt, he saved your bard! Geralt: fine, then I vote no. Milva: I'm not taking care of any more mutts than I have to Radovid: he's clearly purebred! Cahir: still no. Geralt: see? We are done here Angoulême: *the little shit* nunca hasn't voted yet. Geralt: *sigh* Regis, can you please tell them so we can leave? Regis: Geralt: Regis. Geralt: Regis, no Regis: *trying not to smile like he's entirely charmed* … well, he is a very handsome boy.
In the end Regis suggest they at least try to get him to civilization so he can be adopted by a good family, but in the week it takes to get to it, Faro proves himself the MVP, not only will it defend the weakest party members, but it's a vert smart dog who will deter wolves/and will bodily shepherd jaskier away from dangerous areas/items as needed.
the one and only drawback is that Jaskier and Radovid can no longer have obnoxiously loud sex since Faro gets stressed thinking they're getting hurt and will try to intervene, effectively cockblocking them.
Finally Geralt gets some (relative) #blessedsilence
Geralt: *hugging the dog* I'm so sorry i ever doubted you
feel free to add to this!
#it's free real estate prompt just tag me so i can read

Because I'm Bored: Doctors 1-13 Ordered from "Most Human" to "Most Alien"
So, some incarnations of the Doctor seem more "human" than others. Factoring vibes, aesthetic, social skills, emotional connection to companions, and then just shrugging and picking an order that makes sense, here goes:
Short Version, from most human to most alien: 1, 3, 5, 10, 9, 12, 6, 8, 2, 13, 7, 11, 4
(Very) Long Version:
Here There Be Spoilers for multiple Doctor Who Stories, the most recent of them being from Series 12 (and I'm not sure if the bit I'm talking about counts as a spoiler since it's just a thing that happens in the episode). Also this really got away from me and there are quite a few tangents in there. And because it's so long and it's very late I didn't really edit it, so I hope it's at least mostly coherent.
Most "Human"
Okay, this could be defined in a lot of ways, but based on my own definitions:
One:
The Doctor wasn't originally intended to be an alien, just an eccentric human from the future. So One isn't very "wacky". His cloths are a sort of vaguely Victorian/Edwardian normal. Because of Hartnell's age and health, he usually isn't very high energy. He's curious and mysterious, but if you didn't know from future reveals, you might not think he's a literal space alien.
Three:
This one was almost a tie. Three was the first incarnation to be established as an alien from his first story, and because he was written as an alien, he's more alien than an incarnation mainly written as a human. But, he usually comes across more like an eccentric professor with little regard for rules and regulations.
The UNIT Era setting might be a part of this. You take time travel from a Time Lord and what you've got left his a lord. He's an aristocrat who's fallen on hard times and had to get a job and is grumpy about it.
Five:
Five is one of the more cautious Doctors. He's aware of how his curiosity can get the better of him and sometimes tries to reign it in. He can also pass as human very easily. In Black Orchid, he fits perfectly into the setting, a costume party/cricket match in the 1920s. He is very traditionally British, and the British are almost definitely humans.
Five has more alien companions than most incarnations, which means that the ways in which he's alien don't stand out as much. He's been traveling the universe for centuries and he loves Earth, so he's picked up on a lot of human stuff. Adric and Nyssa are much younger and much more sheltered, so they're the alien fish out of water. Turlough has a bit more experience with humanity, but he hated it and is quite proud of being an alien to these people, actually. So, the Doctor blends into Earth surroundings while his companions either have no idea what's going on or are actively protesting it.
But, Fivey's still a space alien. He's still eccentric, and somewhat socially awkward. He misses social cues and tends to deal with emotions by avoiding them. Adric just died? Sadness is happening? Well, he doesn't know how to process and express that emotion while also comforting two people who are also feeling that emotion. So, he basically tells them to stop grieving and get back to the plot. He still feels emotions, of course, but he tries to ditch them whenever possible.
Ten:
He's often thought of as the most human Doctor. He's got quite an emotional range and can connect with humans very well. But, a thing with Ten isn't that he's the most human, but more that he most wants to be human. The Time Lords are dead because he killed them and humans are his adoptive species. But he can never truly be one of them. That's one of the many tragedies of the Tenth Doctor.
Ten is more overtly quirky than the Doctors listed before him. He talks a mile a minute, he's easily distracted, and he can say some very silly things. He's the guy who gave as "wibbly wobbly timey wimey". He's the first Doctor on this little list to regularly seem too weird to pass for human, though he still can when he's really committed to it.
Nine:
I honestly wasn't sure where to put him. He has a less quirky appearance than most Doctors, with his leather jacket not being out of place in a modern setting.
But, he's still very quirky with an added element of being unstable and more emotionally distant than Ten. He's a bit more cynical about the universe, having just come out of a war.
Honestly, 9 and 10 sort of tie. They're both human and alien to around the same degree in different ways.
Twelve:
Twelve changes a lot throughout his run, so it was hard putting him in one spot. He has the darker edges of Nine, but those soften over time and he becomes your silly professor who was in a band in the 70s.
So, in Series 8, he's a grumpy space grandpa. The first to point out that he's an alien. By Series 10, he's hung out on Earth for a while and lightened about. Strangely, he feels more human when he's being silly than when he's being serious.
There's also the added element of Moffatisms, which aren't exclusive to Moffat, but they are elements of the show that became more prominent around 2010. The Moffat Era had the Doctor as more genuinely socially awkward than before and more likely to view that as a problem. It feels like the bit where the Doctor's an alien but he's spent centuries around humans so he knows the basics at least was sorta lost.
Even though I called this a Moffatism, this trend only became more noticeable after Moffat left. We'll get there when we get there.
Six:
The only reason Six isn't higher on the alien scale is his darker, more violent edge. It doesn't feel very alien. But, Six is probably the most alien-looking Doctor.
Six is great at pissing people off, sometimes on purpose and sometimes not. But, even in the TV episodes that usually had weak scripts, you could still see how much he cared.
When I think of the Doctor being socially awkward, I often think of The Mysterious Planet, of all stories. Basically, Peri has a bit of an existential crisis over realizing that she's on a far future Earth and that Earth won't last forever. Six has a little speech about how everything ends at some point. It's not very comforting, but you can tell from his tone that he intended it to be. As a centuries-old time traveller, the fact that everything ends isn't quite that big a deal. You can just go back in time to before the world ended. But Peri, though she's been traveling with the Doctor for a while, is still a regular human from 1984, of a single time and place where time travel doesn't exist. So when something ends, that's it. The Doctor understands that Peri is upset and he wants to comfort her, but he doesn't understand her feelings enough to succeed at it. It's a great little moment from one of the more "meh" stories of the era.
So, there's the Doctor being an alien depicted in a slightly more subtle way, underneath the loud technicolor dream coat.
Eight:
A while ago, I made a post that sorted the Doctors into three loose categories. One of them was called something like Wacky, Zany, Silly, Fun-Time War Criminal. All the Doctors I'll talk about as the most alien are in that category. Eight is the most alien incarnation to not be in that category. Eight is a romantic, heroic type, who also happens to basically be a puppy with the zoomies for whatever parts of the TV Movie he doesn't have amnesia in.
I haven't seen a lot of Eight, so I don't have much else to say. He gets more seriously later on, because of the Time War and several companions dying. There's also a difference between the Eight Doctor Adventure novels and the Big Finish audios. Big Finish is where a lot of the "Eight gets more serious" arc happens. Both series have the overall plot of "the puppy is kicked repeatedly by absolutely everything". The EDA Doctor is traumatized by it and that's another thing that triggers an amnesia arc, but he remains upbeat when he isn't suffering The Horrors. BF Eight grows more cynical over time.
Two:
The Most Human of the Most Alien. He's very silly and very energetic. He plays the recorder and behaves in a way that often feels half-child/half-grandma. He's the template that all the other Wack, Zany, Fun-Time alien Doctors are built from.
So why's he the most human of that category?
Two actually has a unique skill. Though many incarnations of the Doctor can be manipulative, or use their understanding of people to accomplish their goals, Two is the most socially intelligent Doctor. He acts silly because he likes being silly, for the most part. People underestimate him, which can be useful. But, his more serious moments show a side to him that, though he doesn't act like a normal human, he understands humans, as individuals and as a species, very well.
Compare that scene from The Mysterious Planet I mentioned earlier to The Tomb of the Cybermen. Victoria is a knew companion who only became a companion because she'd otherwise have been stranded on Skaro. She's also just become an orphan. The Daleks killed her father. So, though she's trying her best, she's obviously not doing very well. The story stops for a moment and the Doctor talks to Victoria and what he says actually comforts her. While Six couldn't understand Peri's existential crisis, Two can understand grief, losing family, and being forced to leave home. So, he's able to emotionally connect with Victoria in a way Six couldn't with Peri, even though he wanted to.
Two's emotional intelligence gives him a strong human side, or at least a side that can relate to humanity.
Thirteen:
She's quirky. Very, very quirky. She has no attention span and often just does things. Chibnall takes the Moffat Era social awkwardness even further. Thirteen is self-aware and obviously insecure about not relating to her companions socially. She's also one of the more secretive incarnations, so she sometimes just refuses to connect with her companions, but even when she wants to connect with them, it often feels like there's a barrier between them.
Some of this is, at least as I perceive it, the result of consistent writing problems. Basically every writer of this era had difficulty distributing lines between the three companions and making sure everyone had something to do. Unless the plot had stopped for the characters to talk about their feelings, the companions tended to all fall into the stock "what's happening, Doctor?" role. I get the feeling that people who like these characters, and there are people who love these characters, love them for the fleeting moments when they get to be characters, when there's nothing else going on. Yaz stands out when she's talking to the Doctor on the beach, trying to sort out romantic feelings, but not when she's one of three companions in the middle of some Alien Bullshit.
But, you often don't get the "what's happening, Doctor?" Many scenes of exposition involve the Thirteenth Doctor thinking aloud, asking herself questions and answering her own questions, while three other people just stand there and wait to be addressed. Of course the Doctor is going to seem distant from her companions when she's talking to herself most of the time they're around.
Thirteen's social awkwardness actually led to a somewhat infamous moment in Can You Here Me, where Graham talks about having cancer and his fear that it might come back someday...and the Doctor straight up admits to being too socially awkward to know what to say in this situation and there's a complete tonal whiplash from Graham's serious talk about cancer to a "Doctor is socially awkward" joke, as if the seen was getting to heavy and the writer was desperate to change the subject.
A lot of people complained about this and the defense basically amounted to "It's not that the Doctor doesn't care about Graham. She just doesn't always know what to say.". My problem with it isn't that she didn't know what to say, but that she didn't try. Again with The Mysterious Planet. Six was also socially awkward and didn't know what to say to comfort his companion, but he tried. It didn't work, but he tried. And there wasn't a tonal whiplash, since Six not understanding why Peri's upset wasn't being playing as a joke. Thirteen can be socially awkward. She can admit to being socially awkward. But, what you had in that scene with Graham was a poorly timed joke that, because the show tried to lighten the mood, made it feel like Thirteen wasn't taking things seriously. That clearly wasn't the intent, but that's what felt so wrong to so many people.
So, she's about as far from Two as you can get in terms of social skills.
But, the fact that she is so self-aware, insecure in a way that previous incarnations weren't, feels like a very human trait. So despite everything I've had to say, she's still just shy of the top three.
Eleven
Quirky Moffatisms at full force. He is silly, acts like a child, comes with several wacky catchphrases, and sales of bowties in the real world increased about he said they were cool. That was supposed to be weird but the world changed for him.
Eleven is better at connecting to his companions than Thirteen, so I wasn't quite sure which to put first, but Eleven has more in common with the two I haven't gotten to yet. Thirteen didn't really have the confidence to pull of the "angry god" thing that some incarnations, especially in the the new series, sometimes do. She had her lapses in sanity and could be downright cruel during those lapses but it felt more like "the Doctor is having a bad day" than "Do Not Piss Off This Eldritch Horror". When Eleven snapped, it felt like the Wrath of God. No human could really do that.
There's a reason I call this one category of Doctor the Wacky, Zany, Fun-Time War Criminal. They're the silliest Doctors, but also the ones that are the scariest when angry.
Eleven is heavily inspired by Two, but I also tend to see him as combining traits of Seven and Ten. He's high energy and high intensity like Ten.
As for Seven, who was also based on Two, well, there are Eleventh Doctor moments that are basically their own versions of Second and Seventh Doctor moments. Victory of the Daleks has the "Daleks pretend to serve humanity to win their trust so they can take over" lifted from The Power of the Daleks, but while Two was scared of the Daleks, Eleven was enraged. In Two's case, it was because this was his first story. One rarely expressed fear quite this openly, which made it clear that 1. Two is different from One and 2. Daleks are serious business. For Eleven, it was something of a rehash of Nine torturing a Dalek in Dalek. Victory of the Daleks is made up of little moments stolen from better stories.
However, a deliberately similar moment isn't necessarily stolen. Sometimes, it creates another opportunity to compare and contrast. So, let's talk about Seven.
Seven
He's got all the clownish behavior of Two and Eleven, but he comes across as more alien from his tendency to act like a supervillain from time to time. It's all part of the plan and sometimes he screws his friends over along the way. Of course he still cares. Ace is still his Space Daughter. But, sometimes sacrifices have to be made to save the universe...
So, we did a Two vs. Six. vs. Thirteen on the subject of Comforting Companions. Now it's Two vs. Seven. Eleven in Betraying Companions.
Okay, not really. But the companions are made to feel betrayed, whatever the intentions behind it were.
The obvious two to compare are The Curse of Fenric and The God Complex. This is one of the more obvious "new who just does a classic scene" moments. Both stories have a reoccurring theme of faith, which has an effect on the Monster of the Week. The Curse of Fenric has one of the many varieties of Doctor Who Vampire that are repelled by faith. It turns out that the sign of the cross only worked on vampires because it was used by devout Christians. Any sort of faith works. A Soviet soldier repels vampires with a hammer and sickle badge because of his faith in Communism. The Doctor starts listing the names of past companions to repel them because he has faith in his friends.
Jumping over to The God Complex, we have a sort of Minotaur thing that eats faith. There's this weird prison hotel thing where people are shown their worst fears. Everyone has a room with a fear in it. Except for Rory. He's experienced all the Horrors and came back from the dead so many times that he doesn't care anymore. People who have some sort of faith tend to think of that faith when scared for their lives. So, the fear leads to faith, the Minotaur converts that faith into worship of the Minotaur and then it kills people.
The Doctor, Amy, and Rory end up in the prison hotel with a group of other random people. There's a gambler who believes in luck, a conspiracy theorist, a Tivolian, who are a culture of strategic cowardice, and his faith in his oppressors oppressing him, and a sane woman who is a devout Muslim. They all get picked off one by one.
Then we have the companions. Eleven has two with him, but Rory just kind of hangs back for this one. You have Ace and Amy. A names are apparently unlucky.
As companions who jumped at the chance to be companions, Ace and Amy have faith in the Doctor. In The Curse of Fenric, you'd think this would be a good thing, since it keeps the vampires away, but because of Reasons it becomes necessary to turn the faith off to save the universe. In Amy's case, her faith is putting her at risk of getting eaten by a minotaur.
So, the Doctor has to break his companion's faith in him.
But I also mentioned Two, so let's derail things even further to talk about The Evil of the Daleks. It's not as direct of a comparison, but I want to bring it up because the Doctor betrays a companion's trust and challenges his faith in him. In this case, it's Jamie. The Doctor tricks him into taking part in a Dalek experiment to discover the Human Factor, all the things that make humans special, so they can understand the people who keep beating them.
The Evil of the Daleks softens the blow. We see the build-up to the Dalek experiment from the Doctor's perspective. The Daleks demand that Jamie be used in the experiment. The Doctor asks why it has to be him and not some other human. The Daleks say that traveling in time makes Jamie unique. The Doctor asks why they can't just to the experiment on him, and since a later plot point in this serial is dependent on the Doctor NOT being human, I'm going to just say he was lying here. The Doctor's traveled in time too much, apparently.
So, the Doctor did everything he could to keep Jamie out of it, including lying to put his own life on the line. This was an absolute last resort and the Doctor tries to make the most of.
But, Jamie wasn't present for any of this, so all he knows is that the Doctor put his life on the line working with the bad guys.
So, it's not quite the same as the later Faith Breaking stories. The Evil of the Daleks feels more like a misunderstanding.
So we go back to Seven and Eleven. Seven breaks Ace's faith by claiming not to care about her, that he was just using her this whole time, and that he doesn't care if she dies. It's absolutely brutal. With Eleven, it's more about recklessness and incompetence. He failed to protect Amy. He let her down. He put her in danger knowingly, because he likes having companions and he cares more about having their company than about their safety. He keeps talking people into running off with him to see the universe, only for terrible things to happen because it wasn't safe. The Doctor knows it isn't safe, but he just can't stop endangering people's lives. It's more complicated, a deconstruction of the Doctor/Companion dynamic, but it seems like a last minute confession, like the Doctor is breaking down in the face of losing another companion. In the end, he did deliberately say what he needed to to break Amy's faith, but it doesn't seem quite so cold.
Eleven doesn't usually have master plans. He's just willing to get very dark in certain situations. Seven plans ahead, so you can't know just how long he was planning to emotionally destroy the teenager he sort of adopted. That also adds to the brutality. Ace's faith in the Doctor is more like a child's faith in a parent. Eleven was Amy's imaginary friend who turned out to be real, so it's a more abstract faith.
Okay, I've gone on an on and on about so many things. Let's wrap this up.
Four
Four is big and loud. His hair, his eyes, his teeth, his impressively long scarf...You can't not pay attention to him. He looks a bit silly, but he can also be a little intimidating. You have all the quirkiness of the Doctors we already mentioned, but with an added sense of authority. Everywhere he shows up, he just sort of takes over. Two and Seven will just blend into places at times, put Four doesn't need to. He walks in, offers people jelly babies, and starts asking about what's going on. People tell him. It's refuge in audacity. People are too confused to even ask questions and they just start following along.
If you take the idea of a renegade Time Lord: There's a powerful species of aliens and this one went rogue to travel the universe and help people, Four perfectly fits. He's authoritative, like you'd expect a powerful person to be, weird and distant from humans, as you'd expect an alien to be, and chaotic, like you'd expect someone acting in defiance of the ultimate Lawful Neutral Bordering on Evil.
Four is alien in a very specific way that might be the entire show, so yeah, he's the Most Alien Doctor.
This thing's really fucking long I'm sorry...

Brother
One shot of Kaida and Noah (from @finn-m-corvex)!! This au has possessed my mind and made me really want to write something after reading Finn's amazing one shot. Chronologically this would be a continuation (not relevant, but at least in this one Jay hasn't recovered his memories).
I will publish the next chapter of Lighting Pin soon, these weeks I have been with exams and for some reason the third chapter has been quite heavy to write.
(also sorry for any spelling mistakes, English is not my first language!)
Words: 2.9k
TW: implied child abuse.
Living in the monastery is weird. Kaida feels like an outsider and that sucks.
It's weird because there are times she's too aggressive to let her guard down for a fucking second and stop yelling at any of these people. It's weird because sometimes she allows herself to stop and think about how screwed the Administration was with the rest of the world, that these kids here weren't ordered to kill from a young age or that they've never washed someone else's blood under their fingernails. That there are things that she thought were normal and when she says them out loud she realizes that they were not.
Sometimes she feel like a rabid dog that just wants to bite something and not let go, she feel like if any of them talk to her the first thing they will say will be an insult or something hurtful. She is angry at how things have changed, that her father is no longer hers, that there is no normality to return to because there never was one.
And when Tessa tells her how her father treated her and Noah, that anger doesn't diminish. Not when she knew every word was true.
It was hard to process… that. Especially when her Jay would probably set the world on fire before letting something bad happen to her. When he preferred to stay in the Administration despite all the bad things that happened there, the bad things that they had to do in their job, just so as not to lose her.
They had never talked about it, she didn't even know how he would react if she told him, but she was sure that the reason the Administrator had let him adopt her was solely so that he would stay there. Have two elemental masters nearby. It had worked well she supposed.
After her training, she enters the monastery dining room once she saw that it was partially clear. Only Noah was there, lying on an couch reading a book with complete concentration. She didn't have as much trouble talking to him compared to the others. He was calm in a way the others weren't and he wasn't actively trying to make her angry like Jenna.
"What are you reading?" She asks, raising her voice, a few steps behind the couch where he was.
She had been trying to talk to them more, to build a relationship that wasn't based on her speaking sarcastically to them, to be more empathetic as Jay liked to say. It was an effort, but she felt like she should at least try.
The boy looks up, startled by her presence, smiling friendly in a rather familiar way as he gestures to his book.
“Hey, Kaida! I was working on some ideas for a future project. You want to see?" He says in a kind and jovial voice. It was quite difficult for her to believe how he and Tessa could be so calm, have so much patience with what they had had to suffer. How could they make it look so easy? She supposed it was something that came with having siblings.
Kaida nods somewhat uncertainly, and he holds out the book for her to see, a few scribbles and paragraphs of engineering terminology written on the pages that seemed to be some time old.
She can't help but roll her eyes while huffing. She shouldn't be surprised that half of them were so passionate about inventing. “A mech. You really like these mechanical things, huh?”
Noah raises an eyebrow curiously, not responding to the mockery. “Do you know how to read Ninjargon?” She nodded vaguely with disinterest as she continued searching through the notes for some idea similar to a weapon or a ship. "I had no idea. Although it makes sense I guess…”
She didn't miss the way his tone fell at the end. It was easy to read between the lines. Hoping it wouldn't show, she clears her throat. “Yeah, actually, I have quite a collection of books from here. They are better than any shit from the Administration. Especially the animal ones.”
His face lights up with a smile, he brushes away the blue locks that fell from his forehead as he sits up slightly. "I also like them a lot! What’s your fav-?”
His tone is suddenly cut off when a voice interrupts him from behind them.
“Hey, kiddo.”
Both she and Noah turned their gaze toward the door. Jay enters at a brisk pace while giving her a half smile. She doesn't miss the way Noah tenses next to her at the sound of his voice.
That moves something red and burning in her chest and she pushes it down, remembering Tessa's words. She couldn't blame them.
“Hi, old man.” Kaida waves mockingly, hoping the worried look she gives the boy next to her wasn't obvious. It seemed like he could run away at any moment.
“How was your training?” he asks and she's grateful that in that moment he keeps his distance and doesn't get too close to where they were. She felt stupid for not realizing why sooner, but Noah never liked being in the same room with him for long.
Kaida glances at him carefully, gauging his withdrawn expression before turning to Jay as she takes a few steps forward.
“Well, I still insist that target practice is better.” She jokes, although she actually meant it half seriously. She wasn't used to fighting for so long without using a weapon or her powers, physical strength had never been one of her advantages. The fights had to end quickly in her opinion.
But she had also been able to talk to Tessa more, which ultimately must have been something.
Jay laughs softly while rolling his eyes. “If you want, early tomorrow we can do target practice in the yard.”
She smiles. “Don't you think the green one would be against that idea?”
He frowned half defensively as he snorted arrogantly. “Well, he's not my leader.” And that's when he scans the room, paying attention to the boy on the couch for the first time. Jay's gaze lingered on Noah for a moment, no doubt noticing the boy's rigid posture, the way he had deliberately turned his eyes to his book, how he avoided looking at him or making the slightest sound whenever he spoke.
His brow furrows slightly, and for a few seconds, he opens his mouth as if he wants to say something, struggling with the words with a slurred sound.
However, in the end he just sighs dejectedly and mutters a few words under his breath.
“Let me know if you need anything.” He murmurs, keeping his voice deliberately calm. His hand absentmindedly pats her shoulder as he passes, giving the other teen one last look before he leaves.
She nods firmly, waiting for him to leave the room before turning around and walking over to where the other boy was. He was hunched over, his black hair completely covering his eyes as he read his old book. Although it seemed more like he was glaring at the pages more than reading them.
"Hey." She calls, attracting his attention. Kaida took a deep breath before saying. “You don't have to be afraid of him, you know. He’s not going to hurt you.”
Noah frowns with a small inhale, his mouth opening and closing a few times as he lowers his gaze. His fingers absentmindedly run through the pages of his notebook.
“It's… complicated, Kaida.” He whispers, almost as if he was preparing for her to fight and argue like he had with Tessa. His body was so stiff that he was practically shaking as he crumpled in place. “I don't think you understand. You don’t want to hear about this.”
She didn't really want to hear about it, what Tessa had said had been too much. She might as well have taken that as a sign to continue on her way and mind her own business.
But she didn't want them to continue being afraid of Jay either. Especially when he could definitely tell, and she already knew he was dealing with too much shit right now.
Instead of leaving, she makes a sympathetic face, hesitating for a moment before sitting down in one of the other chairs. Her hands clenching together as she absentmindedly pulled at her cuticles.
“Tessa told me about your timeline.” she murmurs, trying not to make her voice sound as sharp or harsh as she felt. She had noticed that he didn't like it when she and Jay spoke loudly, which was all the time because they were both terrible at speaking softly. Noah's gaze clears with understanding and wonder as he sits up straighter. “I'm sorry about what happened to your parents.”
He seems to bite his tongue and his own voice, running a hand through his hair several times between slow breaths.
“He never tried to be my father.” He says in a heavy voice, slurring his words. His tone is calm, however, there's more resignation than anger than she expected and she didn't know what to do about. “All he did was… make things worse. For me and Tessa. He didn't even care when he hurts us or-“ he cuts himself off as he shook his head in regret. "No, I'm sorry. You don’t want to hear this, kid.”
She frowns, trying to think clearly as she spoke. “If you want to talk about it, I can handle it.” Her eyes dart back in the direction Jay had gone before looking back at him. “Jay is not like that. He wouldn’t hurt you, much less want you to be afraid of him.”
He shakes his head slightly. “I just don't think I'm ready to give him that chance.”
Kaida took a deep breath as she bit her lip nervously. She knew he wasn't winning any awards for emotional talks and she appreciated the infinite patience this boy had in handling her pathetic attempt.
“Look- Noah, I'm telling you this, because I know how you feel.” she explains, the words something bitter that she spits into the air with difficulty. “I know what it's like to be… scared like that.”
He looks at her uneasily, looking her up and down intensely. Looking genuinely confused as he cleared his throat with halting words. "How?"
“It wasn't Jay, if that's what you think.” she assures with a rigid tone. The scars on her eyebrow stung with a burning sensation, the memory of the grip of a gun crossing the air, and she absentmindedly scratches them as she looked away.
She hears him sigh in relief before starting to speak. "But then, what-"
She cuts him off with a sharp sigh, speaking quickly as she waved a hand in the air.
"I, um, I grew up in an orphanage, you know? And it was a military orphanage, so it was double shit." "She explains, clicking her tongue between the pauses in her words. As if she had a mouth full of cotton." "They trained us to be agents. Soldiers." She could hear him swallowing hard, swallowing whatever words he wanted to say, but he doesn't speak. “And the people there didn't treat the children well. We were supposed to be tough and disciplined. They did not tolerate mistakes and they had their… methods to make us obey them.”
Noah looked at her intensely the same way Jay did when she said things like that. When she was a fucking mess who bit the hand of anyone who came near, when her first instinct for any mistake was to run because she didn't know what the punishment would be.
She can imagine what it must be like for Tessa and Noah and it doesn't help her calm the knot of anger that coils in her throat and chest. It was one thing for the stupid Administration guards to give her a scar on her face because of her intelligent mouth, but for their father to do things like that to them? That made her stomach turn.
She makes a sudden gesture with her hand, trying to downplay it, so that it doesn't show how much that look affects her. “I'm just saying, I'm still- I'm still dealing with it. Being distrustful of people. Or- “she takes a breath before continuing. "-being afraid all the time."
Noah purses his lips, his face pale as he rubs his eyes, a tired expression that underlines everything he has endured. “Kaida, I-“
"I just want you to know that Jay helped me with that. It didn't matter if I was practically a burden, or if I was too screwed up not to get upset over the smallest thing-" Noah frowned as if to interrupt her, but she continued. "What I'm trying to say is that you don't have to be afraid of him. He's never laid a hand on me. And I know he wouldn't do it to you either."
He is silent for a moment before speaking. “It's just… it's harder than it looks. It's too much. For me and Tessa. It doesn’t help that he- well, he doesn’t even remember Nya or the others.”
Kaida grimaces, rubbing her hands restlessly. “Yeah, I don't think I'm helping with that.”
Noah frowns immediately as he shakes his head a few times again. "It's not your fault."
“Yeah, but I'm not making it any easier either, right?” she snorts harder than she intended. It takes her a moment to catch her breath again between her teeth. Noah looks at her attentively and not for the first time, she wondered where he got the desire to stay and listen to what she had to say. She wasn't good at this. She clears her throat, eyes closed. “I don't want to pressure you to see him as- you know. Just give him a chance. And, uh-” her tone stumbles stiffly and struggles to keep her words steady and not shake pathetically. “I want you to know that you can talk to me about these things if you want, not just with Tessa. I can deal with it.”
She opens her eyes to see his expression, Noah, to his credit, just blinks in surprise for a few seconds before nodding. Clearly confused as to whatever peace attempt they're forming here, but taking it at least. There is a softness in his gaze that she cannot decipher and she tries to ignore it as she crosses her arms.
"Alright." She hears him say in a stiff voice and she only nodds once.
"Good." Her fingers drum against the arm of the chair several times for a moment before she clicks her tongue sharply. “Anyway, do you know the story about the claustrophobic astronaut?” She asks in complete seriousness, he looks at her blankly as she waits dramatically in silence. She waits just a second before smiling. “He just needed some space.”
If she had known how he was going to laugh at a joke like that, maybe she would have told one of her stupid puns much sooner. His loud laughter only encourages her own, and soon the red acid burning in the pit of his stomach evaporates like a cloud.
Noah interrupts himself in the middle of his laughter with a firm and intense voice.
"Hey, Kaida, you can talk to me too if you need." He wasn't lying. He makes sure to add emphasis to his words as he leans forward. "And you're not a burden. You know that?"
She doesn't really agree with that, but the way he says it sends something warm and safe in her chest and she doesn't have the strength to contradict him. Instead, she nods vaguely with lost eyes.
He gives her a tentative smile and looks back at his book, although he still didn't seem to be reading the pages. Kaida, once she is sure that no one is approaching, takes courage before speaking.
"Do you want to tell me about any of your inventions?" Her hand vaguely points to the notebook.
His gaze practically glowed as he looked at her with a dumbfounded smile. "Really?"
She shrugs, approaches him less cautiously than before. "I'm sure there must be something good about Ninjago's primitive technology, right?"
He laughs again, not even bothering to respond to her mockery, before delving into complex, technical terms about his inventions at full speed. She stays by his side, still a good distance away, but listens to him attentively while he speaks without even stopping to breathe.
Maybe having a brother wasn't so bad after all.

I keep forgetting to ask these questions on DeviantArt, so I'll ask them here.
I. Is there an age difference for Omni-Ben, in terms of being older physically but younger mentally?
II. Since he is being raised by Carl and Sandra while on Earth, what is the story for the couple there? Did they just decide to not have kids or was there a medical reason (miscarriage, infertility, hereditary illness that could've been passed on, etc.)?
His mental processing and intelligence is difference to normal humans, not because of his age, but more so due to him being an advance piece of AI. He's basically really book smart, knowing all about biology, science and all that good stuff, but due to not having much experience with the outside world he can be very naive. It's all a learning experience for him. And Sandra and Carl tried having kids and it just never happened due to fertility issues. They had been thinking about adoption for a long time, not knowing if they had the strength for it, before Ben came along and basically answered their prays. Co-parenting with Azmuth.

Missing piece of Ambrose II
Hello everyone, this is another baby sister!reader x Sinclair brothers. It’s the direct continuity of a request you can find here.
It’s basically an AU inside my AU. Might write some headcanons based on this soon.
Hope you’ll enjoy.
Warnings: one or two strong words, Bo being too much as usual, morally grey reader.
Your knee was still painful but you were comfortably laying on the couch now. You were safe and could relax. You were still processing everything that was happening as your brothers were taking care of your adoptive one and his friends. You knew something was wrong with you because you weren’t afraid or disgusted by that. The thought that they were going to get killed and turned into wax sculptures didn’t make you feel anything at all actually. The happiness to finally be back home was too overwhelming to feel anything else anyways. You were finally being lucky in your life, you wanted to believe it. Yes, you deserve some happiness too.
You looked around yourself, taking in every little detail surrounding you. It was a nice house that you could call home now. Yes, you finally had a home in which you were going to be taken care of. You were certain your brothers were going to be good to you. Of course, a little voice inside your head was telling you that maybe Bo did hurt you on purpose all those years before and that he was going to end the job soon. But even if it was true, it would be worth your current happiness. You didn’t care about the past, you didn’t care about the future, all that mattered was now. You weren’t alone anymore and you were wanted. It was going to be okay.
After a little while, you heard the front door being opened. You froze and hoped it was one of your brothers and no one else. You stayed silent until a heavy accented voice called for you. You relaxed once again as you recognised Lester’s voice.
“On the couch!” You called back and soon you saw the young man grinning in front of you. He sat on a chair and watched you for a while. You could tell he was too emotional to talk for an instant so you let him some time. He was looking at you as if you were the most beautiful thing he ever witnessed. It was making you a little bit shy because you were too unused to such positive attention towards you.
“Bo told you I was here?” you finally asked him because you couldn’t stand being silent any longer when you had so much to tell your brothers. Lester nodded.
“Was in the middle of a fight, but call for me to check on ya” he explained and you frowned a little.
“Was he afraid I ran away?” you asked and Lester looked away from you for a few instants; you were understanding things too fast, but at the same time it was normal: you were their sister.
“Well… Bo’s paranoid. But ‘s because he loves ya.” he replied and you were happy that he wasn't lying to you. “We won’t let ya breath for a while” he chuckled but you could tell he was serious about it. Even though you were independent, you didn’t mind the idea of being smothered with attention. It would be a nice change in your life.
“As long as you all let me fuss around you as well, I don’t mind” you smiled and Lester’s eyes lit up with happiness and excitement. He was beaming; his baby sister also wanted to take care of them! He wasn’t around the family house that often, but it would change if you stayed because he knew it would be different with you there. He knew Bo would calm a lot once he would have his baby sister to love on.
“Bo’s never gonna shut up ‘bout how family can’t be separated now” he hummed and rolled his eyes. You already loved the dynamics around here, and it was going to be fun to have brothers around you.
“Guess he’s right though” you replied as Bo appeared in the room.
“Always right, love” he said with a smug smirk before his attention went back to Lester. “Go help Vincent clean up the mess” he ordered him. Lester looked at you before looking back at Bo. He pouted and finally got up. He wasn’t too happy about leaving you now but he knew you weren’t going to go anytime soon. He winked at you before obeying Bo. You kept note that Bo was clearly the head of the family. It explained why he was the one with the ring. Your eyes found it again and Bo watched your movement. He walked closer to you as he played with his ring. He sat where Lester was but leaned closer. He was searching something on your face, as if he was trying to read your mind. You reached for his hands.
“Can I?” you asked as you touched the ring. Because it was you, Bo let you have it. You took the jewel and had a closer look at it. It was so pretty and now you could clearly remember it on your father’s finger. You tried it on with a smile as Bo never stopped watching you. “It suits me, don’t you think?” you said as you tried to make things as casual as possible between Bo and you. He smirked at how cute you were.
“Mama had a necklace for ya. A family one as well. It’s in your room.” he said and you watched him in surprise.
“My room?” you asked without understanding.
“Well yeah. The parents didn’t have the courage to get rid of it. And once the house was ours, we kept it too.” he replied “Was sure ya’d be back home one day” he said.
“If it’s still a baby bed, I’m not sure I’ll be able to sleep there though” you teased to not get emotional again. You couldn’t believe they kept a room for you in the hope you would come back to where you belonged. You couldn’t believe you had a family who truly loved you, even in your absence. Bo shook his head with a laugh.
“Vincent and I took care of it.” he replied and you arched an eyebrow for him to elaborate what that meant. “We bought ya a bed and clothes. It’s all ready for ya” he added and you couldn’t believe it.
“You were so certain I would come back one day?” you asked and Bo nodded.
“Couldn’t believe ya were lost foreva” he hummed as he reached to stroke your face. You leaned into his touch before giving his ring back.
“So what’s the plan now?” you asked and you tried to not sound too nervous. Even if you were home and that you felt safe with any of your brothers, they were strangers. And after the way they slaughtered your group, you were wondering what would happen to you. Bo picked up on your body language and he tried to think of the best way to talk to you. He really didn’t want to have to lock you up or hunt you down. He wanted you to stay on your own accord. He wanted you to be their sunshine once again.
“Ya settle in here. Ya can change the deco of your room, buy new clothes, anythin’. Ya can do anythin’ with the house too. It’s your home. But ya stay here. With us.” he wasn’t kidding and you took some time to think about it.
“What does that mean?” you finally asked
“It means ya stay with us. That’s simple.” he replied and there was a little bit of frustration and irritation in his voice. You tried to analyse the situation before answering him. He clearly loved you, or at least the notion of ‘baby sister’, and he was afraid to lose you, so his anger was rising up to hide anything else. You reassuringly smiled at him and reached for his hand again.
“Yes, of course. I’ve always wanted to be home with my family, so I’m not going anywhere” you said and you instantly knew you said the right thing because the man in front of you relaxed and smiled at you. “I was just wondering about my adoptive parents… and about my life before you. It’s not like I don’t want to change it, it’s just I wouldn’t like to be stuck somewhere without a job to do. And I’m not sure I would be able to kill anyone, in all honesty” you added and he frowned, but didn’t seem angry. He seemed to understand and to think about it.
“Lester ain’t living here, but in a small town next to Ambrose. ‘M sure ya could find a new job there and Lester’d bring ya back home every night.” he offered and you knew it was a lot of trust for Bo, especially for a woman he didn’t know. But you were his baby sister. You were aware you really could play that card if you wanted anything from him, so you kept that in mind.
“Sounds great” you agreed.
“For your parents, we’ll find something” he promised and you leaned to kiss his cheek.
“I’m sure you will” you said and you swore the man beamed with pride and happiness. He gave you his signature smirk and kissed your fingers before you got interrupted by the sound of the front door being opened again.
“Be nice to the freak” Bo whispered to you before getting up. You were a little bit confused, but you nodded and waited.
You stayed on the couch until you saw Lester… and your third brother coming in. Vincent, you reminded yourself of his name. You noticed he was wearing a mask… that seemed to be made out of wax. You found it a little bit strange but you thought you were no one to judge your brothers’ way of life. Lester got confident enough to help you get up and kiss your cheek. You felt he had wanted to do that since the moment he saw you but he didn’t have the courage before. You let out a soft laugh and you hugged him. It was obvious he would be the brother it would be the easiest to be touchy and affectionate with. You were full of affection actually and you couldn’t wait to be comfortable with all of them. You were a little bit afraid they would get tired of you though, but as long as they would let you cuddle with them, you were going to enjoy it. Lester was quick to hug you back before letting you go. You guessed Bo sent him a look for him to leave. You just had the time to catch Bo pushing Vincent towards you.
“Gonna prepare some food. Pizza’s good for ya?” Bo asked and you nodded.
“For sure! Do you need some help?” you asked.
“Take care of Vinny, that’s all I need ya to do” he replied so you switched your attention back on your last brother. Like the two others, he was staring at you with intensity. But it was different with him because he was surrounded by silence. You weren’t sure what to do, until you noticed the man was bleeding. Your own protective and caring nature kicked in and you came closer to him to have a better look at his wound.
“You’re hurt?” you asked him and he seemed to shy away a little before shaking his head. “Where’s the bathroom? I can help” you promised him. You really wanted to be useful to your brothers because you were really scared that, at some point, they decided they were living better without you. You wouldn’t stand the idea of them pushing you away. “Please?” you insisted as Vincent didn’t move or answer. He heard the pleading lacing your voice, and he understood you might have abandonment issues and you wanted to prove yourself to them. He finally nodded and moved away. You followed him to the bathroom.
He carefully removed his sweatshirt from his body and he let you inspect the wound. It wasn’t deep but you still had him sitting down and you looked for the antiseptic and the bandage. You took care of him with great seriousness and he never stopped watching you. He was itching from touching you but he didn’t dare.
“You were the one watching over me in the House of Wax?” you finally asked as you had calmed down now you had been allowed to take care of him. He nodded and you gently smiled at him.
“Well that was nice of you. It felt like I had a guardian angel” you said. You weren’t sure why you said that but it clearly touched Vincent who reached to stroke your face like Bo did earlier. You leaned into his touch as well and smiled at him even more. “I don’t remember much of my life here but I certainly knew I wanted to come home. I hope you’ll be happy to keep me here” you added. If Lester was the easiest to be affectionate with, you felt like Vincent was the easiest to talk to, and Bo was the easiest to go see for protection. Vincent got up at your words and he brought you against his chest to tell you that you were not going anywhere now. You relaxed onto him and his scent washed over you. It felt so familiar and comforting. You slowly remembered there was something about his face though. You looked up at him.
“I don’t remember what you look like under your mask, but I can eat somewhere else if you don’t want me to see,” you said. You clearly caught him off guard but he shook his head. You weren’t afraid of him when you were little and he hoped it would still be the same. He could still hide his face with his hair and if it was bothering you, he would be the one to eat somewhere else, and not you.
Before you could ask anything else, Bo called for the two of you. You all settled for some family dinner and you smiled to yourself.
You were truly home.

Chapter word count: 1454
This chapter goes out to @lklvz for giving me the names for some background characters, as well as @bacchicly for reminding me way back when i started this story that Emily tried to adopt a daughter of case victims, which is relevant in this chapter
Can also be read here on Ao3
“Oh, it’s definitely possible.”
Luke stared at Emily. “Wait, really?” He’d just pitched to her the idea of him and Penelope pursuing adopting Vivian, wanting to know if it was a conflict of interest in any way.
“Oh yeah. I mean, you hear stories in the news all the time of cops adopting kids they helped save. I almost did it myself, years ago.”
“You did?”
“Yeah. There was a team of family annihilators, and by chance, one of the girls happened to survive. She was taken in by family, but I was prepared. When I suggested it to Hotch, he told me he needed to know that I would be able to focus on the job and not let my heart get tugged every time. Granted, he didn’t know me very well by that point. I was new to the team. I told him I needed to know that I could be human. I know you, I know Penelope, I believe that this would be a really good opportunity for you two. If you can do it, go for it.”
That was the last piece of encouragement he needed. When he got home that night, he told Penelope about his conversation with Emily. The two of them had a lengthy talk about it, and they decided that, yes, this was what they were going to do. Vivian or not, they were going to adopt a kid. They were going to have a family.
The process took them a long time, months, and that was with the help of the connections they had. There were endless forms, and they had to be approved, and their house had to be approved, amongst other things. It was a long process, but they knew it would be worth every second if they got to make a kid’s life better because of it.
They had done the process through the group home Vivian was at, so, as soon as it was done, they could come in and meet with social workers and kids.
Obviously, they already had one in mind.
***
Vivian and Claire sitting close together on a couch in one of the loungerooms, scrolling through TikTok on Claire’s phone, when one of the staff members came into the room and gestured for Vivian to come talk to her.
“One, sec,” she whispered to Claire. She walked over to May, the staff member who’d called her over. “What’s up?”
“There’s a couple here who recently got approved as foster parents, and they’d like to talk to you, to see if you’d be interested in going home with them.”
Vivian’s eyes nearly bulged out of her head. “What? And these people are fostering with intent to adopt, right? Those are the only parents who come here. Without intent get the kids before they come here.”
“Yes, that’s right.”
“So, why me? I’m fifteen, I’m halfway through High School, normally parents want a baby, or at least a little kid.”
“I think if you come out and meet them, it’ll make sense.”
Vivian turned back to face Claire, shrugging at her, before following May out of the room.
She’d never been in the meeting room before, she’d only been there two years, and people didn’t tend to want teenagers all that much. Upon entering, she saw Bella, one of the other staff members of the home, a blonde woman dressed in bright and colorful clothing that she’d never seen before, and…
“Agent Alvez? Er… Luke?” She hadn’t seen the kind agent who’d saved her in months, but there he was, right in front of her, and, apparently, interested in adopting her.
He smiled warmly at her. “Hi, Vivian.”
Vivian turned to Bella. “Is this a prank? This feels too much like a YouTube video to be actually happening right now.”
She laughed. “No, it’s not a prank. I’ll give you three a minute to chat.”
Vivian awkwardly sat down across from them. “So. Uh. Hi.” She cleared her throat. “Sorry, I’ve just never done this before.”
“Neither have we,” the woman said comfortingly. “Also, hi, I’m Penelope, Luke’s wife.”
Vivian instantly adored that woman. Kindness seeped out of her, and her voice was so soothing. “It’s nice to meet you.”
Penelope smiled at her. “It’s nice to meet you too.”
“I don’t even know what to talk about in these kinds of meetings,” Vivian admitted with a laugh. “I never bothered asking. I never thought it would happen for me.”
Luke smiled at her. “Neither have we.”
“We know a bit about you,” Penelope said. “Do you want to know anything about us?”
“Why me?” Vivian blurted. “I mean, most prospective parents want little kids. I’m fifteen.”
“And therefore less worthy of parents? A family?” Luke questioned.
“Well…”
“I’m sorry if this at all made you uncomfortable,” Luke said. “That wasn’t our intention.”
“It didn’t!” Vivian rushed to say. “It was just surprising. But honestly, I’m really excited.” Truth be told, she had wondered over the past few months if the kind agent and his wife had ever adopted. She found herself irrationally jealous at the thought.
The couple’s faces lit up.
“So you’re interested?” Penelope asked. “In staying with us? Giving it a trial run?”
Vivian nodded. “Yeah, for sure!”
Luke grinned. “Great. We’re really glad to hear that. I’m guessing you probably have some things you want to pack and bring, so while you do that, we’ll work on the paperwork.”
Vivian bounced up from her chair, beaming. She barely saw Bella as she ran to her and Claire’s room.
“Woah, where’s the fire?” Claire teased. “What’s going on?”
“Remember the FBI Agent I told you about? The one who picked me up and was really kind to me? Luke?”
“Uh, yeah. Why?”
“He and his wife are here for me.”
Claire’s eyes widened in horror. “Oh my god, are you in danger again? Did something happen?”
“What? No! Claire, they’re here for me.”
Vivian watched as the realization dawned on Claire. “Wait… so they’re fostering you? Potentially adopting you if all goes well?”
Vivian nodded, some tears rising in her eyes. She hadn’t felt wanted in years.
Claire threw her arms around Vivian. “Oh my god! That’s so exciting! I’m so happy for you! Okay, let me help you pack all your things.”
“The only part of this that sucks is that I may be leaving you for good this time.”
Claire’s smile dropped. “Yeah, but at least this time it’s not because your life may be in danger. We’ll be able to visit and hang out. And we’ll still text all the time. You’re not getting rid of me.”
Vivian grinned at her. “Like I’d ever try to.”
***
About an hour later, Vivian re-emerged with her bags and a girl roughly her age trailing behind her.
“Claire, these are Luke and Penelope, the couple I told you about,” she introduced. “Luke and Penelope, this is my best friend Claire.”
Luke cast a glance at Penelope. He knew this would be the biggest adjustment for Vivian, living without her support system, Claire. He’d told her as much. “It’s nice to meet you, Claire,” he said.
“You too.”
“You know, Vivian,” Penelope said. “You’ll probably want a hand unpacking and getting settled, plus we’ll probably go shopping for things for your room, does your friend want to come with us and help you out?”
The smiles that lit up the two girls’ faces showed that Penelope’s suggestion was a very welcome one.
Claire turned to Bella, the staff member. “Can I?”
“You know the rules, be back by curfew. Have fun, ladies. We’ll miss you, Vivian.”
Vivian smiled at her. “I’ll miss you too. Thank you, for everything.”
The four of them spent the rest of the day shopping, setting up Vivian’s room, making sure she was comfortable and had everything she’d need. Luke and Penelope decided to take the girls out for a nice dinner before dropping Claire back off at the home.
They watched from the car as the girls embraced tearfully.
“I’m so excited for this, but it breaks my heart to separate them,” Penelope confessed.
“I know.” Luke reached over and rubbed her shoulder comfortingly. “This will be an adjustment for all of us. But I really think we’ll be okay.”
She leaned into his touch. “Of course we will, we’re us. We’ve overcome worse.”
Vivian got back into the car then, wiping a stray tear from her face.
“How are you feeling?” Luke asked as they commenced the drive home.
“Bittersweet? Terrified and excited all at once? And a little sad.”
“I think all of that is perfectly normal.”
“Mostly excited, though.”
Penelope smiled at her in the rearview mirror. “We’re excited too.”

Calm for now.
86 has been on light duty as he’s still adjusting to the changes, learning how to use his newly awakened augmented body along with the prosthetic arm. Light duty for Spartans is still quite a bit when compared to the normies though, and getting to know the other Spartans… Well, that was also harder than one would think. 86 was different. He was bigger than most of the Spartan IIIs, and still technically in the process of growing, but he was already damaged goods, already a failure. Nobody wanted him on their squad, he was a cripple, a liability, a mess.
Needless to say it made eating lunch in the mess hall a lonely endeavor. He wasn’t welcomed at most tables, it gets awkward real quick if you sit where no one wants you. The silence and the judging stares… It makes him sick to his stomach and he hates it. He stops trying, finds his own table, eats quickly and leaves most days.
“Orbital Drop Shock Troopers” or ODST. They’re a rowdy bunch. They normally don’t get along with any other branch, very tightly knit amongst themselves. Remarkably brave or just plain suicidal or maybe some crazy mixture of both, funny how those things are often interchangeable.
A group of them enters the cafeteria they’re loud and laughing with each other. 86 has never seen them here before. The ODST and marines have a staggered lunch time from the Spartans. An attempt by higher powers to keep them from fighting apparently it had happened before. Something about a fight over a weight room. There aren’t many seats left, at least not where they could sit all together, the mess hall is crowded and they set their sights on 86’s table. 86 is surprised when they all pile in, but makes no protest. After all there isn’t anywhere else for them and it’s not “his” table. They don’t really acknowledge his existence, but they’re not rude so he just rolls with it. At least he’s not alone anymore.
This continues over the next couple days. 86 claims the table and the ODST fill it in a little later. From what he’s overheard so far is that these ODST plus more and more Marines have been transferred here to runmore joint ops with the Spartan IIIs. It wasn’t long before 86 started paying more attention, sticking around a bit longer, listening to their jokes and their stories. He started to drop his guard, and started laughing too.
Until one of them says something to him…but they’re on his bad side and he doesn’t hear them. “Hey! Are you deaf!” Is what he finally hears as they slam a fist down next to him. He startles. Sliding his chair back away from the intruder, defensive and surprised. He didn’t recognize this soldier. Was he a new one? “I said move. You don’t belong here, swabbie.” The man spat the words like a curse. The rest of the table had gone quiet, an awkward silence. No one seemed to know what to say to that. 86 felt a spike of panic go through him. This was “his” table. He was here first. He was used to sitting here. He didn’t want to move. But before he could verbalize any of that, his internal panic was interrupted by a “hooting” sound. One of the ODST across the table smacked it loudly before flapping his hands wildly at the newcomer. His hands started grumpily forming shapes that 86 vaguely recognized, something similar to military hand signs but not quite that. “Gunny, wants you to kindly fuck off. That’s our Spartan. You find your own table shit-for-brains.” Another ODST translates Gunny’s signs. The new comer growls but does thankfully fuck off somewhere else, allowing 86 to finally sit back down… Flabbergasted.
Had he just been adopted? By ODST? Gunny made more signs at him. 86 watched with wonder but still didn’t understand. “He’s asking if you can hear on that side.” The ODST that translated earlier spoke up after a moment.
86 clears his throat, slightly embarrassed by the whole situation. “Ah, yes… A little bit…but not very well apparently…sorry.” 86 apologized as he rubbed the back of his neck with his good hand. More signs come from Gunny, hands flourishing about excitedly. “He can’t hear either, too many bombs, too close to his stubborn head.” The same ODST laughed this time sitting up and offering his hand out for a shake. “Name’s Joker.”
86 took the hand, his mechanical arm whirring quietly as he reached out. He was mindful of how much pressure he put into his grip as human hands were much more fragile than most of the things he held. “Holy shit! You really are all fucked up aren’t ya?” A bigger ODST off to his side spoke up, well big compared to normies anyway. He punched 86’s mechanical arm. “They like to call me Monster.” He introduced himself. “Ah, Yeah.” 86 nodded with Monster’s previous observation. “They told me I got blown up I guess…”
Joker laughed with 86’s explanation. “Dent and ding special it is then.”
Gunny started signing again as 86 watched. Monster translated this time. “Strays are always the best.” 86 couldn’t help but laugh, he wasn’t entirely sure what any of that meant but the tone sounded positive so he went with it. 86 later found out these three would be assigned to him as part of his training squad. Claiming they didn’t want to be with those “Pretty Spartans.” He ran missions and trained with them as an ODST…a “Helljumper.” They would give him an “ASL for Dummies” book. It was well worn and properly vandalized and signed by all three of them. Joker would teach him all about breaking the ice via terrible puns and worse jokes. 86 would even go as far as downloading an entire archive of them once he was given the resources, namely his very own set of SPI Mark II Armor. Gunny would teach him all he knew about explosives and their unconventional uses. Monster would teach him how useful a combat knife could be and to never go without…several of them. He had a little family, a crew, just a Spartan and his ODST.

Chapter 13
Pizza Puffs and Future
I paced back and forth in my room, contemplating if I should go or not.
Who wrote this mysterious note? Never mind, how did they get in without being spotted? No, no, back to the issue at hand here, Y/N!
"Fine, I'll go, but if I suspect something is up, I'm ninjaing myself out of there faster than you can say smoke bomb," I say while looking and talking to my reflection
"I need to stop doing that... wait a minute." I look at the note again and realize that the dumb-dumb who wrote the note didn't specify a time or where exactly to meet. I sigh inwardly, grab my phone, wallet, and pepper spray, and grab Donnie's hoodie I stole....borrowed. I changed out of my PJs, pulled on a pair of sweatpants, tied on my sneakers, and zipped up the hoodie. I push my galaxy curtain out of the way of the doorway, looking from side to side to make sure the coast is clear. Knowing Donnie is more than likely up tinkering away to distract himself, and luckily, his lab is in a different part of the lair. I'm home free, just have to sneak past the pesky security cameras.
I tip-toe past the brothers' rooms, loud snoring is coming from Raph's room, and I giggle quietly. Making my way to the exit, I slip out into the sewers and jump out from a manhole. Looking at the time on my phone, it was around 2 a.m., but even though it was so early, people were still shuffling around to wherever they needed to go. Kicking my heels together, my wheels activate, and I start skating towards Central Park. Once I get there, I deactivate my wheels and start walking around the park with pepper spray at the ready.
"Well, it's about time you showed up," a feminine voice said from behind me
"Eh, what can I say? I like to keep people waiting," I say while turning around and looking into the darkness smugly but shaking in my sneakers silently.
"OH tough guy huh, let me see what you got," the woman counters as she steps into the light of the park lamp. Her body is covered by a dark cloak.
I smirk and gesture for her to come at me, but she comes at me fast. I barely see her, I grab her and toss her onto a pile of leaves. She giggles and comes at me. (Insert kick-ass fighting sequence)
"It's as if the person all my attacks and dodges them easily. Well, I'll show her"
At the last second, as she punches, I hit a weak spot in her shoulder that makes her arm paralyzed. I swing and kick her feet, and she falls onto her back with a thud. I catch my breath, and I hear her giggle.
"Man, you got me. Well, this time was different than the others." She pulls back her hood, and I see myself but older.
"Wait, what? Huh? How?" My brain shuts down for a brief moment while she watches my struggle.
"How about we sit down for this?" The future me says, and all I can do is nod my head and sit on a park bench next to her.
"So I get it. You have a lot of questions and i have the answers but since i know what you will ask I'll just word vomit and cover all the bases."
I raise my pointer finger as I am about to say something. She puts her pointer finger on my lips to shush me.
"Alright, well...I'm sorry. I have had so many years to prepare for this, and so many time parrapels to do it in but it doesn't get better each time I do it."
"Wait, what?" I say, shocked and confused
"Moving on..." Future Aqua says after quickly clearing her throat.
"Obviously, you've realized that we aren't exactly normal human beings...."
Flashbacks of all the times abnormal things happened to me, and it clicks just as the words come out of my future self's mouth
"We're part alien,"
"I'm a freakin alien, how? what?"
So many thoughts race into my head, Neither of my dads explained my adoption process, nor was I too interested in knowing.
"Yes, we were created by a very powerful alien society to destroy the world as we know it," future self says while anxiously fidgeting
There is a very long silence before I speak up.
"Am I able to control my "other" self? I don't want to hurt anyone. "
"With training and discipline, you can control your powers. But unfortunately, I'm not able to teach you or I will change the future of this time. I've gotten this part wrong so many times. Even telling you this information is risky, but I know that the unknown is just as scary."
A beeping noise goes off from my future self-arm communicator.
"I don't have much time left before I have to leave, but there are some things I can teach you. You did pretty well moving your soul to your water form, and with practice, you can transfer it to other forms of elements. But for now, we'll focus on your mystic magic.
"Wait, so there are other dimensions? My mind freaking blown!! My science teacher owes me an A+ now for my theory, which had a plethora amount of factual evi-"
I see my future self looking at me with an eyebrow quirked up.
"Oh my God, I hang out with Donnie too much,"
"It gets worse,"
"What was that?"
"Nothing, now let's begin"
After a couple of hours of meditating and astroprojecting, my mind is fried, and I feel extremely tired.
"You've done well, young padawan."
Lying on the ground, I roll my eyes and smirk.
"Thanks, I try,"
Again, her communicator starts beeping
"Alright, kid, gotta go."
Soon, the air starts to crackle and pop, an orange crack starts to form in the space next to the both of us, and a portal starts to open. Once it's fully open, an older version of Mikey (around 20 ish) is on the other side he smiles warmly at me and winks. He has HAIR too what the f*ck.
"No freaking way...." I say as my jaw drops
Future Aqua and Mikey laugh at my expression, and she looks into the darkness and shouts.
"Alright, Vi, come on, it's time to go,"
A flash of green flies past me and a small shell lands in her arms out pops a Turtle tot with a silver-colored bandana tied into a bow, a heart shape on her shell, and vitiligo spots in YSC (your skin color) adorn her light green colored skin, she's wearing a white colored skirt and black shorts underneath.
"Aww, no, fair, I was almost done with my drawing."
"You can finish it when we get back"
We hear a crash coming from inside the portal, some shouting ensues.
"Leo, I'm tired of you taking my inventions and using them on test runs without my permission!"
"Aw, come on, bro, you know I'm the best test dummy."
"That may be true, but you somehow end up breaking them!"
"Enough you two we have bigger problems than this" Raph heavy footsteps stomp after the twins.
"You destroyed a priceless Donnie invention without me! We had a deal!" yells what sounds like Cass.
"Guys Jupiter Jim marathon is starting soon and I'm not missing it again because of your squabbles" April's voice shouts over the chaos.
Mikey and Future Me shake their head, and the little tot jumps out of her arms and runs into the portal.
"Dad, uncles, aunties wait up!"
"See you on the flip side, kid," future Aqua says
"Wait....Are we happy.... in the future?" I ask hesitantly
Before the portal closes, she smiles and says happily as something shiny catches my eye on her ring finger.
"Yes."
The portal closes, and I grab my backpack. I turn to start making my way home. Taking a step I hear something crunch, looking down I see a piece of paper. Reaching down to grab it I see a drawing of little Vi holding hands with what looks like Future Me and Donnie next to him are the future counterparts Leo, Raph, and Mikey, Splinters, April, and Cass. Over each person was a name but what shocked me to my core was my name was Mommy, then D was written but the rest was torn off not thinking much of it because it was probably Donnie's name and onto Master Splinter it says Grandpa.
"Mommy?! Grandpa!? No way that would mean" A blush creeps across my cheeks and I shake my head back and forth.
"Nope, that's not possible there have to be other mutant Turtle men in the hidden city somewhere. It is also possible for humans to create hybrid children, that's amazing!"
Thinking about telling Donnie about it, but deciding not to tell him not wanting to destroy the time and space continuum. Smiling down at the picture and start walking home.
I walk into the opening of the theater room, I see all the boys and Raph is giving them his usual older brother scolding. When I fully walk into the room I see Leo with a blue flame encasing his head and he's jumping up and down, Donnie's stomach has a face and is alive and Mikey is a limp snake noodle on the floor.
"What happened!! You know what it's too early in the morning for this" I say while quickly walking into my room.
They watch me leave and Raph suggests that he will drive.
I fall onto my bed with a sigh. Going over what happened this morning a lot of thoughts rush through my head.
"I'm a badass and a mom in the future. I have to train and get better"
Sitting on the floor, I start to meditate. It almost feels like I fall asleep and wake up but I'm still in my meditating state of mind. I see small chubby hands, cubby squishy legs and toes, and diapers. Tentacles grab me and pick me up. My vision is blurry but I can see blob-like creatures jabbering about something I'm placed into soft comforting arms I snuggle into arms and coo. A sweet soft voice speaks to me while stroking my hair, the woman starts to feed me. Then the memory starts to glitch to the blob creatures holding me and laughing, then UT goes back to the woman holding me. When I'm finished she starts to sing.
Shimmering little river
Babbling and splashing
So beautiful and true
My little stream ever growing and changing
A sweet little tidal wave
Strong and brave
Baby Dewdrop your mommy loves you so
After she finishes I'm yanked from her arms, I start to cry, and the blobs start laughing evilly.
I woke from my meditation in a cold sweat, wiped the sweat off my brow, and checked the time. Several hours have gone by, sighing and deciding to hop into the shower.
"I have a mom, this day has been a very emotional rollercoaster...but I didn't know if what I was seeing was true..." sighing somewhat defeated.
I dress in shorts and a tie-dye tank top with my hair in a messy bun. Walking into the kitchen to make a sandwich I see Raph eating one, while covered in bandages and sporting a fresh black eye.
"Alright, which Raph won this time?" I say while smiling at him
"Hard to tell, think it's a tie for now" he chuckles and awkwardly rubs the back of his neck.
"Did the boys learn their lesson?" Finishing up my sandwich
"Pfft who knows"
Punching his shoulder gently I wave and make my way to Donnie's lab. Knocking our not-so-secret knock, the lab door opens and I see Donnie hunched over something and tinkering away.
"You know your "secret" knock isn't needed I can see it's you," He says not even looking up at me
"Duh, but it makes me feel like I'm a spy so let me have my fun"
Cutting my sandwich in half and offering him a half which he gladly accepts.
Clearing my throat before I start to speak, "Hey, I wanted to talk to you about the time I was unconscious."
That got him to stop tinkering, and flip his goggles up to his brow, he pinches the area between his brow and snout but doesn't make eye contact with me.
"What do you want to know?" He says quietly
"Well I kind of say everything thanks to my new power, but I want to know more about myself and test my limits. Think of it as an experiment..."
"Sigh, as much as I would like to test out what happened during your unconscious state, I think your body has been through enough trauma to last a lifetime" He slowly turns his computer chair towards me and looks up at me with sadness in his eyes. Flashbacks of the last couple of days run through his head, a tear rolls down and splashes onto his thigh as he clenches his fists.
"I won't make you do something you don't want to do, but I need to know more about myself so I can better help the team. After being captured and well...I just feel so weak and useless." Tears roll down my cheeks and I wrap my arms around myself squeezing tight, not knowing what to say Donnie gets up and holds me tightly. We cry for a bit, once we calm down he chuckles. I love his laugh so much and it made me laugh as well.
"Well if you insist on asking the Great Othello Von Ryan for help, I'll do it," he says very sure of himself but his expression becomes serious and he says. "But if you feel any negative emotion, anything at all let me know and we'll stop, ok?"
"Ok," I say assuringly
"Right, well shall we"
"Let's do this, right after I grab some snacks and drinks" Quickly running out of the lab I end up dropping the picture from my pocket
Donnie sees it and picks it up, curiosity is peaked he opens it and sees the drawing. Hearing my footsteps draw near again, he hastily folds the paper and places it back on the floor while he runs to get some supplies he'll need for the extensive experiments.
My arms are full of snacks and I grab a blanket for good measure, seeing the paper on the floor, snatching it up, and stuffing it in my pocket. We start small with the experiments seeing how quickly my body heals after fighting. Mostly missing chances to block on purpose to create bruises from Donnie hitting me, he made sure that I was OK afterward and that he had my consent. We'd take the data and add them to categories in the degree of injury, length of time injury was healed, and how they healed.
During every mission, I'd mentally note each injury I'd receive, and then when we returned to the lair, we'd scan my body and see what was happening.
"Well, my sweet Aqua dare I say you are almost indestructible, although there is still room to prove it you've had everything thrown at you-"
"Literally, dude she got hit by a bus today and lived!" Leo says with stars in his eyes
"Raph is still recovering from his panic attack," Mikey says while trying to comfort Raph
"The bus...came...out...of no where" Poor Raph with his big self is in the fetal position mumbling to himself
"Yea, I need to watch where I'm going. But now we know I can survive a bus hitting me" I say excitedly with a thumbs up
"However we don't know if you can survive anything bigger, but I don't back down from a challenge so I'll take our findings and see if I can find a limit to your ability"
"Woah check it out that tooth got knocked out of her mouth, the space is growing a new one"
"What?" Donnie rushes over to look over Leo claim and sure enough another tooth is growing
"I lost all my baby teeth, we even did an x- ray to see all my bones. That was my adult tooth I lost" I say while rubbing my tongue on the squishy pink gum feeling the tooth slowly make its way in.
"To the lab" He pushes me towards the lab, quickly placing me on the lab table.
"Are you OK, shall we continue?" He asks noticing how I'm tensing up. I've done that each time I got on the table, no thanks to Draxum.
"Y-yea we're cool" I say hesitantly
"I need an affirmative or negstive, before I can continue" Donnie says while looking over at me with a soft expression
"Yes, we can continue"
He starts up the machine, as it zooms into scan my bone structure and he enhances the image. We can see that my bones are working over time producing calcium to construct a new tooth however it's growing much sharper than the original.
"Looks like you and Raph are going to have signature snagle toithe grins"
"But why is it growing that way and not like the original tooth" I think about my alien blood and the conversation I had with Future Aqua. I still haven't told him about that day but I know he's suspecting something at least.
"Only one way to find out with SCIENCE!" he sings the science part which makes me giggle
"Raph we're gonna be snaggletooth buddies!"
"Raph approves"
Donnie rolls his eyes, sits in his computer chair and rolls his chair over to his computer and starts to input the data. I come up behind him and whisper.
"I want to suck your blood"
He jumps a bit and I giggle as I sit on the desk
"Gotta keep you on your toes Von Ryan"
"Scoff I'll get you back for it" the blue light from the computer illuminates his face and he continues to type
"So hypothetically if I wasn't fully human would that change your view on me?" I ask hesitantly
"No of course not" he looks over at me suspiciously.
"Is there something that you're not telling moi?"
"Noooooooooo" i say clearly not being convincing
"What are talking here, yokai or Jupiter Jim kind of alien?"
"I guess a JJ kind of-"
"I knew it, you were keeping something from me"
"Well, I um, pfft, alright Mr Know it all what do you think it could be?"
"The list is extensive as we are unsure about the alien life that's out there, but we can just give it a name"
"Eh let's call it alien X"
"Alien X it is, so tell me what you know"
He spins his computer chair around and looks at me with his hands clasps and folded
"It's not what I know it's what I can do, it's probably best to not show you in here"
We go into the skateboard rec room and I stand in the middle of the room.
"Alright now let's keep an open mind here ok..." I say my voice quivering with nervousness
Sighing I concentrate and feel my body transforming, my pupils become cat like, my tooth grows fully, the rest sharpen and elongate, my skin turns pinkish purple with splotches of YSC (your skin color), my arms become tentacles, legs elongate and nails grow pointed and sharp.
"Holy truffle Mac n cheese" Donnie says shocked then he smiles his signature evil scientist smile as he pulls his mystic goggles over his eyes.
"Let's get to work"

aftg :) 📓
hi rory!
I can’t remember if I’ve talked about this wip on here yet or not but last year I made this plot outline for an au based on the book The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Catherine Webb. It’s pretty long (which is why I haven’t written it lol).
Trigger warning for excessive reincarnation/time loop-style major character death (Andrew dies a lot, often very young) and for mentions of child abuse and csa, per Andrew’s canonical trauma
So Andrew, Neil, and a few other characters are what are called “Ouroborans,” someone who is reborn into their same life over and over again. Per the rules of The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August universe, Ouroborans lived as normal babies until their 4th birthday. Then they get regain what memories of their previous turns at life they remember. Andrew is a special sort of Ouroboran because he remembers everything about every turn of his life he has ever taken thanks to his eidetic memory.
My idea for the fic is that it would be mostly from Andrew’s pov with occasional interludes from Neil.
Andrew’s 1st turn at his life is actually pretty good. He’s adopted at 4 by a pleasant but unremarkable conservative couple. The couple adopted him because they were infertile but thought that having a child was the sort of thing they’re supposed to do cuz blah blah heteronormativity or whatever. They’re not really all that interested in Andrew besides just being able to say that he’s their child and Andrew isn’t really interested in them. And so, he lives a pretty normal, albeit closeted, boring life. Unfortunately he dies young in an accident in college.
In his next life, he gets his memories back at 4 and subsequently becomes way too weird of a child for said conservative couple to adopt. He’s sent right back into the system and so begins his shitty foster care experience. From there Andrew reincarnates often because he usually dies very young from abuse, neglect, and/or straight up accidents. The oldest he lives is usually ~13 years (he doesn’t make it past living a few months with the Spears if he makes it that far) and he is never able to replicate that first life because he becomes a very strange (read: traumatized) child once he gets his memories back and it’s too off-putting for most families to want to adopt him.
This changes when Andrew meets Renee, also an Ouroboran. He learns there’s a whole community of people like him (though he learns that he’s weird for being able to perfectly remember all of his lives, as most Ouroborans only remember basic details about their past lives, but that doesn't surprise him because he already knew that his memory is weird). Of course Andrew’s a cynical little fuck and at first thinks Renee is a quack, so she flat-out stabs him like a badass and gives him a time and place to meet up with her his next life, which he does. Andrew doesn’t really care for any of the others in the Ouroboran community but he likes Renee because he thinks she’s cool. Unfortunately he falls out of contact with her when she gets adopted by Stephanie Walker.
Renee’s presence in Andrew’s life keeps him alive through that time period of his first few months living with the Spears, so for the first time, he lives long enough to learn about Aaron’s existence (which happens similarly to canon). What happens next is a montage of Andrew’s next few lives where he keeps dying in the process of trying to find ways to keep Aaron away from the Spear house. Eventually Andrew decides that the best way he can keep Aaron safe is remove himself from the equation, so he puts himself into juvie. There he meets Betsy, working as a therapist for juvie kids, and learns that she too is an Ouroboran. He strikes up a friendship with her and gets some real therapy for the 1st time in his many lives.
From there, things proceed as canon (except Andrew doesn’t tell Luther about Drake cuz in this au he ain’t telling anyone shit about his abuse) until Tilda’s car accident. Andrew dies in the car with her.
In Andrew’s next life after that, he goes looking for Betsy as soon as he can and basically her influence via phone keeps him alive long enough for things to mostly proceed as canon (with a couple exceptions: Andrew does his best to manipulate events, with Betsy's help, so that Aaron is out of Tilda's care as soon as possible and with the Hemmicks. Andrew also manages to not get arrested for defending Nicky) until PSU. During Andrew’s 1st year, Riko flat-out kills Andrew to get Kevin.
So for a while Andrew’s lives proceed mostly in this same fashion. PSU is the point at which Andrew’s lives get stuck at. If he lived long enough to make it to college, he can’t stop himself from making a deal with Kevin and every time he manages to get himself killed by Riko.
And then: enter Neil.
I’m stopping there because this outline is very long lol
Send me a “📓” emoji and I’ll tell you about a fic wip

so I headcanon Percy as having bpd & I wanted to make a post about it, breaking down a piece of his mental state. one day I'll do a complete post about his mental state/how it progresses & how he processes to world as it passes but I have been wanting to make this post for, like, forever now so here we go. starting off, I'm going to clarify that Percy internalizes a lot of these feelings as well. certain behaviors still show up but he doesn't always know how to show people his emotional trigger-finger. percy experiences a lot of this internally & a lot of it externally. he's semi-functional but his emotions can be debilitating when he grants them the control they want to have over his body... also it's worth noting that percy's favorite person is keyleth in almost any circumstance thank you lets Begin
Tumblr media
a general feeling of emptiness. so we'll start by talking about this, one of the defining characteristics of bpd. percy has a hard, hard time pinpointing who he is with the level of intensity he operates at. it's very very difficult for him to connect himself to the moment because he gets caught up in so many emotional highs. it's easier for him to go ' I did something in the past ' than ' I am doing something right now 'because he doesn't always recognize himself in the moment & that leaves him feeling very detached from any half-formed sense of self.
high sensitivity. there's this theory about bpd that I really think applies there. percy was a sensitive kid in a non-affirming environment growing up. what does this mean? well, it means he was always going to be someone who picked up on emotion really easily. but where a lot of parents will soothe their children & comfort them, the De Rolo's were not particularly affectionate with their children. Some of the siblings got along better than others but overall there wasn't a lot of affirming parental care.
so his brain never learned how to regulate the level at which he experiences distress. whether this is sadness, anger, or the feeling of being abandoned - he feels it at a much higher level than what may be considered ' normal '.
so when it comes to emotion, his nerves are usually on fire trying to sort through the feelings.it's part of why he keeps them tangled up on the inside. because if he starts to undo any emotional knots he may fall apart entirely. feelings also tend to linger a lot longer than what is ' logical'. in his brain, he can recognize that he shouldn't be angry about something a day, a week, or a month after it happens & still be pissed off about it. it's also worth noting that he's super irritable because his emotions are super raw but we already know this.
fear of abandonment. so we've already touched briefly on his emotional sensitivity. but because he is very receptive to negative emotions, he tends to expect the worst. he expects people to leave him on a whim because where a self-critical thought may pass through a 'normal' brain he adopts it as something that temporarily defines him ( until he moves on to his next definition of self ) & assume that is also all the people around him can see as well.
he also has a lot of guilt from his strong emotional reactions & considers that grounds for abandonment. if he splits on someone or is particularly harsh to them he doesn't forget it. he often feels terrible about it & expects that it is the reason the other person is looking for to leave him. if someone calls him out for something he's done ( even if they are in the right ) he starts to feel empty & abandoned even if he logically knows he's still loved.
aches for companionship while imposing isolation on himself. percy can be very clingy with the people he loves or he can shut them out entirely. it's sort of a cat thing in the 'I'm only gonna be clingy when I want to be clingy ' sort of way if that makes sense?
he walks an emotional tightrope of ' too much or not enough ' because again he cannot regulate his emotions well enough to find a midground between each impulse. he can't decide what the right ratio is for him if he doesn't know who he is. he'll still be seeking approval even when he puts this distance between himself & the people he wants it to come from. it results in a lot of self-hurt feelings because he assumes if he's not getting the attention that he's seeking, someone is upset with him.
emotional tunnel vision. because of the intensity at which he experiences emotion, he sometimes has difficulty empathizing with the people around him. he has very biased empathy in the sense that he's sensitive to rejection & negative emotion but doesn't always understand when approval or positive emotion is being given. again, he expects abandonment so that's what he's looking for. it's also often what he assumes the people around him are looking to do
dissociation. also because of the high-intensity emotions he experiences, he's prone to checking out almost entirely. which plays more into the distance he feels from his already wavering sense of self. this also has to do a little bit with that self-imposed isolation I mentioned earlier.
when he hits an emotional high that is too high/potentially triggering he can & will check out almost entirely. I feel like this is part of why Percy assumes he's stuck in a dream after vox machina pulls him out of that cell. he can't entirely connect with that high of having people who he not only cares about but also care about him. it's too intense of a feeling ( a feeling of happiness, fear, love, danger it's just Too Much until he looks at it in hindsight after being with them for a while. he subscribes to that delusion instead of feeling it in full )
he can & will adopt the goals of the people around him. I've talked about this a lot 1x1 with others but a lot of Percy's love language is reflecting what people need out of him. it's part of why he's so quick to get into a crazy ritual with a bunch of friendly strangers, why he doesn't hesitate to give them all of his money. because that is what they are interested in & doing & he wants to be a part of that whether or not it aligns with goals he's otherwise set for himself.
this is a form of communication not only rooted in love. he sees something that helps someone in front of him survive & adopts it as a potential piece of whatever he defines himself at the moment. I have a headcanon about Ripley taking over Percy's workshop & having him help her in it to weaponize his safe space but it backfired because he just starts picking up pieces of her as a survival tactic. he's sensitive to the feelings she's putting out there & raises them like a shield to protect himself. that will get a post entirely on it's own sometime.
self-destructive behaviors. percy doesn't always take his bodily safety into account when doing things because a) he doesn't care b) the pain sort of regulates some level of emotion for him. it's grounding. it's why he's not very careful in his workshop or a battlefield [ or in scary tombs ] because if he gets hurt it's a means of feeling something.
Unfortunately, this also gets the people he loves in danger because his lack of self-preservation comes from a self-centered view. it's that tunnel vision from earlier coming into play. he'll be working on a project, know something is going to explode & not step away because he is waiting for that fire-to-skin contact. something that doesn't affect him permanently but can give at least a few hours of physical feeling outside of internal feeling.
splitting. I've talked about Percy's irritability & how he is searching for a reason people may want to leave him. I've also talked about how he has very biased empathy when it comes to recognizing negative emotions. when he's triggered in certain ways, he will get scared. then he will get angry.
he can be the happiest guy in one moment but if he perceives abandonment ( whether or not it's there ) he can take it very personally & get pissed off over something that may have even been super small, to begin with. certain trauma-related topics can also trigger him as well ( ex: bring up Ripley & he will get Pissed off & Terrified as he would be with her right in front of him. ex 2: bring up Vex's death & he will revert to that feeling of 'I almost lost her & it's my fault ' in all its intensity )
limited to no sense of the future. we've already talked about him being unable to pin down his sense of self but this also has to do with long-term thoughts. without a sense of self, he doesn't have a solid sense of the future. it's hard to look forward when he's stuck looking back, leaving him at the moment very lost & operating on these emotional highs we've talked about. it's not always a terrible thing. his instinct is sometimes wildly creative & useful. it can also be a massive liability.

Working on a fic rn that is killing me, I GOTTA talk about it. Imagine ftm Izaya being asked by Shinra and Celty to be their surrogate bc their options are limited and they assume he wouldn't be able to get attached to the baby bc of his aspd and general disposition (unfair assumption on their part) Izaya only agrees bc he can't stand the idea of disappointing Shinra and proceeds to go through the mental anguish of dysmorphia and carrying a baby that's not even his that he wants to love so much
i. man. ive been presenting this ask to my friends all day because this is such a good fucking idea. this is perhaps the best drr fic of all time by my personal ranking (which also happens to be the correct ranking) and i thought id give you a couple fun little bits of informed mation that could possibly help you with this fic :) one of them is surrogacy related the other is aspd related
SO!!! the first thing i did was show my fiance and i said, well, izaya could keep the baby if he wanted, surrogacy laws are in his favor. but then i thought..... are they? because i was basing that off surrogacy laws in the us..... so i googled it!
surrogacy in japan is um, Extremely Controversial! first off, surrogates do have legal guardianship of the baby, the parents who want the baby have to go thru a formal adoption process, and if it goes to court, courts would most likely side with the surrogate.
BUT!!!!!! the welfare of the child is explicitly stated to be the first and foremost concern. at the end of the day, a married couple could very well win over a single man, especially a single man with antisocial personality disorder, if his diagnosis is on record anywhere. (of course this is all dependent on whether or not izaya GOES to court, and if celty can keep her helmet on and pose as a mute human woman)
either way, this all but confirms that shinra would be izaya's obgyn. imagine at every checkup, shinra is cooing over how well his baby is doing, completely oblivious to how upset izaya is <3 did u know that if you're trans and you get pregnant, you have to stop taking your hrt? too much testosterone can cause miscarriages- very high levels of natural T is actually why i'm infertile </3 so that can be a little extra angst for izaya~ <3
NEXT! THING!!
let me introduce u to the concept of aspd exceptions <3
it's..... kind of like the aspd version of a pwbpd's favorite person? kind of? not really
it's like. sometimes, for one person, the aspd will not be aspding. they're... literally the exception to how your symptoms work. things like empathy and yeah even remorse will work within like, normal operating levels. it's kind of weird tbh and kind of distressing? like, since you're not used to these emotions being there, especially with how strong they are, you have no way to cope with them. it sucks major ass and while it can being people closer together, it also sucks major ass. like.... if you never felt remorse before, suddenly feeling remorse over something you commonly do just because you did it to one Specific Person, leaves you with this very strong, very bad emotion, that you have no way to cope with!
and its not just remorse too, things like empathy fire off at full cylinders, so like... if ur used to just using cognitive empathy and logicing out things, imagine how much itd suck to suddenly be ass blasted by Functioning Normally Affective Empathy
anyway there's this one lady on tiktok who has aspd, and she talks about aspd symptoms a lot. she has a young child, and that child is her exception
get what i'm getting at here? ;) imagine izaya going thru all this then, while already distressed, dysphoric, and hormonal, shit like EMPATHY and strong STRONG emotional ties started kicking in wrt his baby and now he has to deal with extremely strong emotions he is not used to!
(and in case ur wondering, yes i do have exceptions, but who it exactly IS changes from time to time and the feeling ebbs away over time too so sometimes i don't have one)
anyway!!! i love this fic already. PLEASE dm me i need to go absolute ham over this with you. please. please . i can introduce u to my friends so thats like. 3 friends for the price of one
please tell me this ends happily i do not think i would be able to handle it if it did not. please. i am crying and begging and pissing . please.

About Kiyan:
Birthday: 12/04
Specialty dish: Masala Cheese Balls
Constellation: Cor Lunare (lunar heart)
Vision: Anemo
Weapon: Catalyst
Kiyan has a bright and charming personality. He’s very smart due to the amount of time that he spent in the labs with his father when he was a kid, picking up some knowledge here and there. He tends to be very curious about new things and is willing to learn about them. He comes off as a bit intimidating at times but once you get to know him, he’s a big softie and is very playful. He also tends to be a big flirt and is confident with his anemo power. If something makes him upset or mad, he will not hesitate to bite back which causes him to be reckless at times. He loves wandering around sumeru and exploring new places. He doesn’t have a permanent home, but he will occasionally return to a small campsite he set up near Varanara.
Kiyan Lore:
Kiyan was created by a Khaenri’ahn alchemist who also studied the stars and the moons. The alchemist was fascinated by the wonderful floating rocks and tried to implement astrology into his creations. This alchemist studied the art of Khemia and was Rhinedottir’s apprentice for a few years. A few months before, while Rhinedottir was in the process of creating Albedo, the astronomer was finally fed up with the talented alchemist, due to her strict behavior and long hours in the lab. He never felt the appreciation from her and would always be the one to blame for any failures. The only reason he stayed was to expand his knowledge of Khemia. Once he believed he learned all that he could from her, he left.
The alchemist did not leave empty handed. He wrote on napkins, scraps of paper, anything that he could put words on, he wrote and stuffed it into a journal that is now overflowing with knowledge from Rhinedottir. Since he was there while she was still in the process of creating Albedo, he contained some of the knowledge to create his own human as well. He wanted to prove to Rhinedottir that he was capable and skilled.
The process was full of trial and error, but he never gave up. Until one day, he was successful in his creation and the little synthetic human was brought to life. The baby was Kiyan, his eyes shimmered a bright purple as he opened them but soon died down, to reveal his brown eyes. The alchemist was overjoyed, he couldn’t believe his eyes. He packed his bags, grabbed the bottle that contained a baby Kiyan and immediately set off to Sumeru to show his closest friends what he had accomplished. He was so ecstatic about his success, that he completely forgot to go and boast about it to Rhinedottir.
The alchemist introduced the baby to his friends. Everyone was surprised and shocked. They bombarded the Alchemist with a million questions and studying the little Kiyan in the bottle. A few months go by and Kiyan was beginning to grow. He was calm and rarely cried. The alchemist at first paid little to no attention to Kiyan in the first few months. Once Kiyan let out his first cry, the alchemist realized something: he didn’t know how to raise a kid. Kiyan’s cries were soft and as the alchemist approached the crib where the baby lay, he realized he was responsible for this little creation now.
A few years passed, and Kiyan was healthy and happy. He was incredibly smart for his small age and would always be by his father’s side whenever he worked on a project. The alchemist did not expect to grow so attached to him. He showed him the teachings of alchemy, he bought him clothes, whenever he needed to go to another nation for research, he would bring Kiyan along as he refused to leave him behind. He brought him to the labs in Sumeru, his close friends practically adopted Kiyan as well. Kiyan was bright and always loved being with his father and his friends. He would often be in the lab with the other alchemists or outside looking for plants and flowers. He was a happy kid, growing up a normal life.
Then, the fall of Khaenri’ah happened. Kiyan was still a child when he and his father were in his father’s lab. The ground was shaking, the buildings were crumbling. The alchemist and Kiyan grabbed as much as they could and ran out of the house before it collapsed on itself. The sounds of screaming could be heard throughout the nation. Kiyan and his father ran, he had no way of contacting his close friends in Sumeru, but he knew he had to at least get Kiyan there. They ran until suddenly, Kiyan was pushed forward. He looked back and saw that his father had been crushed from a falling rock, his hand was the only thing showing. Kiyan only stared in fear, the world around him paused. He walked up to the rock and saw his father’s hand. It was holding the little plush that his father had made for him. Kiyan picked it up and stood there, paralyzed. The world around him did not matter. His father taught him everything. Everything except how to live without him. He began to walk backwards, unsure of what to do, where to go. He clutched the plush in his hands and began to run, leaving his father’s body and never looking back. A familiar voice called out to Kiyan, it was one of his father’s friends. The Sumeru alchemist and a couple of other familiar faces were also there. Kiyan ran to them as fast as he could, until the ground underneath them started to crumble. He eventually reached them and they had a device that could teleport them back to Sumeru. Before they had a chance to use it, monsters rampaged across the land, soon killing the Sumeru alchemists as well. Kiyan was badly wounded as he lay beside his lifeless friends, who he considered family. He noticed the teleportation device was still in one of the alchemist’s hands and he took it. As he stood up, the monsters took notice and ran back to finish off Kiyan. He was then met with a swirl of light, a vision. He quickly grabbed it and tried to keep the monsters away as much as he could, but they were too strong. He used all of his strength and managed to hold them back for a little until he finally was able to use the transportation device.
He landed in an unfamiliar land in Sumeru. He began walking until he collapsed under a tree from exhaustion. By the time he awoke, he was in a small house, his body ached, his heart ached even more as he recalled what had happened. He wasn’t sure how long he was out. He looked at his surroundings and saw that he was covered in leaves and a blanket. On the table beside him was his plush. He took it in his hands and finally let the tears fall from his eyes. Soon a little round creature appeared at the door. Kiyan had heard of these creatures from the Sumeru alchemists. It was an Aranara. The Aranara walked up to him and Kiyan only stared at him, with tears in his eyes. More Aranara started approaching the room. The Aranara gathered around Kiyan, trying to comfort him. They each brought Kiyan a small gift to cheer him up, it would vary from a simple zaytun peach to a garland. Kiyan would grow with the Aranara, until he got older and set off on his own. The Aranara forgetting him as the years went on.
